Messy, pricey, but delicious!! If you want seafood but your tastebuds are elevated above simple fish and chips, this is the place for you. You pick your seafood King crab, snow crab, (blue crab in season), shrimp, mussels, clams, and crawfish then pick your sauce....spice levels are 1-4. I went with the garlic butter and mild spice. There is no picture because the aroma of garlic and butter had my party salivating like Pavlov's dogs before the first bag hit the table...... They bring it to your table in a double plastic bag slathered in a pound of butter. The table is covered in butchers paper. They put a bib on you. Your drinks come in paper cups. They put an empty bucket on the table and move away knowing that there needs to be a minimum of a 5 foot splash zone for safety.... Lordy have mercy....this seafood was cooked perfectly. It was seasoned perfectly. The service was outstanding. They even tie your bib on! And I giggled... as my friend had to be talked through peeling shrimp and picking crab. Up to this point, her palate had only known breaded and fried seafood (which they have and is delicious)...well, she is a believer now!! We will be back! I ordered crab cakes and chicken wings they were definitely over breaded and over cooked. The crab cakes were very Dry. I guess stick to the crab boil that looks like what they are known for. If you don't like crab boil go somewhere else because the dishes I tried overcooked. I gave 2 stars because I thought the hushpuppies were good. The sweet potato fries were just okay a little greasy. Before the pandemic, I used to eat in and everyone is always friendly and the order is always right. At some point during the pandemic, I really craved it but was unsure of how well the meal would do in a to-go setting. I placed an order for pickup, got home 25 minutes later and let me tell you, it was still HOOOOT and the flavors were just as good. I've done that a few times since and again, they are just consistent with the quality of food they put out. Pricing is fair/competitive with other places. Wanted seafood while visiting family in Cary. Looked on Yelp and saw this place. Seemed very similar to what we have in Atlanta, so my sister and I went. There was a line when we got there. Check in on Yelp, so you will already be on the list. We sat at the bar, but not without incident. The lady at the front said it was first come, first served. When we got to the bar another worker said it wasn't on the weekend. After a few minutes we just stayed at the bar and ordered. I had the shrimp and crab legs. 3 1/2 stars. I have mixed feelings about Cary Crab House. On one hand, all of the seafood tasted really good. We had King Crab, Snow Crab, and Shrimp. It was all cooked perfectly and the sauce (Big Bang) was out of this world. There were, however, several things I did not like about this place. First, Husband and I both ordered the King Crab (1 lb for $30.99). The portions seemed really small. My husband's portion consisted of two legs. The legs were not cracked at all and it was quite a battle to open them. After finishing the King Crab, Husband and I were still hungry so we ordered shrimp. I would definitely recommend ordering a Combo (as my 13 year old did). Some of these might be more expensive but you definitely get more bang for your buck. 13 year old ordered Shrimp & Crab Legs (Snow) for $34. Not King Crab, but there was so much food....two huge clusters of snow crab and plenty of shrimp. Plus, the combos come with both corn and potatoes. With single entrees you choose between corn and potato. Cary Crab House serves "boils" like Joe's Crab Shack but the boils are served in an entirely different manner. You are provided with paper plates and plastic forks. Instead of a big pot, the boil is brought out in a big plastic bag. Roll up your sleeves cause this can be messy when reaching inside the bag with all that finger lickin good sauce. The menu is limited: Boils, fried baskets, wings. That's it. I don't think my 15 year old could have eaten here. Service was good but bottom line.....For all the money we spent, I would rather go to a nicer place. read more

Stopped by for lunch on our short family trip because we were craving seafood. The decor inside is super beachy and cute. We sat in a booth by the window. Husband and I opted out of the combinations and got our usual: two pounds of shrimp with heads and two pounds of crawfish with 2 corns and 2 potatoes in the Big Bang sauce with spice level medium. We ordered the chicken tenders basket with fries for our boys to share. Our waitress (I think Mei Young is her name) was so sweet and kind! She definitely made our experience here amazing. She brought out our drinks and some gloves, bibs and plates prior to our food. When the food came, it was hot and we dug in right away. The sauce was pretty good compared to most of the seafood boils we've had. It tasted better than we thought, quite frankly. The shrimp and crawfish we had were huge! I had a bit of my kids' tenders and fries and both were pretty amazing as well. They give you little cups of garlic butter on the side and I kept dipping my seafood into the boil bag for the sauce and into the butter. Seriously so good! I asked Mei Young for a refill to go and she was so kind and so prompt to do so. We left with full bellies, and my youngest fell asleep in the car right away! Can't wait to be back! read more

