This is a beautiful place with an amazing decor of the restaurant in the middle of the drive from Portland to Seaside. The bar tender / server at the loft level was super nice and amazing. My friends and I stopped here on our way back to the Portland area after several days in Seaside. Eating here is a tradition with us, and it's always a fun stop. Decorations were all in place for Christmas, and as always, they were incredible. The tree was covered with lovely ornaments (which could be purchased), the fireplace area was aglow, and it was a joy to see everything. There were 12 of us at the big table, and the service was terrific. Some of us got breakfast, some got lunch. Everyone was very happy with what they ordered; the food was delicious no matter what we ordered. Our servers were wonderful, getting our food to us in a timely manner, and they were very friendly and helpful, making sure the breakfast orders went in before the time limit of 2 pm. The decor at Camp 18 is always wonderful, but at Christmas time, it's over the top wonderful. We loved being here; it's a perfect place to end our retreat time at the beach. My friend Lorie who is a local brought me here on the way back to Portland one morning for breakfast. Loved everything about this place. When we pulled into parking lot I was enchanted by all the logging equipment and chainsaw sculptures and the towering forest beyond. I LOVE the building itself, classic log cabin mansion with lots of stone fire places and cast iron. Just a gorgeous building. Inside the light is wonderful streaming in from all sides and along the back side facing forest there are many bird feeders. It was delightful to watch the doves and blue jays take turns at feeders. I also love on the front porch they have a long pew with a half dozen cat beds strategically placed full of happy lazy cats in the morning mist:) The food was wonderful & hearty but also very well done, I had an omelette and the veggies were perfectly cooked. Just a little bit, still crunchy and fresh. My friend comes here for the French toast and it looked and smelled divine. We each ordered bacon and this may be the best bacon I have every had that wasn't on a farm. Lean and flavorful, we were both happy we got large because Of course we couldn't eat it all but we each left with our surplus bacon in little waxed envelopes which made a perfect snack pack for our travels. I like my coffee a little inkier but I realize that's an idiosyncrasy of mine. Oh! The 'rents were excited to take me here, they like to eat here when they visit the coast. I tried the famous cinnamon rolls and a portion of my mom's spinach & sausage omelette. I'm proud and embarrassed to say that I ate 2/3 of the ginormous cinnamon roll by myself! I appreciated that they served a nub of butter with the roll, it really set it over the edge of deliciousness. I agree with the other reviews' assessment of this restaurant: the food is a-ok standard diner food, you're really coming for the lumberjack ambiance (or cinnamon roll). There are really two reviews that should go with this place. Atmosphere and location is 5 stars. It's a wonderfully beautiful huge log structure set on the grounds of a logging museum. There is the Nehalem river right out back that you can watch deer and salmon migrate up stream. It is definitely worth a stop if you have never been there. Now the food part. I went with three stars just because I can't give 3.5 its fairly expensive, portions are average but it's also fair enough that you're paying for the experience. First visit with my family and we will never return. Yes the waiters were nice but when going up to the counter where you pay the bill. There was a big line and staff would pass by everytime they went by the counter where you pay and when asking may I pay my bill after waiting 10/15 minutes the lady at the counter got rude. Our visit for a late lunch was okay, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here again. Service was good, but not enough to make up for pretty basic food. The best part of my meal was the patty melt -- it had a nice juicy burger patty, plenty of grilled onions, and very flavorful toasted rye bread. The accompanying beef stew, while an ample portion, was a disappointement. I found two very small pieces of beef, and a lot of very large potato chunks (too large). The flavor was okay, but nothing special. I thought the rustic log building was really neat, but parts of the building (restroom) could use some attention. On our way to the beach, we pulled into the Camp 18 Restaurant for a late lunch. It was a weekday and the weather had stayed cold and wet. Crowds were not an issue here today. We were able to sit in the corner where, outside the windows, squirrels and birds of many feathers ate from the feeders there. Kept us entertained! I had the Idaho Silver trout and a cup of clam chowder. DH had the grilled tuna salad and clam chowder. The food was OK (he said), but I enjoyed mine. The service prompt and friendly. Generous portions of average food. Their whole 'shtick' is portions fit for a logger's appetite. But, really, most people just stop here for the ambiance, or the tradition of stopping en route to the coast. If you're interested in the history of logging, you'll probably be in heaven. I'm not interested in that at all. But, the setting is really beautiful for a post-brunch stroll, there's lots of birds, and cats, roaming the grounds. There's a small, cute gift shop. But as far as the food, it's pretty average. They give you a huge side portion of fried potatoes with most breakfast meals, but our potatoes were unseasoned and borderline raw, and were just seared on one side as a token 'frying.' With some salt, they were edible, but really underwhelming. The cheddar cheese in my omelet was still shredded in some parts, aka not melted. I got a biscuit with my omelet that was good. My boyfriend's egg benedict was also "OK." When the waitress came by to ask if everything was OK, I wanted to just say "Yes, it's very much OK." read more

