What a scam. Was here for a bachelor/bachelorette, signed all contracts and both were in the understanding of a $65 per person which was fine. When final bill came, they only charged us that and was not provided any subtotal updates mid meal nor an itemized receipt which had an almost $400 discrepancy. excuse me? My original review got removed, so let's try this again :) Food was good, drinks were good, our actual server was good, but unfortunately it all went downhill when an employee named NATE visited our table 3 minutes after we paid our $300 bill. My friend had made a reservation and the restaurant had called her and asked if we could come in earlier, we said sure but a couple of our friends might be late in joining us. We ordered our drinks by 6:25pm. We were seated at a table IN THE BAR, had food and our drinks, paid for our tab and started getting harassed by NATE coming over to our table not once but TWICE!!! Stroking his long beard and telling us we needed to hurry up and leave because they needed to seat another party. When I asked for his name, he told me it was Nick but I received confirmation from another employee saying his name is NATE. Another male employee also came to our table to let us know we needed to get up because they had another reservation. Never in my whole entire life have I been rushed to leave a restaurant. This place definitely needs a lesson in proper hospitality because neither me or my loved ones will ever be coming back and I wouldn't recommend coming here to dine if you actually like the company you're dining with and want to enjoy a night out. read more

I had the Chelly Spritz to drink and it was VERY good. Great balance of flavors and not too sweet. For food, my friend and I split the Caesar salad and the burger. The Caesar salad was quite bland, definitely not something I would order here again. The burger was very good though. We ordered it medium and it was very juicy. Tried Cala for the first time for a friend's birthday. It's a very lively environment for a Saturday night and we got seated in the patio where the music was SO loud you almost have to yell across the table. Their cocktails were strong and they even offered some tasty mocktails. Appetizers came out pretty quickly but took about 35 minutes to get our dinner entrées. Saturday night in August - the place is packed. There is a DJ and it is fairly loud. We had a table inside near the large windows overlooking the outdoor patio. The service is attentive and friendly without being intrusive. We started with the "Flaming Saganaki" (appears to be the signature appetizer as a ton of other tables have the same thing). It is very good. Crusty on the top and gooey toward the bottom. The bread that is served with it and very good as well. We matched it with glazed carrots. The carrots were really good - nicely sauced and soft without being mushy. We then shared and Insalata pizza. Again, it was really good! Crispy and chewy dough, a good amount of toppings, and very flavorful. For dinner, we shared the Ribeye Chop and Paccheri (pasta). The ribeye was cooked to perfection and tender. The aesthetic factor to this beautiful hotel cannot be overlooked! Wow! It is gorgeous! Very hip and laid back yet refined. Lots of greenery and restaurant completely opens up to the outdoors on any given day being that the weather is usually great here! They call the menu coastal but it's mostly made up of Greek and Turkish type cuisine. Cala is alllll about the vibes. I much prefer their dinner/ cocktail hour to their brunch, but both are great. Juan is a great server that I've had twice now and their bar staff is awesome. I tried a matcha sour (and hated it) the bartender could tell I didn't like it and just offered to make me something else. This is a great date spot. I love their pesto ricotta appetizer and the meat and cheese board. I have not tried any food items there that I didn't like. However, food was just okay-- couldn't figure out how they justify such high prices. We ordered the Flaming Saganaki -- which was delicious and had an incredible presentation -- they lit it on fire with brandy! We also ordered the Peruvian Shallot Crudo for an appetizer-- again, gorgeous presentation. The Lumache Alla Vodka was pretty good, but not super flavorful and chicken was somewhat dry. The Tamarind Braised Lamb Shank was overcooked, and couldn't finish it because it didn't taste very good. Desserts were definitely the strong suit-- we loved the Butterscotch Pot de Crème and the "Black Forest". The butterscotch comes with a yummy crunchy topping. We were planning a trip to Scottsdale for -- wait for it -- a bachelorette party (shocker, I know). With such a large group, options were limited -- especially Mother's Day weekend. We arrived Saturday promptly at 11:30. The restaurant took us about 15 minutes to seat us, but offered us the bar to wait. The decor is gorgeous. Ambience was loud and boisterous. While we waited, we saw mouth-watering dishes come out of the kitchen, which influenced our meal choices. We started by sharing the hummus, which came out with a large, warm piece of bread (almost like a tiny flat loaf). The spread itself had a really interesting mix of spices, salt, and whole chickpeas. It was outstanding. I had coffee and a veggie version of the Turkish eggs, which comes with avocado, chile fried eggs, whipped yogurt, radish, pickled onion, and pita that tasted like it had been roasted over a wood fire. The melding of flavors was incredible. Others at the table also enjoyed the huevos rancheros and the pancakes. Total for 7 people with a few cocktails and coffee and tip = $350, or about $50 per person. Pricey for brunch but the food quality was on par with some of the better brunches I've had. Service was good but a bit indifferent, and not outstanding. Maybe because it was a busy day? I would recommend this spot, but know that it'll be pricier for some. read more

I came to Cala two nights in a row. I'll start with the fact that the restaurant is beautiful. Very upscale, but comfortable. I ordered the Harissa Glazed Salmon and found it to be cooked well, but I wish there had been a little more of the beurre blanc sauce. I came back the next night to try something different and ordered the Bucatini Wagyu Bolognese with a side of broccolini. I loved the bolognese, I wouldn't change a thing! I thought the broccolini was good, but a little too spicy. Overall, service both nights was good. The waiters were attentive and helpful, but the restaurant was busier the second night I went so I understand that they took longer to check in. read more

We were in for dinner and was seated on the patio which was lovely! The space is beautiful and zen with natural tones, lots of seating and a very fresh feel. The drinks were amazing, I went with the spicy mango margarita- it was delicious with the spice cutting through the sweetness of the mango, my bf opted for the vodka passion fruit cocktail and also enjoyed it very much! Food wise we shared the cauliflower, meatball, salmon and carrots. The servings are generous! The cauliflower and meatball was definitely the star, the carrots were nice and sweet but a little fiborous. First and last visit to Cala was met with a Bartender who wanted to be smarmy. I got there at 5:50pm ordered a drink. Drink dropped off at 5:58pm I asked for a menu, I was given a dinner menu, I asked if there was a Happy Hour menu I was told it ended at 6pm, I said, what time is it...she smiled and said 6:01pm, not once when I went to the bar did she say what is customary Happy Hour ends in a few minutes do you want something, no not even when I received the menu at 5:59pm still nothing. I asked for the manager and explained the situation and was told that there was a strict nothing past 6pm policy, I handed back the dinner menu and said I would not be coming back. It was my first time visiting Cala on a Wednesday night. It was pretty easy to find and is located inside Senna House. Valet is offered if you have a hard time finding parking. I like the openness and brightness of the restaurant. We opted to sit inside as they did not have a heated patio. We lucked out with our seating and were placed in a semi private area of the restaurant. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I ordered their roasted cauliflower and added salmon. They roasted cauliflower was okay, I thought it could have used more flavor or a little more of the sauce on the bottom.
