I've sampled cannolis from numerous dozens of cafes all around the country - Caffe Palermo is simply the best around. I've even eaten cannolis from 3 different very famous spots in Boston - Palermo's is simply amazing. Their shell is crunchy, light yet dense. It's kept at the perfect temperature - which this is important especially for their chocolate cannolis. Their cream filling is ricotta based, super creamy and fresh. This review is only based on the chocolate cannoli and quick customer service. I'll be honest - I've probably only have had about 3 cannolis in my lifetime. Of those three, Caffe Palermo was the best. Crispy chocolate roll and filled with sweet creme...simply blissful. My chocolate cannoli was $5.00. Keep in mind, I wouldn't go out of my way for these cannolis, but thats probably simply because I prefer gelato. However, I'd make a pitstop here if I happen to be in the area. Cashier was helpful and friendly. Ambience was cute and cozy, very "Little Italy." Great for tourists. read more

The long was decently long but it moved fast and we were in and out with our snacks in minutes. We'd gotten dinner in nearby Chinatown, and walking off the calories in Little Italy when we walked by Caffe Palermo and I suddenly craved a cannoli. We were full but not too full, and the "best cannoli" sign on the window really got to us so of course we had to walk in. It was a really homey place, with a true Christmas-y vibe (complete with a tree, decorated giant cannoli that I guess you can go in and take pics inside??) and quite a few people seated and enjoying various desserts. We were greeted by a very warm and smiley hostess who asked if we'd like to sit and peruse the menu. We figured why not, were seated, and brought menus. She asked us if we needed any help, and we just asked her what was popular and what she would recommend. We eventually went with a cannoli, a lady finger-tiramisu, and a latte. She took our order, got us some waters, and told us it'd be ready in a few minutes. Everything was out on the table within 10 minutes! I was surprised by how fast and efficiently the staff moved, almost in an agitated and frenzied way but they definitely didn't put that attitude on their customer service. I think we saw the boss himself, behind the counter doing this and that. It was a really good background for my friend and I to have a nice leisurely chat while we enjoyed our desserts. I really appreciated the tiramisu - it was light, fluffy, not too chocolately and overall a lovely dessert! The cannoli cream was thick, almost a little too heavy for my liking but my friend loved it. The latte definitely helped wash it down, and it itself was also a good latte. Our desserts and latte came out to a little under $20, which was pretty standard ($6ish for a cannoli still blows my mind, but I guess the experience makes up for it). The place filled up while we were there, but we were never rushed out of our seats at all. I appreciate that a lot, it adds to homeyness of the restaurant. Haven't had any other cannolis in Little Italy, but I'd come here again if I were looking for a nice, sit-down cafe to chat with a friend over drinks and dessert! read more

I understand I'm sketchy for only having one review. I just want to know if anyone else has had this experience? I walked up and ordered a chocolate cannoli & a sugar cone (forgot the full name of the dessert?). The positive side of this review is that they're really good! 10/10 would order again. Slightly overpriced at $11 for the two items but given the surroundings - understandable. Here's the part that I'm curious about. I went to sit down, in the near empty restaurant, and I was told "this is for table service only, you would have had to pay more to sit down." OK no problem, I got up and left, I didn't ask any follow-on questions. I'm just curious. Is this a real thing? Stopped by here earlier today. Ordered a large cannoli and a hazelnut/cookies & cream gelato. Paid $18 in total (about $9 for gelato and $6 for the cannoli plus tax). For the location, I'd say the prices make sense, but equally as good treats could be bought for about $10 dollars cheaper in Brooklyn. Overall, the taste was good and the outdoor seating arrangments and service was nice as well. read more

Went there today - San Gennaro day. Food is awesome - no complains. Pizza personal pie was delicious and mega fresh ( ordered for my toddler), Italian meat and cheese platter was ok - meet is good by baby mozzarella wasn't very fresh. Pasta was very simple and very fresh therefore A+. SERVICE IS C-. Our waitress was ok except of the smell of tobacco factory. Toilets are disgusting and another waitress told me that it's only for customers - and she was serving me water . Food is superior survive sucks. But I'm going for good food quality. read more

We had just finished a lack luster meal and wanted to top it off with something sweet. We looked up and saw a giant cannoli in the sky and everything then made since. We had to stop. After pacing back and forth in front of the display cases, for about 20 minutes, I finally decided on the regular cannoli. It was what a cannoli should be. Shell was nice and crispy and the cannoli cream was spot on. I ended up trying some of my kids' strawberry cheesecake and it was also very good and not dry at all like a lot of other cheesecakes I've had in the past. Way overpriced and overrated. Felt like a tourist trap. Who really needs to advertise #1 cannoli if the product and reputation actually speaks for it? Much better quality Italian sweets can be found in Boston, which generally has a better and more vibrant Little Italy (the North End). The service was quite pushy and off-putting- we felt we didn't have an opportunity to breathe st times. Our servers would repeatedly check in every minute to ask if we were ready to order (when we explicitly said no and would notify them once we were ready). This wasn't even a busy time- there were empty tables and no outdoor wait. The dessert was mediocre. Of note: molten lava cake was not "molten" in the inside- pretty mediocre. NYC has an abundance of great dessert spots. It's hard to justify coming here again. Mediocre desserts, unjustifiably expensive coffee and pastries, and overbearing service: 2/5. read more

