We scored a 3:15pm reservation at CAFE ORLEANS inside Disneyland Park! I booked it earlier in the morning through the app, on our drive down from Agoura Hills to Anaheim. It was one of the few options available, but I didn't mind since we've eaten here before during Sweethearts Night. Timing was perfect since we started our day at California Adventure, then hopped over to Disneyland to grab a bite to eat here. Our table was outside in a well shaded area with a view of Rivers of America/Tom Sawyers island. The menu is short & simple. Service was outstanding! Our server and busser were both friendly and efficient. We decided on two orders of the Melon Arugula Salad and Chicken Gumbo Soup. Both were incredibly delicious! I could not stop saying "OMG this is so good!" I don't think I've ever had cantaloupe or honeydew in my salad, but it works! Especially with the Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette. It was so refreshing after walking around Disney on a warm day! The Chicken Gumbo Soup was amazing! It's made with Tasso Ham, Andouille Sausage, Peppers, Tomatoes and Steamed Rice. All of the ingredients tasted so fresh. The spice combination was unlike any other gumbo I've had before. I'd order this again and again, but in a bowl. Cafe Orleans is a great sit down option inside Disneyland, and making a reservation through the app was super easy. You do need a reservation, but it is worth it, especially since this is one of the few places in the park where you can order alcoholic drinks. The Monte Cristo sandwich is a must try! It is battered and fried with sliced turkey, ham, and a mix of brie, swiss, and mozzarella, then finished with powdered sugar and served with seasonal preserves for dipping. It has the perfect balance of sweet and savory. We went with the pommes frites, which were crispy and came with a creamy, savory dipping sauce with a creole or blackened seasoning vibe. We also ordered the Signature Bourbon Julep, which was refreshing and paired really well with the meal! It was such a nice break from self serve food. We didn't have reservations so we had to wait for the waitlist to open up. The process wasn't too bad. Took about an hour. Service was good. It wasn't a crowded day at Disneyland, so that helped. I ordered the melon arugula salad with a side of chicken breast and my husband ordered the braised short ribs. The melon arugula salad was delicious! I had a bite of the short ribs and that was equally delicious. What missed the mark was the red velvet cake we ordered for dessert. The cake had a good flavor but it was so crumbly. I know, I know, my last review was 6 months ago, but we came back last night on a very busy Saturday and I wanted to give my review on a completely different experience from the last. We made reservations about a month in advance via the Disneyland app for 8:30, Fantasmic was scheduled for 9pm so it was perfect. If I could have done it differently I would have scheduled for 8:15 because they were running behind and were slammed. I am so glad that I asked the hostess if we could request a patio seat, I wasn't going to but my teenage daughter talked me into it, sometimes they do know better. Reservations were for 8:30 and we were called and seated around 8:45, but it was perfect because we did get a great spot right in front to view Fantasmic. The only issue I had with that was that the people standing to view the show in front of us made it hard to see the entire show, but the spot was still great and I am grateful we were seated in the patio at all. Their menu did not look the best and was very limited, there are two Alfredo pastas on there which seemed silly. Last time I had an amazing Cajun buttered chicken plate that I was dying to have again and it wasn't on the menu this time. However, my daughter said that her Alfredo was really good the last time, so she got the blackened shrimp alfredo and I got the chicken alfredo and I was more than happy with that dish. It was very flavorful and was a nice portion. My daughter loved her blackened shrimp alfredo. To make sure that we could stay a little longer to view the fireworks, we ordered the crème brûlée, which was explained to me as not being a true crème brûlée, and it was really good. I am so glad we ordered it because it was very tasty. I also want to add how amazing our waiter was. I am terrible with asking for and remembering names, but he was funny and not annoying about it, was attentive and made sure refills were made, and checked up on us frequently, and the patio was packed so I know we weren't his only table. We were so lucky to have gotten him as our waiter. We were able to have a great meal with great service while enjoying Fantasmic and fireworks. Really disappointed with Cafe Orleans this trip. I grew up coming here as a kid and it used to feel special, but this visit completely missed the magic. The service was terrible and it was obvious other customers were having issues too since one table even got the wrong check. Our food came out cold