After having passed by over a dozen times, I finally came in. The counter ladies are super friendly and helpful. The iced americano and walnut cookie (reminds me of the tiny cookies I had in Egypt) were delicious. I tried my friend's chocolate mousse - - rich and chocolatey. The bathroom was immaculate. Absolutely amazing food and drinks. Split a BLT this afternoon with hubby and could have eaten the whole thing. My all time favorite is the lilikoi cheesecake which I could eat any day, any time and never share! Also excellent is the Caramel Freeze. Don't miss this place, you won't be disappointed! This place is a gem. We had the ham and cheese panini with a wonderful salad which was quite filling, a coconut mocha which was very flavorful and a Macadamia nut puff pastry which was literally out of this world. The owner Rita took our order, answering our questions about the menu and making recommendations. She is very friendly, loves to talk with guests and by the time we sat down at the table our lunch was delivered. Great place!!! The smell of roasted coffee hits you when you walk in the door and the staff is so friendly! It's the kind of place locals hang out and know everyone but tourists are welcomed warmly. I was really wanting to try Kona coffee shop, but after an exhausting day on the beach my boyfriend and I settled on this cafe. The lady was so nice, when I was about to order a decaf americano she explained how the caffeinated beans are sent off the island and sprayed every time they leave the island. They have to leave the island in order to become decaffeinated. She was really knowledgable about the process. Defiantly recommend. read more

Second time here; first for breakfast. Food wise, more a two-and-half-star place. Coffee's great; decor nice; outdoor seating cozy; the food pedestrian. Ordered the Rita's Special bagel. Basically tomato slices on a toasted bagel seasoned with salt, pepper and olive oil. Tomatoes were cold and tasteless, more orangey than red, as in not ripe. Never refrigerate tomatoes. However, we didn't go there for the food. Went to "talk story" and linger over a cup of coffee. Almost 20 bucks for two bagels and two coffees. Catching up with a friend? Worth it. read more

This small café/coffee shop in Kealakekua, 10 minutes south of Keahou, is absolutely the best coffee around. Nick & Rita own their own coffee plantation, roast and brew it themselves. Rita makes the best Cappuccino (of course, 'cause she's Italian). A former restaurateur from Vancouver, she knows her stuff. The baked pastries are to die for and she serves breakfast and lunch Paninis and sandwiches, along with the pastries. Tastefully remodeled, with an outside view deck, this is a must if you want to get away from the touristy places. read more

I've definitely had better. The coffee is good but the breakfast was average. I had the Florian Egger and it tasted just like the industrial ham and egg muffin that it was. Very average. But then again it's one of few places open on highway 11 on your morning drive to whatever you're visiting today. Stop here if you're really hungry. read more

My fiancee and I were planning on camping out here for a few hours during cyber Monday, getting drinks and food periodically during the day as we shopped and completed some business. After being here for 45 minutes or so, someone approached and very rudely asked if we were going to be ordering anything since my laptop was plugged in and we were using the wifi. It was an uncomfortable experience where the comfort of the little cafe was immediately dispersed. Awesome cafe! We stopped here for lunch after spending the morning and early afternoon paddling around by Captain Cook. So happy to have discovered this place since it had just opened this year so was not in any of the guidebooks. Lovely owner, clean place, large fresh salads and cold and panini sandwiches as well as a great selection of coffee drinks. Also a beautiful view of the water from the back patio terrace and nice selection of desserts. The service here is usually very good. The cashier that is usually there is very energetic and welcoming, but she must have not been working today. I went in for breakfast and no one was at the cashier. I heard two ladies in the back laughing and swearing at each other and one woman told the other "eh try not to fart k?" And they laughed and keep swearing. I immediately lost my appetite and walked out. They need to really be careful with what they say and the volume of their voices because it sure carried. I had the pleasant experience of going to Cafe Florian. The Barista served me the best Kona Coffee latte that was beautifully designed and even tasted more delicious. The turkey stuffed home made croissant was an epicurean delight and I couldn't wait for dessert! The chocolate mousse melted in my mouth with wonderful bursts of flavor!
