Camp 18 Restaurant is a must go to destination on the trip to Seaside. Adorable log cabin lodge restaurant, home style feel, cozy and quaint atmosphere. It is almost like you are stepping into a whole new world of Oregonian nature. I travel to the coast with family and friends almost every summer, and stopping at Camp 18 is one of our favorite traditions. The atmosphere is beautiful inside and outside. The menu is big, portions are generous, and service is super friendly. The most recent time I visited with a group we got to sit in the back by the window and watch lots of colorful birds outside the window by the bird feeder. Super fun! They even have some little games to play on the table to enjoy while we were there. The food is classic and I love their breakfast. My favorite dish is the waffle with strawberries. The waitress does great to keep the coffee flowing. Overall love Camp 18 Restaurant, and look forward to visiting again next trip to Seaside:) read more

We have been here a number of times and it has been good. This particular trip was even better than I remember in previous times. While I probably would have been inclined to give five stars, being greeted by Ms. Grumpy pants was kind of a turn off. Maybe she just wasn't awake yet! I ordered the Razor Clam breakfast that came with a biscuit, eggs and hash browns. I also ordered a single flatcar. I would highly recommend this choice if you like clams. This was delicious. You get two huge razor clams, breaded just enough and fried. A side of tarter and squeeze of lemon makes it perfect. The hash browns were particularly good. Extra crispy on the edges and they had good flavor. I did order my two eggs "Over Medium" which they were barely over easy, in fact there were uncooked whites, which I can handle but be prepared to send them back if you like them like I do. The biscuit was good, add a little jam and it was worth it. The flatcar was also very good. Fortunately they offer a marionberry alternative to their "Maple" syrup. I use quotes because it's flavored corn syrup. Highly recommend this place, especially if you are passing through. It's an experience, history lesson, and good food! read more

I have passed this place thousands of times on my way to the coast. Ok, I'm exaggerating a bit. Maybe only hundreds. There I go again. 4 times. Ok, a bit more than that, but you get my annoying point. I passed by this place many times before I realized it was in my Road Food book and that I should not just pass by, I should actually stop and get some food. We did stop here this time on a random trip out to the coast, but not to eat a full meal. We stopped for the homemade cinnamon rolls which we took to go. We ended up eating it in front of the fireplace in the back of the restaurant, but that is irrelevant. You want to hear about the cinnamon roll don't you? Don't all answer at once. Read on. If you ask for it to go, they will warm it up for you and put a nice dollop of what seemed to me to be very fresh butter on top. Do you need butter on top of an already rich cinnamon roll? Probably not. Should you get yours with butter on top? Absolutely and 100% yes yes yes. They lose one star because of the raisins. Raisins are evil. I've said that before. Next time I'm back in these parts, I will stop in again and try a full meal. It all looked good. One more thing. The cinnamon roll is bigger than my face. If you are heading out this way and need my face to measure against your cinnamon roll, don't hesitate to ask. read more

This is simply a awesome place to stop on your way to or from the coast. It is a isolated, massive lodge. You will be welcomed with old time logging equipment, a lot of history, and several cozy cats lying about. The food is down right good. The French toast is wonderful, they have homemade biscuits and jam, and we always take two of their famous Cinnamon Rolls home with us. These rolls are the size of a chicken, and they taste of sweet, cinnamon buttery goodness. There is a solid fan base of travelers. They have a cute shop to the side of the large lodge. They sell commodities and some local artist's work. You can enjoy your meal while watching the birds feed on the large deck lined with bird feeders. It is a true organically Oregon destination. You will never feel crowded there because the main lodge (dining room) is so spacious. The staff is friendly, the lodge is beautiful and intriguing. It is a great place to try and judge for yourself. I highly recommend stopping in if you are making a trip to the coast. Good food, great historical stop, and a lot of fun for family. read more

