I went through the drive-thru on my way to San Onofre and ordered food for me and my daughter and then an extra chicken breast for my dogs, when the gentlemen helping me heard it was for my dogs he went above and beyond by cutting it up in small pieces and splitting up and putting in 2 separate containers for them. Got Teri me food poisoning from here 2 weeks ago. I was throwing up for 12 straight hours. It was a bit scary because I'm also in my 2nd trimester and I've never had any illness while pregnant. I tried to contact the store manager but I couldn't get them to call me back. I sent an email to the corporate office and the district manager, Donna Branek wrote me back about a week later. She first told me "sorry your stomach didn't agree with our food" and then proceeded to blame an unborn child by saying "maybe the food didn't agree with the baby." This is absolutely ridiculous to say. It was most definitely food poisoning and I've never been this sick in my life. Donna didn't even attempt to look into the issue and was firm on just denying it didn't come from there even though I specifically told her it was the only place I had eaten that day. Pros: It is an average Carl's Jr. Cons: Too many unbathed surfers stinking up the place. Not sure if the staff actually speaks English. Overall not a bad visit, par for the course as far as fast food goes. I would not recommend eating in for lunch as the place services the majority of the locals coming straight from the beach. Also, being the first place with drive thru on the 5N makes the drive thru crowded at lunch. read more

Food was good for fast food, I usually hit a Carl's when I want a fast meal. I ordered and then went to the restroom to wash my hands before my meal was served, what a mistake that was. As soon as you entered the restroom the horrendous smell coming from the bathroom nearly made me puke! I have never experienced a more disgusting restroom in a business establishment in my life. The urinals were covered over with plastic trash bags, the sinks were so filthy that I didn't even want to touch the faucets. I couldn't push through the smell to go into one of the stalls. Slow and inaccurate service on a dead New Years Eve morning back at the end of 2011. I was repeatedly told to just finish the wrong burger with an offer of the correct side - had to ask twice for a new burger that still came up (still slightly) incorrect. Refugio the cashier also ignored and even stopped midway during my order, while the kitchen complained about their mistake. Never coming back for a pit stop on a long trip from SoCal to NorCal. Only place that was open late at night coming off base, and I was hungry so I broke my main rule, no fast food. At the drive thru i was greeted with " we will be right with you" after 5-6 minutes I tried to have a conversation with the speaker box, but it wasn't interested in talking back , so I drove around to the window to find two women just talking, I felt real bad to interrupt their conversation, the lady asked me what I wanted, then I thought maybe their closed, so I said food? (this is that moment where my brain is telling me to drive away but the stomach overruled it) I Ordered a western bacon cheeseburger and a drink it took 7-8 minutes again the brain saying go, sandwich came and I left, after I left reach in the bag and pulled out a regular cheeseburger.... I only stop in here because I drive a bus for a living and it is at the end of one of my routes. I used to try to eat here, but I quickly learned better. Now I just use the restroom, and even then I try not to need to. I know, I know - it's a drive through joint, what do I expect? Honestly, nothing much. A quick, cheap burger, some hopefully at least lukewarm fries, and an oversized cup full of HFCS. And somebody to take my order so I can get that pseudo-food. At no time that I end up here can I get service. And it's not like it's that busy, it's just chronically understaffed. There'll be four, five people waiting, and only one person handling orders for both dine-in and drive-through. That poor, poor only person. Kitchen is just as poorly staffed as the counter - if you manage to order, it takes a good five to ten minutes for something like two tacos. Not even a family meal, customization. Two pre-made, shipped-frozen tacos. The men's room is like a scene out of a David Lynch film. Bleak, flickering lights, oppressive air, dingy surfaces. Only one soap dispenser for two sinks (and, of course, they couldn't have put it in between the sinks). Frequently out of paper towels, and only one hand dryer. One of two urinals almost always out of service. "Wet Floor" cone frequently deployed (and no, it wasn't because they'd just cleaned, I can tell you that!). But, if the stars align and Cthulhu remains sleeping, and you manage to get served and fed, it's still pretty standard Carl's Jr fare. Really nothing worth putting up this much of a fight for, but at least they don't completely fail. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place. Stopped here before heading to the beach since it was connected to the parking lot. We only ordered a drink, 2 milkshakes and fried zucchini. It took for-ev-er!! We thought they had forgotten our order since 2 others received their order before us. The woman who took our order wasn't very friendly. The gentleman who gave us our zucchini was more pleasant. Oh and the drink machine....I opted for the blue Powerade. The pressure of the drink dispenser was so strong (in spurts) that it literally knocked the cup out of my hand the first time. I went through the dive through today and was very uncomfortable when I saw a few things. First, and most importantly, I could see into the kitchen and 2 of the people working weren't wearing their masks. Second, of the two people working the front, one was on his phone and the other wasn't wearing her mask (when she say us she went and hid around the corner). Third, when we brought this to the supervisor's attention, she and the rest denied it. The gentleman that took my orders name was "Alexis" in the drive through. So first off, I pull up to the drive through just waiting there and I don't say anything and he says "hold up" after me waiting for about 30 seconds. I could understand him saying that maybe if I was ordering or saying something but people usually tend to say something along the lines as "it will be one moment please" anyways, I say okay that's no problem and then I continue waiting, from there he says "what do you want" that's pretty damn insulting if you ask me, being the customer and since he was already rude so I take my order and he says my total and to come to the window, so now he doesn't even greet me which people tend to usually greet the customer as saying something along the lines of "hello, your total is $6.66" he just stares at me waiting for the money so I give him the money and he doesn't even say anything as in "thank you" or anything, look I know it's fast food but it doesn't hurt to respect the customer or show some type of respect. And then when he gives me my food he doesn't say anything. Anyways, I eat a shitload of fast food so my stomach is use to nasty fattening food.
