These guys lied to me and tried to convince me that the bladder in my pressure tank was bad and needed replacing. Had they done their job and looked around my yard they would have found that a leak in the PVC pipe was causing the pressure to drop. Instead, they shut off the water to my house while the wash machine was running. This caused the machine to malfunction and it never worked properly again. They can't be trusted. read more

Didn't use them, haven't used them but they are working on a neighbors property and without anyone discussing with us they dragged pipes and wires all over our garden. They even had the audacity to drop the heavy metal end on our stamped concrete garden path as to not dirty their equipment but potentially damage our property. Wifey goes out there and asks them what they are doing and the answer was 'well it's your neighbors job to inform you, we're just doing our job and we can do what we like'... Actually Capitola Pump it's call trespassing and no you cannot ... what an awful attitude and how unprofessional.. You would have thought it would have been easy to come up to the house and ask if it was ok ?.. Answer would have been yes but you didn't bother.....Shameful ! I took 4 pumps, two decent ones and two tractorsupply junk ones, to get them repaired on Monday. They told me they would make no promises on the junk ones. Wednesday I get a call "I have 3 of them working, what was wrong this last one?" Answer was that the impeller was toasted. They made them work, new pressure switches, new pressure gauges, $96. I've used these guys for my water system for 18 years. I could not be happier and could not say enough good things about this company and their people. I came home from the hospital on a Friday morning to find that our wells were not producing water. Several of our neighbors have had to resort to buying water so I was in a bit of a panic. I called Capitola Pump. Jacob was here before noon and discovered that the wells were switched off, probably from a prior power outage. He switched them back on and all was good. These guy are complete flakes. I was affected by the CZU fire and was without water. I called and made an appointment to replace a broken well pump, very simple. They scheduled an appointment, but never showed up, and never returned my phone calls. They don't even answer their phone. Do NOT use these flakes! I wish I had read the other reviews before I even bothered to schedule the appointment they flaked out on, now I am glad they never showed up to do a half assed overpriced job on my well!! In mid July we had them come out to replace our well pump. We needed an estimate and preauthorization so we could make an insurance claim. The insurance companies are sticklers for getting pre-authorization. We never got it, so they denied our claim. OUCH!!! .The job was over $4000 Then they brought to small of a truck out to the site, and this is after walking the site, so they charged us an extra $210 for their mistake. The crew finished the install but failed to tell us they were done or more importantly, to restart the booster pump so we went an extra 26 hours without water. As has been my experience, Keith ignored my many message and texts about all the problems . When I finally got him on the phone late the day following the work, he was very little help.. His suggestions were the usual, turn it off, turn it on, repeat. I finally contacted his competitor after 6 PM who happily walked me through how to restart the booster pump. My complaint is that Keith, the business owned never acknowledged my phone messages or my texts. He charged me for his crew's mistake and failed to finish the job. Most nights I hear the booster pump come on and pray that the work they did will last half as long as the original pump did. read more

If I could provide this company with less than one star I would. I got a call at 8am with an irate manager on the phone expressing to me that a bill had gone unpaid. While I understand that everyone has money to be collected, there was a lack of understanding that I had not seen the bill as the mail goes to an address in town. I travel and work all over the globe and it obviously slipped through the cracks. Instead of asking to send me the bill via email or otherwise, the alleged manager of this establishment began to talk to me as if I personally had done something to him. He lacked customer service skills, kindness, rationale or otherwise. He called to find out what was going on with an invoice and began badgering me about what the previous owners have done. I continuously asked him how that related to me and the current issue at hand. I would never allow one of my employees to talk to anyone that way regardless of the situation. Nor would I allow someone who did to stay on payroll. When you handle things incorrectly, your company is now painted in a bad light. Clearly this is not the first time he's acted this way as he had no problem doing it now. I'm sure others have experienced this poor customer service and he's been allowed to continue running the place. Further, I have had issue after issue with the water out at all of my properties. They aren't open when they say they are, they don't answer the phone. Yet when they are expecting to get paid, that is the only time they can easily be reached. If there were another company in town who could provide better and reliable service I would gladly switch over even if it cost me double. In conclusion, I would not give this company my business if this wasn't the only one in town. I suggest the owner consider who is running their business while they're away. read more

