The food is not bad at all. The only thing that isn't too good is the service. But other than that, I'm impressed by the decorations and the cleanliness of the dining area. The waiters need to smile more to not give an awkward feeling when being served. The food is yummy. Their fried rice, orange chicken, white rice, beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken and so on is absolutely satisfying. I would return and recommend this place to a friend. For American style Chinese, I like the food a lot. What I didn't realize until yesterday is that my blood sugar spiked big time after a meal there. For a diabetic, that's not a good thing. I have a sneaking suspicion they use MSG. Not particularly impressed with this place. Service was just ok, the food came out at a good speed, but I always had to ask for a refill of water. I was rather hungry, so I had the sample platter and vegetarian garlic eggplant. The mustard sauce had a STRONG kick to it which was unexpected but fun. We've been several times and ordered a few different dishes each time. Always tasty and hot from the kitchen. Beer & wine list is quite limited, but at least it's offered. The restaurant is located in a strip mall, so doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside you'll find a spacious, clean, and decorated restaurant that is larger than you'd expect. It can be really cold in there, which some people might appreciate, but I bring a sweater. Service has always been friendly and usually fast, except when they are completely full. I've been coming here for almost for 5+ years and without a doubt my favorite Chinese Resturant in the Valley! I literally walk in without a menu and they all know my order "Mongolian Beef, just beef, XTRA spicy". The most flavor and tender meat option on the Menu, definitely recommend it. Had dinner here for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and I have been back 3 times since. The setting is calm and relaxed, and the food is amazing! VERY happy to have found this place. We were disparing of ever finding decent Chinese in the Valley, and finally we found it - thanks to a recommendation from a friend. It is owned by the same people that run China Wok (which I have not tried but will asap) but a little more upscale, apparently, in terms of decorations. They also have a full bar, and a broader menu than at China Wok. Both times we've eaten here has been off-hours, around 3 pm, so though service was fine, I don't know what it's like when there's more than a handful of customers. Food is more than adequate Chinese. Not blow-your-socks off flavorful or experimental fusion, but delicious, satisfying, nicely prepared & presented, honest-to-goodness what you hope for when you order Chinese. We live in San Francisco half the year, so that's my basis for comparison. Lunch specials are a great deal - I think $10 for soup, rice & entree (about 15 choices). We got there late this time (3:03!) so ordered off the regular menu; with hot & sour soup, spring rolls, rice, chicken & eggplant, and chili shrimp, and beverages, it came to $37. read more

Based on two visits to this restaurant, I'm not sure whether I will return or not.. 1st experience: had dinner here and was pleasantly surprised with how delicious the food was. Flavorful, well-seasoned food that was very memorable.. 2nd experience: had lunch and the food was horrible.. Greasy, overcooked, and zero flavor.. Here's the thing, we had the exact same dishes both times we went there(orange chicken, fried pork rice, lo mein pork), however the 2nd time was just horrible.. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! I wrote a review on another website. The food was bland, had no eye appeal and was tasteless. It resembled something that would be served to pigs - slop! We pushed our food around the plate, took 1 or 2 bites and left it! Not only that it was costly, no one cares (I do not) what food cost if it is presentable, tasty and wants you to return for another meal. When I was recording the charges on my Quicken I noticed that they have the Non-Cash Adjustment, again, I would not care if everything was great or even good. When I went on line to check my charges for the week, the restaurant had added another two (2) dollars to the bill! REALLY???? First of all, I know that I read somewhere that the restaurant must post - somewhere - that they are charging the NCA - for using credit cards. Well number one, they had this poor lady working the whole restaurant, no one helped her there were four people up at the hostess desk, standing around. Two the food came out barely warm. Three the bathrooms are disgusting I don't think they've been clean in God knows how long. You know what they say about the kitchen? Look at the bathroom! Very disappointing the manager really needs to do something about helping his employees and getting a REAL CLEANING SERVICE and somebody at least running the food out when it comes up while she's running her butt off and it's sitting back there getting cold!!!!! I ordered from here because Door Dash said the China Palace was closed only to find it open so wasted money (and dumped) the order. I was here in the past. They must have changed chefs or owners. This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Coachella Valley. The food is always fresh and delicious. My favorite dish is the orange chicken. They have the best wonton soup! The wait staff is friendly and always helpful. The manager is visible and readily available for any additional needs. We dine in occasionally, and sometimes call ahead and take it home. Service unacceptable!Me and my sister always come here once a week for lunch. My sister happens to be vegan and orders the vegetarian crispy spicy chicken and so did except I got the regular chicken when they brought it to us I noticed mine was more chewy than hers I could tell by the texture and the way the chicken looked that I got the vegan kind and she got the regular chicken kind. Our server was very nice about it but we noticed when she went to go tell the owner or manager him and the other hostesses were laughing at us. It looks like I was the last one doing a great review 9 months ago. I found this place and loved it right away! Was getting food only for myself the first night but ordered 5-6 dishes to taste and support the restaurant. I went back many many time after that to continue supporting the restaurant during the difficult time that we all went thru. I tipped the staff every time 40-50% to make sure that their are taking care as well and give them a better evening. I would write directly to Chef Ly directly but no contact email for the restaurant which leaves me no choice. Unfortunately my experience of last night changed everything and for sure Chef Ly is not aware of it as owner are rarely aware of the conduct of hourly employees. I'm in Food & Beverage business as well. I walked in last night with my son at exactly 8pm, couple tables were still there eating. When I approached the front desk to place an easy order to go (2 low mein exactly the same), I didn't even finish my sentence that the girls by the front say "We are closed". Not even sorry or what did you want to order? Let me check with the chef if we can do it... just, "We are closed"... business hours are what they are but what upset me was not trying to check to see if it was possible. We are in the business of service and give experience. unfortunately, I will give my business to someone that respect, appreciate my business and in similar situation... tries, at least! Very disappointing because the food is delicious but front of the house is careless and unprofessional.
