The Rohan duck breast itself was cooked very well -- tender, properly rendered, and clearly prepared with care -- but what was never communicated by the staff was just how sweet the overall composition of the dish would be. Pairing that with cocktails that also leaned heavily sweet made the entire meal feel one-note and overwhelming by the midpoint of dinner. The red beans and rice suffered from the same issue. Despite the spice topping, the dish skewed surprisingly sweet and didn't complement the duck at all. What frustrated me most was that this felt entirely avoidable. At a restaurant with a cocktail reputation this strong, I would expect the wait staff to guide guests toward drinks that balance the meal rather than amplify the sweetness already present in multiple courses. Instead, no recommendations or warnings were offered, and the meal suffered because of it. I was especially underwhelmed by the Harlequin cocktail, which seems to receive a massive amount of online hype. In practice, it simply didn't justify the reputation. It wasn't bad, but it lacked the complexity and "wow" factor you would expect from a signature drink that's so heavily talked about. Overall, there are flashes of excellence here, particularly in the appetizer course and technical preparation, but the lack of thoughtful service and pairing guidance made the experience feel far less polished than advertised.

When you first opened up on decatur you were so very adamant about insisting to your neighbors like me that you guys had no affiliation with the previous restaraunt. You know the one that got shut down because a naked woman came running out of your property into a neighboring bar screaming rape after allegedly being assaulted by your head chef Mike Isolani. Well i did some digging and you guys may have a new name but spending $300 on a new llc doesnt exactly make it a different restaraunt. Its still owned and operated by the same womanizing A hole that has shown a pattern of hiring other womanizing A holes to fill the head chef position. Like Mike Isolani who threatened to kill a homeless mans dogs on christmass eve and had a naked girl come running out of his apartment screaming rape or their previous chef who only lost his job because he was doing time for beating on his wife. The women who work for your company all complain about innappropriate behavior from people higher up the latter but since you pay them more than most places they don't complain to you they complain yo the rest of the neighborhood. You might have the tourists fooled but us locals know what you guys are really about. read more

I visited Cane and Table twice during my trip to New Orleans, because the food and drinks were just that good. Finding a well-balanced cocktail in the French Quarter can be tricky, but Cane and Table nailed it. Food: The sweet plantains and pork skins (a twist on familiar chicharrones, as a Filipina and Mexican) were a standout. The pork skins were glazed with a sweet syrup that didn't overpower the savory flavor, offering the perfect balance. Drinks: their take on the hurricane (HOT TAKE: way better than Pat O'Brian's) and the modern Bombo were exceptional--perfectly balanced, neither too sweet nor too bitter. Vibes: The vibe of the place was fantastic. The brick interior with peeling wallpaper and candle wax drippings from years of use made the space feel full of history. The patio is also a peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter. Service: The servers here certainly knew southern hospitality. But, of course, the real boss of the place is Nunu the cat! (Iykyk). Overall, Cane and Table is a must-visit--good drinks, great atmosphere, and plenty of stories to tell within its walls. read more

Like most people who live in and visit this area, I've walked by Cane and Table many times, without having a clue about exactly how good their drinks are. For starters, they have hands-down the best Hurricane to be found in the Quarter; it's made in-house with fresh ingredidents and no mixes. In point of fact, the reason all the drinks here are exceptional is the that everything is house-made - even the Coconut Cream (their Pina Colada is to die for!). Their drinks are STRONG, and generously sized with a kick like a Mule, and if you're going to have more than one it's best not to driving ;-) Tip: In particular, their rum-drinks are sublime - their daiquiris are among the best I've had in recent memory. While I've been here a handful of times, I've never tried any of their food other than a couple of their small plates. Of those, my hands-down favorite is the Tostones (Twice Fried Plantains, Pikliz, Habanero, Salsa Verde), but you can't go wrong with anything on their small plates menu. read more

