I will not recommend going there for breakfast during summer vacation season. We waited 15 minutes before waiter came to our table after us flagging one down. It took even longer for breakfast to arrive. After hearing several good things about this place we decided to try this restaurant for our NYE dinner with 4 friends. Had 730 reservations, seated us at 830, menus at 9pm...bread at 930, salads at 10pm and finally 5 of 6 meals at 1030 (2 of the 3 were cold and 6th meal was delivered to table at approx 1050!!! ) as we watched people leave in disgust it was clear that this restaurant needs to rethink their big event dining. However our waiter Matt was great and tried his best but when the owners have no concept of how serious a problem their bookings were, well, there is no excuse and comping some meals is not a satisfier. I think Marriott hotels should be ashamed to llist this restaurant as part of their hotel dining options in Ocean City. This type of service is unacceptable especially since we learned that this is not a new problem with busy evenings. In other words... get your act together! read more

Quite frankly the worst experience I've had in OCMD. We made reservations because we had a group on 10. The restaurant wasn't that crowded and it took awhile for the soup and then we were waiting for our appetizers which never came because the waitress forgot to put them in. Another hour went by and we still did not have our entrees. Our waitress disappeared and never came back. We asked to see the manager and he came out and looked confused as to why we were asking to speak with him. He never apologized. Our food finally came out after almost 2 hours. Our of 10 meals, 3 were ok. Our fish was severely over cooked. We had read great reviews about the crab avocado salsa - well it was terrible. It had a weird taste to it. One person in our party found a brown wrapper in her salad. Needless to say, we would never ever return and never ever refer anyone to eat here! There are SO many amazing seafood restaurants in OCMD - trust me, go somewhere other than the Captains Table. read more

Excellent restaurant. Fish is fresh and flavorful. They have sauces and ingredients that complement the fish. Great menu selection. A restaurant that does everything right. When to dinner at the Captain's Table and what a very pleasant surprise. We went on a Sunday evening and had the place to ourselves ( it did fill up later). We were greeted by a very courteous and pleasant waitress who looked after us for the rest of the meal. The appetizers were very good.. The meals were even better, they were excellent. The only caution is the meals sizes are quite large and you may be able to share. I would most definitely go back. Try it! read more

Food was excellent. Service was impeccable. Atmosphere was great. For appetizers definitely get the crab dip it was to-die-for! For dinner I chose the crab ravioli in vodka sauce special with a side of smoked salmon mashed potatoes. My mouth is literally watering writing this review and remembering how delicious the meal was. The portions were perfect sizes and I definitely left completely satisfied. Keith was our server and he was great! Extremely personable and attentive and answered any questions we had about the menu. I loved this restaurant and would definitely come back again during my next trip to Ocean City! read more

Went there Christmas Day. It was great. The piano player never stopped playing and although it was a buffet that day -- it was excellent. The food was traditional: Turkey and Beef carved for you. They had all the usual sides and all was great. Even the Caesar Salad coming from a buffet was great as were the desserts. The price was extremely reasonable. Obviously, after 5:00 PM, it got crowded. The place was quaint. I would consider going there again and certainly for a holiday dinner. read more

My husband and I are in town for our honeymoon and we decided to try to find a "fancy dinner" restaurant. We looked up a couple of places and thought the reviews for this one looked promising. When we walked in, a man was playing piano and the ambiance seemed nice. The decor is a little outdated, and the restaurant is obviously in a hotel but we were willing to look past those details. Our waitress came over and brought our drinks quickly. We ordered the crab guacamole, which was incredible! When my husband ordered a Dr Pepper, he was offered a root beer (because they didn't have Dr Pepper). He opted for a coke instead (no big deal!), the waitress came back and said they have Mr Pibb, excellent! So he agreed he would have a Mr Pibb...the waitress came back with a root beer. Still not a big deal, it was busy and it was a minor mistake. We then waited over an hour and a half for our food (chicken and steak). The chicken was fatty and was a mix of light and dark meat (for a price tag of $22) and was mediocre at best. The best part of my meal was the green beans. Seriously. My husband's $40 steak was also fatty- though his crab cake was reportedly delicious. We are generally very patient and easy to please people, however the wait time for mediocre (and expensive, yet not at all fancy) food combined with the fact that our waitress disappeared after bringing the wrong soda (she breezed past once to assure us our food would be out "in just a moment"- 30min before it was in fact brought out by one of the other restaurant staff)...was unacceptable. The waitress reappeared long enough to ask us how everything was after we'd finished eating, to which we replied "ok"- which, if she was perceptive of body language at all she would have known we were unhappy. She did not care to ask us anything further and dropped the check. I had to go wait at the bar to break cash so that I could leave exact change because we were not waiting around for another 20min for someone to notice that we were waiting to settle our bill. Save your money and go somewhere else. Last night we went to a bar/pub where we had better quality food, a view of the ocean, and it was much more budget friendly. We regret not going back there again tonight. read more

