Stopped in with our small family of 3 on a Friday. We had no wait for a table and ordered snow crab leg boils. One Cajun mild and the other butter garlic not spicy. Also a side of rice. We loved it. The food was so good and fresh and the seasoning was so good. Even our 5 year old was enjoying the crab legs. The rice was perfect with it. Loved! There is a variety of options on their menu but sausage does not come in the steamer bags. You have to pay additional for them and it ranges from 1/2 lb to a pound. The portions are generous. They have a variety of flavors you can choose for your seafood. I opted the flavor that combined all flavors and it was delicious! The service was quick and good. The inside decor resembles a fishing boat. It was very clean and spacious on the inside. I feel they are reasonably priced and the portions were generous. Flavorful, rich seafood served with quick, friendly service! While in crossroads on a Friday night we decided to stop here for dinner. Although clearly a popular restaurant, they seated us right away after asking if we preferred a both or a table. Their service and clean-up is quick so their customer turnover seems high. The menu is simple and easy to read (as long as there is no glare off the plastic covering). We were greeted by Gin right away who took our drink and food order. Drinks are provided in paper cups and food is brought out in plastic bag. Although I did not like all of the waste, bringing out the seafood, potatoes, and corn in the bag ensured flavor distribution. Usually at these types of restaurants the seafood is way too hot to handle when it arrives at the table. Here, the food has cooled somewhat so that you can start eating right away. We ordered a 1 lb of crawfish ($12.99), 1 lb of snow crab legs ($23.99), and 1/2 lb of sausage ($5). Flavor was great, spice level was good, crawfish was slightly overcooked, crab legs were also either overcooked or older, and the portions of potato and corn are small. Only one small red potato and a half a cobb of corn. For the cost of the seafood, we expected to receive a larger portion of potatoes and corn with the meal (similar to the portions provided at other crab houses). Pros: -they bring you out everything you need to enjoy your meal and stay somewhat clean (bibs, gloves, napkins, wipes, trash) -flavors are good (I chose Cajun) -you can choose the spice level -unique sinks (I refrained from taking a bathroom picture), but the sinks are blue, fancy, and make it easy to clean off all the seafood smell -fast service, good place to go if you want a quick meal -friendly employees (esp. Can I give them 10 stars?!? If I could I would! I mean wow. I ordered to go and the line of people waiting to eat, plus the packed dining room immediately let me know that I was in for a treat. I ordered in person at the restaurant but you can call ahead to order as well. It only took about 15 mins to get my order ready. The ride home with all the aroma of all that delicious food as brutal. I wanted to dive right into that boil on the car. We ordered the crab boil, fried catfish, fried shrimp, hush puppies, and extra sausage, potatoes and corn in the Big Bang sauce. Great restaurant in the Crossroads area. Very laid back, but the wait staff was very attentive and the food was prepared to perfection. My wife had the fried oysters and I had the steamed shrimp. For desert we had the creme brulee cheesecake and we intended to take some of it back to the hotel room to enjoy later, but after a taste it didn't make it out of the restaurant. Cary Crab House was an "out of the ordinary" experience. From the moment I approached the double doors to enter the dining hall, the atmosphere appeared slightly off center from that of a normal seafood restaurant environment. The first thing that hit me was the graffitti written all over the beautiful wood doors. Okayyyy So the craftsman in me cringed but I quickly got passed that once I walked inside and found out that it was part of the decor. The staff was very pleasant, the establishment was extremely clean, and the service (received at about 19:30 on a thurs.) was quick and efficient even though the restaurant was packed. We ordered a few baskets (large fried oysters, large butterfly shrimp, and tasty fried calimari {Great! But no fried clams?!!} ). The food came quick, and hot. The taste...quite fresh. This was surprising since Cary is inland and far from the sea. And better yet, nothing was too salty or spicy. The quality was definitely better than Red Lobster....which I noticed was on a commercial playing on the "large overhead monitor" while I was eating! Smile. So by now you're wondering...."Why don't they get 5 stars?" Because the menu could use some major adjusting. You can't order a salad and there are'nt vegetables on the menu other than corn on the cob?!! If you're a youngster and don't like vegetables this is great, but for the average adult it makes it impossible to order a healthy meal. I would have loved an option here or there like onion rings, a salad, cole slaw, etc. Management doesn't have a sign for this but if they did it would read, "No Vegans allowed!" But that's just me and it's enough to keep me from coming back. The seafood is a few notches above Captain D's, but they could learn something from their competition about providing a complete and healthy "family" dining experience. FINALLY got to check this place out. For starters, this place was PACKED on a Friday night but the wait was super short. The menu can see overwhelming at first, but they've made the process simple. I was with a group of 4 so we chose to share (only option TBH). We got the headless shrimp and crab leg combo and another pound of shrimp along with a basket of oysters. When choosing your sauce you CANNOT go wrong with the combo of all 3. My mouth is watering thinking about it right now. Each bag comes with a potato and corn (so so soooo good). Had a group of 10 go there on Saturday. Service was very good. Ordered the crab legs and they were ok. Tasted like your standard pre frozen crab legs from the grocery store. A little surprising that the meal comes with one small boiled potato (new potato) and probably a third of an ear of corn on the cob. Might as well throw a couple potatoes and a whole ear of corn. There are 3-4 flavors that you can choose from, I went with the garlic butter. The flavor is mixed into the bag but also comes with a side of garlic butter dipping sauce. On a scale of a crabstix to a Krabby Patty, Cary (Juicy) Crab House is an average crab cake (too much filler, light on delivery of the star). Came here with my son last night to try it out. Reviews looked fairly solid so it seemed promising. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, open but too close to other tables your conversation isn't drowned out. The menu is somewhat limited. I'm fine with that as doing too many things on a menu generally means none are done that well. This is a straight Cajun "scavenger seafood" place with bottom feeders serving as the star rather than fish. No problem. We both ordered a duo: snow crab and headless shrimp. We also both ordered it "Big Bang" style (a combination of all three ways they can season it: Cajun, Garlic Butter, and Lemon Pepper), as heat level hot. We bibbed up and waited...for a pretty long time actually. Close to 30 minutes from the time we ordered until the food arrived. The crab and shrimp were both pretty tasty; no real issues at all with the food. The crab was mostly easily extracted and the shrimp were also fairly easily peeled. Both seemed fresh and were fairly tasty. The seasoning was mostly tasty but we both picked up on one clear thing...it's almost surely not butter they use for the Garlic Butter. If it is it the most margarine-y tasting butter ever and the extra butter they provide never got solid (a pretty clear indication of a fake). So that's ruined things a bit, for me. The other issue was the pricing is high for what you get. The combo was $38. Maybe I wouldn't have cared if it was delicious but it fell short of that for me. read more

You will get dirty but no fear as you will get a bib and gloves and believe me you will need them. All orders come in clear plastic bags. I suggest using scissors to cut the top of the bag for easier access to the food. I decided to go to this restaurant on Mother's Day because my mom loves their wings .. When we got there we we're seated immediately but still had to wait 1 hour just to receive an order of wings. I normally do the Big Bang seasoning which is good but this time I tried the Cajun Garlic and enjoyed it so much better. It was real garlickkkky and I loved it! I think they did decrease their portions - not the prices - but it's still a good amount of food and businesses are in a tough space these days so I still support. This place is amusing. I came here at around 5pm on a Saturday. I wouldn't recommend coming in any later on a weekend because by the time we were halfway through our meal @ 5:30pm there was a line out the door and at least a 20 minute wait by 6pm. The decor is nautical and whimsy. Apparently you can write on the walls, so bring a sharpie or ask for one. Admittedly, I was curious to see if the "noose knots" a different Yelper photographed earlier were left up--they were not, and I could tell they had been cut down based on the hanging ends. A very wise decision, good on them for listening to their patrons instead of doubling down on a sensitive subject. Always a hallmark of a good restaurant +1 They provide a shell bucket with all the essentials for your meal: wet wipes, crab cracker, gloves, and a bib. I know bibs are kinda cheesy but WEAR IT if you get the head-on shrimp; I twisted the head off one and oily juice geysered onto my "Juicy Crab House" plastic bib. Would have meant instant death for the shirt I worn. As for what we ordered: Me? It was the crab legs and head-on shrimp combo with sausage. Medium heat (I'm gonna go hot next time), with cajun and garlic butter seasoning. Mine had two potatoes and a corn cob. Lots of real garlic hunks, none of that powdered business. Boyfriend got crawdads with mussels, medium heat with the whole shebang or whatever you call all the seasoning mixed together. Server brought out two extra cups of butter for dipping. I agree with other Yelpers that they could stand to throw in a couple potatoes and another corn cob for the price, but we did get plenty of seafood. I also like how they use a green mussel species because their shells don't break easily and they're meatier and bigger. I would've gotten mussels had I realized they weren't going to use those underwhelming, black mussels that tend to be small and brittle. Anyway, the