Been coming here for years. Dined in and ordered to go... all employees are nice, but one older female employee seems cranky all time. The nice employee make up for her... Visited earlier this evening as we were in Prescott for the day & decided the 4 1/2 stars on google was appeasing enough for us to give it a try. Service was slow and uninviting, owners were there and there were children bringing us our drinks and menus. As a child of a business owner, I loved helping my parents out from time to time, however in the restaurant industry this is not only unsanitary but very odd and we clearly were not the only people uncomfortable with the children under 10 serving us. On top of this, food came out cold and the waitress seemed annoyed when we asked questions about the menu when we have dietary restrictions. Overall the restaurant itself was alright and the vibe was very family oriented. Definitely better food & service if visiting Prescott. We did hear that this place was under new ownership so I only wish the best for the new owners and hope they take these things into account for better dining experiences in the future! read more

Casa Alvarez is one of those Mexican restaurants that will not disappoint you at all. About three years ago they remodeled it and the place has always been up to date since then. Some of the workers seem to never age, they've been there for years and always have the same caring attitude. They're attentive of their customers and give great service. They never forget about you and always check up on you. Their salsa is one of the best I've had. It's a little addicting. The best part is that refill all the time without you having to ask. I have tried plenty of dishes on their menu but you cannot go wrong with the Fajitas. The amount of meat they give you is a lot for two people. Their rice and beans are great. You can ask for no cheese and the beans are still delicious. The complimentary soup and salad are great too. I'm always happy to come here. My food doesn't take a long time to come out. They hardly ever make a mistake. And if they do then they apologize and remake it. It even depends, sometimes they won't charge it or they will give you a discount. Their combination plates need a little more "combo" and feel like they are trying to give you the least for the most. ==================================== Easy parking, free chips and salsa, and a menu offering all meats (pork, beef, chicken, & fish). Most items are offered as cheese filled with an additional .50 at lunch to a 1.00 at dinner for putting something substantial in them. Wet and dry burritos are offered with different fillings, and most of the good ones are on the dry side of the menu. However, if you want it wet, they charge a buck for the sauce. I personally refer to this restaurant as Casa Ala Carte since you have to add everything to get the meal you would normally get with a glance at most other places ( {cough}El Faralito {cough} Placentia {cough}..) The staff is very friendly and attentive. There are booths and tables that can accommodate any size group, with TVs in the ceiling so you don't miss the big game. Ice tea is mas grande, and tasty (evidently not brewed in the coffee pot like so many places). I like to order the two small burrito combination, which you can mix up like chicken with green sauce and carnitas with red. Their carnitas are very good with just a little skillet scalding on the bottom pieces... yummy. They have a campechena, but it doesn't look like a value for the $$ so I have never ordered it. Besides, with the free chips and portion size we really don't need a starter. Most combos come with soup or salad. Their albondigaS (i say that because you will get 2 or more meatballs as opposed to some places that give you just one, and therefore should call their soup albondigA) is very good, and the salads are crisp. The ranch dressing is creamy and thick, so you should order it on the side because they heap it on and you usually have to use a spoon for the last few bites of salad. Lunch specials are $5.95 (+drink), and dinners average about $10 to $15 after you add your meat, and a drink. Overall: Casa Alvarez is a friendly place to eat with good service and consistent food. The Chile Colorado and Chile Verde is excellent, as are the Carnitas, Carne Asada, and the beef taquitos (my favorite). Come here for Sunday morning Menudo, it's really good. I also like their Caldo De Rez. And no Mexican restaurant can be good without good rice and beans and I LOVE their rice and beans - have to say it, even more than my moms. I follow Casa Alvarez on IG and I've seen lots of post of their food, well I decided to stop on by because I'm always looking for a place that not only servers menudo but they have it every day not just the weekends. I saw Casa Alvarez served it every day and it was a must. After my doctor appointment yearly checkup all signs were great and I was feeling a little down because the holidays are fast approaching. I decided to stop at Casa Alvarez and first thing I noticed was the restaurant was very clean, my waitress came to seat me at a table per my request and I was ask if I like anything to drink? I ask for coffee and water. The coffee was excellent you can tell it was fresh and it wasn't rewarmed coffee. Over looking the menudo I found the menudo and ask for a bowl along with 2 hard shell chicken tacos. After munching on some chips and salsa which by the way we're very good especially their salsa, came the menudo and hard shell chicken tacos. It came with all the fixings onions, cilantro, lemon, oregano and Chile flakes. I also put some salsa in the menudo and a little cheese from the taco (my dad would put shredded cheese on his menudo that's where we learned it from) boy oh boy it tasted so good just like my grandmother's use to make. It was unbelievable how good this was, all I could do was think about my years of us sitting at my grandma's table eating menudo with family. Hard shell chicken taco was very tasty too right amount of everything didn't over do the lettuce, cheese, every bite was delicious . This is one of my hubby's go-to spots for quick, but good, Mexican take out. It's usually pretty solid, but tonight I ordered a tostada salad and got something closer to nachos instead. Nothing like the tostada salad recommeded on their website. Too bad. Would normally give them 3 or 4 stars, but taking off a few stars for that. They should have at least said, "we don't have tostadas (crispy flour shell) at the moment, would you like nachos instead (made with tortilla chips)?" I would definitely have ordered something else! Very badly played to the paying customer. We didn't notice until we were back home and it was too late to go back... I want my money back! Update: I upped the stars because the manager gave us our money back. If you want a tostada, order the chef tostada. If you want something closer to nachos, order the tostada... I also enjoy the free chips and salsa with every order, it defiantly tops of your delicious food. So far I have tried the enchiladas, ceviche, but my favorite is the pozole. I've eaten at all the Mexican restaurants close by my house and I've always been disappointed or even grossed out. However Casa Alvarez turned out to be a nice surprise. My husband has been wanting to eat here for awhile but the price and bad experience eating this type of food in the area turned me off to the idea. But we had friends over and everyone was craving Mexican so I relented. I ordered the carne asada plate but replaced the rice and beans with a salad since I'm trying to reduce carbs. The meal also included a small cup of meatball soup which was tasty. The carne asada was tender, not over seasoned and a good portion. Others in my group ordered tacos, a chimichanga, and a wet burrito. Everyone was happy with their food. The chimichanga and burrito in particular looked huge but no leftovers so I assumed it was tasty even though I didn't try it. The meal overall satisfied everyone's craving and in particular it was not bad for to-go. As mentioned earlier I thought the prices were a little higher than typical but we did order dinner. Lunch is priced better and specials offered throughout the week including happy hour. If Casa was located anywhere else it might only be 3 stars but for this area (in the same plaza as Stater Brothers) it's a great option. Received these coupons for many years and decided to go after like 10 years. Located in the same plaza as the Stater Bros by Fairway. I ordered the Buckin Bull Bacon Burger. It came out in fairly large portions. It tasted pretty good, only thing is that the meat patty needed to come out medium rare so it didn't taste extra well done.
