This is my family staple restaurant when we go out for dinner. We have been going for as long as I can remember. The food is great with good prices and they accomadate me and my brother sister very well with our orders since we are vegetarians. The portions are big and never disappoints. I was thinking what to get to eat this time around, when I noticed a gentleman at a table next to me munching on a huge Fred Flintstone meatball and that made up my mind for me. This is the best Italian restaurant. It surpasses Frankie and Johnnys the Pines by far. This quaint restaurant makes the best marsala, francese, braciole, spinach raviolo, sesame crusted tuna, Mozzerella sticks, Italian wedding soup and so many things and everything is excellant. Pete Sr is in his 80s and still works there . To know him is to love him. The dessert try their chocolate cake, creme puffs or Pete jr special homemade ricotta chesse cake. I have to have at least a weekly carlo fix. Their pizza is excellant too!!! Chicken Rolls superb!! I love every thing there. Alot of people go their for the scarparello over roasted potatoes. I used to live down the street from Carlo's and went there all the time. Cons: tables are so close together that you may land up sitting with strangers, you can't make reservations for small parties and there's always a long wait, the service is horrendous, unless you get Stephanie as your waitress. Pros: the food is so outstanding, it really outweighs most of the cons. I have never had a bad meal there. Try the gnocchi bolognese. Also, they always having amazing specials. read more

I grew up going to Carlo's once, sometimes twice a week in the 70s and early 80s. My parents, brother, aunt, uncle, cousins and I considered it our home away from home. Carlo always had a smile and made us feel like family. The food was always delicious. It's been quite sometime since I had been there. My husband son and I went there yesterday. Carlo would not be happy with our waitress or the food served. There was only one couple there when we arrived. We were greeted as we entered and seated right away. About 10 minutes later a large party arrived and was seated directly behind us. The tables were marked reserved. With an empty restaurant I do not understand why the waitress put us at a table that was so close to a reserved party, We originally went for pizza but there was no pizza on the menu so we decided we would get pasta meals. I had the chicken Parmesan, it was the worst chicken Parmesan I have ever had from A restaurant. The sauce was bland, the breading had no seasoning, I had pasta on the side and several strings of spaghetti were stuck together also it came to the table cold. The chicken Parmesan tasted exactly like those cheap round chicken Parmesans that come from OnCor In the frozen food section in the grocery market. On the plus side though they are quite generous with the mozzarella and it tasted fresh. On the way home we all agreed that this was not a place we wanted to go to again. read more

