After returning to Seattle from my grandson's graduation, we decided to visit Carmine's on 5th for date night. Carmine's on 5th has become one of our go to locations for great service, food, and vibe. The space is snazzy folks! We were seated almost immediately, but before that, we saw our favorite waiter (Josh)! We were hoping to be seated in his area but the restaurant shifted him to another space and he wanted us to be seated at what has become "our table." So, we became acquainted with another waiter, Jonothon, who Josh assured us would take care of us. Josh was on point! We began this dining experience as many before with Sauvignon Blanc and an Old fashioned. Next up were deal Calamari appetizers, Calamari Affogati and Calamari Fritti. The Affogati included squid in a simmered in a spicy sauce with garlic, tomato, olives and capers, and the Fritti provided fried crispy squid with spicy marinara and lemon aioli, topped with hot Fresno peppers. Both dishes were great, though the Affogati had a heavy hint of olives and capers. Our server Jonothon provided tableside service for the Affogati On this visit, we decided to try different entrees. I chose the regular special, the Spicy Squid ink pasta with large Prawns (Spaghetti Nero) and my wife the Frutti di Mare Spaghetti with Gulf prawns, Manila clams, mussels and calamari, simmered with Calabrian peppers and tomato. The latter comes in two portion sizes, she chose the small. As always the presentations were first rate and both were prepared excellently! Lastly, we went for the Gelato dessert which was prepared and presented tableside. Jonathan did an excellent job and the dessert was delicious! Carmine's has a separate dessert menu. I would suggest that Carmine's post their dessert offerings online with their lunch and dinner menus. First time here. The restaurant itself is nice. Very pretty and well for date night. Calamari was salty for my tastebuds and more batter than the squid itself. Bread was hard but it was complimentary. Pasta was decent. Some of my noodles were still uncooked or wasn't cooked evenly. The best thing was the steak. First time at the Carmines on 5th Ave and had an amazing time. Our group got seated in the front and the service was spectacular. The food came out hot, fresh, and in a timely manner. Drinks came out pretty fast as well. The calamari size is a bit smaller than usual. The pasta has always been really good and no complaints. I ordered the ribeye steak and that came out grilled perfectly. The ambiance is very cute. Loved the chandler in the middle of the room. Such was the case here at Carmine's. I was contacted by Philip, one of the owners, the next day and we had a really nice conversation. Went back this evening and had a lovely experience. From the cocktails to the service to the food to the atmosphere, everything was perfect! Overall a delicious meal, our server was great. prices are quite high.. but it is downtown. We ordered the Bistecca alla Fiorentina which was very tender and well-dressed with garlic/herbs. They mentioned all the steaks on the menu were dry aged! The squid ink pasta was one of the specials of the day, and came with massive grilled prawns that were very charred/smoke-y and well-cooked. From the moment you step inside, you feel transported -- almost like you've stepped into a 1960s New York subway scene, but elevated with modern, sophisticated design and rich, moody colors. We were there for a birthday dinner, and Josh made the entire night unforgettable. His wine expertise was beyond impressive -- he walked us through regions, flavor profiles, and special details about each selection with confidence and passion. It's rare to find someone that knowledgeable and genuinely engaged. He made us feel heard, guided us thoughtfully, and the girls loved every recommendation. The food absolutely delivered. The lobster pasta was a standout -- creamy, rich, and generously topped with a heaping portion of lobster (not just a few flakes). Every bite was perfectly balanced with cheesy, silky noodles cooked just right. Another friend ordered the Bolognese, and that meat sauce paired with the pasta was so flavorful you just keep going back for another bite. The portions were generous -- especially for a restaurant of this caliber -- and we left completely satisfied. And let's talk gelato -- because you cannot skip it. Beautifully creamy and generously scooped, it came topped with the most delightful additions that elevated every bite. The toppings were not an afterthought -- they complemented the gelato perfectly and made it feel indulgent and special. For such a great price compared to the portion and flavor completely exceeded expectations. It was rich, satisfying, and yes... I happily devoured every bite. Josh's service was truly next level. I usually opt for the sautéed version, but the pieces seemed especially tiny and it was really olive-forward. Don't think I'll order that again. 3) frutti di mare - 3/5. Dunno if the spaghetti noodles were overcooked or if the sauce was off, but we didn't enjoy this. This is usually a good option for me at the Bellevue location, but I wasn't feeling it. I'd give it 3 stars, but the ambiance was nice and our server was great so I'm gonna round up to 4. Before we entered the restaurant, we knew that we were in for treat. They did an incredible job in creating the perfect atmosphere and food. Incredible staff and service. Romance shines through and through. Very sophisticated, elegant and mouth watering food. The only suggestion is to cut out some of the salty seasonings. Our calamari was cooked perfectly, just too salty for us. The rest of our meal was great. Will definitely return. We had such an incredible experience here and I can't recommend it enough. Everything we ordered was amazing. The steak was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, the lobster was outstanding, and the duck confit is a new favorite. Honestly, every dish we tried was delicious. The service really stood out. I asked our waiter about doing a strawberry margarita shot, and even though he said it's not something they typically offer, he went above and beyond by having the bartender create one and bring it to our table. That level of effort and attentiveness made the night feel extra special. The restaurant itself is beautiful, both inside and in the lobby area. The nearby bathrooms in the Sixth Avenue building were very clean and well maintained. The staff were extremely careful with presentation and cleanliness throughout our meal. I came here Friday night with a girlfriend for our annual holiday dinner. We usually try to pick somewhere new each year to try and make our celebration more fun. This was such a beautiful restaurant! We made earlier reservations at 5pm so it wasn't too packed when we got there but by the time we finished around 7pm, it was completely packed with a lot of people at the door. Apparently they had overbooked for the night. The hostess tried to give us a 1.5 hour mealtime but our food took a bit of time. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees to share and everything was delicious! The calamari was perfectly light and crispy and the clam linguini and mushroom risotto with prime filet were both really good as well. Service was great overall, everyone was very welcoming. For parking, I parked in the garage next door for $17 but I should have just done valet for $12! Note for next time! read more