We have been a customer of theirs for decades. They have always been good and came out fast when we had well issues. I called them last week as our well was not working. They did not call me back. I called again a couple hours later and they told me that my account was closed due to an unpaid bill from 10 years earlier. They were not even going to return my call! I asked them to send me a copy of the bill which they did. The bill was stamped paid! I pulled out my copy and it also was stamped paid. I paid my credit card and the cc company can not pull up the records as it was over 7 years. My question is why did they never try to contact me to tell me there was an issue? They have not responded yet to my questions asking why they never contacted me and why it is stamped paid which I know it was paid. I called another company that came out and fixed the issue and was paid immediately. We have a new go to company! Why would you treat a customer of 30 + years this poorly? read more

The thing about well companies in this area is that there are only several so they happen Napali and they pretty much have you by the balls. LOL so initially I thought I had a good relationship with Capitola having them replace or put a brand-new pump on our well. Afterwords- and pass the niceties. I encountered several very disappointing things. First experience was when someone came out because the water pressure wasn't working correctly in the house. After being at our home and investigating different functions of the well for about an hour it seems like things were going to get complex. Then my neighbor simply pointed out that our filters needed to be changed. Tell the technician did not find the problem we were still charge the $125 fee. Which I thought was unfair and I thought it was very suspicious that they didn't check the most obvious thing first and diagnose it. Then I discovered the other day when I heard a strange rattling noise coming from the pump. That when they replaced the pump. they never bolted it to the platform. So basically the pump has been shaking all over the place now for over a year and almost came off of the platform. I wasn't about to involve them again. And hired a neighbor to properly mount the pump as it should've been done to begin with. So my experience has been consistently half assed work. read more

Probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced. The technicians seemed experienced enough, when they actually showed up. I signed up for a monthly service to clean my filters and not once in six months did they show up without me having to call at least 3 times to remind them that they need to come. I left many messages requesting that a manager call me, which never happened. I have since hired another company which has been fantastic. I'm astonished that Capitola Pump has stayed in business with such abysmal service levels. read more

Used to have a good relationship - but last few times the people came out did not know how to service my particular type of spring and water system. Got charged anyway after trying to negotiate a fair price for a nothing no value visit. Refused to pay. Toms well service fixed my problem easily in a 1 hour visit. When and if the technician makes the call they often don't communicate that they were there and what they did. You just get an invoice in about a month. Unreliable, not truthful, horrible service. We used the company to do a well and water test. Scheduling has been spotty from the beginning with no response back..The inspector that came out was given very clear instructions to take a water sample from a faucet inside the home to test for minerals/metals as part of the evaluation for the filtration system. This was repeated several times during the lengthy inspection in front of multiple people. It took twice the promised time frame to get results, which impacted our home purchase through the contingency period. At the end, there was no test performed from the sample taken inside the home. It took a week to understand that Capitola Pump didn't perform the water test and they denied being asked to do so. At the end, they stopped responding when we tried to reach out for a re-test several times. We ended up taking a water sample ourselves and driving all the way from San Jose to Watsonville. Keith who handled communication was quite bad and rude in how he handled the matter. read more

What can I say? We have been living in the Santa Cruz Mountains for more than 10 years. We have had numerous occasions to use their services over the years. Each time, the situation gets handled in a prompt and professional manner. On one occasion, we had very little water from our well for several months. We talked to many companies about the problem and even had to have water delivered. Capitola resolved the problem in one day! When one relies on a well for all their water, it is extremely important to have a reliable, knowledgeable and dependable company for your water related problems. Did the well inspection last week. Dean from Capitola Pump Co Inc provided great service. He was punctual, professional, smart and resourceful. While the pump was pumping, he didn't just idle around. He explained to us how the well and the pump works, he walked us through the property to show us where the pipe goes, and he found the septic tank for us even though it was not part of his job description. He was very helpful and very nice. Most importantly, he is a guy with great integrity. When I asked for his personal cell phone so I can call him next time we need well service, he didn't give it to us, instead he explained that a contractor out working was not supposed to do that. They have been nothing but awesome, friendly and always solved our issues. sure, once or twice it took a couple of trips but didn't charge twice. I know I did deal with a technician once who was not that knowlegeable. When I told the office they sent a more experienced technician who brought the less experienced tech with him.
