I've been coming here for years and the food is still reliable and tasty. The plain slice here is my favorite in Yonkers and their specialty pizzas are also pretty good. The sit down restaurant is is pretty solid and the portions are definitely bang for your buck, but service has been hit or miss over the years...luck of the draw based on who your server is. I have been here only a handful of times. Each and every time the food has been outstanding. I took my husband here for dinner and again did not disappoint. My husband was also impressed. The baked clams were absolutely delicious and we're made the same way my mother makes them. I am of Italian descent and my family cooks amazing. This place is just like being home. Going into Carlos's is the best. However last month we called for delivery. Delivery is awful. They told us it would take an hour. Well an hour and a half later still no pizza. I called the first time hung up on, when I called back the person was not the most pleasant and said that the pizza was on its way. Had no idea how long it would be until they got here. They arrived 1 hour and 50 minutes after the initial phone call by and the pizza was cold as cold could be. Lost two stars one for the extra 50 minutes and one for it being so cold. This restaurant is a dump. The meatballs tasted like cat food. Cheese tortellini tasted freezer burned with no taste. Salads never came. Thank god for the cold bread and frozen butter. Are here lunch on way to Mt Kisco, it is very confusing entrance, small but cozy. We ordered Pees soup, grilled Mushroom as apt, then one CK something... and Salmon with Broccoli. The Soup and the mushroom is very good CK and Salmon we did not eat since are already full with the apt and soup so we took home. When we reached home I did not realize the food is still in car but next morning I did not want to eat it so I just discarded. But I must say I was so impressed with their safety measures that they implemented now during COVID. The baked clams come 6 to a plate. It was good. The calamari was outstanding. For my entree I ordered the shrimp scampi. I have to say it was by far the best I've ever eaten. The sauce was delicious and the shrimp portions were impressive. For dessert, I ordered a tartufo (sp?). It was ok. I also tried the Italian cheesecake. It reminded me of a tres leches cake. The bathroom is quite small, but kudos for having a baby changing station! Service was ok, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. I think the waiter was getting annoyed that our party arrived at varied times. Overall, I'm impressed with the food. It was delicious and the portions are very generous. The delivery service has improved! My husband and I considers Carlos as the place we love to hate. The food is excellent but delivery used to take forever. Tonight we ordered chicken parm and the website said it would be 60-90 minutes.. they were here in 30! The past few deliveries have arrived earlier than expected too. I've had a few of their chicken dishes- Marsala, parm & francese and it has always been delicious. Not a huge fan of their pasta side.. we always get croquettes or linguine with oil and garlic. Let me start by saying that Carlo's pizza is fantastic. Manhattan and Bronx, born and bred, so pizza is a staple. Well baked and great tasting sauce, some important elements in a great pizza. With that said, I've tried to spaghettini and meatballs, chicken parm, zucchini sticks, croquettes, calamari and a variety of salads. They weren't bad. Spaghetti well cooked however the sauce was tart and Meatballs were dense and dry. Chicken parm was OK, but chicken was over cooked a bit. The plate was not a big deal. Calamari was fresh and batter was crunchy with a nice flake to it. Well done on this one. Zucchini sticks were the least spectacular. Not way into these but the zucchini was gooey and tasted of used cooking oil. A big let down. They should have a nice snap to them. Texture nightmare. Croquettes have a cheese potato filling that was nice. Outside crunch was good as well. Lots of filling as I like them a bit thinner HOWEVER they were a hit with guests. Again, great job. So why two stars and not three? I've ordered several times over about a year with everyone in the area raving about this place. Many times, I've been entertaining guests and was depending on solid taste and texture. I will look to another local spot when I'm in the mood for pizzeria style Italian dinners. Since my first review, I have given Carlo's several other chances and I must say.... they have MORE THAN redeemed themselves. They are now my family's go-to Italian place. The food is delicious and they are fast, accurate and the customer service has improved a thousandfold. Every single time we have ordered from there since, it has been PERFECT! When you go to Carlos in Yonkers you MUST order the Chicken Scarp. They do it the right way, the chicken is moist & tender, if you can handle the heat those cherry peppers will make you cry, otherwise stick with the vinegar peppers, and always add sausage for a dollar more because it's the right thing to do...just trust me on this one. Oh and get a side of the potato croquettes because they are warm, fluffy and beautiful. I've tried their blackened chicken and it was superb. When you go to a place like Carlos, you know what you're getting. It's not a place that will blow you away but if you decide on the right meal choices you will walk away more than satisfied. Awful evening with friends and our 3 children began when we showed up for our 6:15 reservation and stood in the doorway for a half hour getting constantly bumped in to while we waited. After being seated at 6:45 we waited and waited and waited. We got a couple appetizers which came at a reasonable pace , but waited over an hour for our meals to arrive, and the best of all of our meals were lukewarm. Perhaps a 1 star rating (which is being generous) on Yelp will finally get the attention of the best person at Carlos to address the fact that their service & food have seriously declined in the last 2 years. My fiancé & I have complained several times, specifically regarding the downstairs pizzeria, to Management about the service (or lack of). I understand the reasoning behind employing a younger crowd down there, however, they are not remotely trained in customer service and the worst representation of your restaurant. I booked my engagement party with Carlos back in January / February 2019 with the hope that you could do a great job and impress our families. A few weeks later and several completely incorrect food orders / managers that could care less -- we decided to take our deposit back and go elsewhere. Fast forward to the Spring and we decided to give it a go again on a weekend and ordered take out. We called our order in and were told to come in 20-30 minutes - upon arrival, IN THAT TIMEFRAME, my brother in law stood there for an additional 30-40 minutes only to leave and come home with several wrong items. We called and spoke to a "Manager" who asked us "what was she supposed to do?" On another night we ordered take out, stressing that we wanted - a piece of salmon PLAIN. We picked the food up and went home with salmon in some soupy concoction. We called immediately and were told to come back to the restaurant with the fish to get a new meal. No offer to amend the situation / deliver a new meal despite it being the restaurants complete lack of attention to the note on the ticket. Tonight was the very last incident-- my family ordered and received a burnt chicken parmigiana with HAIR. We will not be bothering to call you because in the past you have made it very clear that you could care less. Your employees have two jobs - to prepare good food and to provide good service to paying customers. We have repeatedly tried to find a reason to continue giving business to this establishment as at one time they provided some of the best Italian food in the area but going forward you have lost our business as well as our family & friends. To prospective customers, don't waste your time and avoid unnecessary aggravation - lots of other fantastic local Italian restaurants who will appreciate your business that can consistently deliver great service and even better food. read more

Went here on a double date and had the privilege of being able to grab a table right away since the couple we were with got there beforehand. The wait would of been long otherwise. Appearance wise they are lacking and the food mirrors that. If I said the calamari wasn't good I'd be lying, it did have a weird after taste that I can't put my finger on. The chicken franchese was very bland, would of benefited from a little salt, pepper and lemon. I got the seafood risotto which was difficult to eat because of the way they arranged the seafood. The taste was pretty standard. The other couple ordered gnocchi with marinara sauce and a chicken dish with prosciutto, mozzarella, and mushrooms. The gnocchi was over cooked and the sauce was bland. The chicken dish was probably the best out of all of our entrees. That couldn't save this train wreck of a dinner. They should really taste their food before sending it out.