shrimp and crab tasted great. As did the sausage. Service is patchy though. Not that I blame our server entirely, but because it was so busy towards the evening she just got too overwhelmed by all the customers she had to attend. It took 15-20 minutes to ask for our check, that's how busy. Overall I liked the experience and will be back again. I really enjoyed this place. It was slam packed with people. We had about a 45 minute wait. So do not go hungry. By the time your wait is over you will be hungry. So they give you a bucket a bib, gloves and a lot of napkins. My wife and daughter got the crab legs and shrimp. I got the shrimp and crawfish. With the creole seasoning. And this was really good. To start, I'm not exactly seafood-adventurous, but I like certain things, especially when done right. Cajun anything is one of those things. I went through the reviews and read about the seasoning added after and how good certain dishes and spices were, so I was able to pick a winner that fired up my taste buds: 1 lb snow crab, 1 lb sausages, extra corn and potatoes, with big bang sauce in the hottest spice, all in one bag. Amazing. Just remember to dip your shelled meat back into the sauce (or ask for a spoon to ladle it on) since the seafood isn't cooked in the spices! We also picked up some fried soft-shell crab and cajun fries, both of which were really good. The wait staff is very attentive and friendly, constantly asking if everything is okay. But they really only need to fill your drinks after the food arrives, because prior to that, they bring you a bib and gloves (I skipped, but the wife used, so not too many pics due to messy hands lol), a huge shell bucket, wet wipes and a nutcracker. Overall, the pricepoint is exactly right for the quality, taste and service you get. The nautical decor is kinda kitschy, but neat (minus some ominous-looking ropes hanging from the cieling). The TVs were playing weird things (Milk, a Halle Berry Movie, random sport talk shows, etc) and someone reeeaallly likes Celine Dion and Josh Grobin elevator music lol Definitely will be back and bring friends and family. Terrible takeout food!! We have been trying to patronize brick and mortar restaurants with the take out only service amidst Covid-19, however this is the worse. The corn on the cob was overcooked, the catfish was not fresh and very, very fishy and the shrimp with the head on was overcooked, overstrain with a meaty texture. The cashier was rude through her plexiglass window. Will not waste my taste, money nor time on this restaurant!!! Just opened, but very very promising! Located in cary crossroads area, it's hard to miss with the big storefront sign. The interior is very clean and spacious--nice nautical theme throughout. We ordered 2 pounds of shrimp and a pound of crawfish with Big Bang sauce and Hot spice level. The seafood came out very quickly in piping hot plastic bags and a lot of sauce on the bottom very dipping. The sauce is spectacular. It is so addicting--super garlicky, flavorful, with a nice spice kick. (I recommend ordering the Hot spicy level because it wasn't even \ that spicy..so I imagine the Medium and Mild have no spice at all..) The service was great--our server was prompt, helpful, and got all our orders right the first time! Quick refills, a new pair of gloves, etc. She was on top of it, which was a pleasant surprise for a newly opened restaurant. My only gripe with Cary Crab House so far was that in each boil bag or combo, you only get ONE half-cob of corn! Or if you choose to get potatoes instead, you only get TWO small ones! We had a good experience dining out as a family, the place is clean and new. The Cajun flavor was great, although slightly on the salty side for both boil and fried. The corn in the boil was very tasty, I wish it has more! The fried cat fish was juicy, coating was crispy and not greasy. The Cajun fries were very good as well. The soft shell crab basket was kinda small. Now onto things that we hope can be improved: the shrimp and crawfish was not very fresh, the meat was hard to get off the shells. And the dirty part, the black lines of the shrimp is still in. We have been going to Cary crab house for about 2 years now, the last few times were definitely hit or miss. Mainly, overcooked seafood, shrimp that weren't cleaned, too much oil in the sauce. Yesterday I was craving some seafood. I ordered pickup for 4:15 (usually order online) when I went in, the restaurant was quiet. Grabbed my order and headed home. Last nights meal did not disappoint and I hope every meal going forward can be just as good! Some highlights- my crab was cooked perfectly, not over steamed, easy to crack and eat. Shrimp were cleaned, sauce was flavorful and even the potatoes had some flavor. Not sure if they put some salt in the water but they were tender and delicious yesterday. I'm from Texas and crawfish are a huge deal there. I was excited to try this place but was sadly disappointed. Ordered the crawfish and shrimp combo which is served in a boil bag. The food was very hot and while that is great it continued to cook the shrimp to being overdone. Yes I had the bag open while eating but crawfish cook slower than shrimp. Also the seafood didn't take on the seasoning, shrimp and crawfish usually cook in the seasoning but I think the seasoning is added to a bag and not cooked that way.
