About a year ago my Rheem water softener died so I decided to up my game and purchase one from the Clean Water Systems because I thought they would carry a better product and I would get better service if needed than from a big box store---NOPE! First-I paid almost 3 times as much for the system than if I would have purchased one from Home Depot or Lowes. Second-The installation I had done on this new product was done by a pro and the programming of the unit went well. Third-Soon after the system was installed it began doing erratic things like regenerating at different times than the one that was set. The regeneration time was cleared and reset multiple times only to have the softener revert. Fourth-I called and Emailed the customer service rep. and he tried to correct the regeneration problem by walking me through the steps but none of those fixes worked. He then contacted the manufacturer and they responded with a new fix but that did not work either. Fourth-The owners manual is THE WORST!!! It is just a cobbled selection of random instructions, almost like you walked into the middle of a conversation and then try to understand what is the gist of that conversation. Early on when I commented on this I received a call from someone at the Clean Water Store and she wanted to know and understand how they could improve the manual. I suggested she look at how Rheem or Whirlpool or GE does it. Their instruction/owners manuals whether printed or online are clear and concise. Doing so would probably eliminate many questions and Emails to the service reps. Fifth-Here I am a year later with an outstanding service ticket. A few days ago the rep. contacted me and said he was going to close out that open ticket. I replied the manufacturer never helped us correct the regeneration problem. He stated, they never got back to him. Sixth-My impression and experience shows that once you purchase from the Clean Water Store you are on your own. The service rep. tried his best but like me he was left in the lurch. The warranty on the product from the manufacturer is worthless, it means nothing. The owners of the Clean Water Store should take heed, they can not ignore ongoing product problems that affect their customers. If they continue to not serve their customers, their customers will find a company that does. STAY WAY! You would be better off throwing your hard earned money in the street. read more

Order chlorinator system 3 months ago pump went out . Hooked up correctly ,in weather proof area no reason for it to go bad just poorly ,cheap product for 600 plus . Called and said would send new pump . Spoke to tech and customer service and both said would send in for request to have it expedited being we were now smelling rotten eggs in home . Did not approve it and now we have to wait for a week . Called said they can't change it now that's its in route. If would of sent overnight or 2 days because of the inconvenience would of been nice being it's not our fault their system went back so quickly . Wish I just got my money back as it's cheaply made . I've had a reverse osmosis drinking water I got from Clean Water Store in 2011, and now 13 years later, it needed a new tank, and I figured why not change the filter cartridges too while I'm at it. The staff were super helpful figuring out what I needed to order, the parts were all in stock, I went down and picked them up and it was like a 5-minute operation to change out all those components on my system - and I didn't even need any tools! We purchased a Clean Water system in 2022 and absolutely love having soft water in Santa Cruz. Recently we had a very small leak from an O-ring, which apparently is very rare. Instead of sending me parts to "fix it myself", Bryan and crew came out the next day and replaced my entire control unit at no charge. This type of customer service seems to be very rare these days so it was very unexpected, yet very much appreciated. Thank you to Lianne and Scott as well for facilitating a resolution. read more

I recently bought a home with a clean water system in it. The staff at Clean Water Systems has no knowledge of the system. They keep referring me to someone who will call me back and they never call me back. I finally sent an email to Scott Harmon and he responded back to me to go somewhere else they did not want my business. I am shocked what a way to run a company very very poor. read more

These folks were knowledgeable and helped us through every step of getting the right products for our water filtration system. They saved us over $15,000 in putting together a system that did not require the reverse osmosis system we had previously. I contacted the company and complained about how long it was taking to receive my order. They checked into the problem and as it turned out the issue was with the California(CA) United States Postal Service(USPS). I checked into that as well and there is definitely a problem there. Even listened to interviews where employees described mail and packages sitting in distribution locations for over a week. And the new California Postmaster General has made cuts to save money but also severely damaged the service reliability of the CA USPS. In summary the delivery delay is not the fault of the Clean Water Systems & Stores. The Clean Water Systems & Stores sent another package of the same parts, at their cost, via UPS, which did arrive promptly! read more

These guys are incredibly helpful, thorough and honest. I went there inquiring about a possible ozone or other high cost filtration system for a home I had in escrow and they heard the concern and suggested a much more affordable option which totally alleviated the issue with the sulfur odor in the water system for a fraction of the cost. I cannot recommend them highly enough, very knowledgeable and they have high integrity and excellent customer service. Found them online when I was researching water softeners online. I have problematic, very hard well water and wanted to get a really good system without spending over $5k for a system like Kinetico and other major 'brands.' After extensive research and getting estimates from some of the top water softener companies, I decided to purchase a softener and a whole house carbon filtration system from the Clean Water Store. I was really impressed with their service from beginning to end. They tested my well water at no charge. After determining exactly what was in my water, they recommended a system. Answered a ton of questions (very patiently) and I was able to order the system I wanted at a decent price. They were very good about helping me through issues during and after installation. Dealt with several people in the store and I have to say they were all very nice. read more

I bought some property near Yosemite with arsenic in the water. Everything else was fine. I wanted a whole house filter to remove the arsenic and purchased a system that cost over 5k. A local plumber installed it and after cheap plastic parts that broke 3 times we finally got it working. Horrible horrible results. The water may have been arsenic free, but is smelled like iron and sulfur. The water turned brown and was unusable for anything - not even bathing or laundry. Running a faucet would make the room smell of rotten eggs. Bypass the filters - everything would go back to normal: no smell, clear water (but had arsenic). Turns out the plumber installed 2 tanks in reverse order, but all agreed hat shouldn't really matter. Clean water's customer service was great, but consisted of "flush the system", "hmm try flushing the system with bleach" and then no response. I wanted to return a portion of the product since its now junk that clearly wont solve my issue. They are unwilling to stand by their product and will not return any portion of the purchase. My advice - find a company that sells AND installs whatever system you purchase. I'm caught between a plumber and seller blaming each other while I hold a 5k system and still cant drink my water. read more
