(A minor disclaimer, I went with a huge cravings for carne asada fries and adobada tacos) I've had this place pinned for some time, and I finally ventured out to try it! I had been craving carne asada fries and adobada tacos that I would get every time I'm in LA, so my expectations were pretty high. The food: I ordered adobada tacos, but they were out of adobada, so I ordered Carnitas tacos. The meat was super tender, huge, I mean HUGE portion for the price, but it wasn't the adobada I wanted :( And I also ordered the carne asada fries. The flavor was there, the portion is great, the meat is tender, but the fries were sooo undercooked. I mean it was just barely pasted cooked. All mush, no texture; with the cheese, sour cream, and guac I needed the fries to be crunchy. Next time I will ask for the fries to be well fried. The soggy fries with wet stuff on top was not it. My husband ordered the California burrito but he said it wasn't enough meat. The sauce bar, like many have mentioned, it is amazing. The selection and the extra condiments, I love being able to customize my entree and give it an extra kick. The inside is spacious, clean, nothing extra or fancy about it and that's exactly what I want from "fast food Mexican restaurant". There's even a drive-thru! How great is that, rainy day? Lazy night? Late night run? Go through the drive thru! No need to put sweatpants on We will go back, hopefully they'll cook the fries longer and have adobada so I can try those!

Was in Bellevue for work and decided to eat here for dinner. It reminded me of a chain where I live in Sacramento. I tried a fish taco and the super nachos. Both were great. Flavorful and filling. Not greasy like I'm used to which is way better. The salsas in the salsa bar are so good. They're hot as can be, so becareful.

    Bacon breakfast burrito. 14 bucks

We got bacon breakfast burritos and a side of "Mexican salsa". The burritos were fine, but nothing we would pay money for again. They did not arrive with any salsas, except for the 5 dollar mexican salsa side we ordered (which was old looking pico). This type of burrito is so bland to not have any salsas, and it is advertised. The big advantage of this place is that they are open when others serving similar foods are closed. For the price, menu accuracy, and quality, it was a miss for us.

French fries in a breakfast burrito. So oily it's not edible.

*** UPDATE... They did it again! I haven't been back since and I got the last burrito and it has French fries in it again! I even asked the lady before ordering what kind of potato the use and she said roasted/fried fresh potato's. This is the absolute last time. Owner, you need to get a handle on this. So gross. *** I really liked this place until today. They put French fries in my breakfast burrito and charged me $10 for it. If you're out of potato tell me, I'd order something else. It's so oily that it's not even edible. Also very bland, no salt. What happen to this place?

I had the carne asada burrito to go. It was a pretty good size for the price and a good amount of meat. The meat was a bit chewy though. It was prepared quickly and service was fast. There are tables to eat in inside for those who like to.

Overall I'd say my experience is a 3-3.5/5. I ordered and only went in the drive thru. I ordered the pictured three items and it's a lot of food for $20. That's a plus. These soft tacos are loaded and have a lot of meat, including the shrimp. Burrito: carne asada burrito was ok the main issue I had is the carne asada was very dry and didn't seem to have much stand alone flavor. I really liked the way the tortilla and burrito was grilled though. It was fairly good in size and portion as well. 2.5/5 Shrimp taco: flavorful rice and lots of shrimp and it's huge for the price. The shrimp is a little dry but has good flavor. I think this is a strong item to get for a fast casual sort of shrimp taco. Cheese is melted well. Tortillas have a nice cook/char as well. 3.8/5 Adobada: lots of meat, fresh guacamole. Meat again is a little dry. Flavor is just ok. Give it a 3/5 Sauces: tried all three of the sauces they offer. Habanero sauce is flavorful but super spicy obviously. I enjoyed it as a secondary sauce. Add a drop or so every other bite with the green and red sauce. If you like heat, get the habanero! Overall it's a mid/slightly above mid food for price and amount. Service was good.

