Love this place! Come back every time we stay here. Make sure to get a reservation early. Primary reason we come here is for the Wild Card cocktail - just love the mix of carmelized pineapple purée with the habenero agave (and all the other ingredients). Could drink many of these (well, could isn't a fair word, we did drink several each!). Only complaint this time is the margarita glasses were full of ice and they didn't even fill the glasses all the way with the cocktail - felt a bit cheated because we love these so much. We ordered the guac and the asparagus tostada to start. Guac was fine but can't recommend the tostada enough - perfect amount of char on the asparagus. Felt like we got swindled a bit because waitress upsold us and asked if we wanted salsa without making it clear that it was $19 for it and then they give you so much (compared to the guac at least) that we wasted it. Feels like chips and salsa should be complementary (not the guac - I get that). We also ordered the gen salad which, although it was heavy on the dressing enjoyed very much. The octopus appetizer is always a winner here too! And the chicken tinga enchiladas were great. During previous visits have also tried the shrimp, short rib, and strip steak entrees which were delicious. Don't miss the green rice either. Food was fine. The best thing was the oysters. They had the most unique flavor to them. The crab corn was also very delicious. The short rib was dry and average in flavor. The fish was fine but not blown away. The seafood platter was great. The shrimp were huge and crab and lobster were delicious. Our waitress was all around awful. We asked her what she recommended before she ordered and she looks surprised. She told us what some of the popular dishes were but couldn't tell us anything about them or why they were popular. She gave us the short rib which we did not order but then didn't bring the cucumber salad that we did order. When we mentioned it, she said well you should just keep the short rib because you have to meet a $$ amount per person. Uhh we were quite surprised by this. We weren't mad about spending the money, it was more so she never once mentioned it before and then made the decision for us on what we were ordering to meet that. We would have ordered differently. She finally brought us the cucumber salad but it was about 15 min after we had finished eating. She then brought us dessert menus and didn't come back to ask us for our order for at least 20-25 min. By then we were done. That is way too long. We kept having to flag her down for things because she never came to check on us. She never once asked us if we wanted more drinks. It was just one bad thing after another. She made the service awful. I understand we were there on New Year's Eve but they weren't packed at the time we were there. There were empty tables all around. The restaurant overall was nice inside. But honestly the service was so bad it just made for an awful experience. Would not recommend. read more

I am at the Wynn and it is 6:15 pm so I take the opportunity to go to Casa Playa. Lately I don't eat after 2pm for diet reason but I wanted to try for so long the short ribs, I decide to let go... Cinco de Mayo, not to busy but I did not have a reservation so I have to eat close to the bar... Seated on table 21, Dana took my order and perform an excellent service, since I am in the industry for the long time, I can tell you hospitality is about smiling, make you feel welcome and special during your entire dinner, Dana did all of that and perform at a Forbes service Standards level. 3 sala and homemade chips (1 Spicy, 2 Mild) are immediately put on the table after my order. You can already taste the difference between your local Mexican restaurant and the Wynn, those salsa are delicious. My Wyagu short ribs Suadero is the best short ribs I ever had and the homemade tacos are amazing! Wynn price again $52 with tax + 20% tip made me realize how much I like to dine in quality restaurant like the one you can find at the Wynn. Another winner in my Book. I will be back read more

