The food was very good. It was served hot and fresh and portion size was huge. Service was excellent, although there is no wait staff. This restaurant is a more fast food approach to the traditional sit down seafood restaurants. It was clean and comfortable.

I pass this place all the time and decided to stop by for dinner. They have a good amount of seating but it seems to be more of a takeout spot so it was a pretty quiet dinner spot. The place overall seemed clean and bright but there were a couple tables that looked like needed to be wiped off. Everything on the menu looked pretty good. I decided to give the catfish nuggets a try with a side of Mac and cheese and collard greens. The nuggets were a lot better than I was expecting. The fish was so flaky and the breading was the perfect about of crispiness. The collard greens were cooked well but were a little bland. Wish it also included a protein or something in it. The mac and cheese tasted a lot better than it looked. It was wasn't great but it was kind of what you'd expect of a fast casual spot. I really liked all the lemonade flavors they had. All of them were pretty good and I definitely recommend trying them out if you're not afraid of a little sugar.

Husband and I had a craving for something fried. This was the closest spot to where we were at. Inside is full of Detroit signage. My husband being from Detroit thought it was very interesting the inside was very clean nice simple set up. I ordered catfish nuggets while my husband ordered fillets I got jalapeños poppers and my husband got French fries. We sat down and they brought the food to us. I thought we would be picking it up at the counter so that was a nice surprise. Our sides came switched on our platters but that wasn't a big deal. We each ordered larges and they were a lot of food we took half home. The hushpuppies were cooked well and the coleslaw had a nice flavor. The actual catfish was seasoned perfectly and fried with enough crunch. Definitely would return to try more of their menu

Let me start by saying OMG!! Y'all the fried corn is everything! This was my first time visiting The Captain's Catch and I will be returning. Saleem said that the fried corn was the best, and I believe it! The service was great and the place had more than enough room to dine if you choose to do so. The vibe was nice, I think you will like it. Try them out, you won't be disappointed.

Decided to visit while in the area and I wasn't disappointed. For $16+ tax you can get a 2 protein combo with a side and drink. I got the chicken tenders and fried whiting filets. Everything was fresh and made to order. Both meats were seasoned to perfection. Plenty of seating if you care to dine in. I'm not in the area often, but I'm sure I'll be back!

This message is directly for Musa Z, the owner who previously responded to my former reviews. Please follow up with me. Today I called while walking through Food Lion, hoping to order and have it ready to pick up quickly. I called and when someone finally picked up they put me on hold and never came back. I purposefully kept the line active to see if they'd come back or to show them when I got to the restaurant. The guy just said "well I just took someone's order" which meant the phone was working. While waiting another person came in and asked if the phone was working. Apparently it was but they are being selective with orders which impacts your profits.

Pick 2 is the way for me to go, I eat lot after an intense workout I decided I wanted some seafood, not ideal after workout but moderation is key. I ordered picked two comes with fries and drink. I got fried corn on the cob and added coleslaw with shrimp and whitening. The fish was fried crispy and flavorful the shrimp as well, it's almost like they used a different seasonings or breading. Will be back when I want some quick seafood by far one of the best compared to a liby hills or long john. The sides are seasoninged I recommend the corn and coleslaw, next time I will try mac and cheese. Overall portion for the price 4.5 out of 5 .

We ordered take out on Friday for lunch and got a bunch of things to try. We ordered fries, hush puppies, the fried chicken sandwich, catfish nuggets, fried corn on the cob, and Mac n cheese. Overall, everything was great. The breading on the fried items was good, the sauces were great, and the flavor was great as well! The only notes we had is that the seasoning on the fries wasn't distributed evenly (but still really good) We definitely recommend the catfish nuggets and the fried corn on the cob!

