We ate in and Alisha was our server. She did a good job taking our order and keeping us happy. We ate Mozzarella sticks for appetizer and they were run of the mill like any where else.. Not bad, not stand out. But the entrees were really good. The wife ate Chicken Rollatini, and I decided to order the "pan" pizza (Known as Sicilian deep dish) as I had their New York Style pepperoni delivered 2 days earlier (which was awesome as well). This place is OK. Giving it a 3 rating is kind of generous, the last time we came they were very busy and service was a little slow. They seem to have new management and I appreciate that someone came by the table to say hi but they just need to make the food better. The rolls taste more like pastries and the dishes I've had are nothing special. It is BYOB and we came with a coupon so that's why I'm rounding up to 3 stars. As for atmosphere, they have a cheesy sort of vibe going on with fake pergolas and painted walls, mixed with the weird tv screens displaying specials and fun facts about Italy. We ate here tonight and it was really great! The decor is cute and feels like a mom and pop kind of place. Alicia was our server and she was friendly and helpful. Came here on a recommendation and I was pleasantly surprised. The menu, pricing and service is pretty much exactly like all the other Italian/Pizza joints around but Sicilia has 2 things going for it: Taste Decor My litmus test for any pizza is simple - order a large, plain cheese pie. These guys passed that test. It had ton of cheese, a very well-seasoned sauce an the crust was not thick, had a slight crunch and a great flavor. (5 demerits however for cooking on a screen instead of directly on the stone) The decor demonstrates 2 things - someone knows how to decorate and someone isn't afraid to spend money. They've done a great job of expressing the ambiance of an Italian Cafe as I would imagine it (having never been to Italy) The restaurant is in a strip mall on the NE corner of Matlock and Harris. They're BYOB as well. I'm looking forward to going back. read more

The decor is really nice, you can tell they spent some real money and imagination in the design. The food is just as good as the place looks. We ordered a mushroom appetizer that was soaked in Olive oil, garlic and covered in Mozzerela cheese that was fantastic. We then had the pizza. A plain cheese pizza was absolutely delicious. We went in with a group of 9 people. One couple had been before, but the rest had not. Fairly typical pizza/pasta place with a familiar menu. A lot of the same menu items prepared similarly to Nomi's in Arlington. This place is a little more formally decorated than the aforementioned place. The service was great for our largish group. Everyone was pleased with their choices. The baked pastas were all generously portioned, the salads were crisp & fresh and the bread was great. My wife and I agreed that it should become a regular spot for us - close to home and with a lot of choices we like. We need to return and try a variety. Portions tip the scales to a fair 3 rating here, but on the whole the name says it all: a simple restaurant, aiming at a clientele that doesn't know the difference between a trattoria, cafe, or bistro... with the Sicilia truncation looking to spur on some Italian nuance. The menu, as you could imagine, errs on the creamy-bready end of the spectrum of American-Italian fare. Decor lacks tastefulness, with a random couch sitting in the middle of the eatery. Sort of like a local Olive Garden, if you will, with an assortment of "vineyard" bells and whistles. Surprisingly the Chicken Rollatini came with a tender chicken breast encasing melty mozzarella. More disappointing was the Tortellini Michelangelo, as the bacon tasted of deli ham and the sauce lacked a fresh punch. Again, you cannot complain with a $10 meal of cheese filled pasta. With 3 locations, Cafe Sicilia seems to be making ends meet somehow, but I can imagine that the Groupon model they are pursuing demonstrates some level of desperation. It might be helpful to pare down the menu a bit and concentrate on what they do well... but my guess is that this type of institution necessitates pleasing every type of diner. read more