If you can't get a table, don't sweat it -- sit at the bar and you'll likely have as good a meal. The bartenders might hook you up if you're friendly enough, and they're very handsome. The food is fancy Mexican, trying a bit too hard to be inventive when all it has to do is taste good, and not much how much it's over-priced, but it's Vegas. If you want to pay $33.00 for one turd wrapped in wet paper, order their Vegan Chiles Rellenos with BURNT brown "sauce". It comes with what Casa Playa (CS) calls "tortillas", which have never been warmed, taste like wet paper & looks like raw bologna! Amazing how CS makes you wait 20 minutes when clearly they are 90% empty tables...I believe this is a gimmick self-proclaimed "elite" restaurants use to make them feel important. I even asked the hostess why I had to wait when 90% of the tables were available and she basically could not answer. To add insult to injury, my server turned her back to me for 10 minutes, while I was trying to get her attention! Finally another employee saw me waiving & told her to turn around. This is a very beautiful restaurant. Due to location and Yelp ratings I had a little higher expectations. To start we had a 5:30 reservation and waited, since they were not open at 5:30 in a line with 20-30 who also had reservations. Then had to go through a simulation of a line in a theme park to get seated. With multiple check points. I believe you are paying for the experience and not necessarily the service. Service: Our bus boy and girl were more experienced and knowledgeable of the menu and food then our server. Our server came to our table to take the order and payment that's it. When I asked her what she recommended as her personal favorite. She could not answer did not appear as if she had a passion for food being served. I asked how mole dish was prepared, she struggled, her answer. She seemed bothered that we asked the bus people questions at one point she interrupted and said I'll answer. But as stated above she did not have the answers. Don't get me wrong the food was good, but as a Latin person I expected more flavor. I ordered Branzin Talla, in my opinion this was bland. The presentation and sauce on the fish looked good. But not much flavor. Green rice was good. Salsas delicious. Great homemade corn tortillas. We opted not to have desert here, walked to the Cafe for desert. No presentation or explanation of menu, sorry it's Vegas I am just used to this in Fine Dining hospitality is top notch in this town. In conclusion I am local and would not bring my friends and family here for dinner. Price does not match the experience we had. I came here before for drinks only before and had a good experience. Last week I came here for a dinner experience and overall did not have great service at all! First of all, once we ordered our drinks they took so long to come! Our appetizers even came before our drinks which is beyond strange! That should not happen. I am not sure if the bar was backed up! Also, we asked for limes for our tequila shots and they legit never brought them! We had to ask multiple servers who weren't our server to bring limes! Also same issue with straws! It was as if they were purposely ignoring us! I did not feel welcome at this restaurant! I been to hundreds of restaurants on the las vegas strip and this was by far the worse serviced ! One of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever ate at. Way too good. From their chips and salsa to their main entrees everything is done to perfection. My personal favorite are the fried avocado tacos. The service was great. I wish I remembered our waiters name so I could mention it here but I'll be sure to get it next time I visit. He was great and very attentive. As for the ambiance, it's on another level. So beautiful. It really makes you think you are in the coasts of a beautiful Latin America country. I am always skeptical at the thought of deviating from classic, authentic Mexican food. Sometimes "elevated" offerings just don't impress. That isn't the case at Casa Playa. The seafood is easily the freshest I've tasted in Vegas. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and was pleasantly surprised that it was served with a corn masa tortilla instead of flour. But it was delicious! Soft, supple, buttery. The cheese pull made me mentally drool. The Forbidden Fruit margarita(s) were yummy too, though not potent. The vibe was chill. My lady surprised me on a birthdate night here and it did NOT disappoint! This was the spot elio used to be, and although I miss that place, this place saved one thing on that previous menu. The black truffle tostada. It is so good! I won't be comparing the 2, but I will say, this spot is still good. We started with the obsidian (awesome drink, black salt was tasty!!), and my lady got a cocktail, but I can't recall the name. Maya blue, possibly. She liked it, and she doesn't normally drink. We ordered oysters, and so far, they were her favorite oysters she's ever had. I wished they were a little larger in size, but they were still good! Next, we ordered the surf and turf, it came with salsa and tortillas to make your own tacos. For 2 people, this was well worth it. We got to try just about everything. The lobster with chorizo was amazing, as well as the steak. My lady doesn't take her steak medium rare, like I do, but since it was my birthday, she went with it and actually truly enjoyed it. We are staying at the Wynn for a legal convention. Two out of the three members of our party got severe food poisoning the day before at the Wynn. I called them to let them know what was happening and that we would probably need to cancel our reservation due to the food poisoning we received on their property. They charged me $75 for a cancellation fee without notifying me on the phone. The manager Joe would not give me the employee's name. She charged me without letting me know that this was going to happen, if she had let me know she was going to charge me $75 I would've went in person and gotten takeout or something. I told Joe this is unfair business practice, they had every chance to let me know that they were going to charge me for something that is outside of my control and they did not do so and they continue to charge me. Very bad customer service. Joe said the reason they don't let the customers know that they are going to charge their credit cards without their permission is because it "bothers the guest". I'm more bothered by the fact that you fraudulently charged my credit card without letting me know when I told you the party has food poisoning. This restaurant is very different from all the other ones at the Wynn and the Encore. All the other restaurants on the property are great and the employees that work there are amazing. None of the other restaurants have ever fraudulently charged my credit card before. Hopefully someone at the resort will look into the fraudulent behavior behind their employees, because these people are really lowering the value of the resort. read more

We were four comfortably seated in the lounge on a Wednesday night while a DJ played old and new reggaeton music. The overall presentation of the dishes was clean and appealing. Outstanding new restaurant at the Encore! My husband and I split several appetizers - the Truffle tostada, guacamole, and tuna tartare. We also had the Surf N Turf which is made to share. All excellent with wonderful service to boot! My favorites were the drinks, the Truffle tostada and the Surf N Turf entree. We had the Choco Taco for dessert - not the best or easiest to eat.
