We were in the area for Tour de Foothills and found this restaurant on Yelp. We were not disappointed. I had the pesto linguine with shrimp and really enjoyed it. My boyfriend tasted it and felt it needed a little more garlic and salt but I found it just right. Very good! Boyfriend had spaghetti marinara with meatballs and really enjoyed it. The bread/rolls and salads were also really good. I enjoyed the dim lights and ambiance of the dining room and was glad we sat there as opposed to the lounge area where we could hear some off-key live singing carrying over slightly into our part of the restaurant. The food was great, I had the Scampi Bianca ( one of their daily specials) and my husband had the Cimpinno. We were both very happy with our dishes. Their cocktail menu has a wide variety and is well balanced. My husband ordered a beer, while he was happy with his 805, he would have preferred an IPA, sadly they didn't have any on the menu. It was new years day for a party of 3, we had a last minute reservation , at around 7pm. A gentlemen took our drinks order, and we waited 25 minutes , until I politely asked ( aware that it's new years) whats going on? The turn around in service was a complete 180°. First round of drinks were on the house. CAROLINA, was very attentive, personal, and just perfect. Her, the manager, and even the owner, were very attentive. I am happy this restaurant is open again. They were adversely hit by COVID shortly after rebranding / opening last year. We sat in the bar with high expectations about a fun evening with friends we rarely get to dine with as well as listing to 'live' music. Honestly a part of the music was live but the musician played with enhanced music recorded that was too loud for the size of the room. We started with 2 vodka martinis (delicious) and a vodka and tonic while my honey enjoyed a glass of wine from a special bottle we brought. (Our friends had one for enjoyment during the meal) After listening to the specials 2 of us ordered the risotto with shrimp and scallops (mind you the server told us it was shrimp and clams) and lasagna and tortellini's. My honey wanted a small salad and due to the level of music communication was broken and a cara mia salad was suggested by the server which he agreed too. The salad wasn't a small side salad but was very enjoyable. Previously before the pandemic a small accompanied the special but I guess that has been nixed. The meals were presented beautifully and each meal was tasty particularly the risotto. After dinner we ordered 3 chocolate martinis. They too were very tasty. So if you're counting that was a total of 5 martinis, one cocktail and 2 bottles to cork. The bar bill was $92 bucks and $30 bucks corking! Ridiculous! Our risotto was more than a steak on the menu! I understand the need to perhaps makeup for some loss during the partial closure (if they had actually closed) but this diner feels the bar prices were excessive and of course they aren't posted in the menu allowing a more informed diner. read more

This was my first time dining at Cara Mia, once we walked in were immediately greeted and seated. The soft warm bread with that creamy perfect butter was everything! I had to ask for seconds! Once our entrees arrived boy did they look amazing! We ordered the Baked Ravioli & the Tortellini Genovese both were just absolute heaven! I almost had a ratatouille moment! Specifically when I tried the Tortellini Genovese OH MY GOODNESS! If you don't know what to order or can't decide trust me and go with this dish you will not regret it! Overall the ambiance was good. We have ordered three times for delivery and the food has always arrived warm. Today we ordered the chicken cara mia and the cheese tortellini with chicken. They were all tasty and large portions! The chicken cara mia comes with a juicy nice size chicken breast with a mushroom Gorgonzola cream sauce with the perfect ratio of potatoes, broccoli, and carrots ! My all time favorite! Our waitress was Veronica, she was a wonderful help, and absolutely no complaint about her. The complimentary bread was delicious, crispy yet soft inside and warm. Now I'm giving 5 stars because of the service and food. However there is a problem. I do intend to go back although if the live entertainment that they have is still the same, I'll be sitting at the regular seating not the bar area. The live entertainment was definitely a choice. My nephew could sing a million times better and without a mic. (He's an opera singer.) Shoot!! Give me a few shots and id sing better. But im sorry the young ladies they had on 9/10/22 need a much better mic or PA system. I can't even tell you if they sang great because it sounded muffled. I've been dying to find a great italian place that was a step up from the mom and pops we have around town! I came across Cara Mias in a Facebook post and I have been really wanting to go! Last night was the night and let me just say it did not disappoint! Social distancing was in play and the staff was excellent! I felt safe and my belly was full! Portions are huge, which is excellent. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs, baked ziti (amazing!) and an Italian mule! The only suggestion I would have is that they need to make a kids menu. I know kids aren't really in their clientele but it would still be nice to have some kid size items for the littles! (Or maybe offer half portions of their menu for kids 12 and under) read more

The food wasn't packaged well and the way it looked when I pulled the food from the bag decreased my appetite. Really didn't want to eat what was delivered. My wife and I drive a truck for a living, and when home, we try to support small businesses during these difficult times. This evening, we chose Cara Mia, and were pleasantly surprised! My wife was in the mood for lasagna, so we ordered that, along with the filet mignon, baked raviolis and the Cara Mia salad. For dessert we got the chocolate cake and the amazing panna cotta! Been somewhat of a regular for the last 22 years. Back when this place was Chianti's I took my wife (girlfriend at the time) here for her birthday. That was 9/10/01. Bottom line first: Friendly but spotty service, good but pricy specials We drove an hour just to have dinner here outside. Although there were some seats inside, there were only 2 tables and were occupied. It was a nice summertime evening outside, and the tables were appropriately distanced, so we were fine there. The initial service was almost too fast, with the salad coming out right with the bread. We went with two of the three specials for the day, per Veronica's recommendation. The lobster ravioli was a winner, tasty and devoured by both of us. The capellini secco special, which was shrimp and scallops along with mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes over angel hair, was a distant second. Although the shrimp was flavored well, the rest of the dish was unfortunately a bit bland. The saving grace is that the portion was pretty good, and we had enough leftover for another small meal. We went with Veronica'a recommendation of panna cotta for dessert. It was good. The service became a bit spotty during the meal, as we were checked in only once. When done 2 minutes after the entrees were brought out, we couldn't really provide significant feedback for the dishes until we were done. Veronica did verify that the shrimp was prepared separately from the rest of the capellini special. There was a small surprise when the bill came. The specials ended up being $30 and $35 for the ravioli and capellini, respectively. Although the prices were not outrageous, and the servers not obligated to tell us the prices unless we asked, it is nevertheless unexpected when the rest of the entrees ranged mostly from $15-20. Given the inconsistency of the food and the service, I am leaning towards trying other places before coming back here. If I do, I will hope for a better experience. read more