I have been to similar restaurants before in Seattle so I went in knowing what to expect. But if you've never been to a place like this I highly recommend you give it a try. I personally love garlic and Cajun sauce so those were the sauces I chose. I have to say, they did not disappointment me. Just moved to Raleigh and this place is a 5 minute drive drive us. My boyfriend and I absolutely love a good crab boil. We came to this place and left happy and full. The seasonings are amazing! We got the flavor where all of the options are combined at a medium level of spice and it was perfect. When I tell you we didn't leave a thing on the table. We didn't. A soft opening. Hard choices. Cary Crab House didn't make it easy to choose. Blue crab isn't in season yet, but crawfish is (yay!). There are oysters, mussels, crab legs, shrimp, clams, and lobster tails. Each of these is available individually, and fortunately, in combo platters. There are four sauces available, and four spice levels, from non-spicy to hot. Most combo platters come with both potato and a small corn on the cob. The individual seafood comes with either the corn or the potato. This place, as the name suggests, all but requires patronage by those who like shellfish or seafood. There's only one basket with chicken. One of the extras includes sausages, and there are wings available in three flavors. Otherwise, it's seafood or shellfish entirely for proteins. I picked the combo platter of shrimp and crawfish. Because. Crawfish. Given all the things on the menu that looked good, it was a hard choice. The shrimp comes unpeeled with head and tail on (or for extra, without heads). If you eat crawfish at a crawfish boil, you know they come the same way. Neither the shrimp nor the crawfish is purged and for some that might be a deal-breaker. Both were fine, although I don't think the shrimp was fresh. I picked the medium spice level and didn't find it particularly hot, so next time I might go with the "hot". The food comes in a double plastic bag, tied, to keep the heat in and the sauce from spilling over everything on the trip from the kitchen to your table. Then you can spill it yourself. The tables come covered with paper. Understandable. The staff will bring a metal bucket lined with plastic, a paper plate, plastic tableware, plastic gloves, a bib, and an individual lemon-scented wet wipe. All of it will be useful. They should consider bringing two of the wipes per person, though. While I appreciated the plastic gloves, it's difficult to peel shrimp or crawfish wearing them. Every time I tried to get a napkin from the dispenser on the table, I ended up dripping sauce on top of it. Next time I'll start pulling them out of the dispenser in bunches before the food arrives so I'm ready. Maybe having paper towels might work better. Or, maybe I'm just a messy eater when it comes to peeling shrimp and crawfish. Wear short sleeves because this sauce will get all over everything. Cary Crab House is off to a good start. It's still in the soft opening phase, but I expect the opening hiccups will work themselves out. read more