Absolutely horrendous front of house service. We had a reservation weeks in advance but when we arrived the front of house was completely unprepared. There was a long wait before we were sat and then they brought us to the wrong table. The manager curtly corrected the hostess who had brought us to the wrong table without acknowledging us or the awkward parade around the restaurant. We were never provided a drink menu and when we finally asked for one the drinks took 25 minutes (not exaggerating) to arrive. If you're going to charge these type of prices you had better deliver on service. So many better options downtown! read more

We started with the Gnocco Fritto, which had great texture but was slightly too salty for our taste. The fried calamari was well executed, and the Insalata Mista felt fresh, vibrant, and indulgent. The Bucatini alla Trapanese was the highlight -- rich, deeply flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. The pasta was perfectly firm to the bite, tasting fresh and hearty. It was so good I ordered another one to go. The fettuccine with prawns was also excellent -- creamy, rich, and comforting. The filet was tender, juicy, and cooked beautifully. While the food was memorable, the service unfortunately fell short. Our waiter felt dismissive and rude, which impacted the overall experience. This place is really good. Nearly perfect. There's room for improvement but I still think they deserve 5 stars because so many things are excellent. The main room is very grand with high ceilings and sparkly chandeliers. Was initially disappointed not to be seated there but in the end we were very cozy in the back room with lower ceiling, thus better for talking, and more romantic lighting. So we were happy. We ate: -Complementary bread & butter. So many places (even high end) re-warm bread that isn't the freshest. This tasted freshly baked and had great flavor and texture. And the butter is high quality. -Pane Caldo appetizer. Every single element was superb. Best pesto I've ever head, very high quality balsamic, burrata, prosciutto, etc. The bread alone is to die for and they should use it for sandwiches or pizza at lunch. -Ceasar salad. So good. Wish they did it tableside like at old school Italian places. -Paccheri alla vodka. Very good though surprisingly spicy for a vodka sauce. Also not as creamy as other vodka sauces I've tried. The sausage was good but unnecessary. Would prefer a smaller pasta as these tubes were enormous. And yet, I would happily get this again. -Gnocchi Ripieni. I always get gnocchi when it's on the menu and was intrigued by these stuffed ones. Very tasty but it should be an appetizer because after a while it gets to be too much cheese. Maybe if there was more gnocchi surrounding less cheese. It was still good though. We chose the marinara sauce which was amazingly flavored. Great for eating with the bread too. -Bistecca Tagliata (bone in NY steak). The flavor and buttery texture of this steak was delicious. One of the best I've had. It was extremely well prepared. The walnut herb sauce was like a really good pesto and they only put it half on so it's not overwhelming. The fries were perfectly crisp and perfectly seasoned. Thought about upgrading to truffle fries but glad we kept it simple. There was an unfamiliar vegetable with it that had amazing flavor and was clearly not an afterthought just to add something green. -Affogato. Not on the menu but we asked and they made it. The vanilla ice cream is made in house and is the creamiest ice cream I've ever tasted. It was almost a custard and I'd like to try it on its own sometime. As part of an affogato it wasn't cold enough for me. I like the hot/cold contrast. They pre-poured the espresso on top before bringing it to the table, so maybe that was the issue. Best to bring the hot espresso separately and let the diner pour it on the ice cream. The service was flawless. Not at all stuffy and super helpful. Our server helped us choose an excellent wine. And I also had a couple very flavorful, and not too, sweet cocktails. We'll be back for sure. read more