and bland, and overall Disneyland just does not feel the same anymore. A lot of rides kept breaking down after long waits and many cast members did not seem very friendly or engaged. This place is truly one of the best restaurant in Disneyland -- it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call it the best. We went for the Fantasmic dining package, and it was totally worth it. You get to enjoy dinner and watch the Fantasmic show from a VIP viewing area. After dinner at the restaurant, you can simply step outside and enjoy the show right in front of you! If you want to watch Fantasmic show from the center viewing area, you need to make a reservation at this restaurant. That's the only way to secure a center spot for the show at Disneyland. It's always busy, so even with a reservation, there may be a bit of a wait -- that's probably the only downside. But the taste of the food is outstanding. Please try the fried Monte Cristo sandwich and the Alfredo pasta :) read more

We rarely take the time to do a sit down lunch when at the Parks but today we treated ourself to our first visit to Cafe Orleans and it didn't disappoint. Especially today was pretty warm out, it was nice that we got to take a break and were seated inside to avoid the heat for a bit We ordered the regular Monte Cristo and the portion was so generous! We're so glad we shared...we opted to get the side salad option and our friend ordered a cup of gumbo, Caesar salad and garlic fries to share. Everything was delicious, awesome plating and healthy serving sizes. We also tried their bourbon julep and margarita ...both were 10/10 Would recommend but advice to share mains as they're a little on the heavy side and large in portion. 3.5 Stars Steak Frites $32 (Ribeye Round, Petite Watercress Salad and Béarnaise Sauce) Hm, this ribeye to me was more similar to sirloin. Tough to eat. Medium well on the edge and medium rare in the middle. I actually liked the yellow sauce, tasted like a lemongrass hollandaise sauce. The fries that had parsley and parmesan were good. The "salad" were dry pieces of leaves. Cajun Chicken with Mashed Potatoes $27 I actually preferred this over the steak. I wouldn't really call the sauce cajun, tasted like sweet bbq sauce. You get the whole side of the chicken that comes with the drumstick, thigh, wing and part of the breast meat. Generally pretty tender. The mashed potatoes were creamy and pretty good. The green beans were unseasoned and barely cooked. Chicken gumbo $11 The portion is tiny in a cup but this was really good. Comes with sausage as well. Mint Julep $7 was refreshing but drains quickly due to the large amount of ice. Side note: I did not try the monte cristo here but I saw a tip that you can order the "snack size" for $11 at Royal St Veranda next door and it is big and still a shareable size. Surprisingly a really cute sit down lunch. We got alcoholic beverages which was limited to 2 per person. I got beer, my friend got the Bourbon Julep which was pretty good. The salad was sooo good but I love burrata and the prosciutto was nice and crispy, nice blend of greens and the sweetness of the stone fruit just made the salad come together. The food was delicious. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine and boy was it good! The pasta tasted like authentic Italian pasta. I could taste and feel the difference in texture. Drinks came out fairly quickly however when it came to everyone's meal, I felt like we waited at least 30-40 mins for the food to come out. I had a cup of gumbo, fried and a Caesar salad. I felt like it wasn't as great as what I had remembered in the past. Some of our group had the margarita and was not impressed either. Overall, I'm in different about returning here for a meal. The braised beef is really good. I usually get it. However, the asparagus was really fibrous and most of it was inedible today. The service was ok today. It took a little longer to be serviced than normal. The ambiance is a bit loud but that's normal because it's outdoor seating and it's located in Disneyland. Cafe Orleans was a solid dinner choice during our Disneyland visit. We sat outside during sunset, and with 70-degree weather and a light breeze, the setting couldn't have been better. Our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The cup of chicken gumbo was honestly the best thing on the table. I wish I ordered just two of that. The Monte Cristo was good but just very dense. I was stuffed halfway through. My wife had the chicken and my son, the sautéed shrimp and fries option--nothing home to write about in my opinion. Let me start this by saying, the Bourbon Julep is the best drink I've had at Disneyland. Better than the options at Blue Bayou for sure, and my daughter loved her absolutely weird "Bayou Punch," garnished with gummy candies..... For a started we got the chicken gumbo which was actually fantastic. Since Blue Bayou doesn't do Monte Cristo's for dinner I ended up having to try it here, I can say it's actually better with less