The interior of the cafe is very nice, loved the design and concept. We came at 1pm on a Saturday and it was extremely crowded, our drinks took about ~20 mins. The Vienna latte was very flavorful and their cream was good. However, the Black sesame latte was lackluster. I could not taste the espresso in the latte, and in the photo the espresso is not visible. But, the service was great and they managed well despite the influx of customers. I love the concept of Cafe Upper. The drinks are all creative and specialty drinks that are hard to find elsewhere. The offerings of pastries and home made cream cheese is brilliant to pair with a delicious beverage! I've been here once before and loved their bagels and drinks, so I decided to stop by for a quick drink after work. I live and work in Pasadena but made the late-night drive to K-Town, craving their matcha and excited that they stay open late. I arrived around 11:40pm--20 minutes before closing--only to find out last call was actually at 11:30pm. It was my first time coming this late, and I was really hoping to take advantage of their late hours. Wish their online hours reflected that cutoff time--definitely a huge bummer. Please change your hours online!! It's a huge waste of time especially if people are driving out far for a late night cafe that actually closes pretty early. Great coffee, great service, great ambiance! Be prepared to come back. lol I went twice in one week! Their speciality iced lattes are as tasty as they look. So far I've tried 5 of their specially iced lattes - although they were all good my fave so far has been the Pistachio Einspanner (I'd suggest to ask for less cocoa powder to enjoy the pistachio cold foam). They also offer great pastries! The coffee shop it self is pretty roomy, lots of seating and they play really good music. Great place to catch up with a friend! I'm a regular here and absolutely love this coffee shop. The staff is so kind and it's a great space to study and work in. I just have a few suggestions 1) Add a second large table in between the trees. The big tables are so much better to work in and since a lot of groups come here, it'll be easier for people to be together. 2) Add sponges to the walls and ceilings to absorb sound. The acoustics in the cafe make sound bounce all over the place which can make it hard to hear when it's busy. Some aesthetically pleasing black or orange sponges would be a cool touch but also help with that. 3) Add some kind of breakfast sandwich or food that isn't just a pastry. read more

I wanted to check this cafe out after it went viral online for being open late until midnight-2am. Prices are kind of wild, $6 (after tax) for an americano or a hot unflavored tea. Aside from specialty drinks like einspanners ($8.50), their drinks seemed underwhelming for the price. Service was good and staff was friendly, but the music was playing super loud so I could hear it pretty clearly even through my earbuds. Between the music and other people talking I couldn't really have a conversation at my own table. Wi-fi was fine and some seats have outlets, so it's possible to work/study there, but the tables are really small and close together so I'd feel the back of my chair directly against another table's chair. I'd try to get a corner table/toward the windows next time to have some more space. Probably the best thing about this cafe is the decently large free parking lot in Ktown. read more

Superb high quality drinks with a casual atmosphere. The aesthetic and the color scheme of the space is well thought out and unique in terms of all the cafes i have been in. We got the matcha strawberry latte and strawberry yogurt smoothie, and they did not disappoint. The amount they give is generous too. The matcha latte came with a strong matcha flavor, making it taste a bit chocolatey. My favorite was the strawberry yogurt. Came here on a Saturday night around 8 pm and it was very busy. We couldn't get a table so we ordered our food to go and ate it in the car. I ordered the strawberry croffle and it was pretty good. Our orders did take a while to come out, but I understand with how busy the cafe was. I feel like the price for the croffle is a little over priced for the size of it, but I still enjoyed it. The inside is very clean and modern and there was a mix of people on laptops working and then just friends hanging out. My hubby and I stumbled upon this place after getting dinner. The store has good amount of seating, clean bathroom, great customer service, savory & sweet treats, good selection of drinks, and super cool pool floaty chairs! The price point is pretty similar to most Korean coffee/cafe spots in Ktown. I really liked the variety of drinks they had here! Einspanner is very popular right now so I was happy to see that they had it on their menu - bonus points for having different flavors (black sesame & pistachio is ones I have not seen on other menus for Einspanner) I was very intrigued by their unique spread options and if I was not full out of my mind I definitely would've tried it. Will be back to try those out along with the sweet treats next time!! The sweet treats reminded me of another cafe I love in Ktown so super excited to come back to try those out. We were full so just got the Butterscotch Latte which is not what we would typically order off a menu but we went for it since it was different. I recently went here with friends. It was my first time too! I tried their matcha einspanner and it was good! I requested to add matcha powder to make the flavor strong and it was to my liking. The staff is accommodating and service is fast. They have a station where you can get all the tools you may need like cup lids, napkins, and Utensils. They have a clean and good-smelling restroom in the cafe. There are a good number of chairs and tables but may need to wait if the day gets busy. It comes with a side of vanilla ice cream AND little mochis that have injelomi powder on them, ugh chefs kiss! Everything just pairs together so well. I recommend splitting one if you go because they can be a lot for one person, but nonetheless you could have leftovers to enjoy for later too! The matcha itself was mediocre. Mine was pretty grainy, and nothing really stood out to me about it. Maybe their other drinks are better tho. The place has minimal seating, so be prepared to wait for a seat, go early, or order to go. It's not the best study place because I think most people go to socialize with friends or chill. read more

A new cafe in ktown like the ones in Korea! So excited that more of these are opening here in LA. We loved the design of the space. The orange couches were so cool and fun to bounce on! The theme is orange and black throughout the cafe, so keep that in mind if you want to take pictures. We thought it would be really busy on a Saturday afternoon, but we were able to snag good seats. As for coffee, we got a decaf Americano and the Black Sesame Einspanner. The Einspanner wasn't too sweet and the black sesame flavor was so good. The staff is very nice and attentive. The one that took our order was very cute and bubble , while we were eating another staff asked how we liked our food which was a very nice experience. The Croffles were very delicious , and not too sweet either which made it enjoyable to eat the whole thing and not feel a sugar overload. I was surprised by the texture as I thought it would be a soft waffle like feeling but it actually had a crunchy outer layer. I came back because I enjoyed my taro einspanner so much last time and I'm disappointed by my experience. I got a simple lavender oatmilk latte and I'm pretty sure they forgot to put any lavender in it. When I ordered the almond danish I also pointed at it and the girl at the counter just stared at me with a blank expression until the other girl translated for her. I get English not being your first language but I pointed at what I wanted... there's no almond frangipane or custard in the almond danish so I basically just got a round croissant with almonds on top. read more
