We love the convenience of this place because we can bike to it from our summer home. We used to love their breakfasts but decided to try lunch there today. Food and speed were on point. I'm sorry to say they really fell down on service, however. There were two ladies working that just seemed 100% annoyed that my family and I were even there. By accident we grabbed a soda from the refrigerator that is to the right of the counter (as we used to do precovid). I was immediately reprimanded by the two ladies and granted there was a sign that I missed but they could have been nicer. They brought out our food without saying a word, never asked if we needed anything again and overall gave attitude when we asked for straws (they didn't have any) and more ketchup. I'm sorry but if you don't like people then don't open. Sorry to say - we have been regulars here but won't be returning anytime soon. Maybe it's just me but when I pay over $50 for lunch for 4, I don't need a side of attitude. Sorry Captains, maybe next year. I'll go somewhere where my business and money is appreciated. read more

I guess its been standard in the Cape for a while to pay $30 for a plate of fried clams. For that money, you might expect to receive a heaping pile of clams. Resigned to the tourist pricing, we dove into our wallets hoping for a memorable portion. Instead, we got a heaping pile of mediocre fries and a handful of clams. Me and my girlfriend went to Captains Choice and I have to say I wasn't very impressed. While the food was okay, the prices were WAY too high for the quality. Delicious! The guide at the Highland Lighthouse recommended Captains Choice for lunch. He said the owner is a fisherman who brings in fresh seafood, etc. I had the barbecue chicken sandwich with chips, my daughter had chicken tenders and fries, and my husband had a scallop roll. The food for most of my family was in their words "good". Lobster roll... c'mon you work in New England and have, I am guessing had a real Maine or in CT, lobster roll. This was scraps of lobster meat, sautéed with breadcrumbs, very dry and unworthy of being called a lobster roll. Just take it off the menu. The outside seating with the bugs were a complete disaster after sundown. Albeit the place closes at 9p so I am sure non-issue for most of their serving time. I did like the ambiance and waitress seemed nice but lobster roll and bugs need some work. Also for appetizers a serving spoon would be helpful. read more

So happy that Captain's Choice moved on in to North Truro. This place is awesome to get a quick, yet delicious meal. Their fish tacos are some of the best that I have ever had (HIGHLY recommend). Overall the food was good. Service was wicked slow, though the waitresses were friendly. The chicken tenders were probably the best part of my meal; perfectly crispy with a bit of a kick. My burger was mediocre at best, little flavor and nothing to write home about. My date for the fish and chips, which were okay. I don't know if this place always uses plastic cups, or if the dishwasher was broken, but drinking water out of a small plastic cup when I'm paying $12 for a bland burger seems off. They offered a Sierra Nevada in a can for about six dollars, and a plastic cup to drink it from. We sat outside, which was lovely, though we began to get bitten by mosquitos-- citronella torches could have been helpful. I will give this place another try, see if the speed of service improves, if I get adult glassware and if the burger gets more exciting... If not, I'll invite the chef over to my place and make them a burger that will Blow their socks off!!! read more

I got a Cheeseburger and asked to sub their homemade chips with fries, they forgot to sub the chips so I was forced to try them. They weren't seasoned and unenjoyable how crunchy/crisp they are. The burger itself was actually pretty good. My friend got a "Charlie's Angel" which is a buffalo chicken sub, he loved it. He also asked for a side of fries, which he never received so we had to go up and ask for them and found she never put it in so we then had to pay (happily but still we should have already paid for them since this was our second time asking for them). The fries were average, run of the mill fries. The service was friendly, the prices were high. read more

We found this restaurant, in a quaint older section of Truro by accident as we were looking for a place to eat that wasn't over crowded. It looked like a simple outdoor Pub, but after eating our meals, we said WOW. The food was great and it was a pleasure eating outdoors on a warm night. Service was great also. This was quite a find. We always look up the ratings when we go out to eat whenever we're in an unfamiliar area. We chose captains choice for lunch today. The reviews on trip advisor were excellent, the reviews on Yelp were also excellent other than one horrible review left by........JB from NY. We hesitated going there at first but then the five of us decided to overlook the one negative review and try it nevertheless. We though a place like this can't get such great reviews and then all of a sudden get this horrible review. Am I glad we did as the place was really great from the friendly staff to the fresh seafood dishes we all had. The manager/owner checked on us several times and was very pleasant. we also found the place very clean, bathroom included. As for the food we ordered, we started with a couple of appetizers which were their buffalo wings and some raw oysters. I had the captains platter which included cod, scallops, shrimp, clams, oysters and calamari. Wow, all cooked to perfection with a light breading served with fries and Cole slaw. My wife had the sea scallops which were in a light batter and tasted absolutely great. The other three people in our party had the jumbo shrimp, clam strips and fish and chips. Everyone loved their food and we decided to come for breakfast saturday morning. I will leave another review on our breakfast experience next week. The person who wrote that negative review must have been thinking about another place as this place was very good in all aspects. Also, reading ........JB from NY, his review, if the place was so bad, why didn't he complain? Maybe because it's BS. if he's really from NY, as a New Yorker myself, believe me New Yorkers would have said something immediately rather than cowardly writing this review. I went to this restaurant last night with friends, and we enjoyed everything we tried. You place your order at the counter and your food is brought to you. They serve classic Cape Cod food at its best: creamy clam chowder, delicious fried clams, scallops, shrimp and fish. The tuna sashimi tacos were a huge hit as well. The service was pleasant and fast. They have tables both inside and outside to choose from and takeout service as well. I will be returning to check out more of their menu as the season continues. The only thing on the menu is Bob's Wings. Otherwise it's soggy fried food. The young woman at the counter was very polite but I was sat at a table near the owner (longtime resident and well known man about town Chris King) and he was very gruff and irritated talking on the phone. It really ruined the atmosphere. Good luck finding honest reviews on here. I know that they pay for the Yelp account they hold and have the ability to remove negative reviews. We went to this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. We tried to sit at an empty table, and the bartender told us we could not sit at the table because a band was going to set up nearby. The tone of the bartender's voice was rude. Even though I was with an elderly person, we were given no guidance or help in finding a table. Just got back from dinner there. Nice outdoor seating and fresh seafood. Inexpensive-ish compared to the P-town alternatives. Beyond the naive, super young seasonal kids doing the serving (this has been our experience all over the Cape), only complaint is the fairly limited menu. Primarily rolls and tacos. Something to consider if you're looking for a big meal and pasta dishes with seafood. We had a late big lunch so it worked for us. But don't go on an empty stomach. Our calamari app was fresh though strangely soggy / not crispy. Also I got actual chips (not fries) with my scallops taco. Drink options are also limited but had a decent glass of Chard which did the trick. Beer snob husband enjoyed his beer choice. To continue the theme of limited options, the kids menu is also quite small. We have kid connoisseurs so also a non-issue for us, but didn't see mac & cheese for those with picky kids. In all, no major complaints on the food, service is the same everywhere with young kids who don't know anything about the food or wine. read more

This restaurant does not have the proper implements for eating whole lobster- just the cracker. It's frustrating trying to pick out lobster meat from the shell with a regular and knife. The service was pretty poor, too. But the food tasted good. read more

No seating for large tables. Party of 8 with no hope of even trying to get a decent table set from the servers. Server had attitude. Our family has a vacation home in a nearby neighborhood. We were thrilled to see that a restaurant opened up nearby. I promised my ten year old we'd go to lunch here. My 20 year old daughter also accompanied us. My son ordered wings and said they were heaven. My daughter's chowder was good, and my Cajun shrimp tacos were fantastic.