filling, we all agreed that the side with all the ham and cheese was overpowering compared to the thinner side. We had steak frites, We also split the Steak Frites which were totally awesome, this I would 100% order again. Probably my favorite meal in the park. I actually would've rated this meal a 5/5, if we would have not had the shrimp Alfredo. This was straight up, not good. The shrimp was way overly seasoned and equal equally overcooked. Then the Alfredo itself, the sauce was borderline tasteless, and the noodles were mush. That was a total bummer considering the quality of the other stuff. We capped this off with the coffee roulade, and this was just fine. You can get better desserts at Jolly Holiday for sure. The one thing you can't be here is the ambience at dinner time, it's an amazing experience to sit down and eat the food and watch the Mark Twain, cruising down the rivers of America. The service was OK , it did take over an hour to get our food, making the total time an hour and 45 minutes. That's a lot of wasted park time.. all in all, this one does hit value for money for being inside Disneyland and sitting down. read more

We made reservations in advance for lunch at Cafe Orleans. On the positive side, sitting on the patio is a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the park. You can watch the Mark Twain and Columbia sail by while you eat. The food is on the pricey side. The menu changes seasonally, with entrees around $22-$32. The best thing I tried here was the cup of chicken gumbo soup ($11), which was very flavorful but small. Since it's on the small bites menu, you will need something else to go with it. I paired it with the Caesar salad ($14), lacking any lemon, mustard or anchovy flavor. The Blackened Shrimp Alfredo Pasta ($28) was okay. The pasta was kind of basic, and the shrimp were not blackened with spices. My daughter was eager to try their Monte Cristo Sandwich ($25). I've never understood the appeal of this dish, served with preserves and a choice of fries or salad. The best part were the fries. The food here is always tasty. I've been coming here since I was born and honestly it hasn't changed all that much. The Pommes frites and gumbo are worth the wait. The service is usually good here but occasionally you'll get the guy who doesn't know what's in the new item even though he's served it like fifty times. The Braised Beef melted in your mouth. I was full half way through my meal. But kept eating as it was that good. We love sitting outside and enjoying the atmosphere. Just relaxing. Service is usually a 10/10. We did have a hiccup. We had a waitress and a waiter. The waitress I'm sure was busy so don't want to fault her but once seated we were not greeted for at least 15 minutes. We got seated along with a few other tables near us and they were already getting their meal by the time she came over to greet us and get the drink orders. Came in for a special Sweethearts Nite event! We didn't make a reservation ahead of time so we put our name down on the walkup waitlist at 7pm. Got in at the time they told us. We had already looked at the menu prior so we knew we wanted to get the gumbo and drinking chocolate. We also ended up trying their Shimmering Rose cocktail which had a ton of edible glitter in it and price was more than the actual meal but at least you get to keep the flute? Gumbo was delicious, wish the cup was much bigger. Didn't taste the shrimp at all in the hush puppies. Hush puppies had a very nice crunch, liken them to falafels, and since they're a bit dry, it paired well with the gumbo. I was excited for the European-style drinking chocolate but what took me by surprise was the spice in it. The chocolate was rich but quite the kick at the back of the throat like cayenne pepper. I totally did not expect that. I used the melted marshmallow to mask the spice. The brown butter madeleine crumbled very easily and got quite messy. The monte cristo was good but a lot smaller than I remembered it to be. The fries were pretty stale. The chicken alfredo was below average. I could've made a better chicken alfredo than them. Finally got a reservation to Cafe Orleans at long last and it was just... so mid. The menu leaves much to be desired, 4 of the 6 entrees are essentially the same things: you can get a battered and fried monte cristo sandwich or a battered and fried triple cheese monte cristo sandwich. Or you can get a chicken Alfredo pasta or a shrimp Alfredo pasta. This essentially leaves you with 4 options for your entree, including the plant based one. I also didn't like how dairy heavy everything is. Nothing really read as New Orleans to me either aside from the gumbo so of course we opted for that alongside our bourbon mint julep. These were good but nothing to write home about. Of the three gumbos offered around the park (here, Tiana's Palace, and Jazz Kitchen), this one was definitely third place. There just wasn't anything special about it. Idk, if I were coming to Disney for just a few days and looking for