This place is just around the corner from my place and its been on my list to try since they opened. So today was the day. Went in after church and there was not a huge lunch crowd. They had a pretty good lunch special, reasonably priced, good sizes portion, a salad and a drink. The service was good. They were very sweet and personable. The food was ok. I ordered the chicken parm and the chicken did not seem like it was freshly fried. So i didn't each much of the chicken. The pasta and red sauce was ok. We love cafe Sicilia!! Our go to spot when we're craving Italian. The pizza is amazing and we always get the garlic bread with cheese. My favorite is the chicken parmigiana with Alfredo sauce. The chicken is crispy, and exactly what I'm looking for. Blows Olive Garden out of the water!! I will say though, the servers are attentive and nice but a little forgetful. One time I had started my water with a blue cup, and I got a refill and noticed the table across from me suddenly received a blue cup and mine was now white... with a straw already in it. It happens. Another time we ordered our meal for there, and placed an order for a pizza to take home for the kiddies and the server said he'd place the order close to when we finished our meal, then he brought us our check and told us to have a good night. We tried this place out bc it was new, had great reviews and, always had cars in the lot. I honestly can't understand why. My husband had the lasagna with 2 meatballs on the side, just in case it wasn't meaty. It had almost no meat in it. It didn't have much pasta either. It was like a big clump of greasy cheese! The meatballs weren't good either - greasy. I had "pick your pasta" - angel hair pasta with Alfredo sauce, grilled chicken & shrimp. The pasta was dry and in need of more sauce. The chicken was whisper thin & dry, but flavorful, shrimp was ok, not much flavor. Overall, very bland. My son had the house salad - iceberg lettuce & 2 tomato slices and, a pizza with pepperoni and olives. Pizza was also dry and needed more sauce, not much flavor but, the crust was very good. The marinara and pink sauce that they talked up before I made my order were bland and lacking. The pink sauce made no contribution to the flavor of the dish that I ordered and for something drowned in mushrooms - yes, drowned in mushrooms, not sauce - you'd expect more flavor. Instead the food was just kind of there. There was no impact. Nothing that made me go "wow". The same applied to the dishes that my girlfriend and her mother got. As for the service, the staff seemed to place more focus on the older couples and larger parties. We were ignored for a majority of the evening and we only got a refill once. It was empty, but the services was great. The prices were good for lunch. The bread and soup was awesome, my favorite part. Of course, you can have unlimited amounts. My wife loves Italian food so I thought I would give this place a try since it had a Groupon to try it out. My wife got Chicken Alfredo and I got Veal Parmigiana. Pasta was over cooked and sauce was very bland. The chicken had a strange taste The best part of my dish was the cheese. For an appetizer I ordered Stuffed Mushrooms. Most of the mushrooms were empty, no cheese, and I could not identify what little stuffing were in the smallest mushrooms I have ever seen Sadly, I talked my wife into getting a Groupon too, so now we are committed to trying it again. We are going to a different location next time and going to try the pizza. Hopefully it will be palatable??? I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! Update: apparently the reason my wife's chicken didn't taste right is because it must have been bad. She woke up in the middle of the night as sick as she could be. But after throwing up everything she ate, she was fine. I guess we won't be using that other Groupon after all. $10 isn't worth the risk of food poisoning! Found this place with Yelp, and then found a Groupon to go along with it. Score! Ok, this place LOOKS like a casual dining place in a strip mall, but the food far surpasses the image as you walk up. They first gave us some of the most fabulous, homemade garlic rolls! Huge, fresh, and delicious! My Mom and I each had the seafood fettuccine, one with alfredo, one with pink sauce ($13.25). Both were fabulous, but I actually liked her pink sauce version so much that I ordered that version the second time we went (a week later). The BF got baked manicotti ($8.25) Amazing!!! Their marinara is so yummy! When we went back, he got the veal parm, and while someone previously reviewed it and hated it, we all had bites and we all were SO in love with it. Delicious! Great prices. Great service. Cute little place. Casual, friendly. Also, as they brought our to go boxes, they also brought a bag of rolls to go! This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. I was blown away by the deliciousness of my meal today. We came in for their lunch special which was a steal. I ordered the pasta treat with pink sauce.