My date and I came in to try their world best's canoli, since he never tried one before. I wanted him to have a decent canoli to try. We ordered their three mini canoli sampler, tiramisu, espresso, and vanilla Italian soda. The three conolis were supposed to be original, chocolate shell, and peanut butter shell. However, they gave us two of the original on accident. They tasted good, but I wouldn't call it the best in the world, cause it didn't "wow" the both of us. The tiramisu was incredible, though! LOL...I wasn't expecting to find my favorite tiramisu here. It was decadent with flavors - strong espresso, creamy mascarpone, and such a generous portion. Beside that, I thought their service was very friendly and I saw them greet a few of their regulars. I enjoy that vibe - happy and welcoming. You can tell this place believes that their restaurant is the best. LOL (A strange side note: Their restrooms, although old, was sparkly clean! An employee literally finished cleaning it, right before I stepped in. I don't know what some of these reviews are talking about!!! Cannoli is supposed to be sweet as it is a dessert. I have tasted cannoli all over the United States and man oh man this is the best. "Cannoli King" hits John right on the head. He knows exactly what he is doing and makes you feel at home. He kissed both of my cheeks and chit chatted with me for a few which made me feel right at home. Next time I'm in NYC I will make sure to come in for cannoli, coffee, and conversation. A very good cannolo by NY standards, possibly one of the best, but NY is not the entire planet earth (contrary to what many NYers seem to think ;)). Compared to some of the very good places in Sicily - 3/5. That being said it's a great place to take a break from the chaos of little italy on the weekends and has a great old school vibe. Of course the cannolis are famous but practically every other dessert we're had has been phenomenal and extremely fresh. The name in the front says "Cannoli King" ..well with a name like that you'd think they'd have a huuuge selection AND display of different kinds of cannoli but we saw typical cakes & pastries and a small section of regular cannoli that honestly l can get anywhere. So I've asked if they had other flavored cannolis. The waitress showed us a little card on the counter that had 4 other flavored cannolis besides the original one. A little disappointing to see that a place named "Cannoli King" only has 4 & not even displayed for customers to easily see. Had we not asked we wouldn't have noticed that lil'card on the counter. Anyway we noticed on the walls it said "the best cannoli in country" if I remembered correctly. We were like let's see for ourselves.. So along with 2 cappuccinos we ordered a regular sized pistachio cannoli & a hazelnut cannoli. The pistachio wasn't bad BUT we really wished we could taste the pistachio more. It had only a HINT of pistachio mixed in with the original ricotta cannoli cream "meh" ..then the hazelnut wasn't bad either, honestly didn't stand out from the hundred other places that I've had cannolis from. If they weren't ridiculously expensive, we'd go back to try the other 2 flavors, which l believe were chocolate coffee & caramel. The service was good, but again the prices were ridiculous!! I mean I know we're in a touristy area but $7.50 each Cannoli?!?! Come on. I can get a cannoli in Brooklyn for $2.50. They were ok, not the best like they claim. Their cannolis are fantastic. But they hire an amateur to sing outside on the weekends and blast the noise so LOUD (day and night) no one who lives here can hear ourselves talk. He fills my chocolate dipped cannoli shell with the cannoli cream made with ricotta and sugar. Then he sprinkles powdered sugar over this sweet thang. That's love from the Italians. And this chocolate dipped cannoli shell? Best thing ever. I oohed and aahed at my cannoli, especially at the shell, until I took my first bite. The cream is nothing to write home about, but that shell is fantastic. I wasn't impressed with the filling at all, but I can rave about that shell forever. The nice thing about this bakery is that they also offer a mini version of the chocolate dipped shell cannoli, for those who can't eat a giant one. That will never happen to me. Caffe Palermo claims they have the "Best Cannoli on Earth." Well, I am not sure if this is true as I haven't been everywhere in the world. But it is definitely the best in Little Italy. It is clearly the best in New York. And to be honest, it is the best cannoli I have ever tasted. The cream was freshly whipped and then stuffed into the shell. I think it has ricotta cheese, a hint of vanilla, chocolate chips, and quite possibly, some kind of addictive additive. I will not claim it is crack cocaine, but if their pastry chef said he added that ingredient, I would not be surprised. After the delicious Cannoli, La Novia went inside and looked at some more of their treats. She was eying an eclair and then she announced she had to use to the restroom as her bladder is the size a Skittle. While she was relieving herself, I purchased an eclair. We both liked it, but not nearly as much the cannoli. 5-stars for the cannoli and 3-stars for the eclair. I need to come back in the future and possibly try their food.