    The burritos are huge

I like that they are open 24 hours a day, have yummy flan, and options for vegetarians and vegans. I work graveyard shift and I'm also usually awake at night on my days off, as well. There's not much open at night, so I would say that's the biggest thing they've got going for them! With that said, I'm only giving 3 stars because this place is really not very good. At first I thought it was decent enough, but I've been increasingly disappointed with each order. The vegetarian burrito is huge but nothing that special. The vegan burrito is slightly more money because it's supposed to come with guacamole. When I ordered the vegan burrito it had only 3 ingredients!! (Beans, rice, lettuce. NO guacamole OR salsa.) I don't know if that is normal, but I'm not feeling like I want to chance it again. It was so dry and bland I could only eat half of it. Basically, the only reason I would be back is if it's the middle of the night and I have no other food options. Or possibly just to get my flan fix.

Formerly the Burger King spot, California Mexican Food has taken over and love the new exterior. The vibe and colors make you feel like you're not in Wa! The employees are hard working and the food so far is a 3.3 Stars to me from the little tasted so far. Its the low prices, above avg food, and hard working employees that merit 4 Stars from me. Want to come back and try the breakfast burritos for sure. Came during the 20 degree weather and there is no heat in the place! WTH CMF?! There was one couple eating here and they were full eskimo'ed out with ear muffs and everything as if they were on a quasi Antarctic experience. This is what I mean though, the employees here are hard working and ALSO dressed like they are in the cold vast darkness of space. As a result, the food was not as hot as preferred, somehow still warm, but not hot. The quality of the food was above average and can't wait for warmer days to try again. The star thus far though is the Carne Asada Fries, hope you like the photo. When I think of Carne Asada, I want some fat with it, and there are some pieces with fat on it and that is much appreciated. You get a good chunk of meat and fries with some cheese, and avocado. It was a tad overly salty though, but nothing a nice cold Pepsi couldn't cut through. This is one of them dishes that is basically a must order in addition to what you're going to be ordering. Now to be clear, again, none of the food is blow your socks off, its just good, and the price of everything is low. So the combo of low pricing, above average food, and hard working employees, merits 4 Stars from me.

I've had their street tacos, habanero enchiladas, California burrito... everything is great. The burrito is huge and full of fries, beans and meat. The meat is super tender and flavorful. The enchiladas have a super spicy, luxurious sauce that I couldn't get enough of. Their guacamole appetizer is also awesome. The inside has like three zones - a darker, moodier corner with booths... then high tables near the bar that are airy, with a ton of light... and then an outdoor area with umbrellas to keep the sun from beating on you too bad. They're all a great vibe -- just different. This is a beautiful, modern, clean restaurant that fits perfectly into Bellevue's scene -- but it almost has too much 'corporate polish,' like a Microsoft high-rise tower. My only mildest of criticisms is that this polish kind of obfuscates how soulful eating Mexican food can be.

The margaritas were delicious. Generous size for the price point as well. Their salsa was spicier than I expected. You can park in the Bellevue Square parking garage and walk to here. They have online reservations through Google Maps so I suggest doing so to make sure your table is ready because I have seen long lines during peak hours. We had a reservation and arrived on Sunday evening for dinner but still had to wait a while before a server came even though there was no line. There was a water bottle on the table and it was not free so keep that in mind. The restaurant is cozy, but the light could be brighter from my opinion. The menu has many options from small to large and shareable dishes. We went for their famous lamb chops and squid paella for two people. The lamb chops were great and paired well with the potato. It really took a long time (the menu said 30 minutes) for the paella, so take that into account before ordering, but the flavor was worth it. This is our first time trying Spanish food but these were really good. The rice was well mixed, flavored, and came in a big portion. Only one thing is that the meat and seafood were a bit less given the price of this dish. In general, this restaurant is a decent place with great food and location in the heart of Bellevue. I would highly recommend it if you crave for Spanish food. The price is a bit on a higher end but at least you will leave with a good mood and a full belly.

