When 3 people arrive within your first 5 mins of sitting to make sure someone has taken your drink order, I'm impressed. Everyone was friendly and attentive and best of all the food was delicious!! Just as we were ready to leave 10 mins before closing, 2 women arrived and were greeted, welcomed and seated with no second thoughts that it was almost closing time. Maybe they do breakfast best? Their breakfast offerings were appealing. Unfortunately, we had already had breakfast and stopped in for lunch. The menu was conventional, there was nothing we were excited to order. I had a taco salad and was surprised that they don't have avocado or guacamole in the restaurant. The biscuits and gravy were stale and reminded me of my grandma in a bad way. Our waitress yelled at us for trying to get an extra raspberry jelly from a nearby table when she even hadn't checked in with us since she first took our order. One of the three of us enjoyed our breakfast and the other reviews blew my mind that people would choose to go here over Mr.Bs. The other waitresses looked very nice so maybe was just this experience, will not be back. read more

Had a REAL good corned beaf hash omelette. My wife and I went a bit nuts and also got French toast, grits, and and pancakes. Lots. Of. Food. Nice and attentive staff. Even though it was obviously busy, they got us right in there and kept the coffee flowing while we waited. read more

This is one of my favorite diners in Muskegon for morning breakfast. They have a good selection and great food, they also have decent prices which works out better for larger groups. The only thing preventing me from giving five stars is having to constantly ask for drink refills multiple times, every time I am in there (doesn't seem to be a server issue if it's every server at different times of the day). Recommend, for sure, but if you drink a lot of coffee and water (or pop and juice) you need to be proactively monitoring your levels... haha! read more

The was my first visit to Carmen's Cafe. We decided to give it a try based on the Yelp reviews and I have to say they did not disappoint. The Triple Decker Club was, of course, huge but perfect for sharing. The onion rings were large and extremely good - not at all greasy like onion rings I've tried at other restaurants. The veggie omelette was AMAZING!!! And I'm not normally a veggie-only person. Oh. And don't forget to have the sundae before you leave! They have small & large and the large can easily be enough for 2-4! I'd recommend Carmen's Cafe any day of the week. read more

Fantastic service and food. Breakfast and lunch all day. Did start getting busy around 10:00 so there was a wait to get a seat.

The food was okay but the service was terrible. We waited for 20 minutes for our table and so we sat down at around 10 AM. We waited and waited we got our food at 11 so we were eating lunch. Also it felt like we were always waiting on our waitress for something. Also there is only one bathroom per gender. read more

Right when you walk in you can see that the atmosphere is in a rapid pace. Everyone knows a diner on Sunday is always gonna be a challenge. Five minutes in we were greeted with an energetic approach and we were happy to be there. Order is taken and for the next 5 we take in the atmosphere. 15 minutes has passed and now we enter the owner. From then on we endured a micro managing nightmare that we had no choice but to be a part of. We were just two people who had to negotiate between our own conversation and her constant badgering of her employees. I guess what we can take away from this is that the owner was more concerned with people coming in than taking care of the customers who already "drank the Kool-aid." It's just an opinion but I know from experience that micro managing either the halt or even worse the death of progress. Pretty much one of the best in Muskegon. Breakfast and lunch menu is great! I've been frequenting this place for over ten years, and before their move to the new location. If your visiting, give this place a try, if you live here in Muskegon you should be eating here! read more