I wish that I could write about the food but we never made it that far. We were seated after we were told that they were still serving. The waitress took our order and we were brought drinks. After 20 minutes of waiting for our appetizer, we asked a waitress for rolls so that our children could eat. 15 minutes later still no appetizers. We ask a bus boy for rolls. As he goes to get the rolls the waitress appears with rolls in hand and says to us., " They take 10 minutes to heat up." She throws them on the table. We have been to this restaurant multiple times and the food was awesome. Made reservations for New Years Eve and was looking forward to another great meal. I hate to say this was my worst experience ever at a restaurant. Had reservations for 7:30 and arrived around 7:20 and was told by the hostess that we were early it would be more like 7:45, no big deal, sit at the bar and grab a drink while we wait. We sat at bar for 15 minutes before we could order our drink. I ordered a White Wine and a Crown Royal only to be told they were out of Crown Royal. There were many other's trying to get the bartender's attention as well. It was 8:20 before we were finally seated, 50 minutes after our 7:30 reservation. Once seated we just sat and waited for someone to at least great us. Another 20 mins passed before someone finally approached the table. Our waitress took our drink order and we went into another of those long waits. She finally returned with my wife Peach Martini and my drink. The Peach Martini wasn't even close to what it should have been and was sent back. Ordered a Wine instead which only took another 20 minutes. I should have done what everybody else was doing and get up from my table and go to the bar to get a drink instead of waiting so long. I have never been in a restaurant where the customers were getting up from their tables to get drinks due to the wait. We finally ordered our meal after being seating for about 40 mins. After another 45 mins i asked where our salad and soup was and that if it did not come soon we would be leaving. Finally got our cold soup and salad and then another long wait for our meal. Cold and hard baked potato's, cold steak, they even brought my baked potato on the same plate as my vegetable's so it was soggy from sitting in the juice. I would expect this if it was their first rodeo but not from a restaurant open as long as they have been. Understaffed, overbooked and unorganized. read more

My girlfriend, Dinah and I had made plans for a short trip to Ocean City to get away from the norm for a bit. We only stayed one night so we wanted to go somewhere nice for dinner. Dinah kept mentioning the Captains Table, which in all my years of attending Ocean City ( about 10 years ) I had never heard of. Being a cook myself in some fine dining kitchens I must admit since I had never heard the name I was a bit skeptical. It was an unexpected pleasant surprise to say the least. The atmosphere was nice and calm not too fancy and we both felt comfortable when we were greeted and seated. We both got soup, Dinah had the cream of crab and I had the crab chowder. Both were incredible and noticeably made from scratch. A very rich sherry flavor to hers and just enough not too much old bay spice in mine. I ordered a New York Strip topped with broiled shrimp. It was cooked perfectly and the demi sauce on the plate told me it had the time and patience rarely taken these days to make a good sauce. Dinah ordered a Lobster tail broiled in white wine and butter. Again the tail not overcooked and bursting with sweet, salty, savory flavor. I had green beans and mash for sides and she ordered a sweet potato. The whole meal from start to finish was impeccable, it truly made our one evening getaway that much better. I have recommended this place to many friends since my return and absolutely advise any O.C. vacationers to do the same. read more

Eight of us went on a Saturday (8/27/16). Reservations were made for 5:30 and we were seated promptly when we arrived. They have a nice table towards the back which although still in the dining room it is like a private room. The table could probably seat 10 comfortably. The early bird specials are available until 6:00. The crab dip appetizer was served hot with water crackers and hard crust bread. Delicious. All early bird specials were delicious which included salmon, rib eye, and fried panko shrimp. Salad served with entrée was generous and fresh. Other sides included broccoli, sweet and white potato. Matt the server did an excellent job. Overall the dinner was excellent. The room was a little warmer than most restaurants. Piano and "soft" play drums was a nice touch. I would recommend this restaurant for a special night out. There was a long line waiting to be seated as we left at 7:15. read more

Our family searched for good seafood restaurants in Ocean City and Captains Table came up w/ 4.5 stars...so we decided to give it a shot. We walked in and the ambiance was classy and relaxing. We were seated almost immediately. The menu had many suggestions from the chef (which ALL sounded great). Our table went w/ the cream of crab, the flounder stuffed w/ crab, blackened salmon w/ crusted crab cake, and pan-seared chicken w/ broiled crab cake. We anxiously waited for our food....for 1 hour!!!!!!!!!! Clearly there weren't enough servers, because our server alone serviced tables all over the restaurant. Also there didn't seem to be many chefs in the kitchen because of the wait time. Needless to say we grew impatient and were threatening (amongst ourselves) to walk out if our food wasn't served HOT and as delicious as described. Finally our food was served, and OMG!!!! The food was ALL THAT AND MORE!!!! The food was hot, deliciously seasoned, fish was moist and chicken was crispy. It was TOTALLY worth the wait. Our table agreed that this was the best meal we've had at a restaurant. We totally recommend this restaurant by the sea. Would've given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the wait. read more

We've been coming to OCMD since the kids were little (25yrs) and vowed to try all new places to eat this time. We tried this one from a personal referral from a friend at work. When 4 adults and 2 kids (us) entered a practically empty joint, we were asked if we had a reservation, when we replied no, the look we got was unmistakable. She must have really searched but we were seated immediately and were seated at a booth. The waitress was very friendly at the greeting and we ordered quickly. The drinks and salad were unremarkable and the bread took forever, try explaining that to a hungry 18 month old. The bread was most excellent so when we asked for more pleased, we felt like Oliver Twist when the reply was "it's made to order" basically telling us we were greedy slobs. When the dinners FINALLY came, the 5 yr olds grilled cheese was toasted bread with unmelted cheese on it. Everyone concurred the fried shrimp or lump crab dish themselves were excellent but the auxiliary items, baked potatoes, green beans etc were mediocre at best. Long cook time, mediocre service to include the hostess, no managers present (which may explain some of these mistakes), pricey, not worth the money. Best things, bread and the piano player! read more
