My husband and I had lunch on Friday and, after we're done, we asked for the check. Our server, Val, was not nearby at the time, so we asked the hostess (Emily) to notify her. Val came over and told us she would bring the check shortly, but then went to another table that had just been seated and spent several minutes there engaged in conversation, looked comfortable while leaning on the table. After waiting, we asked again through the hostess because we were ready to pay. At that point, Val appeared visibly annoyed when approached. When she finally brought our check, she made a comment saying, "OH, THAT'S CHEAP," which we found very inappropriate and unprofessional. Additionally, while my husband was signing the receipt, she was tapping his card on the table, which again, very impatient and disrespectful. We have been loyal customers of CPK and have always had positive experiences, which is why this interaction doesn't sit well with me. We completely understand that restaurants can get busy, but the tone, comment, and behavior we experienced did not reflect the level of service we've come to expect. I felt like we were being rushed out of the restaurant. I thought that maybe our waiter is getting off his shift and therefore he had to close out our bill. We went ahead and handled the payment before we received our dessert. The dessert came later and I noticed that our waiter was still there after we had finished our dessert. Now, I wondered why he would give us the bill and expected us to pay way before our dessert! After all there was no one waiting for a table. The restaurant was not busy at all. I believe the wait staff can use some training. If you want customers to feel welcome and enjoy their meals, giving them the bill before they are done eating is not the way to go. Overall, a great experience and I would absolutely come back again. We waited about 20 minutes before being seated, but once we were called, everything after that was smooth. Our server was introduced right away and was amazing the entire night -- super attentive, friendly, and really elevated the whole experience. We go quite often and use our CPK rewards and Costco CPK gift cards every time we go. Easily the best value way to enjoy CPK. Prices are a good value and the menu is very diverse. From the pasta to the burger, they are all tasty. We love the lettuce wraps with shrimp and chicken, Sicilian thin crust with onions and olives, kung pao shrimp pasta and the short rib pasta. I was pretty disappointed with my most recent visit. The food was standard and as expected so my disappointment is purely the result of the interaction explained below. I stopped in for a late lunch with the intent of enjoying some $10 pizzas. I've been relentlessly served ads on my phone with a sprinkle of email marketing and my understanding is that there were 4 different pizzas available for $10 on Mondays and Tuesdays. When I asked our server, he said the only $10 pizza deal he was aware of was for Happy Hour. I ended up ordering something different and ordered a dish that was over $20 (more than double what I was expecting to pay) because he seemed pretty confident that I was mistaken and didn't make any effort to ask someone to find out. While waiting for our food, I looked on the CPK website and found the information for the $10 pizza deal which I showed my server when he came back to the table. He explained again that the Happy Hour deal was the only $10 pizza he was aware of but that he would ask around to see if he could get more info. He didn't come back to tell me what he discovered until we had our food (brought by someone else) and at that point said that there was a deal but you have to spend $25 or more. It was a weird exchange because at no point was it like "Hey, sorry I wasn't aware of the deal". I was obviously interested in the promotion and I missed the opportunity because he didn't know about it or make an effort to find out sooner. What a wonderful experience we had! My husband and I walked over from having a terrible service experience at a nearby restaurant. We walked in and asked if we can sit at the bar. It was a little dirty but they quickly cleaned it for us. Elysse was our bartender and she was fantastic!! She was so professional and personable. She really made the bar top ambiance fun and pleasant. The food was spectacular. We had the pot stickers (dumplings) and the burrata pizza with pepperoni. The pizza was a game changer! Just so we're clear, this is no "one and done" review. This is an ongoing customer service love affair and though I'd rather gatekeep to make sure she's always available for me, CPK and Melissa from Chino Hills need to reap the bennies of all their incredible efforts. From my very first visit in the Fall of 2025, Melissa has made me feel like I'm coming home after ages away each and every time I walk through the door! She gives my energy, my humor...she gets me. But not just me... I can sit and watch her deal with each dining party around me and she does this incredible chameleon thing and meets each group's vibe exactly where they're at. When I grow up, I wanna be just like her. Ok, let's get serious. This was an expectant visit (as it always is) but for some reason this little piece of chicken I ordered woke up choosing violence. I'm not a real intimidating "Karen" type so I laughed about the saw blade tracks that I left in the piccata. With absolutely NO hesitation and not taking "no!" for an answer, Melissa was determined to do that really cool excellent customer service thing. She went to the chef, backhanded the chicken for his bad attitude, and returned with a beautifully compliant mouth-watering chicken cutlet. I cried for 27 seconds. Unfortunately the last couple of visits have been disappointing because they are always out of tortilla soup. I also recently ordered delivert through the cpk app and they didn't send any salad dressing for the chopped italian salad I ordered. When I called the takeout number to notify cpk staff, an employee told me she didn't pack my food but that my uber eats driver should've told me they "ran out" of that salad dressing. How do you run out of salad dressing and not inform the customer? Poor poor customer service on our last visit. It was a Monday evening around dinner time and we put our name on the waiting list. 20 min wait not bad. We watched other families, specifically a white family of 5 come in after us. However they were seated before my family of 4, by the white female hostess. Our server Jay was a mess. He kepf telling all of his tables that the bread was on the way. Both of the families sitting next to me were asking where their food was. Waiting an extremely long time for food. One asked if they could have extra bread when it was "ready" because they were starving and had young children. Jay promised them some bread. They were already waiting 45 minutes for their food! A different server delivered our neighboring tables their food and told them "we ran our of bread." I ordered tortilla soup. Waited about 1 hour for our food. I advised Jay I was missing my soup, he said oh yeah we ran out. I ordered an arnold palmer, he said we are out of lemonade. He then tells the table next to us after he served them their food, toward the middle of their meal that they had no lettuce for the lettuce wraps and so the customer said, we cant eat the lettuce wraps without lettuce. Incredibly poor service. Excuse, after excuse. Customers kept asking for the manager that never came out to talk to the customers. How are you going to run out of everything I mentioned. Lastly, I gave my server my giftcard number, he tells me it is incorrect and needs to be 14 numbers and not 19. I had to get my phone charged at the restaurant because while waiting for my food and my toddler watching videos, my battery died. Jay did not apologize, he kept making excuses for his own mistakes and if you know you don't have bread, tell us! He kept telling customers 5 min, 10 min , the bread is in the oven. Then he comes afterwards n says we ran out. Seriously sad , this place is going down hill.. My poor toddler was starving and kept asking for macaroni, I even saw adult entrees coming out before kids meals. We ordered mac n cheese! How does it take 45 min to an hour to serve mac n cheese! I even told the server to please bring the kids food out first. All I ordered was a salad, my server brought out some odd looking yellow dressing and i tasted it and it was sour and def not the thai salad dressing! He assured me it was. I told him no it isn't. He then goes to the back and brings me a different dressing which tasted and looked much more like the thai salad dressing. Brown in color and sweet. It was a horrible experience.