The first thing to know is that it can be a little tricky to find if you're not familiar with the area. I was greeted by a very friendly hostess who explained that to-go orders are normally placed online, but she happily got the manager to help me. He was incredibly helpful and made the ordering process easy. The food was really good! I ordered the jackfruit tacos with rice and beans, along with the guacamole sampler. I didn't realize beforehand that it was more Tex-Mex style, so that was a little different than I expected. The guacamole itself was good, but I'm personally not a fan of cheese and some of the additional toppings mixed into guacamole, so it just wasn't my preference. That doesn't mean it wasn't good. It just wasn't for me. The jackfruit tacos, however, were fantastic. I absolutely love jackfruit, and these were some of the best I've had other than the ones I make. They could have used a little more spice, but they were still delicious. And the chips? Completely addicting! I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in Seattle to try more items on the menu

You order at the counter before seating yourself, but the staff will bus your tables. There's plenty of parking available and the salsa bar also has some fresh radishes and roasted(?) carrots that I found to be surprisingly well seasoned. Carne Asada Fries: Fries weren't as crispy as I'd like, but the toppings were solid. Beef was decently tender and they were generous with the amount of guacamole. It was my first time seeing beans on fries, but I thought it was pretty solid. Churros: These are definitely pre-made churros that get re-fried. I continue to be on the hunt for fresh churros in the Seattle area, but I wasn't mad at these. The custard had a nice mouthfeel and creamy sweetness, but the whipped cream was a little odd in that it didn't taste like anything at all. Mulitas: I wanted a little more meat in these, but they aren't bad. I like that some of the cheese crisps up a bit on the edges of the tortilla. If I was a little drunk, these would be elite.

WOW. The tequila selection here is basically a library, and the bartenders are the very enthusiastic librarians. They know everything. My partner and I were lovingly escorted through a full tequila tour before our food even arrived, and honestly? By the time dinner showed up, life was beautiful and all decisions felt correct. Needless to say, we were having an excellent time. The food definitely holds its own too. Everything came out fresh, beautifully plated, and tasting like someone in the kitchen actually cares (which is always a plus). We split a few dishes, including the Carne Asada and the Pescado. The Carne Asada was good, though it could've used just a bit more seasoning, nothing tragic, just a gentle nudge from "good" to "wow." The Pescado, however, was fantastic. The food is quite good. I wouldn't call it authentically Mexican, but rather a contemporary, slightly elevated interpretation of Mexican cuisine. Personally, I would have loved a bit more of those bold, authentic Mexican flavors to come through, but overall, the dishes were enjoyable and beautifully presented. The staff was genuinely warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout the evening. I did change my mind shortly after being seated and asked to move from indoors to the patio. Our hostess, Aguilera, gave me a quick look that said, "Really? Already?" but was very gracious and accommodating. In the end, moving outside was definitely the right call! The wooden chairs indoors look beautiful but become a little uncomfortable after sitting for a while. The carved seating cocoons along the walls are visually striking and add a lot of character, although they're probably better for admiring than for a long, leisurely dinner. The outdoor seating, on the other hand, was very comfortable. The biggest opportunity for improvement is the acoustics. Conversations really travel and bounce around the interior, which naturally leads everyone to speak louder just to hear each other, creating a bit of a vicious cycle. During a busy dinner service, it can get quite noisy. That said, I'd absolutely come back and happily bring friends or visitors for a memorable dinner. My preference would definitely be a nice-weather evening with outdoor seating, where you can really enjoy the view and atmosphere. Pro tip: Ask for a Carajillo! It's a Mexican espresso cocktail that can be surprisingly hard to find done well. They have one here, and it was delicious, beautifully presented, and one of the highlights of the evening.

Our whole group was very disappointed with our dinner experience tonight. We were there for about 2…read more1/2 hours, and our server was essentially absent the entire time. We had to repeatedly flag down other servers and bussers just to get basic things like water refills, blankets, and a dessert menu. Our server was a young, slim Indian gentleman. We didn't catch his name because it wasn't listed on the receipt, but he walked past our table multiple times without ever checking on us. I ordered my steak medium, but it came out blue rare. As you can see in the photo, it was extremely undercooked. Since I'm pregnant, I wasn't willing to take the risk of eating it, so I ended up leaving most of it. Overall, the location and the view were absolutely beautiful, but the service and food were both disappointing. No one at our table enjoyed their meal. The tacos were okay, but nothing memorable. Based on our experience, I don't understand the hype surrounding this restaurant.