a sit down spot, I would skip Cafe Orleans! I made a reservation for 2 for dinner prior to our Disneyland trip. I checked in online on the Disneyland app and we were called back shortly. My sister and I sat on the outside patio. I ordered the Cajun chicken and she got the blackened shrimp Alfredo pasta. The food kept us full for the rest of our night. It's pricy at about $20-30 each dish but it's nice to have a place to sit and eat a hearty meal after walking around Disneyland all day. We were able to snag a waitlist walk-in reservation, which was a nice surprise. The food and drinks were solid, especially the Holiday Sangria and the cheese Monte Cristo, both of which were very good and hit the spot. Unfortunately, upon arrival I had a bloody nose, and the situation was a bit inconvenient since they didn't have paper napkins available and the restroom is located outside of the restaurant around the corner. That part was less than ideal. That said, the experience definitely ended on a high note. We had a great view of the fireworks along with the mini water show near the Mark Twain boat, which added some Disney magic to the meal. We had a very disappointing experience with the host staff during our recent visit to Cafe Orleans at Disneyland. I managed to secure a Friday 8:20 PM reservation, which was difficult to get. We intentionally booked later since we heard the restaurant can be a great place to enjoy dinner and possibly catch the fireworks afterward. At check-in we were told we needed to wait briefly, which was completely fine. When our table was called, I politely asked if it might be possible to sit inside, since it was a chilly February evening and we had two children under 5 with us. The hostess told us the only option was the patio or we could wait another 30 minutes for an indoor table. Since it was already late for the kids, we accepted the patio table. Unfortunately we were seated directly behind a large tree, which completely blocked the view. When I asked if another table with a more open view might be available, the hostess (who identified herself as Karen) responded that it would be another 30-minute wait and added that they are "a restaurant, not a show viewing experience." I completely understand fireworks viewing is not guaranteed, but the tone felt unnecessarily dismissive and unwelcoming. To be fair, our waiter was excellent -- friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the meal. The food itself was average. We ordered the gumbo, which was just okay. The kids' chicken tenders were extremely hard and over-fried, and my child didn't want to eat them. However, dessert was the highlight -- the crème brûlée tart and lemon cheesecake were both delicious. Shortly after we were seated, several other tables opened up within about 5-10 minutes in areas that would have worked better for our group, even though we had been told it would be a 30-minute wait. Later when the fireworks started, I briefly held my child so she could see while we were finishing dinner. Host staff approached again saying she couldn't stand on my lap or the chair. When I stepped closer to the fence for a moment so she could see, another hostess wearing a mask immediately told me I couldn't stand there either, even though the restaurant was nearly empty and we weren't blocking anyone. Disneyland is known for its magical and welcoming atmosphere, but unfortunately the hospitality we experienced at Cafe Orleans did not reflect that spirit. There are many great dining options in Disneyland and Downtown Disney, and based on this visit this is not one we would return to. read more

We've never ate here before and finally tried it during the Disney Run weekend. We were lucky and was able to find a reservation slot for our party of 8. On the same day, we were able to change the time to a dinner time - so lucky. Checked in through the mobile before arriving and received a response pretty quickly that our table was being set up. When we arrived and checked in with the host, we waited for about 5 minutes for them to take our party to our table. Our server greeted us and we had water ready. Restaurant was clean and lighting was dimmed. Very New Orleans and the atmosphere was great! We quickly ordered and our cocktails and beer came out quickly. Food came out soon after. Everyone's food was tasty, except for the Caesar salad. Our friend said it was drenched in salad dressing. Besides that, food was delicious. I am a huge sucker for french fries, and really loved their fries here with the aioli dipping sauce. Loved it so much the first time, came back the next weekend with my daughter during our trip to Disneyland! First time visit at Cafe Orleans. Our server was Alfonso. He, along with the entire serving staff CMs were fantastic! The outdoor ambience was very easygoing and peaceful. A lot of eye candy for youngsters. Now for the cuisine. 