We stood around for about a minute confused and then a waitress came out from the back and sat us. She was a delight and really attentive. We got the hamachi crudo and the truffle tagliatelle pasta as our starters because we brought a mahjong set to play. They were both BOMB. My brother ordered the smoked chicken and I the burger. Both were good - but SO much more mediocre than the two starters. It was like we had two different meals in one night. I'd come again to try their other mains and give it another shot. Came here for an anniversary dinner. Went in and took a while to get our order taken, but food came rather quickly. Lemon Pasta - Very much straight lemon juice and oil. Needed more Parmesan throughout, cream/butter and spices-- very one note and got cold fast. Chicken - had a strong charred taste on the outside which was nice, but pretty bland and one note besides. Truffle Fries - up charge of $10 to change from mashed potatoes (though if bought separately they're only $4 more...) - very weak truffle and Parmesan flavor, pretty much none at all. Basically plain fries. Ambience was nice but for the price it was absolutely not worth it. Even if the prices were 50% of what they were, the food was just so flavorless and one note we wouldn't come back for it. Portions are also small-- think it's the most I've spent for the least amount of good food -- ever. I have to give tremendous props to Cara Restaurant for outstanding service. Especially to Megan, our incredible server. We were a large party, over 10 people, and the kitchen closes at 2:30. We definitely went past 2:30, yet the staff was incredibly gracious. Megan was so hospitable, friendly, helpful, and so respectful the whole time, even though I'm pretty sure we were supposed to be out a long time before we actually left. We were never made to feel like an inconvenience (although I'm fairly certain we were inconveniencing the staff, so sorry!) and the chef was only one person cooking everybody's food past kitchen closing time...talk about exceptional. I felt so bad that that was the case, but I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the chef and to the staff, especially Megan, for being so gracious and wonderful. I got the American Breakfast and the banana bread and the California sunrise smoothie. The smoothie was pretty strong on the banana flavor so if you like banana, go for that. I had an amazing brunch here with my father and my dog poolside and everything was spectacular from the service being very personable and conscientious to the food being absolutely delicious this old-fashioned Hollywood ambience is rare and very much appreciated. It's a little pricey however, every drop of food was so delicious. You won't hear a single complaint from me. I highly recommend this hidden treasure of a restaurant inside of this glamorous hotel. Very convenient valet right in front but if you feel like saving five dollars just park at Ralphs but since sincerely your car will be safe safer with the valet. We were welcomed and seated right away. To be honest in the pictures, I thought it is a bigger space, but it's a very small and cozy looking backyard The food quality is not the best. They're very few options. We ordered regular fries and a salad for starter and to be honest we didn't like it that much. Also, the waiter served wrong fries and he had to go back and change it. For food, The ordered clams and a pasta. It was not bad, but not the best for the price. Also, the portions are very small For the dessert, I was so excited to try to churros, but to be honest, I can say it was one of the worst churros I ever had very dry and super sweet . Miami vibes in Los Angeles! I came here for my birthday, and thought it was the perfect setting for cocktails and delicious food. The bar by the lobby was a great space to enjoy drinks while waiting for guests to arrive. My group of six was seated by the pool with our own heat lamp. Charging $24 for a very small portion of pasta alone is absurd. Asking for $15 to add a 4-5 count of charbroiled shrimp (which I did) is just crazy. It would be much more worth it if they at least included more noodles and/or shrimp. Like, at least include a side of garlic bread or rolls or something. Additionally, we order ceviche (there were four in our party) and our waitress assured us that it was a shareable size, but it was barely ample enough for one person as an appetizer in my opinion. Will I come back again? Yes, because the pasta and cocktails were that good. Maybe just plan to leave hungry or be ready to eat again a few hours later. Lol?? Valet parking only I heard about this restaurant because of an influencer I follow, Naz Kavari. My friend went a week prior to us going together, and she enjoyed it very much. Cara was such an exceptional dining experience! This is a cute date spot or a also a good vibe to come chill with friends. We made reservations ahead of time and we were able to get a seat outside in the beautiful patio area. Our server was attentive and very open about his recommendations. Great gem in Hollywood. I live nearby and drove by this former meh motel and saw a valet stand and nice signage. My husband and I had dinner there a few years ago. It is a lovely setting, and the food was great but not memorable . The setting was lovely. I recently took an older lady friend there for lunch - it was perfect at lunchtime - valet parking made my life easier since my friend could not walk far. Lunchtime offerings were nice and the crowd was fun to watch. Food was great - she had a burger and fries and ate everything and I had a small salad (not on menu but they made it for me) and the prosciutto and burrata. Also wonderful. I booked this place to go to for a small birthday brunch and the staff was very accommodating, even when I had to push back the reserved time. Forewarning that since it is outdoors, it would be advised to pick a date to go when it isn't super sunny out. Regarding the food, I thought that for the price, it was a bit average. It was good, but I would have expected it to be better than my expectations. Just got home from Cara. It's beautiful but the reason for 3 stars. you start with 5 stars but : it's almost 90 degrees out and there are only a few fans. We were boiling hot until I begged the bus boy to turn one of the fans around because I was about ready to leave. Thank God, he turned the fan around and we were able to sit and enjoy because I was just burning as we were all not to mention not enough umbrellas it's like a greenhouse effect in there it is hot! bars and restaurants have heaters for when it's cold. What about making it cooler in there. It takes away from the lovely atmosphere. That's the first minus one star the reason I took another star away as the food looked prettier and sounded prettier than it actually was. The steak was soooooo fatty. (I got the steak and eggs and substituted the potatoes for a salad....I was hungry so I ate it. The steak was soooooo fatty fatty and soooo oily. Lacked much flavor besides that. The salad was some greens on the plate with maybe a hint of dressing. The eggs were basic over easy. Hard to screw up except they overcooked one not that I minded but again- the food was just so very mediocre. The drink I got was ok. A mock tail that tasted like a piña colada, but it was so ridiculously sweet. I didn't wanna finish it but of course I did. I was hungry and sitting with a few people and I'm not gonna send it back and get something else. So overall, it was really more like a 2 1/2 star. The only reason I give it three stars is because the atmosphere was great, but I don't think I'd ever return unless the food was better and it was more comfortable to sit outside -kind of a shame. I was excited to visit for a holiday lunch with my office colleagues. Unfortunately, the lack of decent tableside service influenced my overall rating. First, the waitress/busser was too distracted to ever clear our table. We had to ask her to remove dishes on multiple occasions. The waitress may have been overwhelmed because we had to wave her down to get anything we needed. For example, we requested a new fork, straws, drink orders, a new bottle of wine, etc. For the upscale dollar price, service should be a main priority. Additionally, the bartender was extremely slow. Waiting over 20 minutes for a cocktail was absurd. We decided to order a cocktail as soon as one arrived due to the huge delay. We made it work, lol. Nonetheless, the food was delicious. We were a party of 7 and ordered (almost) everything on the menu. Some top hits were the ribeye, ceviche, prosciutto & buratta, lemon pasta, black truffle pappardelle, hamachi crudo and broccolini. Unfortunately, the shrimp was flavorless and chewy/overcooked. Every other item was great. The desert menu was well rounded. We tasted every item and I'd recommend the chocolate chip cookie, brownie and sorbet. The churros and apple pie are underwhelming. Cara is located on a busy street with only meter or valet parking ($15). We opted for valet, they accept cash or card. We called to let the restaurant know and the receptionist was very kind and accommodating. We informed them we were running behind and they accomodated our request to rush our order. The pappardelle truffle pasta was unlike anything I have every had texturally; the best al-dente pasta with a creamy truffle sauce that was bowl licking good!