If I would have know that the food would come to my table completely void of any spices, I would have answered yes to the question "Would you like any salt or pepper?" But with the reputation they at this is THE place to eat breakfast on the way to the coast, I was confident that the food would reflect this sentiment. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Even the sausage in the biscuit and gravy did not lend any flavor to the dish. My suggestion, if a bland dish is what the customer wants, let them order it this way. Wow I once loved this place and I will say that the building is so nice to look at but we waited an hour before getting our food and 20 minutes before getting a water. The front desk was slow to acknowledge us the waitress was nice but seldom seen. We ordered the following Kids Mac and cheese: literally Kraft French dip: Meat was good but hardly any to be seen Appetizer of Buffalo wings: Six wings they were good but that's all you get in a soup of Buffalo sauce for $11. Not worth it at all Overall avoid this place I'd they have anyone else eating there as more than a couple of tables will slow them down tremendously. As a logging museum, this place is five stars and awesome. The wood construction is magnificent and massive. Fireplaces, chainsaw sculptured bears and massive numbers of logging memorabilia make it a fun stop for all. Other than the huge cinnamon bun, which is roughly the size of a baby's head, the food here is pretty mediocre. I had the beef and cheddar melt, which was recommended to me by the waitress. It was extremely greasy and impossible to finish. My teenage kid couldn't finish it either. Everyone loved the cinnamon bun. Come for The amusement park logging attractions and log cabin architecture, (if Donald Trump ever needed to build a rustic cabin, this would be it!). Camp 18 Restaurant is a wonderful discovery for tourists who are devoting their week to northern Oregon, for example, Cannon Beach, Bonneville Dam, Multnomah Falls, and Silver Falls State Park. The restaurant is located on Route 26, a road connecting scenic Cannon Beach with Portland. Camp 18 Restaurant takes the form of a huge log cabin with a menu that includes typical breakfast orders, but the breakfast orders have fanciful names that invoke the lumber industry, such as, "The Riggin' Boss" and "Lumberjack Burger." In front of the restaurant is an exhibit of many types of archaic equipment used for the lumber industry. Please see my photos of ancient tractors, and of a machine that includes a huge wheel and several large gears. In the back of the restaurant is a nature trail that skirts a stream, where one can find skunk cabbage and dangling mosses (see, my photos of these things too). Persons interested in seeing other types of archaic industrial equipment might look into the annual exhibition of diesel locomotives, steam rollers, and steam shovels that takes place in Willits, CA. For one weekend a year, there are free train rides and visitors can come close to operating steam shovels dating from the 1930s. The exhibit at Willits is called, Roots of Motive Power Steam Logging and Train Museum. Another similar exhibit is West Kern Oil Museum, located in Taft, CA, though the oil processing equipment at the West Kern Oil Museum is not operating. Similarly, an exhibit of ancient borax-processing equipment (also not operating) can be seen at Furnace Creek in Death Valley National Park. To conclude, I view Camp 18 Restaurant as part of the bigger context of west coast museums featuring archaic industrial equipment. read more

The waitress was really nice However the chicken fried steak was just NASTY It had no flavor, the chicken fried was not cook throughly. The gravy sauce was tasteless. Wow! Want an incredible dinner we had here tonight! We usually cook on Thanksgiving but we wanted to try something a little different. We came here tonight and boy are we so happy we did. Dinner was AMAZING!!! The cabin is adorable and service was beyond amazing too. A few minor bumps - we made a 4pm reservation and we were not seated until 4:45pm A lot of people swung by and didn't have reservations which messed it up for those that did make a reservation. - they ran out of beef brisket which was a real bummer because I don't eat turkey but do love brisket. The ham was good, turkey was good ( I did have a tad so I could feel festive ) and the ham was good too. They rest of the side dishes were AMAZING! Seriously we will be back! I heard they cooked 44 turkeys for today. Wow! Beside the little bumps the food was fantastic, the location was great, the building was rustic and perfect for a nice Thanksgiving dinner.