1) The Cajun chicken was very, very delicious and tender. The skin was thin and crispy. Cafe Orlean never seizes to fail --there's a reason why its been my favorite restaurant inside Disneyland for the past decade . I booked a Sunday (12/15) reservation at 1pm through the Disney app about a month in advanced . We checked-in and our host led us right away to our GORGEOUS outdoor patio table right in the middle up against the gate exterior, so we had a fun view of Tom Sawyer's island . I highly recommend reserving a time frame in advanced as I saw many groups get denied at the entrance as there was no more room on their 'walk-up waitlist' . We were greeted right away by our amazing server who handled our drinks and our food . I typically go for the OG Monte Cristo sandwich as its nostalgic to me, but today I decided to try something new . Here's what we ate: CHICKEN GUMBO BOWL: Seasoned so well, with chunks of ham and chicken . The rice complimented the saltiness beautifully . I should've ordered two !! Highly recommend ! CESAR SALAD: So fresh, so basic, so bougie . I love the homemade dressing --so flavorful, yet so delicate . The crispy croutons were made from scratch-- golden, crisp, and garlicky . My friend made fun of me for ordering a salad at a restaurant, but I promise you... its sooooo good !!! Even a salad-hater would love this lol . BLACKENED SHRIMP ALFREDO: The shrimp were plump, juicy, and cooked perfectly . The shrimp also had a nice cajun spice kick to it, like a level 3/10 spice . The noodles itself had a nice chew, but the sauce wasn't hitting for me . I felt like it needed more ooomp.... when in doubt, add more parmesan cheese pleeeeese . BEEF BOURGNION: Such a decadent bite . I really liked the presentation . The mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and caramelized onions were a dream . Although the beef was tender and super flavorful, I couldn't help to state the fact that it was a tiny bit on the drier side . I think if they served this dish with a side of au ju, it would've been next level ! ROASTED CHICKEN: I only got to try a bite off of my friend's dish, but not bad ! Like the beef bougnion, this also would be great with extra sauce . My friend said he enjoyed it! GET THE POMME FRITES . Huge garlic chunks with thin crisp exterior . Fluffy on the outside, so tasty . I do wish their spicy mayo was more fun, but hey-- beggars can't be choosers lol . BERRY CREME BRULEE: Not too sweet . Nice and creamy . Berries give it a nice tart balance . Totally would re-order !! BOURBON MINT JULEP: A classic . You always have to order at least one while dining here ! Overall, we had yet another amazing lunch . The vibes are welcoming, food is exquisite, and service is always wonderful . If you've never dined here, you definitely should ! I always tell first-timers to get the beignets and share a Monte Cristo sandwich as that's their signature . The sandwich is like a sweet/savory sandwich-donut hybrid thats filled with salty ham and dusted with powdered sugar served with a berry dipping sauce .... enough said . We've dined at The Blue Bayou and Tiana's Place (all different vibes, and you should dine at each place at least once), but I still think Cafe Orleans comes out on top ! read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Disneyland. It's always good to have a reservation and reservations get booked out 60 days in advance. We decided on this trip only a couple of weeks ago and lucked out by checking constantly for canceled reservations. Checking back regularly is a really good thing to do because Disneyland charges if you don't cancel your reservation at least 2 hours before. This means if you wait till the day of or the day before you have a pretty good chance of getting one of those canceled reservations We were seated on the patio ( sorry no pictures ), which is great because you can see everybody walking back and forth between New Orleans Square and Tiana's Country. They do have an indoor dining room. Our server was fantastic. When he heard us saying we were going to split each other's entrees so we each got half, he offered to bring us a couple of plates. He ordered the beef bourguignon, the ham and cheese Monte Cristo sandwich with garlic fries, auntie garlic Cajun chicken. Everything was so good - - definitely the quality of a high-end restaurant outside of the park. People tend to complain about the cost of food at Disneyland, but I'm not quite sure I understand it. My husband and I go out to dinner frequently and There are a whole lot of places that charge more than Disneyland for the same food. I definitely recommend Cafe Orleans, with a reservation, of course, if you are on a trip to Disneyland. It was cold today but if it's hot out, this is a great place to sit in the shade and get refills on your sodas. read more

Underrated for sure! Way better than the food at the blue bayou with a better chance of eating here! The Cajun butter chicken was so flavorful and perfectly cooked! The mash was so silky and seasoned well and the green beans were garlicky and delicious! The waiter was very nice and funny! Great place to relax after a lot of walking read more