Fantastic food. Everything was hot and delicious. Be prepared to get messy, they have bibs for a reason lol. Southern style seafood boil served in a bag with a bucket for the scrap. The crab legs were fresh and flavorful. The Cajun sauce and seasoning was amazing. We also tried their fried chicken with the Cajun seasoning and they are hands down one of the best fried chicken we had. The hush puppies were delicious and served with honey butter. She recognized she was in the presence of Royalty and offered to put on my bib. So of course I obliged :-) I got the medium Big Bang crab & shrimp and it was lovely. The shrimp was cooked to perfection, the corn was awesome, Potatoes was meh and the crab was great. The potatoes would have been better if they cut them up and salted them a little bit. Maybe a 3.5, but rounding up to a 4 as I did not have any lingering garlic breath or seafoody fingers after eating here. I have had crawfish boil 3 times, once in China (which I barely remember), and once in NYC (The Boil), and here. The Boil in NYC had a lot more flavor, but also left my fingers/breath garlicky and seafoody for quite a few hours, maybe even the next day. This place has less of the garlicky flavor, so I felt the depth of flavor was a little less, but I am glad to not have the aftermath odor linger. (Both The Boil and Cary Crabhouse provided gloves, but I feel like I enjoy the food more without gloves.) That being said, while the flavor is not as strong, it was still good. Just very oily towards the end, and you can see a lot of the oil in the bag. We ordered a combo.. 1 lb crawfish and 1 lb shrimp (headless) with Big Bang flavor, spiciest level. It was a lot of food for two people. Also came with 2 potatoes and 1 corn. I think the corn was my favorite part of the bag. The crawfish are huge, and definitely had a lot of meat. Husband thought it was a little fishy though, so he didn't eat any of the crawfish, and ate all the shrimp instead. We also ordered a side of hush puppies, and those were very nicely done, with bits of corn inside. I think that I get spoiled with all of the choices of LEGIT seafood during my travel times to the coast, that I forget to dig into the Seafood foodie scene in Raleigh - because there definitely is one! The concept here is they place a bucket at your table and a large "adult napkin" which, definitely utilize this because I spilled butter ALL over the place and these folks were super nice about it lol. The dish comes in a bag keeping all of the wonderful flavors in tact. I ordered the shrimp with heads with all of the flavors combined, which is called "The Big Bang." The flavors were impeccable! It took me back to an outdoor-style Lowcountry boil on a wonderful day with good people. Seriously? I paid $124 for food- 2 orders of shrimp (no heads) & crab with 1/2 lb sausage in one order, and a lb in the other order. Last minute, I added an order of chicken wings. DO NOT EVER ORDER the chicken wings. It was over-breaded & almost burnt. There were 7 drummettes & 3 wings. I guess when you order to go, you can't see that they've cheated you giving drumettes, instead of actual chicken wings. A BIG letdown- to think we can go to Captain George's Seafood Buffet for $46 per person, all you can eat crab legs and seafood galore, compared to this one little bag of "crab legs & shrimp" with sausage thrown in- what a disappointment. read more

Ample parking in the shared parking lot at the Crossroads Plaza shopping center. No wait at 6pm on a Sunday. Our party ordered the following: shrimp basket with side order of sweet potato waffle fries; shrimps with no head and steamed only (no flavor); shrimp with no head and snow crab legs combo with the Big Bang flavoring (mild spice); and a side order of hush puppies. Be warned that the Big Bang flavor has a little kick from the Cajun seasoning (I'm a wimp and it didn't bother me). And the hush puppies contain corn niblets. Everything was delicious! And served quickly too! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Each order is filling for an individual. The non-fried meals are served in a seafood boil/ low-country boil/ Frogmore stew style and comes with 1 corn and either 1 or 2 small potatoes. They even provide bibs, plastic gloves, and a bucket for trash. I have a love/ hate relationship with this much waste. But it's really messy to eat crab legs, especially with the Big Bang flavoring. Came here for my 2nd year anniversary with my boyfriend. It was really good. I like oysters but if the oysters aren't fresh I won't eat them. These ones are definitely fresh. There was no fishy taste to them at all. No only that there was so much meat to them. It definitely made up for how much oysters cost. The flavors were there for the shrimp and clams. I love the Cajun spices. The only thing is I think the shrimp was overcooked. When you over cook shrimp the shell tends to stick to the meat and then it's hard to peel. But the clams were great! Perfectly cooked. I like the squichiness to clams. Overall we throughly enjoyed our Anniversary Dinner here. If ever we're back in Cary we would definitely stop by. read more

My first boil experience in NC .. we ordered the Big Bang mussels (that were to die for) and an order of king crab and shrimp !! Having very high spice and heat level expectations the Big Bang definitely was super satiating !! Service was great can't complain our server was kind of quick. However being served in a plastic bag is just nasty. Didn't like the taste at all I asked for garlic butter they brought me this orange reddish sauce at tasted like pretend butter and old bay. I would never come back even though the service was good in our waiter was fantastic the food just is terrible. I actually felt I was going to be sick after eating it didn't eat at all either.
