My wife and I came in for lunch on Friday and looking over the menu we decided to split. She told me (I knew this already being married for over 20 plus years) that she judges a Mexican restaurant by its Chile Relleno so they had a duo on the menu so we could each have one and then rice and beans. To me it was really good, nice flavor, well made but she said that the shell was a little too firm and even though she liked the flavor she said that she wouldn't order it again. The food is good, arguably the best Mexican food in SCV. However, I agree with others about their nickel and diming on condiments, salsa, chips. I totally understand it is a small business and money doesn't grow on trees, but as a customer, it is a bad look to charge $5 for an 8 ounce styrofoam container of salsa when I literally just wanted two more little containers. Imagine going to another restaurant and being charged for extra butter when your bread comes. And the hardest part to swallow was when she asked if I wanted chips because they're "free". I've come here three times, and ordered the potato tacos three times. I like 'em. They're stuffed with potato (not overly seasoned but not bland either), pico de gallo, cheese, and lettuce. The shells of course are thin and crispy. Two tacos are served in a combo with fluffy rice and beans (pinto or black). I also ordered a large agua fresca, and my total before tip was just under $20.00. I wouldn't have minded if it were a bit cheaper. On previous visits I've enjoyed the pineapple agua fresca. This time I ordered the same thing and it was green for some reason. The website tells me that it's cucumber pineapple spinach water, which I guess explains the color/taste. I love pineapple, so I prefer the original, but this was OK. I do wish I'd been given a heads-up that it isn't straight pineapple anymore (the change is new according to the website), but it's also on me to ask. They provide chips and salsa while you wait for your food. There was a lot going on at lunchtime today (all the tables inside were occupied, and they had a number of takeout orders, so I know the cook was busy). But the wait wasn't bad, and both people that I dealt with were very friendly. read more

The new name is tripping me out. It's supposed to be the same food and owner as Rosarito Fresh but something is definitely different. At the "new" place, I tried the nacho fries, shrimp taco, pollo asado plate, and street tacos. Why did everything suck so bad? Even the nacho fries...they were the soggiest heap of sadness I've ever seen and tasted. I will say though that the carne asada was tender, but that's as far as I'll get. We got 2 items and my total was $55...All we got was a breakfast burrito and chilaquiles, nothing special. When I originally called to place my order the lady answered the phone with "Yeah?" which was my first red flag. After placing my order, paying in store, picking up my order, and going home to find out there was plastic and metal inside my burrito, I called the restaurant to let them know. The rude lady that initially took my order, brushed me off and just passed the phone to a different female employee who was very sweet and apologetic! After eating a couple bites of our meals we both got very sick with food poisoning. We had to cancel our plans for 3 days following this meal. Please do better Casa Pasilla!!! It's places and customer service workers like these that are the reason robots are taking over these industries!!! Perhaps short of help like many other restaurants these days, but those working there did not leave a good impression and it was also not very clean on entry with clutter on outdoor tables. I have been coming here for a long time and have told many people about this place. Every time I come especially within the past year I've noticed my favorite dish the Gringa Tostada getting smaller and smaller! I came here again and there is no more traditional shell. It all lays on a what looks to be a small tortilla deep fried and the amount of food is half or less than when I first started coming. To The point when I put on salsa and mix it all, it's all over the plate cause the shell is just too small. Not to mention it cost 20 bucks for this and a drink. I understand having to cut some costs but this is ridiculous! There is another Mexican restaurant that serves a proper Tostada that's three times the size and is cheaper in cost. I'm willing to drive the extra 5 minutes further for a great tostada. It's a shame how much I loved this place and supported them with spending lots of money. Hate leaving this place hungry. We ordered chilaquiles rojos and a chile relleno I want to start off with the chilaquiles, they were decent nothing to brag about, the sauce was bland it could use more flavor and from my understanding chilaquiles are meant to be spicey and there was no spice whatsoever. Now, the chile relleno I am very disappointed the sauce tasted like canned tomato sauce and my chile relleno was cold and I was really trying to like it but I get this sweet taste and I have never gotten that from chile rellenos before. Rosarito is a small Mexican restaurant located in Valencia, california. I especially liked the menu the most because the Tacos are $2 each. I felt that the $1 raised from the past was not great makes it less affordable for the tacos. Outside, it is next to other places to eat on a side vicinity. The parking lot is small but there are enough spaces for people to park. The surrounding area is located near a high school. Interior was small. There is little light from outside coming in and the a/c was on. There are also two fans on the top that help further cool the inside. There is a television in the corner ceiling and a bathroom with "El bano" listed just above it. You don't need a key to use the bathroom. I also noticed that there was no free wifi available. If there was free wifi, you would need a password to unlock it, I couldn't find any. The tables and chairs are wooden and hard. It wasn't confortable to me at all! Near the wall next to where the television set is, there is a mini salsa bar for those who want to put condiments on their food, I found this great although there wasn't any miniature cups available. I had to ask them for some cups which is inconvenient. The beverage station had horchata, Jamaica and an orange bang drink available along with the regular soda machine. The service was great! The women at the front were kind and gave me my order quickly. I waited around 5 minutes for them to give me my order. The food on the other hand tasted okay. I ordered the Carne Asada platter which came with two tacos, three taquitos and a tostada with quacamole and sour cream on top of a shell with beans and rice. I also had the Chile relleno, with beans and rice with a soft taco. The chile relleno was delicious. Price was hefty. For what I ordered, I paid about $24 for both of the dishes. The platter from what I recall was about $12.99. The chile relleno was similar, someone should have a menu posted in the photos. I didn't feel like the quality was good enough to justify its price. It should have been cheaper, but overall it tasted okay. The other items on the menu have been increased over several years, but I felt it was moderate. Overall, my experience was good. I docked a star because the items I ordered weren't amazing, the place was very small and I had to ask for miniature cups for the salsa station. Other than that, the bathroom was standard and the atmosphere was good. The place is good for dates, it isn't noisy and it is worth the try. read more

I'm sad to have to leave this review, since we have always enjoyed the food here. But the service we received tonight was just not ok, and we won't be returning. We realized during our 45 minute wait for our food that the restaurant is prioritizing to go orders at the expense of their dine in guests. We watched order after order placed after ours get boxed up and handed out. On top of that, it was Taco Tuesday, and my husband got a taco at what he thought was supposed to be a $1 discount. He confirmed the price when we ordered, they said "we got you". We were charged full price, however. When he called that to their attention, they said they raised the prices on the tacos (but apparently not the rest of the food?). Any price increase wasn't marked or written anywhere. Our assumption is that she just didn't want to call her manager to give us back the difference. So we're done with them. read more