We love Carmine's in Bellevue and were happy to find out they have other locations. We don't venture into Seattle often, but knew we would be here on this particular evening so we made reservations to check out their newest location. Beautifully decorated, loved the high ceilings and tons of chandeliers. Menu is almost the same from one location to another with a few minor differences. Service was super friendly, and we actually had the opportunity to sit at the bar for cocktails before dinner. If you're not a local and frequent flyer at the Bellevue location don't even bother trying to sit at the bar. The bartenders there save seats for their "favorites" and if that's not you, you ain't sittin'! Anyway, this Seattle location off 6th was nice, friendly and inviting. Food as always, was really really good and we loved everything we ordered. Great place, and would definitely recommend. read more

Carmine's delivers authentic Italian cuisine across all three of its locations, each with its own distinct personality. The menus are largely the same, and thankfully so--because everything is consistently delicious. It's the kind of place where you go in thinking you'll try something new, and then happily reorder your favorite anyway. My personal favorite is the Pioneer Square location. The ambiance there just feels right--warm, lively, and about as close as you can get to feeling like you've stumbled into a neighborhood spot in Italy (without the airfare). The Bellevue location is also lovely. While I wouldn't normally call myself a "Bellevue person," I will absolutely make the trip when good pasta is involved. Priorities are priorities. The 5th Avenue location is the newest addition to the Carmine's family, and it definitely has a unique setup. It used to be a lobby with soaring ceilings, which makes the space feel grand--but also means sound likes to travel. If you're planning a deep, intimate conversation, you may find yourself leaning in and saying "what?" a few times. That said, if your main focus is the food, you won't mind one bit. Bottom line: no matter which location you choose, you're in for a great meal--just maybe pick your seating strategy wisely if you're chatty. read more

This was a special at their Bellevue restaurant and I missed out so I was delighted to see it on their permanent menu here Tableside gelato with toffee caramel sauce and hot fudge -- both a show and a standout dessert, rich, creamy, and executed flawlessly. It was whipped light and airy, everyone around us was eyeing it as their dessert option! The service truly set this experience apart. Every member of the staff was attentive, polished, and thoughtful without ever feeling intrusive. After our meal, the manager personally came by to check on us, which spoke volumes about the level of care and hospitality Carmine's provides. We celebrated our daughter's 33rd birthday here with a party of 12, and the team handled it flawlessly. We were seated in one of their private dining rooms, which was perfect for our group (including two kids), and the service made everyone feel genuinely welcomed--like you were dining with family, not just being waited on. The food was outstanding across the board, and the porcini mushroom risotto with filet mignon special was next-level good--rich, perfectly balanced, and memorable. True to the Carmine's tradition (Il Terrazzo Carmine and Carmine's), nobody leaves hungry, disappointed, or feeling like the bill outweighed the experience. Terrific in every way. We had a reservation for 5 pm when they first open. The atmosphere is beautiful, the staff are gracious, and the menu had lots of options that appealed to us. The pasta came out hot and delicious. Really could not have asked for a better experience. And if you compare the prices to other Italian restaurants, like Tutta Bella, the prices are simililar but but the food and atmosphere at Carmine's is far superior. read more

Booked a month in advance for a special occasion, and disappointed when we were sat in a private group room with a loud birthday party. Ruined the mood and put an negative tone for the evening. Too bad because we were very excited to check it out. Tried to appeal and say this wasn't the experience we had booked but the manager could care less and had no empathy, despite the hostesses trying to be more understanding and helpful. I really didn't appreciate the attitude and tone in which that Managment spoke to us. It wasn't becoming at all from an establishment I've had better experiences at in Bellevue. Food was fine (say 3.5 stars); but unspectacular. Since they are new, I anticipate they are working the kinks out; it tasted like ours had been waiting out for awhile before it was run out. The timing of the courses was impeccable and she moved with ease around the table making connections to make recommendations and take food and drink orders.