Went to Cane and Table on a friday night with a group of friends for happy hour and small plates. Excellent cocktails, very crafty bartenders, watching them making drinks was quite amusing. Favorite dishes: the ribs, the ceviche and the avocado salad were SOOO good that it was almost difficult to share! Favorite drinks: Calendula and The Last King. Also they make mean daiquiris. We just found everything a little pricey for the portion sizes, but service and ambience were great so no complains. Southern hospitality? I think not. If being treated like something to be scraped off the bottom of your shoe, then this is the place to go. Natasha, the bartender is abrasive and hostile to both customers and coworkers. It appears that men are exempt from this. I have been extremely offended by watching and being subjected to this overt horrific behavior for quite some time now and have taken to sitting on the patio. Now? I just won't go. This just place blew me away. I knew by reputation that the drinks would be top-notch but the food is the total surprise. The drinks and food are drawn from New Orleans' colonial-Carribean heritage. A bevy of rum drinks are featured on the cocktail menu while the food is definitely inspired by the city's Afro-Latin-Creole history. We shared these meals: Crudo - nice and light and did not feel too oily. I loved the shrimp chips. Perfect crunch Lemongrass gumbo - not my favorite. The lemongrass clashed with the flavor too much giving it a bitter smoky taste Bbq shrimp - loved the sauce with the right amount of char P&p salad - the superstar! It was such a good salad with so many different flavor components, texture and crunch. I enjoyed the roasted beets. The dressing was robust in flavor. We were told by our bartender that they make their worscheshire in house and it is a worscheshire dressing.

I asked whether we could sit at an empty table, but he said it was reserved for larger parties. After about 10 minutes, Kitan rudely told us to go outside because we were "hovering over people's food" - even though no one nearby actually had food. She directed us to stand by a pole in the blazing 90-degree sun. A minute later, she came back and got upset because we had moved into the shade, claiming we were blocking the menu. When a party of two approached, we politely moved aside without issue. Kitan then pointed us toward our table and said, "People come to New Orleans for the sun." Apparently, heat exhaustion is part of the dining experience. Even the couple behind us commented on how rude the staff was and decided to leave. Once seated, we could hear Kitan complaining to Adam about our refusal to wait in the scorching sun. Adam apologized for exaggerating the wait time, but that did little to make up for the terrible service. When I asked for a refill, his response was, "I'll think about it." Later, two smaller groups arrived and were seated at the same empty table we had been told was only for large parties. So much for that rule. The food was good, although it was served on a chipped plate. Overall, the meal couldn't make up for the rude, inconsistent, and unnecessarily hostile service. Apparently, shade, refills, and basic courtesy are all premium add-ons here.

One of them had a platter in front of her that literally made me stop in my tracks. I looked at Jordan and said, "We're turning around." Best decision we've made on this trip. We ordered the Cajun Platter with red beans, jambalaya rice, fried catfish, and grilled sausage. When I tell you this was one of the best meals I've had since arriving in New Orleans, I mean it. Every bite was packed with flavor. The catfish was perfectly fried, the sausage was delicious, and the red beans and jambalaya rice brought everything together into the kind of meal you dream about later. The food alone would earn five stars, but the service made the experience even better. Our bartender,Dee, had the most beautiful smile and welcomed us with that genuine New Orleans warmth. Every time she called us "baby," it felt like being welcomed into someone's home. That's the kind of hospitality you can't teach--it's authentic, and it made us feel right at home. The atmosphere, decor, and energy of the restaurant were exactly what you'd hope for in the French Quarter. The service was excellent, and our food arrived surprisingly quickly. We enjoyed the crab cakes, pastalaya, and shrimp creole, and every dish was packed with flavor. It's hard to pick a favorite because everything was delicious and full of that classic New Orleans comfort-food goodness. Between the great food, attentive service, beautiful setting, and wonderful company, this meal was one of the highlights of our trip. If you're looking for a fun dining experience in New Orleans with great food and a balcony view, Cornet is definitely worth a visit. We loved it!
