We've been patrons for this location for some time. The main reasons we love the café is for their cleanliness, delicious food and excellent service. Everything from glasses, silverware, tables and plats are always clean which gives a peace of mind that the dishes are prepared with similar care. We've dined in and also ordered out on many occasions. Everyone from the servers to management are great. There's convenient and immediate parking spaces on site and also additional parking on streets. Taha the manager is always improving the facility from parking lot to the interior of the restaurant and on top of everything associated with the operation. Pedro is one of the most professional servers around and it's evident that he sets a good example for the team. Delicious. We had a big group, and snaps to how well they handled it. All the food arrived at the same time, hot and fresh. We started with the big appetizer mix. It was $42 and had plenty for our group of 10. We cut some into pieces and shared. The dips were great. We had a variety of things--lamb kabobs, need kabobs, chicken shawarma, salads. Food is delicious we got a chicken kabob and beef kabob plate. The hummus is fresh and taste so amazing hands down some of the best I've had. The service is great always helpful and attentive and of course patient, i for the live of me was not understanding what was being suggested i do to save $$ but she was patient to help me understand. I have been into hookah for quite some time, and this is one of the weaker hookah's I've been to. The hose was wet, wasn't hitting well, wasn't packed too well... But the service, they did try to make the wrong right... second time the hits were better but the hose was still wet. I do like that you can order a hookah and not have a drink/meal minimum... Cafe X2O used to be another Mediterranean place we considered going to for dinner, but we weren't a fan of the hookah smoke at night (their entire restaurant is an enclosed patio). Thankfully they didn't have and hookah smoking during lunch hours when we went. My friend and her family hosted their baby shower here and the restaurant was very accommodating for our large group that took up more than half of the space. We tried a great variety of their food: - salad (a little on the vinegary side) - hummus and pita (a little citrusy, but still very tasty) - falafel (they weren't over fried, I really liked how fresh they were) - some other fried thing with ground meat inside (I really liked the flavor of this one!) - grilled chicken over rice (I only tried a bite of this one, but the chicken was flavorful and not dry) If you haven't tried them, give them a chance because good Mediterranean food is hard to find in the SGV. Cod Fillet (with rice and grilled vegetables) @$15 ~ Love the cod fillet, it's well-seasoned and I like the smokiness of the fish and the grilled vegetables, it's really delicious! Beef Kebab (lean tender fillet beef, with rice and grilled vegetables) @$12 ~ Love the beef kebab, it's simple and full of flavor. Meat-lover will definitely want to try this. But I came here for food. FOOD: Chicken Kebab - you can exchange the rice with spinach for $2. The portions were good, especially with the pita bread they give you. I got full off the pita. The spinach was a good touch. Hummus: You can't go wrong with hummus. PRICE: Kinda pricey for the food versus going to Glendale, but I am in Monrovia, so this is good. Starting with what we liked: the ambiance was laid back and chill, the server handling the hookah was very friendly & helpful! The portions were a good size, falafel was good What we didn't appreciate: the manager or owner kept upselling us on literally everything to an uncomfortable point. We both ordered beef shawarma, they brought out the beef kebab which is pricier than the shawarma (i didn't know any better so i ate it anyway) then we ordered baklava but the guy pressured us to get the Ashta. I said a few times we want to have the baklava but the guy said "you should really try the ashta. It's like bread pudding" and walked away to put in the order we didn't make.. friends.. it was not like bread pudding. The ashta was almost double the price of baklava and just a bowl of cream (nothing like the menu pics) it was just weird all around and we felt very pressured to get specific things. I'm pretty good about speaking up, but this guy just kept walking away and deciding for us. If you're going for just hookah and an app i'm sure this place is good, but anything more and you'll end up spending way more than planned. One of my favorite restaurants in Monrovia. It's usually not busy at all. The staff is very nice. The drinks are pretty cheap, although the pour is on the lighter side. The food is great, I'd recommend the fatoush salad. It has a light lemony dressing that's amazing. It also has little chips inside that compliment the salad. All of the dinner dishes are great, nice portions I usually share a salad and dinner item and it's perfect for two. The deserts are average but cheap enough to make it worth trying. The hookahs are also a really cool addition to making it a memorable experience. I would recommend this place to anyone who would like to try something different! Went to dinner to celebrate a birthday. The place is not outdoors but has windows that they keep open because so many people are smoking hooka. This is problematic because this lets in all the flies and mosquitoes. My husband and baby got bit several times. It was super annoying to have to sho away flies from the food. And the food was disgusting. I love Mediterranean food. This place was super salty. It's like the cook lost his/her taste buds or something. We were missing a lot of things from our order and not to mention it was so hot we were drinking loads of water and no one cared to ask if we needed more. If you are into the smoking scene I imagine your taste buds wouldn't care of the super salty food and I'm sure the flies would stay away from the cancer causing smoke you are inhaling. Came here with my brother and his wife who frequent the place and I was not disappointed. This was probably the best Mediterranean food I've had in the area. You can also order up a hookah if that's your thing. We went late on a Sunday night so it was pretty wide open. It's not a huge place so I can imagine there being some wait if they're busy. After trying this place, I can also imagine they get pretty busy. SERVICE: Absolutely excellent! The staff is great up and down. They check on you often and I never felt lacking for anything. Everyone is extremely pleasant. FOOD: Must try the hummus with meat (choice of beef or lamb). We got it with beef which was great but I'm thinking it might be even better with lamb. Best hummus I've had. Their pitas are also not dried out like most places. I had the beef shwerma which was super tasty - many layers of flavor. Honestly food is great at this place. I've been going and bringing people to this place for years. Tonight I decided to bring my cousins from all over town and meet there. Everything was great until the end. It was time for closing. And I get it we all gotta go home. But first of all no one came around and say that they are closed. We were told that kitchen is closed. There were. Few tables left so we were still hanging out with our Hookahs. One waiter came around and said "we are closed and you have one minute to get out". Then turned around and apologized to another tables that they are closed, politely. I'm not sure what it was. Was it because we are Asian? Was it because 20% tip wasn't enough? The kebab combo and hummus were great. Their garlic sauce is so good. My kids liked the garlic sauce on the pita with rice and chicken. I had the beef shawerma platter... the tri tip was so tender and tasty. And there was so much of it. The next day I made a pita sandwich with tahini, tri tip and rice and it was FANTASTIC! It was my first time dinning at cafe x2o so I had my friend order everything. Food: -fried kebbeh (stuffed with ground beef) -kabob plate for 2 (2 roasted tomatoes /2 roasted peppers/ 3 skewers chicken, beef, lamb / rice) -kibeh neyeh ( steak tartar / pine nuts/ green onion/ jalapeño) -hummus & pita -Turkish coffee The total cost of our bill came out to $95 which I thought was surprising cheap for 4 people since we also had wine and hookah! It was also my first time trying many of the food we ordered and it was all delicious!! Once the food coma started to kick in, my friend suggested the Turkish coffee. It tastes exactly like an espresso shot but after finishing the coffee, there is a thick black espresso residue at the bottom. The ancient ritual is to flip the cup over for a few minutes, and the residue from the espresso can tell your fortune! It's called "Turkish coffee reading."
