I was in the area on a business trip and checked Yelp for a place to eat. This was within walking distance to my hotel, so I thought I would give it a shot. I was there a little early for dinner, so I had the place to myself. I chose to sit outside as there was a little bit of a breeze, even though it was warm. The waiter came out and took my drink order, explained the specials and then later brought out seasoned pita bread with balsamic and oil. I ordered a caprese salad to start with. I was disappointed in the quality of the tomatoes. They were not a deep red and were lighter colored, just like you would get at any grocery store, and did not have any flavor. The basil, mozzarella and dressing were very good, however. For the price ($12), I was not that impressed. 2.5 / 5 (3 if it was several dollars cheaper) For my main dish I ordered the red curry risotto with seafood. It came with oysters, mussels and shrimp. This dish was excellent and worth every single bit of the $22 I paid. I ate way past being full, it was that good. 4.5 / 5 Service: There were at least two times when I had to wait quite a while (over 10 minutes) with an empty water glass - one of my pet peeves. I do tend to drink quite a bit of water with my meals and a sign of good service, in my opinion, is a glass that is never empty. The waiter was friendly enough and did a good job answering my questions about menu items, however. 2 / 5 I really want to give this place 4 stars, but I just can't with the short coming in service and quality / value of the caprese. So I decided to give this place a try for a early Valentines dinner. It was kind of hidden which i personally found to be quite interesting. We hung out at the bar for a little bit as we waited for a table. The Bartenders were very friendly and very quick to serve us. The scenery and decor was amazing. We sat on the patio, ever though it was raining and it was covered, It was still pretty nice. Our server was a gentleman named Dennis who not only was extremely friendly, but described the dishes so spot on. We ordered everything he recommended. We had the Pesto Pasta with grilled chicken which was amazing. And the Surf Turf. For the amount of food that we got, the price definitely surprised me. I came here for Restaurant Week, so things were a little hectic. Seating on the patio felt a little cramped. The couple next to us joked that we were late to dinner as we were seated. Seating inside didn't look so bad, especially if you're lucky enough to get one of the round corner tables. The food was delicious. The SO and I had hummus and a salad to start, entrees of red curry risotto and lamb shank, and the sorbet medley and tiramisu for dessert. Portions are generous. That lamb shank was seriously the size of my head. The meat was nice and tender, practically falling off the bone. The sauce they dressed it with had sundried tomatoes, caramelized onions and some other spices that I have since forgotten (but I will never forget the joy that they gave me---so much that I temporarily ignored the fact that I was eating something fluffy and adorable, I'm so sorry Shari Lewis!). The risotto was fragrant although I could barely taste the curry. The desserts were particularly memorable. I am not a fan of sorbet at all, but that night they had mango and a berry sorbet that was just perfect. It was fresh and fruity without being too sour. The tiramisu was also very good. Every mouthful was the perfect amount of cream, cake, sweet and the slightest touch of bitter to wake up my taste buds. Everything was so good. We slipped into a food coma shortly after. Coming from Colorado, we entered through the back alley way up a few flights of stairs and were a little confused if we entered into the wrong restaurant. There were no hosts to greet us, and the servers just walked right past us as we were standing next to an unattended hostess stand. Finally, we had to flagged down a server and she said the hostess will be right with us. We decided to dine inside instead of the patio area since it was a hot day. It wasn't much cooler inside though. The tables were also really close to each other so it became awkward when you are forced to eavesdropped into other people's conversations. The lunch menu was different than their website. We ended up ordering the Prosciutto Panini with fries and the Red Curry Risotto that was not on the menu. It was nice that they were very accommodating. We were served with some complimentary garlic flat breads before our food came. We chowed down three baskets-ful since we skipped breakfast that day. They were pretty tasty, although we could've just been really hungry. Then our food arrived. The presentations were very appealing with all the vibrant colors. The Red Curry Risotto had clams and mussels around the side and some shrimps on top. The flavors were bold and delicious. Savory with a little spicy kick. The texture was more soupy and less creamy than I imagined, but still yummy in its own way. Loved the onions and spinach that was in the rice. The portion was decent for the price ($23). The Prosciutto Panini was standard. It was a bit dry and hard. Tough to have a good balanced bite when the prosciutto is all stuck together. The bread was toasty and good. Nothing impressive. Maybe shouldn't have order a panini at a Mediterranean restaurant. Overall, I don't mind coming back for the Risotto again and this grilled vegetable platter that our very close neighbor ordered which looks very good. read more

