I had been wanting to try Cafe Sbisa for about a year. I finally decided it was happening for my birthday weekend and booked the reservation. We were a party of three for brunch. We lucked up and got to see a live band while there. The atmosphere is very nice, classic New Orleans. Our waitress introduced herself and provided several recommendations. I ordered bottomless mimosas and the Bayou Crabcakes and Eggs, and they were perfect! Everything tasted great. I sampled a bit of the Eugene Omelette, and it was so flavorful. Those recommendations were accurate!!

    The bar

It had been four long years since our last visit to New Orleans and we were very glad to return to our favorite dining spot. Our ride share could only get us close to Cafe Sbisa due to Decatur street in their vicinty being a construction project - only a few more steps (just wish we had brought an umbrella with us!) Our server Kevin was friendly and diligent. We enjoyed some finely prepared cocktails and my wife's favorite dish (herb roasted chicken) was good as remembered. Though an old structure, the interior is warm and presents a very calm environment. A perfect place for a couples dinner away from the hustle and bustle that dominates much of the French Quarter.

Came here December 13th 2024 close by our timeshare in the Eastern section of French quarter far away from canal Street. I believe they are closed Monday through Thursday so we came here on a Friday. Luxurious surroundings and excellent ambience. Definitely a high-end restaurant. The $20 blue crab cakes were just okay as could have had more crab and less filler. Not as flavorful as other places. The $30 Courtbouillon was a creole bouillabaisse with fish ,gulf shrimp, crawfish tails and mussels in a spicy Creole sauce. Wife normally does not like mussels but ate the entire dish down to the last spoonful, it was that good. The $36 trout Eugene came with fillet of trout covered with Louisiana shrimp, crawfish tails, and crab in a champagne cream sauce, which gave the white fish added flavor .Probably the best trout I have ever tasted. As we were leaving I saw musical instruments and piano for a band setup .We came on a Friday but the band only plays on Saturdays

Shout out to my Yelp friend Jurel for his awesome review of this establishment! I've been to New Orleans many times and had never heard of this restaurant prior to reading Jurel's review. We arrived about noon on a Sunday for the jazz brunch. We didn't have reservations and were seated promptly. To start, I ordered a sidecar. It was fabulous! Sidecars are so simple, yet so many restaurants mess them up. The cocktail was very strong as well, which I didn't mind at all. I wanted to try everything, so I got a few dishes. First, I started with the seafood gumbo. It was absolutely delicious. It was seasoned very well and a few dashes of tobasco took it over the top. I also ordered the oysters sbisa which are fried oysters topped with cream spinach, hollandaise and bacon. And lastly I got the shrimp remoulaude that was served over fried green tomatoes. I enjoyed everything about my experience here. The jazz band was amazing, the staff were very attentive and the food was delicious.

Really authentic Cajon. As one young server said "...it's like going to your Louisiana grandma's house...in a uniquely NOLA setting." For instance. Take a look at these mirrors. These mirrors today would be a fortune to replace. Then noticed the discoloration. That is from storms and water and humidity. This is the real deal. This is as authentic as you can get. The lighting. The ceiling is 10 if I remember correctly. The bar, magnificent. The drinks, terrific. This is a great place to go before a good jazz performance. I took an Uber in the rain from a very lovely woman. Dropped me off to my favorite jazz place 10 minutes away. Avoid all cabs. Ouch. If you look at my pictures, you'll see what a difference this original recipe in the kitchen results in . And you don't have to make reservations. Just go.

Honestly, everything about this place was great! Our table was ready right on time, it was clean, the staff was top-notch, and the food and cocktails were excellent with so many options to choose from. The ambiance was a bit moody and dim, but very welcoming. I'd been wanting to try this spot after seeing it recommended in the NOLA food group on Facebook, and it truly did not disappoint. My friend and I went with the Coolinary menu, and it was fantastic. I love a refreshing fruit salad, and the catfish--both blackened and fried--were equally delicious. Every single dish had so much flavor: the étouffée, the grits, all of it!!! The dessert was also great! The bourbon milk punch was rich but tasty, and the pecan pie with ice cream hit the spot. I also really enjoyed their sidecar cocktail. I'll definitely be back to try more, and I'll be recommending this place...especially to visitors of New Orleans. It does our cuisine sooo well!