Cod Dinner

This is a compact, primarily takeout spot (though there is some inside seating) with a similarity compact menu - Fried Seafood (fish, shrimp & oysters), Chicken (including wings & tenders - but go for the legs and thighs), country cooking sides (including Fried Corn and Mac & Cheese), and a couple of dessert choice. On this visit I chose the Fried Cod with Fried Corn (on the cob). The order was ready in just under 15 minutes, and couldn't have been more on point. The 2 nice sized pieces of Cod were nicely battered (not to heavy), and perfectly fried, flaky under the batter, as it should be. The Fried Corn was delicious, well covered in butter - not the healthiest way to eat corn, my how good. The several Hushpuppies were nice as well, with just a touch of sweetness on the back end of a bite! Ambiance - 3.5 Food - 4.5 Service -3.5 (efficient but aloof) Value - 4

The fish is fried fresh when ordered so it is always hot and the portions are generous. The place is average noise levels and very clean. There is not table service but the staff were all friendly and courteous. I had the daily special which was a choice of any two meats with a side and drink. I chose the catfish and flounder. You get two pieces of each.

I threw the suggestion out to Sally and she thought it would be fun to try something new so she picked me up, we got on Gate City Boulevard and drove west until we found this place in a small strip mall. The outside won't necessarily draw your attention, but once you step inside this simple takeout/ dine in spot, the experience is totally different. As soon as we walked in we were approached by a gentleman who must have been the owner. He was incredibly kind and appreciative of our patronage. He explained all the dishes and a little bit about the company itself. This guy was full of pride about Seafood Destiny and I was impressed. Besides dining inside, they offer takeout and catering services. He was particularly proud of some of his dishes and when he told me that the crab legs was a special tonight for $20, I knew that was the best fit for me. You pay at the counter after you choose your selection and then have a seat and wait for your food to arrive. We were the only ones in the restaurant, although I did see a few people pop in for takeout. I could not help but wonder with it being so empty whether the great reviews would match up to what they claimed. I got my Diet Coke from the fountain machine with unlimited refills which always makes me happy. After chatting for a while with Sally, this huge plate came my way. The crab legs special for $20 was amazing. Not only did it have plenty of crab legs, but it came with a half-dozen beautiful shrimp with excellent seasoning, turkey sausage, corn on the cob and delicious scalloped potatoes. I ordered a side of asparagus. Although it was tasty. I don't know if the asparagus was worth $5. On the other hand, the main dish was a real bargain!! The food was delicious. Sally ordered salmon with pasta and loved her dish as well. I just ate and ate and ate and ate and eventually devoured the entire dish. Boy, that was good. No doggy bag here! We were each served a special dipping sauce from the Seafood Destiny. It was sweet and tasty but I was happy to just devour the fish as is. It was well seasoned and scrumptious While we were eating, a young man came out to chat with us. Something told me he was the son of the owner or he was indeed the manager or both lol. We had a nice chat about the place and it's history and he really appreciated our visit and hoped we would spread the word. I will! We arrived at 6:30 and before we knew it it was 8:00 and the place was beginning to close. I devoured my last crab leg, got a refill on my diet Coke and we headed out. Both Sally and I discussed on the way home what a delicious meal that was, how lovely the owners and staff were and what a shame that there not more people in the restaurant. I am hoping that was a fluke on a Tuesday night because Seafood Destiny definitely deserves customers. The place was simple, but the welcoming staff, the good priced seafood meals, the plentiful portions, and most of all, seeing the incredible pride and love the owners put into this place made it a winning combination for me I'm always a big fan of family owned operations and Seafood Destiny deserves your patronage. Whether it's shellfish or salmon or grouper, I highly recommend you head over to this place. As unassuming as it is on the outside, the inside was a delicious and welcoming experience!. I will be back and I hope to see you there!

We ordered drinks and an appetizer and they came out fairly quickly. The Korean BBQ Spring Rolls are very good! Now for the not so good part. We ordered the fish and chips to split- that was all we ordered after the appetizer and it took forever for our order to be brought to the table. We watched a couple tables around us, get their food before us, and they had been seated after us.. The server had to go back and check on our dish a couple times before it finally came out. I will say the fish and the chips were fabulous, but the corn was terrible and should probably not even be included on the dish. It was WAY overcooked and chewy. The coleslaw left quite a bit to be desired as well. No seasoning, no flavor and was just bland. When it says wasabi coleslaw, I am thinking it is going to have a little bit of a kick to it but nothing. They could definitely save themselves some money by eliminating the corn from this dish, make the coleslaw an option as an up charge and could lower the price on the dish in general or add a third piece of fish instead of the corn and coleslaw. Overall, it's definitely the best fish and chips we've had since moving to the area, but I would order it with no corn or coleslaw next time.

