Love this place! Went their with the lil woman. Had the BBQ wings for starter excellent sauce and just the right amount of kick. Lil woman had the tortilla soup nice portion tasted great. I realize many businesses are experiencing change as a result of COVID however, every step of our experience was terrible. We were never served our dinner, after an hour wait to sit (we were told 20 minutes) and another hour waiting for food. We ordered drinks and received something other than we ordered and no one to ask what we were actually served. The guacamole was a roughly chopped plate of avocado and cilantro tossed together. After calling for our waiter, he skirted by on deaf ears. The one star is for our children being fed and that's about it. After a long day in Yellowstone we were ready for a good dinner. Everything in West Yellowstone was packed so we decided to come closer to our hotel and found Cafe Sabor right next door. Being from Arizona we felt a bit uncertain about Mexican food in Idaho! We were very happy with our meals all around! This is NOT a chain ... but there are multiple locations in the Utah/Idaho area (st George, Logan, Idaho falls, etc). Same great menu at all locations. This was a welcome surprise during our family trip to Yellowstone. Located minutes away from our cabin in Island Park , we went to dinner here twice during our 4-day trip ! Affordable option and good food with friendly service. They also offer patio dining option which makes a great experience on a sunny day by the water. Definitely an oasis given the location. I went to this spot because my sister and I were staying at the springhill suites across the bridge. I went to check out the food menu at the springhill suites and it was very limited, so they recommended cafe sabor and also gave me a card for a free appetizer! We walked over there. For our app, we ordered shrimp ceviche. I feel like this dish had potential but was missing something. It could have had way more flavors and toppings. It wasn't all mixed together, and there was no lime juice type liquid in the bottom like I usually taste at other restaurants. The shrimp itself was good though. For our entree's, I ordered two chicken enchiladas and the chicken tasted like it was reheated, the cheese and enchilada sauce was good. My sister ordered the fish tacos; the fish itself was a bit mushy, but otherwise good. As far as the service goes, it was good and they were very attentive. read more

We stayed at the new place across the river that opened a month ago for a week the last week of July. It was great and convenient to be able to walk a few minutes over to Cafe Sabor. My kids are picky eaters and absolutely loved the tacos, Spanish rice, chips and salsa at Cafe Sabor. We ate here three times during our week stay across the river because they loved the tacos so much! I loved the chips and salsa, tacos al pastor and chimichangas that I ordered during our visits. On Tuesday, we came in for a late lunch so there was no wait (it was a cooler day/high 60's, around 2pm, and we sat outside). Beautiful views of the river and the new place we were staying at across the river. There were short waits (5 minutes) when we went for dinner on Wednesday and Friday nights. Again, beautiful views while dining outside. Excellent customer service all 3 visits last week and great food! Thank you to Freddy and his team (Megan, Jackson-he also helped us and provided excellent customer service at the ice cream parlor across the river earlier in the week). Let me start by saying the server was great! The food, not so much. Wife had the shrimp fajitas and the shrimp were good but the beans, rice, and tortillas were pretty lame. I had a 3 item combo and basically after tasting everything, we both agreed this was a 5 out of 10 place. The music was geared more for the younger crowd and mostly not fitting for the average age of those in the restaurant, nor very fitting for a Mexican restaurant. I Don't need to go back. read more

The food was fine, but obviously not authentic Mexican food and overpriced. The salsa had no kick and was watery. The cheese on my nephew's nachos was burnt. However, the real problem lies in the restaurant's hygiene and service. The bathrooms were disgusting. I purposefully did not use the restrooms and had to hold it until we made it home. While there were a couple of nice waitresses, the staff seemed hurried and had no charisma. And yet, with all their hurry they seemed to have forgotten our table completely. After they served us our food, we waited and watched as other tables that came in after us got their checks and left. We asked several times for our check so we could leave, but as we sat waiting, we realized they had yet again forgotten about us. Such an odd experience and we were there for only five minutes. After walking into front door. Zero greetings. I stood there while the hostess was zoned out on the TV. And the owner talking on the phone.. I said hello? Are you seating people? She said yes, then continued to watch TV. Meanwhile, the owner is talking to a customer who happened to have had food poisoning from day before. Two red flags. We bolted as soon as I heard that. The owner seemed to have no sense of her surroundings. First take the conversations where customers don't hear that stuff. Lastly teach your hostess to greet people when they come through the door. Cafe Sabor did not disappoint! We called as we were driving back from West Yellowstone to see if they could fit our large group of 13 in, and they were able to get us in no problem. When we arrived the table was already set up! Our server was very friendly and took good care of us all. Food was great, recommend the Tacos al Carbon! Appetizers and drinks were great too. The owner was actually in house and came by to thank us for coming in as well. Overall great dinner and great service! Definitely recommend if you are in the Island Park area. read more

This place should be called Cafe Sin Sabor (Cafe without flavor). I admit, the first bite of my burrito pork Verde was very good, but I think it was because I was so hungry and we had to wait forever for the food. By the 3rd bite I was eating it to get rid of it and I was hungry. My kids got tacos and burrito kids menu items and none of them would eat them because they "tasted weird" in kids talk. The 1st night we arrived there were 5 of us. It was very busy but orders were very quickly served hot and yummy! The 2nd time we went there were 9 of us and everyone ordered something different. All the orders were great and were served hot and yummy! Our waiter visited with us a bit and he really was doing great seeing as where he came from Turkey and had only been in the US for 17 days! Great job! Our only complaint were there were 2 wet dogs allowed to roam through the dining room to the outdoor seating area. We were seated quickly it wasn't that busy, but we were forgotten about for 10 mins.We were about to leave and then Corey M. came over. He was FABULOUS!!!! Quick, and personable, he didn't even write our order down and got everything perfect. He is the only reason I changed my mind about this place. Food was pretty good, huge portions and reasonable price. In all honesty in this review I only have 2 complaints. #1 The staff is trying to juggle so many jobs at once. I saw 3 servers and they were the bussers as well. The manager or greeter avoided us after leaving us in our booth for 10 mins. but checked on all the other patrons. #2 the bathroom, the toilet is against the wall. Maybe turn it so it fits in the corner. I skipped breakfast just to have lunch at this place based on the opinions of others who had been there and raved about it. FIne tune the little issues with the staff doing to many jobs and this place is great for a small business. read more