Walking by we heard some soft, jazzy blues being played and sung, that drew us in. Notice a ribeye steak and eggs on the brunch menu, but it was 830 at night. Mildred the hostess/owner accommodated our request. What a treat after a full day of walking in and out of loud music venues to come to this peaceful, elegant restaurant with an upscale vibe. The steak and eggs were excellent Highly recommend this spot for brunch with the bottomless mimosas. Bill our waiter was pleasant and professional

We were able to quickly get same day reservations for a large group (10) which was nice since. We were celebrating a friend's 50th birthday and plans changed at the last minute. For most of us, it was our first time at Cafe Sbisa though I had heard many great things previously. The service was great and so was the food. It took a little longer for the main dishes to come out but with such a large group that's to be expected. We were vibing with cocktails, music from the LIVE band, appetizers, and great conversations from friends. There was nothing I ate that I didn't enjoy and were even able to have enough food to take some home! To top it off, it's one of the longest standing restaurants in the French Quarters and Black owned!

I made a last minute reservation to Cafe Sbisa and was glad I did. Upon entering, the live jazz band contributed to their lovely ambiance. The service was immaculate and the wait staff were attentive and helpful in their recommendations. I had the Bayou Crabcake and Eggs. The crabcake was very flavorful and rich, and not over filled with breading. There were large pieces of crab inside. My only regret was that I would have preferred a little bit less of the hollandaise sauce. The Chicken and Waffles were amazing. The chicken was exceptionally seasoned, and the waffle had a very light sweet potato taste. I truly enjoyed this jazz brunch.

We had an amazing dinner tonight, from the delicious food and drinks to the great service by Melanie! And to top it off fabulous live music. Best food we have had since we arrived three days ago.

All I can saw is WOW. Restaurant is near French Market in a beautiful old building (I read was established in 1899). We sat up on 2nd floor overlooking the bar and in full view of the George Dureau mural. The food was phenomenal, lamb perfectly cooked, grits creamy with subtle smoked flavor, trout flaky with scrumptious shrimp/crawfish/crab topping (to die for). To top it off we got a complimentary cake/ice cream for birthday celebration. My man is not a big dessert eater, but I couldn't tell from him eating it all (it was very tasty). Service was top tier, attentive and friendly staff.

Unfortunately, my husband's surf and turf arrived with a very undercooked steak. These things happen, so he politely asked for the steak to be replaced. Instead of resolving the issue, the manager came to the table and was surprisingly rude, engaging in an argument rather than offering a solution. The interaction was embarrassing and unprofessional, and my husband ultimately left hungry because the manager refused to replace the steak. Despite this, we were still required to pay the full $40 for the dish. Handling an undercooked steak should be a straightforward matter for management, not an ordeal that ruins a guest's dinner and overall experience.

Trout Eugene with champagne cream sauce. So damn yummy.

I've never had crawfish and seeing it was crawfish season we were destined to be here. We built out our own seafood boil, which included, 1lb shrimp head off, 2 soft shell crab clusters, 1lb crawfish, corn, potato, and sausage. Let's just say we left with a pretty big leftovers box We ordered the hot house flavor and do not regret it one bit! Our server was so kind to show us how to peel and eat the crawfish and honestly it was so fun!! I will definitely be back next time in New Orleans!! One quick note I will say that I learned from a local that I wish I knew before this feast (And you should double check with staff if this info is correct). Most seafood boil places in the area when they have headless shrimp it is farmed and brought in from outside retailers where if you get head-on it's from local ships in the area/fresh caught. Apparently they've been struggling and if you want to support New Orleans local fisherman then go for the head-on shrimp. Again double check with staff if their head-on shrimp is local cuz I learned this information after visiting.

Hot N Cajun With no seated tables available when I arrived…read moreat Hot'n Cajun Boil House on Iberville Street in New Orleans, I happily accepted a seat at the bar. Behind the bar, Sandy mixed me a Summer Peach (Absolute Vodka, real peach, sweet tea, fresh lemon, $14) and provided the bib and gloves I likely would need if in fact I wanted to enjoy a crawfish boil. Of the dozens of restaurants I've visited in New Orleans, rare is the menu that includes a crawfish boil. Hot'n Cajun has it. I asked the barkeep Sandy B. if it was still crawfish season, and she assured me that it was. So I ordered 3 pounds of boiled crawfish (including potatoes and corn on the cob, $25.99), asked that the seasoning be "medium", and Sandy brought me a Model ($9) with a neat Maker's Mark ($12). The experience was pretty close to what I remember we'd find if invited to a neighbor's crawfish boil. Three pounds sounds like a lot, but the yield is more like half a pound, at most. So I put the gloves and bib on and started in on the crawfish. Nice presentation, and very good, fresh crawfish.