Sign the guest book, visit the gift shop, walk down to the stream, take a photo with Sasquatch and visit the loggers memorial. Then get back on the road to your destination. Camp 18 Restaurant is a wonderful discovery for tourists who are devoting their week to northern Oregon, for example, Cannon Beach, Bonneville Dam, Multnomah Falls, and Silver Falls State Park. The restaurant is located on Route 26, a road connecting scenic Cannon Beach with Portland. Camp 18 Restaurant takes the form of a huge log cabin with a menu that includes typical breakfast orders, but the breakfast orders have fanciful names that invoke the lumber industry, such as, "The Riggin' Boss" and "Lumberjack Burger." In front of the restaurant is an exhibit of many types of archaic equipment used for the lumber industry. Please see my photos of ancient tractors, and of a machine that includes a huge wheel and several large gears. In the back of the restaurant is a nature trail that skirts a stream, where one can find skunk cabbage and dangling mosses (see, my photos of these things too). Persons interested in seeing other types of archaic industrial equipment might look into the annual exhibition of diesel locomotives, steam rollers, and steam shovels that takes place in Willits, CA. For one weekend a year, there are free train rides and visitors can come close to operating steam shovels dating from the 1930s. The exhibit at Willits is called, Roots of Motive Power Steam Logging and Train Museum. Another similar exhibit is West Kern Oil Museum, located in Taft, CA, though the oil processing equipment at the West Kern Oil Museum is not operating. Similarly, an exhibit of ancient borax-processing equipment (also not operating) can be seen at Furnace Creek in Death Valley National Park. To conclude, I view Camp 18 Restaurant as part of the bigger context of west coast museums featuring archaic industrial equipment. read more

Wow! Want an incredible dinner we had here tonight! We usually cook on Thanksgiving but we wanted to try something a little different. We came here tonight and boy are we so happy we did. Dinner was AMAZING!!! The cabin is adorable and service was beyond amazing too. A few minor bumps - we made a 4pm reservation and we were not seated until 4:45pm A lot of people swung by and didn't have reservations which messed it up for those that did make a reservation. - they ran out of beef brisket which was a real bummer because I don't eat turkey but do love brisket. The ham was good, turkey was good ( I did have a tad so I could feel festive ) and the ham was good too. They rest of the side dishes were AMAZING! Seriously we will be back! I heard they cooked 44 turkeys for today. Wow! Beside the little bumps the food was fantastic, the location was great, the building was rustic and perfect for a nice Thanksgiving dinner. I've been to Camp 18 many times over the years...and as a result, I have many fond memories of the place! So based on that, I give it 4 stars! To tell you the truth, I can't remember what I ordered here the first couple of times, but I do remember the people that I've been here with. So OK, the food's not all that memorable. But the restaurant is ruggedly beautiful with all the wooden tables and large wooden beam in the ceiling. And not only is this a restaurant, but there's also a museum dedicated to the logging history. I've recently been here twice in a 4 month period. The first time 4 months ago, was when my friend and I were on our way back from the coast. I had ordered the taco salad, and he ordered the hot roast beef sandwich. My taco salad was so-so. His hot roast beef sandwich topped with plenty of beef and gravy and a side of mashed potatoes looked so good! It brough back memories of when I used to go to the NCO club with my parents as a kid and ordered the hot roast beef sandwich! My mouth was watering from looking at his plate! So this time, when we drove back from the coast, he insisted we stop at Camp 18. This time we both ordered the hot roast beef sandwich for $9.95 each. No regrets. The serving is huge and I had enough to be full for lunch, and a doggy bag for dinner later that night! This place was packed every time I've ever been! But we were seated relatively quickly and the service was fast and friendly! read more

This is a very cool place to go. It's on your way to or from Seaside - right off hwy 26. The decor is very cool - not something you'll see again. It's very spacious and airy. The menu is extensive - it will take a while to dig through it. It's mostly in the realm of "comfort" food and pretty far from "health food". The folks seemed genuinely friendly - which is always a pleasant surprise. Our server had some good recommendations and was very attentive to making sure the food was right and we had plenty of beverages. I didn't want *exactly* what was on the menu and they had no problem getting me *exactly* what I wanted. My family goes to Seaside / Oregon Coast a few times a year and I expect that we will be adding this to our routine commute. If you are looking for a historic Oregon logging experience, I think you'll like this place a lot. The gift shop and the stream near by are nice diversions to allow you to walk off some of your meal before you get back on the road. The "regular" dinner specials sounded right up my alley - so I'm hoping to go back to try one of those next. read more

My family and I stopped at Camp 18 for dinner after a day at the beach in Seaside. A short drive and well worth it. I had the Steak 18 and my wife had the Chicken Marsala. Both very tasty and cooked to perfection. Huge logger-style portions served on platters. No room for dessert so we ordered it to go. Again, Huge Cinnamon roll and Marion berry cobbler for breakfast the next day. Our kids have simple tastes for their ages (5,7,9), so they had cheeseburgers and grilled cheese sandwiches. All done right and served with thick steak fries. We shared a bowl of Clam Chowder which was EXCELLENT. Couldn't find it this good in Seaside. Our server was prompt, super friendly and very accommodating. All smiles for that gal. We will go back for breakfast someday. Can't wait! Also, plan on spending at least an hour marveling at this architectural masterpiece. This place is a magnificent log structure with many details inside and out. Not just a bunch of kitsch or junk laid out for decoration. Everything seems to have a meaning and tells quite a bit about regional logging history. Definitely not your ordinary roadside diner. The owners put a lot of thought into this place. Go downstairs and take a peek at the bar in the banquet room and you will see what I mean. read more