We sat outside which is a very romantic atmosphere. There were lights strung across up above and the weather was so nice with a slight breeze on a summer night. We got complimentary bread sticks that were kind of chewy and tasted slightly burnt. The texture was different from the normal breadsticks I'm used to. I got the Santorini Cioppino which was comprised of a whole lot of muscles, clams, calamari, and fish mixed with a tomato sauce. It was good! I added linguini for $2. It also came with garlic bread but it was a huge disappointment. It was hard and was difficult to pull apart because it was so chewy. Service was good, atmosphere was great, and food was okay. Pleasantly surprised by this cafe, which is for the most part hidden away from Oldtown Pasadena. Good thing Bud (my friend, who will probably read this so I must name her!) spotted its signage, or else I would have been lost for a while trying to find it. Its entrance is just a door, which leads upstairs to the actual restaurant. Since it was a nice (but very hot) day out, we sat outside. - Calamari salad: A very generous portion of grilled calamari served on a bed of greens. It was lemony and creamy (but not in a heavy way) and a great appetizer. I don't see this on their website, but I think it was ~$10 (if I remember correctly). - Stuffed butternut squash: A great dish if you're vegetarian. A variety of sauteed vegetables mixed with rice. I had a bite of this and it tasted better than it looked. - Red curry seafood risotto: I really liked this dish! The shrimp, mussels, and clams were cooked perfectly and the curry was very flavorful. I really liked the spinach in it as well. I think I tasted cheese(?) which gave it a great texture and consistency but made it a rather heavy dish. Service was attentive on a quiet Saturday. Sorry to say, I didn't like the space much. Steep stairs prohibited disabled customers. We had a large group, and at first they wanted to serve us at a table in the sun on the sidewalk next to the street! Because our disabled coworker didn't end up coming, they quickly made room for us upstairs, and did a nice job. I cant' fault the service, which was excellent, especially for such a big crowd. I wasn't happy with our few choices on a fixed menu, however. The salmon was juicy and hot, but the black lentils underneath it were unappetising and the bechamel sauce lacked flavor. Plus, there was no acorn squash or currents to be found, so we asked for some. To their credit, they created 3 dishes of the stuff that was supposed to be under our salmon and it was very good. But by that time, the salmon was finished and hardly anyone ate it. Flourless Chocolate case was very good, as was their coffee. I might go back, but would order something Italian, for sure. read more

We've been here a couple of times and both times we've had a great experience. They offer Italian and Mediterranean fusion, and the quality of the food has been consistent. They bring out bread, but you have to ask for olive oil and vinegar for dipping. I would recommend making a reservation if you are going for dinner because they tend to get busy, especially out in the patio area. First time we dined here wasn't as loud as this last time, but it wasn't too too bad. There is a parking garage literally across the street from the restaurant, which is convenient. For desert, we got the Affogato and the tiramisu. The food was good and three dishes that really stood out for me were the grilled calamari salad, the mushroom pizza, and the Affogato. The combination of the grilled cuttlefish and the tangy salad dressing was enjoyable. the pizza was simple yet wonderful, and the Affogato delicious. We ordered the octopus salad and it was amazing. The salad tastes so fresh and the octopus is perfectly cooked-chewy/tender in the inside with a light crisp on the outside. My husband and I had a wonderful experience here. We sat at in their rooftop patio and it's just as nice as the photos you'll see online. We started with the Borek and Spanakopita and the Grilled Calamari (not breaded). Both appetizers were phenomenal. I wish they would bottle the dressing on the calamari--so good!
