This was a great breakfast to start off a busy day! I'm usually not one to go out for the standard American brunch, but this place has amazing reviews so we gave it a shot. And now I can see why! Both my and my boyfriends breakfast skillets were great and the portions on those are huge! Also it's important to note that our coffee cups never got empty. Our server Casey was super awesome and was happy to help us out with whatever we needed. They also had flavored creamers on the table, which is something I can never turn down! We ended our breakfast with boxes and a fresh cinnamon roll. It was so great! Definitely worth the calories and paired perfectly with a cup of coffee. Food was just ok, if you like ice cold bacon and eggs, that's the place for you The server was smart enough to realize the we weren't eating and had more eggs done. Had the special with french toast, I think the bread didn't know how to swim so they passed the bread over the egg mixture rather than in it. Lots and lots of cinnamon, that's pretty much the only thing you could taste. Well, we gave this place a second chance, it was consistent, bacon was ice cold, toast that butter doesn't even melt on. Eggs were lukewarm. My pancakes were undercooked, tasted like batter. Coffee is great. Server very nice. Left her a good tip anyway, I think there's a lack of organizing somehow, table next to ours, didn't eat much of their food either. I think the plates stay undelivered until the servers get a chance to pick them up. It doesn't make much sense that everything in the plate is cold. Service is always phenomenal. I went almost every day for a week when I was staying in this part of town and the servers were always exceptional. They are very fast, attentive, and push this breakfast joint to the top of my list. Their pancakes are so delicious, definitely try one of the specialties! They have seasonal/changing pancakes too which are always fun. I always order a cheddar and extra crispy bacon omelette and it's fabulous every time. Try the home fries too! read more

I want to start out by saying that the food is good and the wait staff are very nice and friendly. However, this restaurant is NOT handicapped friendly. Their one HC parking place is at the front door, but no break in the curb to access the door. You must go around to the side of the building to the wheelchair access, where I've actually had to leave my husband in his wheelchair in the street to go inside and ask whoever's vehicle is blocking access to move. Then, once you've maneuvered all that, the sidewalk at the door is barely large enough to open the door and get inside without falling of the side. It's pretty clear they are not interested in accommodating the handicapped community. read more

We joined some friends here after black friday shopping. They eat frequently at the Southwood location & it was their suggestion, which was a very good one. We popped in around 8:15 & there were a few patrons already enjoying their breakfast. The menu has a pretty good selection of both breakfast & lunch. I ordered the chicken fried steak platter & was not disappointed. The hashbrowns were a little thin but nice & crispy. The coffee is by Lucky Goat & so delicious that I drank it black. You bet I said yes to refills. Our servers, yes plural, were extremely warm, friendly, and attentive, the wait for everything was very minimal. After our plates were cleared away & the bill paid, we lingered a little longer because we hadn't seen each other all year. The restaurant was filling up but we never felt pressured to leave. What do a Sweet Potato and Elvis have in common? They are both life-changing pancakes that you can order from the Canopy Road Cafe. The Sweet Potato Pancakes are topped with chopped pecans, praline sauce, and whipped cream. It sounds weird but if you have a sweet tooth you will be in heaven. I enjoyed the Elvis Pancake just as much, which has within the batter peanut butter, banana, and crumbled bacon. Gotta love the sweet and salty combination. Others in my group enjoyed their breakfast, too. The chicken and biscuits and traditional breakfast were good. The scrambled eggs were rather disappointing though. It was as though they were just swished around in the pan and cooked without much effort. Our server was friendly and extremely prompt. This location can get busy on the weekends. So either plan on coming early or visit during the week. I can't wait for our return visit to this diner. read more

The larger they have grown, the more their food and service has declined. I used to LOVE Canopy Road when they were newer and it was always my "go to" place to take the kids in Tallahassee. They had a relatively basic menu, with friendly servers that I knew by name, and you could not go wrong with anything that you ordered. I suppose that having to compete with Broken Egg has forced them to expand their menu and cut corners when it comes to service and food quality. While the food is not bad now, it's nothing to write home about and is slightly above Denny's quality for breakfast. In a larger market, Canopy Road would undoubtedly die a slow death, but in Tallahassee, where the options are fairly limited, Canopy Road is able to sustain themselves with mediocrity. read more

