Thought I had found a reliable place, but not after Dinan nonchalantly canceled my appointment with one days notice, and a week after it was made. No explanation, just a voice mail. On an earlier occasion, I made an on-line appointment from the web site and was told the next day (after I called) that I couldn't have the slot I reserved. For some people, it involves time from work, and soliciting transportation for something as simple as an oil change. Disgruntled....yeah, a little. I'm bummed I was treated so poorly. I took my 07 328i to get its first post maintance warranty service to Dinan and they really took care of me. They explained what services ill be needing in the fututre( cause i had no idea what i needed) they even had a special going on where first time costumers get a free oil change, so i just paid for the micro filters. Same great service as BMW dealerships at a lower cost. read more

This morning an warning indicator turned red so I made a call and was told that they could look into it immediately. On arrival, a very professional staff explained that this was simple a standard vehicle check that is recommended and not a failure. The service would cost $140. A couple hours later I received a call from Jeff who is very knowledgeable and totally empathetic. Seems that there is an coolant leak beneath the manifold that would cost $2700 to repair. There were other issue but they were not significant and could be put off. I explained to Jeff that this vehicle has been costing me significant dollars over the past year and that I did not feel it prudent to continue to dump additional monies into it. Jeff understood, spoke on annual maint costs for this age and type of vehicle, life expectancy, and weighed the pros and cons of trading it in for newer vehicle. I felt like there was an definite value add to their service. I made a couple of calls on the specific problem with my vehicle. The dealer estimated $7500 to remedy. A small shop also in Campbell quoted $3900. Dinan was most competitive. Ultimately, I decided that it is time to part ways with this cars. As you read this, bear in mind that each day that they had my car, I had to call them an average of 3 times. Each time I was told that "Scott would call me back in 5 minutes". He never did. Not even once. On average he would answer on the third call. I took my 328i there back in June of 2014. Shortly there after, the splash guard under the hood came loose and was scraping along 101 South. I took it back in and asked them to replace the guard which was now ruined and to diagnose a rough idle. They replaced some solenoids and charged me $600. I could tell it was still idling rough before I even got home. I took it back and after a couple of more days they still had not resolved the issue so I got it back with the rough idle. 3 weeks ago I hit a pot hole which triggered the flat tire sensor. I took it to them and they told me that they couldn't fix it until I got new tires. I got the tires and took it back at the beginning of this week, mentioning that it was still idling rough. They did nothing on Monday or half of Tuesday even though I had an appt. On my lucky 3rd call Tuesday afternoon, Scott informed me that my car needed an $1100 part. IE. the tires had nothing to do with it. On lucky call 3 on Wednesday Scott informed me that they were having a tough time finding the part, but would have one in the morning. At 8:45 this morning I told Scott that I would be by at 3:30 to pick up the car. "No problem, it's only an hour long job." When I arrived at 3:30 I was told they needed another half hour. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

The last time I took my car to Stevens Creek BMW, I noticed the whiteboard in the manager's office that tracked each service advisor based on billable work hours. That's how their service advisors are ranked and rewarded. When I saw that, I decided I needed a change. I asked around at work and a colleague I trust suggested Dinan. I had thought they were only a BMW tweak shop, but I was wrong. After taking my 3-series here now for the last couple of years, I can't have been happier. Took both my 740i and X3 to Dinan several times. Each time they fixed the problem I was experiencing but then I would mysteriously have a new problem. 740 came in for tires and when I picked it up the trunk was broken. It worked when I took my golf clubs out of the trunk minutes before I brought it to them. Took it in a second time for a tune-up and the power steering, which worked when I drove it to them, barely worked when I left. Went to a new BMW mechanic and no longer experience these mysterious problems. read more

No charge! Brought my 528 in during the Holidays as I had been bothered by the gear noise from turning sharp right. Within 30 seconds after opening up the hood I was told my power steering fluid was practically gone. A free gulp came within 1 minute and my car was fixed. Woohoo indeed! No problems with Dinan of Campbell. Thorough, professional. Nothing out of the ordinary, however. Overall, I was pleased with their service (though I did not receive a call to advise my car was ready - I simply showed up at the discussed time). These guys snuck in about $400 worth of repairs. When their customer service called me I told them, they proceeded to try to sell me more repairs and didn't even address my concerns. I used to go to A&E (which was bought out by Dinan) they were great, these guys are not. I don't reccomend these guys. read more

Great Service. Took my car in for numerous problems. The guys at Dinan Campbell were great! Expectations, communication, consultative help and even a ride after dropping off my car. I have taken my 98 M3 (147K miles, on tail end of original clutch) to Dinan MV since about 2000 or 2001, and have always had terrific service. Matt Overman, the service manager there, is incredible. I recently had a battery (replacement, not BMW) go bad shortly after a service - even though this was in no way Dinan's fault, he replaced the battery and replaced the corroded terminal gratis. Dinan is the only place I would take my bimmer. read more

My mother in law's 2006 325i battery died in front of our house. I called the dealer and they wanted way too much money for the battery and to register it. Plus, the next appointment was two days out. I called Dinan in Campbell for a quote, which was much less. They were able to get the car in that day and installed and registered an OEM battery. They were very accommodating and friendly. I'll defiantly go back to them. read more

Scott Bomer, the new manager for Dinan, called me after reading my yelp review. I initially had no interest in dealing with Dinan again. Scott was persistent and persuasive. I agreed after he committed to quickly dealing with the problem while I waited and that he would personally deal with me. I was in an out in 20 minutes. They quickly identified the problem and fixed it and even replaced the windshield wipers. Scott offered the service at no charge but we settled on cost. I may again try Dinan for my next service and deal directly with Scott. I do believe that he was sincere in wanting a happy and satisfied customer. read more

I was referred to Dinan Engeneering by someone that did not know that they had recently changed ownership. I was told that my BMW computor indicated I Possibly had transmission problems and that a change of transmission fluid could possibly, no guarantee, solve the problem for a mere $600.00 This didn't work. I was then told that I needed a new transmission; $6000.00 After shopping around I was told by BTM motors in Campbell that the computor actually indicated that the problem was with the Torque Converter and would cost $1500.00 to repair. (I checked with Dinan who said that would not solve the problem, but that they would charge $2300.00 for a new Torque Converter installation) BTM did the job for$1500 as quoted and successfully solved the problem. (Bye the way, they would have only charged me $400.00 for a change in Transmission fluid, as oppossed to the $600.00 I was charged by Dinan. My new mechanic is BTM, and I understand that many other former Dinan customers have made the same choice since the change in ownership at Dinan. read more

I had a slow leak on my e28 M5. Unfortunately, a hairline crack in the oil pan was the culprit. They were able to get a new OEM oil pan in 24 hours and I haven't had a drip for 6 weeks and counting. read more