The food is delicious the Fried Calamari , the mozzarella en carozza (with anchovy sauce - to die for), the Chicken Rollentine, the Rack of Lamb on a seasoned plate, the linguini and clams sauce....the list goes on and on. If this place were to close, I do not know what I would do. Really, it's that serious. They will make almost any italian dish that is not on the menu at your request. Family style restaurant. This restaurant is crowded on any given day; the line is usually out the door especially on Thursday's and Friday's after 5pm. Decent service. I'm not saying this is a 5 star restaurant, as in the most incredible restaurant in the world, nor am I saying that it's cthe best Italian restaurant. This is not a Michelin rating or anything like that. What I'm saying is, for what this place is, and for what this place does, it's damn good. Packed in a Sunday evening, service was a little slow but that was fine. Appetizers: The mussels were some of the most tender I've ever had. The calamari was perfectly cooked. The clams oreganata we're good, the sauce- excellent. I definitely recommend the spiedini, like an Italian monte cristo with anchovy and caper sauce- wow. Entrees: Tortellini Carbonara was delicious and surprisingly light. Chicken Cutlet Valdostano was incredible- covered in prosciutto, mozzarella, Marsala and mushrooms. Chicken Scarpariello was perfect as was the Chicken Rollatine. You would think with the amount of chicken dishes being cranked out of the kitchen that ONE of them would be tough, but no. Impressive. Again, the reason this is getting a 5 star rating is because everything was executed flawlessly. We were not eating the most expensive, hard to find fare. I've been to Carlo's many times, but it wasn't until this past Valentine's Day that I realized what a gem this place is! The place doesn't look great; the decor is a bit dated and the outside isn't completely inviting, BUT completely ignore these points and keep reading. I attended last night and the experience actually began on a semi-negative note in that my boyfriend and I sat upstairs for 15 minutes without being looked at by a waiter and the waiter immediately went over to another older couple who had taken a seat at the table directly next to us. Moreover, she was eating which wouldn't even bother me save for the fact that if she was so busy she couldn't get to our table then how did she have time to eat while on the floor. I went downstairs and spoke with a gentleman who seemed to be the owner or a manager and immediately the experience turned around. He was very accommodating and just kindly apologized for the confusion. The service was fine the rest of the night; we had a laugh here or there with our server. In fact, usually, I end up sitting with female servers who I believe are family of the house and their service has always been exceptional. Now onto the important part of this review -- THE FOOD IS OUTSTANDING, INCREDIBLE, REMARKABLE, AND TRULY DELICIOUS. I can't even think about going there without craving the potatoes, peppers, and onions side dish; it is food heaven. They don't have fried calamari on the menu, but if you ask nicely they usually can make an order and OH MY, IS IT WORTH ASKING FOR. Every piece is cooked to perfection and marinara is just to die for -- nearly drinkable. I always get chicken parm and baked ziti. Some people think those are easy dishes and that's true, yet countless Italian places locally don't make them right. The ziti is loaded with cheese like I love and the chicken parm is pounded paper thin, served extra crispy, and in no way skimp on the portions. My boyfriend has gotten linguini with clams, chicken rollatini, and other things - he always loves it. We also love their speciality tartufo! I love Carlo's but I've always eaten entrees here. The other day I was going to mail something at the post office and although I've visited the restaurant many times I decided to get a pizza for take out. I got a Grandma pizza. I'm waiting and I'm waiting. Someone after me orders a Brooklyn they leave before me I assume they ordered over the phone prior. No problem. I'm waiting and I'm waiting more. Finally I'm given my pizza and off I go. I get home and the pizza is grossly over cooked. I'm not sure I'll ever eat pizza there again. I was so disappointed. Could only eat the very center of a slice and it was pretty hard. Most of the pizza was hard as a crunchy pretzel and had a burnt taste. So disappointed! I dunno why I'm giving them a 3. We have eaten there also with My Mother, Sister, Two Brothers, Sister-in-law, also our Niece and Nephews like I said before food AMAZING also bread AMAZING! For my 50th Birthday we also ate upstairs at Carlo's food AMAZING! For my nieces Confirmation we also ate at Carlo's food AMAZING! My Husband ate at Carlo's on Friday August 7, 2020. We both had an appetizer of clams AMAZING! My Husband ate the Lobster Ravioli which he LOVES Amazing! I ate the Pasta Picasso It was so good there was so much of it that I had to have it wrapped up to take home AMAZING! We always LOVE the Bread there AMAZING! We also took home dessert My Husband ordered the Homemade Tiramisu and I ordered the Limoncello Raspberry Cake so good AMAZING! The Staff of Carlo's was all very nice, Hard Workers, Attentive, Our waitress offered suggestions, was very nice, also very hard working she deserved the tip that she got for the night. I also thought that it was a very good idea that when we first sat down they gave us a bag to put our masks in there also was partitions at different tables which Is also a very good idea in these times of the Pandemic Craziness. Very nice dinner! I recommend eating upstairs on a busy night as it may be too loud in the main dining room to enjoy. The entrees are very good and the portions are big. This experience has always been a good one! But this time my issue is with how they seat there guests. I arrived early for my reservation and was greeted by a female staff member who insisted to seat me and my guest in a area which is a path for staff to service there dining area.I asked to be seated upstairs which was totally ignored. In addition a table which was suitable was finally offered after some arm twisting with staff. I travel often in area and enjoy there fine cuisine when in town. After trying this dish one time, I am not only hooked but dream about the next time that I can have it. The shrimp is huge, cooked perfectly, and folded into al-dente pasta with the most succulent lemon-butter-oil sauce. Mmmmm! I'm getting teary just thinking about it! This place gets 4 stars just for that dish but the other highlights include: warm bread served before each meal and their walnut, cranberry salad. Perfect accompaniments! The service is always fast and friendly and the only reason why I did not go "all the way" with the stars is due to the restaurant layout; it's a bit awkward, as well as its location. The service here is alright, some days its busier than others and when it's busy the service can be slow. However, the entrees and pizza are good. They also have a really good take out system if you are ever in the area. They make an excellent thin crust pizza and tasty buffalo slices. The penne vodka, shrimp parmigiana, raviolis, mussels, and shrimp franchise are delicious. Definitely worth trying. My only recommendation to this place is to update the restaurant. They definitely make good money so they should try doing some renovations. read more

This is the BEST AND EXCELLANT Italian restauarant in all of NY, There is nothing that isnt the best that I have had. The marsala and francaise out of this world. Chicken parmagian, meatballs, chicken rolls, mozzerella sticks, stuffed mushrooms and the best soups especially the italian wedding when they have it as a special. There steaks are out of these world/ I recently catered a party and everyone raved about the food, Mussels, Mushrooms, filet mignon tips and sliced steak was so tender and excellant. Went on a date here about a year ago. The girl was cute, but I quickly discovered that we had absolutely nothing in common. I ordered the veal right before she revealed that she was a vegan. Then I told her that I was probably never leaving Yonkers before she replied that she would die if she had to do the same thing every day and that she felt a strong need to travel the world. After about two hours of stilted conversation, she suddenly remembered that she had an essay due the next day and asked me to drive her home. I decided to try this pizzeria since I've tried many in Yonkers and haven't found any good pizzerias around here ... Well Carlo's is no exception. First they over priced my order and only found out after I got home and checked the prices on the menu, I ordered a large pie half regular and half pepperoni and was charged $18.50. according to the menu the pie plus half pepperoni should have cost $16.50 plus tax = $17.96 . My mistake for trusting them , not gonna happen again cause never going back, and telling all my friends not to as well. The crust had no flavor and the pie was small and they called it a large. I'm from the Bronx and moved here. I'd rather take the trip back to Bronx every time than submit myself to their pizza again ... Costco makes WAY BETTER PIZZA and for less money. I met some college buddies here the other night to catch up and eat some good Italian food. I was able to do both- we started off sharing a few orders of the burrata which was excellent and I had the seafood risotto which was also a good choice. It was chock full of shrimp, calamari, muscles and clams and it was a in a better than average red sauce. The meals were reasonably priced and the wine was as well. Our waiter was a really nice guy and did not rush us at all. I worked up the street from Carlo's and would order from this place all the time. Their entrees are delicious. I am very particular about my marinara sauce (being Italian and all) and they passed with me. Also, I have never been a fan of Penna alle vodka, probably because every other place has done a poor job with it, but Carlo's has made me fall in love with it. There heroes are massive, flavorful and well spent the $8-9. However, I did take off a star for their pizza. I am not a fan at all!!! Again, I have tried a variety of different types of pizza from here and regardless of the toppings, it doesn't make up for what the dough is lacking. Recommend the food, forget the pizza. read more
