Good - Overall good experience working with Bre, Adrian, Luis, Aldo, Nikolay and especially Alex. Very professional, attentive, and friendly. Turn around time was very fast and I felt prioritized. Bad - Harassed by an employee named Mark 3 times in 30 seconds. Compared our financial situations multiple times and negatively judged my purchase because I decided to finance. Because I was so quick to be harassed by an employee I've never met before, what are the odds he does this to every customer? However, the manager Bre acknowledged my situation and immediately took action. She prioritized my value as a customer and set the standard by making me feel comfortable and reassuring my purchase. Side notes: Bre and Adrian need a raise c: Mark needs to find peace

‼ BEWARE - CARMAX SCAM ALERT Date: Aug 13, 2025 Location: CarMax center - Sales rep: Miguel Del Rio Vehicle: Hyundai Elantra 2015 I went to CarMax to sell my car. They took my keys "for inspection" and started the standard OBD reading. Then, the inspector opened the hood and added some unknown oil/substance into the engine bay -- without my consent. A short while later, my car started producing heavy smoke. The inspector then conveniently came back and told me there was "a problem" and that I should expect a much lower offer. For reference: In June 2025, CarMax had inspected the same car and offered $7,000. Between June and August, the car was driven less than 50 miles and kept in covered parking. This time, after their mysterious "oil top-up" and the smoke, they dropped the offer to $3,000 -- claiming the smoke reduced its value. The next day, I took the same car to Carvana. Guess what? Carvana offered me $7,200 -- no smoke, no fake drama, no shady tactics. Bottom line: This is either gross negligence or deliberate sabotage to lowball customers. I never expected such shady behavior from a supposedly reputable company like CarMax. My advice: If you value your car and your sanity, record the inspection process, and think twice before trusting CarMax with your vehicle.

I wanted to sell my 2022 truck so I looked up CarMax on the ol interweb. Their website is very easy to navigate, you just need to enter in some information about your vehicle and they will give you a quote right then and there and it's good for about a week. After checking a few competitors I found that CarMax offered the highest price for my truck. I called the 800 number and made an appointment at CarMax on Capital Expy. When I arrived for my appointment I noticed that the lot was jammed packed with cars for sale but looked well organized. Walking in I noted that the people were very friendly and were available to answer all my questions. I told them that I had an appointment and they started the process of checking out my vehicle right away. After they checked out my vehicle they offered me exactly what I was quoted over the internet. "Note what they offer you is not negotiable, it's take it or leave it. I did look up trucks similar to mine on their website and found that they were selling for about $4k more then they offered so I felt it was a fair price that they offered" The whole process takes about 3 hours start to finish. They handed me a check that can only be deposited into my bank account "in case you loose it or..." And at the end of the process they even paid for an Uber driver to pick me up and take me home. Bottom line I highly recommend them and I will definitely be using them to buy myself a used car in the near future. What I really like about CarMax is they don't play all the dealership games. 5 stars for customer service, cars available, and integrity.

    I love it. Absolutely mint.

WOW, this was absolutely the best experience ever. I picked a car out online. Got pre-qualified. Got a call in 5 minutes, got completely approved in minutes. And a rate that surprised me bigtime. Thet scheduled me an appointment for yest drive. It was waiting for me. Gavin, Jennifer, and Nicole were awesome. Made me feel special. I saw other customers also being treated amazing. This place has it figured out. I will only ever buy from Carmax. And the bonus is that the SUV is mint and looks new. A million thanks to all that made it happen.

SCAM Business I paid $800 on December 27th to have a car shipped from Texas to San Jose, CA. The car arrived on January 4th, but as of today, January 12th, I still haven't been able to see it. They repeatedly claimed I would receive a call, but that never happened--no calls, no follow-ups, absolutely nothing. Their customer service is shockingly poor. Today is the final day of their quoted delivery timeline. When I called again to check on the status, I was told they had no one available to smog the car and that it would take another week or more. If I were the manager of this location, I would personally take the car to get it smogged and ready for delivery. I decided to cancel and request a refund. However, when I called to cancel, the representative put me on hold for 20 minutes, forcing me to hang up. They didn't call back to apologize, address the issue, or offer any compensation for the inconvenience. They simply took my money and ghosted. This entire experience has been a complete waste of time. CarMax cars are already priced well above market value, but I was willing to consider buying from them for the supposed convenience. Unfortunately, their service and business model completely fail to live up to that promise.

During the evaluation, they told me they had to deduct $1,000 from the offer because the car was wrapped and they needed to remove the wrap before reselling it. I accepted the reduced offer based on that explanation. Months later, I was contacted by the person who bought my old Tesla. He found me on LinkedIn to ask some questions about the car. To my surprise, he told me the car was sold to him with the full PPF wrap still on it. I immediately called DGDG to understand what happened. Their response was, "You agreed to the final selling price, so there's nothing we can do now." I spent over 90 minutes trying to reach a manager. Everyone I spoke with said, "I'm not responsible; I'll connect you to the manager," and then the line got disconnected. When I tried to call back, I received no response. When I finally got connected with a manager, she said, "The buyer wanted to have the PPF, so we didn't unwrap it." And while I was still talking to her, the phone got disconnected again. I called back, but no one answered. This was a clear case of deception. They reduced the price claiming they had to remove the wrap, then sold the car as-is with the wrap still on, profiting from my loss. Avoid doing business with this DGDG. If they ask to reduce your car's value for any reason, demand clear documentation that explains the breakdown of the final offer and the reasons behind any deductions. Do not rely on verbal explanations. I regret trusting them.

Throughout it all, I appreciated that Jeremy was knowledgeable, no-bs, patient, and responsive. I never had to communicate with the dealer at all, until I showed up at the dealership for my test drive, where the salesman had all the paperwork ready to go. From test drive arrival to leaving the dealer with my new car, it only took 2 hours, which feels pretty efficient. I don't really understand how Jeremy gets paid because he didn't charge me for anything, but I'm so glad I found him.

Both experiences were delightful, stress free (who would associate stress-free when you buy a car?) and quick. No hassle car buying - that should be his business's title. He helped us narrow down the list of cars we were looking at and make a decision that worked for us. He also scheduled all the test drives, negotiated the prices, and pointed us to a specific person at the dealership, a complete VIP experience. He did the same for our friends just this week, they bought a great car in a great condition, he negotiated the price down and steered them away from less desirable options. My friend was nervous (just like I was before ) because the process of buying a car is stressful. But after they got into the dealership and the car was waiting for them, they test drove and bought the car. My friend said: who would have thought that I can enjoy buying a car! And that's all thanks to Jeremy. Believe me I'm not hyping him up, he is professional, kind and customer centric. Thank you Jeremy!