Family of three adults had a late weekday breakfast here. Good menu variety. Very tasty food. Super friendly helpful waitstaff. Food came out fast and hot. A little pricey for breakfast- meal came to $50 (incl tip) for the three of us- French toast, pancakes, eggs, bacon, grits, coffee, and tea. This place is exactly what I was looking for in a breakfast/brunch spot. Local, down home cooking but still with an adventurous flair. We had the Sweet Potato Pancakes, which were delicious and we also had one of their many skillets with corned beef hash and home fries. The home fries were the best I have ever had! Perfectly crispy and well seasoned. The staff was friendly, even on a very busy morning and even though it's a small spot, the atmosphere was pretty laid back and relaxed. Parking might be a challenge and there could be a wait, but as long as you are prepared for those setbacks, you will be fine. There are many more things on the menu I look forward to trying. This is the best breakfast in town! There are some great breakfast joints in the city of TLH, but Canopy Road Cafe--or any of the other Canopy Road Cafe locations here--are amazing. I could go on and on but suffice to say, THIS is where everyone in my family--especially my kids--wants to go for breakfast fare and the menu is outstanding for every set. The pancake offerings are creative and delicious, the omelette combos are great, and there are many other items on the menu that I see but pass over since I am vegetarian. It is always crowded and I never mind the wait. The owner is a super nice and classy guy who takes his customers' suggestions seriously. Brad knows what he is doing and it shows. We are new to Tallahassee and were happy to make Canopy Road Cafe one of our first local dining experiences. The food was delicious! I had the big daddy omelet, my husband had the mutt club and our son had the canopy road special. We all left full and satisfied. The portions are big so even the biggest eaters should leave happy. Not too bad! First time here, met a friend for lunch and only had an hour. Our waitress got my drink order and I asked her to check back for our food our after my friend arrived... I think she got trapped at another table, so we had to track her down to place our order. The delay caused us to not be able to finish our meal on our lunch break. Not too big a deal - she didn't know we were pressed for time. My food was pretty good, ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with waffle fries. I'm sure the waffle fries would have been amazing, but they were cold when they arrived at the table. I'll be back but I'll go with breakfast next time. read more

During our service an entire pot of hot coffee was spilled all over our table, coating the jeans and arm of my friend who was eating with us. Though I understand that accidents happen, we would have appreciated more concern from the staff. The staff did help us clean up and provided aloe for our friend's burn, but at no point did someone claiming to be a manager come and address the situation to us directly. Someone from our breakfast party called the establishment today to make the manager aware of the situation and was met with hostility from the manager who informed us that our waiter was one of the managers (that was never mentioned yesterday) and that "her meal was comped". The entire conversation seemed dismissive and unprofessional when all we wanted to do was make sure a manager was aware of what occurred. Overall, it was an awkward event and it was clear from the way we were spoken to on the phone and at the restaurant that they were more defensive than apologetic. read more

I usually get the BMOC omelet with cheese grits and of course Lucky Goat iced coffee (a local coffee shop), but everything they have is amazing. Canopy Road has the most underrated burgers you'll find. They are delicious! There are so many options on the menu and you can't go wrong with any of it. The portions are large and it tastes great!! The coffee was fresh and the place the staff was friendly. I sat at the bar and could see and hear the cooks cutting up and having fun! One of the spots I take anyone visiting me to for breakfast. It's the closest thing to a diner Tallahassee really has and it is good. I've never had a bad dish here and I've tried a lot at this point. A fave though are their multigrain pancakes with fruit; so tasty! I also have a love affair with their potatoes. This was my first trip to Canopy Road Cafe and it was a very good experience. Stopped in for lunch. Purchased an omelet (which comes with hashbrowns and toast) while my fiance got the house salad. Everything was delicious and the portions were larger than expected. The servers were very polite and very helpful. The only criticism on our visit was that it was a little too hot inside the restaurant and the back room felt a little cramped; however, neither of these things affected us enough to keep us from having a good experience. read more
