Got the shrimp scampi, wasn't the typical scampi with garlic and olive oil, but a cross between shrimp scampi and Manhattan clam chowder. Salad was fresh and plentiful, dessert was a choice of several, got the double chocolate cake, who could complain? Service was attentive, Tuesday night at 6pm. Can get busy, but in these times be patient. Tough to find any help these days. Atmosphere was fine, newly updated interior, didn't check out the bar, but I hear it is awesome. I actually enjoyed this place. It was hard to park in, had great looking tables with quite the view to them, had some awful beers on tap, but also had a fantastic fish sandwich. This is my local spot and it always hits the mark. The staff are incredibly nice and friendly and the food is unrivaled. The gyros always het the spot and the homemade pasta is incredible. Sometimes I get nervous when a restaurant has an extensive menu but we've never had a bad experience. Many of the restaurants in town have basically the same menu and it's so nice to have a great Greek restaurant with great food as an option. The bar is fun and Dave the bartender is just an all out nice guy. And I know George treats his staff well which is always a plus. read more

Friendly service and very good food! I had the lobster mac & cheese and my son had the swordfish. Both were soooo delicious but honestly the two shining items were the lobster in the mac & cheese and the rice with the swordfish. Usually the rice would be so secondary but it was so tasty and it complimented the swordfish so beautifully. The lobster in the mac & cheese was so generous and it was such an elevated mac & cheese! Unfortunately this restaurant is severely understaffed (at least for tonight). 1 cook and 2 servers for the whole restaurant which is completely ridiculous for ownership and management to allow. Especially considering their new outside bar had plenty of patrons eating and drinking. We barely got waters or drinks and waited about an hour and a half to get our meals. We'd consider updating a review if we ever decide to come back but this is unacceptable to keep a restaurant open like this with such short staff no matter the circumstances. To boot the wait staff didn't seem to care or have any motivation to be working there and half of one of the meals didn't even come out. We are relatively low maintenance people and have empathy towards restaurants and the industry but this one doesn't make any sense. For the record the food was pretty good. Hats off to the chef. Service was quite slow even though there were 2 servers, one was quite rude and the other messed up my order even though I literally pointed to what I wanted. Only plusses were the $5.99 sangria and the fact they had special deals (salad, entree, and dessert). One of my all-time favorite seafood spots on Cape. Worked here in high school and have loved it ever since. In the summer, it's awesome to sit outside, but also love the interior atmosphere or trying to snag one of the few seats at the bar. Some of my fave menu items include the clam chowder or seafood stew, the Cape Cod Reuben, and the Fisherman's Platter. If they happen to have the buffalo chicken mac and cheese or the any mac and cheese special, it's a MUST. I've tried recreating their mac and cheese recipe for YEARS. I've always found Captain's to be fun and delicious . Unfortunately I was disappointed last night . No Tito's vodka in stock. I ordered the haddock parm . The meal arrived and the presentation was saddening . It looked as if the chef had thrown a handful of noodles in a soup bowl , thrown on a piece of previously fried haddock and dumped a little sauce on top . Even the grated cheese wasn't melted . The meal was bland. I thought parmesan dinners were supposed to be warm and bubbly after coming out of the oven . This was not the case at all . No Love in This meal . We saw thier bar menu on face book and just had to stop in and check it out. The place is clen and well kept, the bar tender was attentive and polite. Plenty of parking. Only 14 seats at the bar. No popular beer on draft (just my opinion) domestic beers are $5 bottle. Foods here, broiled fish sandwich, sorry not impressed, dry pieces of haddock and a bun, mostly bread. The baked scrod was fine. Both meals ordered with mashed. Mine was half the size of hers. Buter nut squash was tasty. We might be back for a second time idk. read more

I do not recommend this restaurant. First my crab cakes were burnt and inedible! Second my daughter ordered gluten free shrimp scampi and not only was in awful- it made her super sick all night long. Great experience at the bar here during our visit to Sandwich! The bartender, Everett, was super personable and really friendly. My friend and I were looking forward to the newly renovated Capt Scott's restaurant. We had ordered baked stuffed haddock and baked stuffed cod. Both dishes came with a choice of potato and vegetable. My issue came with the fish on both dishes. Neither fish dish came with a stuffing, only with a cracker topping. I asked out waitress, who was very accommodating, about this and she went back to the chef. She came back and said that the chef said it was "on the top." What??? Where?? Anyhow, disappointment was the word for the evening. This is and will be out last visit to Capt Scott's. read more

I am a first timer at Captain Scott's. I ordered 2 Greek Salads mid afternoon. Went to canal ....opened them up and WOW. beautiful!!! This salad was so fresh and the dressing perfect. This place is excellent. The menu is extensive. We had the special Lobster Fra diavolo. It had 1/2 lobster, scallops, shrimp and haddock. Outstanding. I frequent Fishermans view but the service and menu here are much better. It seems like it's hard to find but will be a regular now. Service was also great. Hard to believe there are still some great restaurants out no one knows about. Nice to walk in and not see a large help wanted sign. read more

This little restaurant serves excellent seafood and Greek food. It's easily overlooked by those driving by on their way to more popular restaurants that are fortunate enough to have a view of the nearby Cape Cod Canal, but those people are missing out on the superior food and the more reasonable prices of Captains Seafood Bar & Grill (new name). As someone who prefers the social aspect of bar seating, I avoided this place in the past because they didn't have a bar, but recent renovations have brought a small inside and outside bar to the restaurant. Now those that are by themselves can sit at the bar and enjoy a great meal without the awkwardness of sitting alone at a restaurant table. Don't dismiss this great little restaurant if good food at a good price is more important to you than a good view somewhere else nearby. Withholding one star because I typically don't feel full after eating a meal here. This could be corrected by providing more of the main dish, or at least by providing a more generous portion of the sides, such as more potatoes and vegetables. read more

We are Sandwich residents and visit the restaurant often. However, my experience with the coffee last night was not good. I asked for a decaf after my dinner and the waitress let me know she would brew a fresh cup of coffee... minutes later she returned with a cup of coffee that tasted horrible and cold. I asked her if that was a decaf and she rudely responded "Yes, I made it myself." I have to say that I was disappointed by the answer. It is not a rule of thumb, but it would be nice if she had asked why I was asking about the coffee... mainly because the bill was already paid. read more

We live in the area but hadn't been here for years - but decided to try it after driving by and seeing it had been renovated. From the minute I walked in, I felt as if there was something off about the restaurant - as the renovation looked very hodgepodge to me inside. We both ordered different preps of salmon, and both of us were very unhappy with the taste. I don't think the salmon was bad (not sick yet) but the overall flavor was completely off - I couldn't even eat the spinach or mashed potatoes (favorites of mine) served with it. We sat outside and found that patio to be very unappealing too with mismatched furniture and paint, and no ambience whatsoever. Julie was an excellent server and this is no reflection on her. No way! 6 of us had dinner just after Captains opened after renovations. Looks great. The waitstaff totally unfocused. One person's haddock & scallops came w/o scallops. We had to ask for EVERYTHING -- water, cutlery, knives to go with bread & butter. Waited way too long for everything. First of all, it's a casual, nautical space, warm and friendly staff. I ordered the fish and chips which was served with cole slaw. Oh, WOW! First of all, the fish was haddock, a good chef's choice, batter was light, crispy and delicious! Fish was fresh, and sweet! Cole slaw was house made and spot on! I'm often disappointed in restaurant cole slaw because it's too vinegary. Not Captain Scott's! It was mellow, creamy and full of flavor. My server was very nice and professional.