I've stopped at Camp 18 a few times, mainly for cinnamon rolls on the way to or from the coast. However, last week I came around dinnertime and ordered the Lumberjack Burger. From what I used to think, one came to Camp 18 for the cute and kitschy decor and to check out the impressively huge trees used in the building. However, my burger was surprisingly great and the french fries were really yummy! Fairly solid food and the clam chowder is pretty decent as well. However, I will say that I have tried other dishes in the past (razor clams) and these were not good at all. However, the breakfast was better although not amazing. All in all, I recommend the burgers and cinnamon rolls but lower your expectations a bit for items on the menu outside of these staples. read more

After passing this restaurant to and from Seaside countless times, we decided to stop on our way home. I am so glad we did and this Camp 18 will definitely be added to one of our special spots. The inside has a wonderful log cabin feel and we were sat at an antique wooden table by the fireplace. The menu is quite extensive. It was really hard to choose, but I decided on the taco omelet with salsa and sour cream and a biscuit and my hubby got the clam chowder sour dough bread bowl. We couldn't have been happier. I've driven past Camp 18 for as long as I could remember on the way to the beach. I finally decided to start our beach trip early with the intention to stop at Camp 18. We were quickly seated and our waitress was nice. The whole theme here is great, too. The food is pretty much just average - I had the Denver omelette with potatoes and a biscuit. The biscuit fell apart and I couldn't put jelly on it since it crumbled so much. Denver omelette was just the folded over kind which I can't stand, so I didn't like it anyway. It didn't have much cheese in it and it was overloaded with peppers & onions that were undercooked. The potatoes were good, though. Husband had flatcakes (they call their pancakes this) and they were crispy and just not really great. My mom had the spinach omelette and had the same complaints as me. All & all...MEH, kinda bummed that I've been waiting to go here for so many years but it just wasn't great. It was only $54 between the 3 of us though, so it's okay. On the high note, the gift shop has some cute stuff and they have awesome Tiffany lamps for sale. read more

We have driven past Camp 18 for many many years I just love the look of the building and heard it had great food. We have stopped and walked the grounds many times but never had the chance to eat there. So for Mother's Day we decided to make reservations and give it a try. Boy we were a bit disappointed, food was not good, I would say below average and the prices were very high, In my opinion not worth it at all, We probably could have went to Sherry's and paid way less and got something better, service was okay. On the bright side it was a beautiful drive going there and sitting outside and enjoying the quiet. Everything is just bland. I ordered an omelet and it is exactly what is on the menu, steak, cheese, and onions. No sauce, no flavor. The potatoes were even blander if that is possible. There's something exhilarating about breaking through the Urban Growth Boundary. That almost instant change from commercial infrastructure and suburban houses to farmland and heavy timber growth is unbelievable... I image it's kind of like what astronauts experience when they're plowing through the atmosphere. Well, except with less fire and potential peril, arguably. The first place my family always "docks" after leaving the city for the coast is Camp 18. It's not so much for the huge logger breakfasts fit for lumbermen rather than city slickers, or the kitschy heavy timber log cabin with big family tables and furry taxidermy, and defunct old machinery parked outside. It's for the tradition that Camp 18 is where you -always- stop. Or at least that's the case in my family... We rolled in around 8.00 am on a Friday morning and the pace was empty save for a couple of other families who had hit the road early as well. Coffee arrived at the table practically as we were sitting down. The waitress came by and got our orders which were turned around the quickest I have ever seen here. I had hash; it was good and reminded me more of the "stick with you" meal that I'd get when visiting family in Wyoming and Montana. Everyone else though the same of their skillets, pancakes, and waffles. Still, for a restaurant to stop by every couple of years, it's not bad. Huge breakfast! This is definitely a comfort food place in a super cool log cabin. Country fried steak breakfast is big enough to split.

They used to have decent food but since the adult children have taken over management, they only serve frozen food and it is not great. Last time we were there we ordered a cinnamon roll to go and had it the next morning. We both were very sick after eating it. ????