We started out with cocktails. I had a Hendricks dry martini straight up (it was delicious) and my wife had a Don't Call Me Sweetie which is mix of Hendrick's Gin, Lemon, Cucumber, Basil, Simple, Saline 15. It is very citrus heavy, so be advised. She had them cut it with a bit of cranberry to offset the citrus. For main courses, my wife had the grilled salmon and she chose sautéed garlic spinach and wasabi slaw as her sides. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my side was blackened green beans. Let's talk main course first. My wife's salmon was terrific. Flaky and moist and very tasty. My shrimp and grits was unique because it was a real balance between large pieces of shrimp and the grits. Many times you'll order this dish and end up with a pile of grits with some shrimp sprinkled on top. This version is very tasty and a really nice balance of flavors. The Cajun seasonings have it some kick, but it did not overpower. The side dishes are where we had a couple of surprises. First off the sautéed spinach was really delicious, but my wife's wasabi slaw was bland. It's a huge shocker because when you see the word wasabi, you expected to have some Asian kick to it. This did not. It was hard to even identify that it had wasabi in it. That was a disappointment. The surprise was the blackened green beans. They actually were one of the stars of the show. Their flavor and texture was just awesome. We could've ordered a huge bowl of it and eaten all of it. While it didn't need it, there was a dipping aïoli on the side, just in case we wanted to add that to the green bean experience. As I mentioned off the start, Fishbones is a very casual experience. It's very pub-like in that way. We really loved it and the wait staff, which is a team approach as anyone who passes you makes sure you're doing OK, were kind, upbeat and helpful. Even with the bland slaw, we can't lower our rating because overall the experience was terrific. We will definitely come back.

These chairs were not the kind you would usually sit outside to eat in, more built for reclining with a drink in hand. It was not comfortable to sit forward and eat my meal. But man, was that meal ever delicious. Chips came out with three types of salsa, and we ordered the guacamole provincial to go with them as well. The chips on their own were decent, but each salsa had a unique flavor and amount of heat that kept things interesting. The guacamole was chunky and full of flavor, with a good enough portion for the four of us. When the meal came, it was clear I had won dinner. I got the "Mezcali's Best" which honestly, I think it was their best effort. Grilled steak, chicken, shrimp, onions, peppers, and zucchini in a chipotle queso sauce. Man. THAT SAUCE. That sauce just simply made the whole thing incredible. To the point when I cleared my plate, my wife had me scrape the sauce onto what was left of hers. In addition, the refried beans had an excellent flavor, I am not usually big on the beans... but this one had me wanting more. Chips used to scoop up some beans, rice, and sauce... were so so good. I would definitely come back here, probably sit inside, and order the Mezcali's best (or anything I can get that chipotle queso sauce on) again.

We decided to try different versions of their tex mex combinations in order to taste a number of different items on the menu. My wife opted for the combination with two options while I went for the three. Her two were a soft chicken taco and a chili relleno. My three were an enchilada, a soft taco, and a quesadilla. Let's talk first about the stars of each dish. The chili relleno was very flavorful and my wife enjoyed it immensely. For me the quesadilla, which, if you look at the picture, it appears more like a taco, was also very delicious. It was a unique version of a quesadilla, as it was not pressed as they normally are on a flat top. As for the rest of our meals, the entrées suffered from a serious lack of seasoning and flavor. The refried beans were bland and non-descript. The red sauce on the enchilada was more like a marinara sauce. It had very little Mexican spice and flavor. Both of our soft tacos were mostly cheese and lettuce, and the meat, in our case chicken, was not seasoned very well. Once again, it all leaned bland. A few other things to point out. The margaritas we had were tasty, but the "16" ounce glass seems closer to 12 and it was 70% ice as you will see in the pictures. I will also say that a vast majority of the menu is very pricey. We are always willing to pay more for great food. Sadly, the food at Gusgueras falls short.
