    Just inside here!

I really can't say enough about how pleased I was with the Staff and the Quality of the coffee here on my last trip to Seattle! This isn't one of those Big Chains! You get treated like real people here, served by real people ! The cute little coffee shop is attached to the MarQueen Hotel and was a great find with some tables, inside and outside and a merchandise shelf too!

Nice sweet spot with good coffee and tasty ham and cheese croissant sandwich. Gets packed really easy and not enough space but overall really cute cafe.

    Latte with oat milk

A small cozy coffee shop. The barista was nice and friendly. I ordered a caffe late with oat milk and it was really smooth which I liked. I can see this place being a nice study spot although there aren't too many seats. Overall, I would say pretty solid coffee.

Ok, I'm so annoyed. I had a friend pick me up a lavender matcha from here today and it was literally half foam. I mean comeON. It's not like this place is cheap so I kind of expect more from them than this. I was so looking forward to my drink. I dunno who made it today either, but it tastes really bland on top of everything else. Def not up to par at all. I'll just add that there is one barista that does an amazing job and I've LOVED all my drinks from them. The problem is, it's just not consistent enough. They really need everyone to be trained to the same level because it's just not worth coming out of my way and getting disappointing drinks when there are multiple coffee shops closer to me.

Maple latte & medicine (orange zest mocha)

Fun little cafe with delicious coffee & tea drinks. They also offer baked goods and some other food but didn't try anything besides coffee. I tired the mocha with orange zest, which is an orange rind they put in the drink. It was not overly sweet and the milk was steamed and had a perfect amount of foam. My girlfriend had the maple latte, which she also loved. They offer reusable cups for $2.00 and you get a $0.25 on the drink you order. Small space with tables. They do have a few tables outside and there is a open space with tables and chairs across the street. Right on the corner of Roy and Queen Anne it was a delightful walk from our hotel just 10 minutes down the street.

My small black coffee (light roast) and my friend's medium cold brew with soy milk.

Walking to Kerry Park, stopped in at this coffee shop for a quick pick me up. Ordered a simple black brewed coffee ($2.30 for small). Was given the option of light or medium roast and chose a light roast. Wasn't expecting much but was actually pleasantly surprised by the delicious brew. Smooth and light, with a sweeter note. I very much enjoyed this little cup of joe on a chillier morning walk! Additionally there was very nice customer service and they were very fast with my order! A chill spot to talk or get some work done on a laptop.

My feet were killing me and I was hot and sweaty, so a little espresso break is just what I needed. The menu had some fancy sounding coffee drinks but as a purist, I opted for a plain cappuccino. Hubby got a lavender iced latte, and we decided to share both drinks. The funky baristas were so kind and welcoming, and the service was friendly (no aloof baristas here!) and fast! Think of Anchorhead as a hipster place that treats you like family. Bonus stars for this establishment being all-inclusive and welcoming! I knew I was in the right place when I saw Pride flags proudly displayed in the window and even inside the coffee bar! It's nice to support non-bigoted businesses, and Anchorhead makes no bones about the fact that they are indeed a coffee place for everyone. Misfits, outsiders, trans and more: come as you are! We were also drawn inside thanks to the big sign on the front door that read "ICE NOT WELCOME." After placing our orders, we found a seat, filled a cup with the complimentary ice water, and waited for our name to be called. Our order was ready in less than three minutes! Talk about fast service! Since we had one hot and one cold coffee, it was a good assortment to compare. I normally am not a fan of any type of flavored coffee drinks, but the lavender latte was so nice and refreshing! We got the small size, which I think it way too small. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this drink. The ice was just right, and it didn't taste too watery (as the ice melted, it did get watered down but not in a totally unpleasant way). The lavender flavor was strong yet not overpowering, and the coffee has a delicate floral aspect that complemented it well. This was a terrific espresso drink. The cappuccino was also good. The milk was foamed perfectly, and the espresso was strong and rich. I'm more of a fan of espresso with cereal / honey notes, and Anchorhead's beans lean more towards the heavily floral. This isn't a bad thing, it's just not my jam when it comes to espresso. The cappuccino was very good, but not my favorite. These coffees are crafted and artisan, and the prices match! It was very expensive for these two drinks, but that's the norm in Seattle. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here again, but it's a nice place to rest and get a dose of caffeine if you find yourself in downtown Seattle.

They clearly care about their image as they offer a free mug for first-time customers with an email sign-up. The drinks here are ok, but they average between $8-$10 each. I think the pricing is just much too high. You're paying for the vibes, not for a great cup of coffee. The matcha we tried was mediocre. There are so many other great places for coffee in Seattle, for just a fraction of the price. I think Storyville is preying on tourists visiting the market. They probably have to charge that much to keep the 8 employees milling about behind the counter employed. The space does have lots of seating, but it was nearly full during our early afternoon visit. Save your money, find another great local coffee spot!

Both were delicious and definitely on the lighter side rather than a dark oolong. Crimson Mist leaned more earthy, while Golden Bloom was noticeably more floral. I mainly came for their premium kung fu tea, and honestly, the menu is overwhelming in the best way possible. I wanted to try everything. This time, I went with the Mountain Haze Green Tea. Grown at high altitudes, it's very light, smooth, and low in bitterness. The tea is steeped for you and served in a pot, and you can request multiple cups if you're sharing, which is a nice touch. Since green tea is a popular choice, here are a few extra notes. Dragonwell, typically from Hangzhou, has a nutty sweetness with subtle chestnut notes. Taichi Sprouts is milder and more grassy, but still carries a gentle sweetness. And if you're unsure what to order, Jasmine Green is always a safe bet, you can't go wrong with its classic floral aroma. Huge shoutout to Jessie for taking the time to clearly explain the different tea categories. I'll definitely be coming back, and next time I want to try their ice cream as well.
