This is our family's favorite sub shop and has been for 25 years. However, we have one recommendation: Please go back to how you used to put them together--meat and cheese first and then all of the toppings. When they are prepared with the meat on the top, they fall apart when you take a bite and it's hard to get the delicious flavors of the toppings mixed in with the meat. We moved away from Rehoboth several years ago and always make it a point to stop in at least once when we visit. The Italian sub, fries and Birch Beer are our standard items to order and we always leave happy. I will say that subs have localized taste and assembly variations so what you get away from home may be a bit different, and Casapulla's are not the same as Carmen's were 50 years ago. A Classic Sub Shop Every sub variety we've tried has been delicious. They give a generous amount of meat in each sandwich. Many of the meats are cooked by Casapulla for their own use. The fixings are fresh and include the standard options. The only negative is the roll which I find to be overly chewy. My son loves the grilled cheese from the kids menu. I'm a firm believer in reviews and I've found some of the best restaurants as a result of them but this time I was let down - big time. My husband and I make it a point to try out at least one new restaurant each time we come to Rehoboth Beach and since we were in the mood for subs we decided to check out Casapula's, after all they've been around since 1956 so they must be doing something right...wrong. First off, the staff is not the most friendly, that's for sure, although the girl who took our order was pleasant enough the ones who make your food and call out your numbers when your order is ready shove the bag at you like you've inconvenienced them in some way, they clearly need a refresher course in customer service or perhaps they have a future working at the MVA. I ordered the Pizza Steak and I was covered in tomato sauce as I attempted to open the sub, there's no reasonable explanation for the condition of the sub other than the person making it couldn't care less. The meat was wafer steak (Steak Um like) and the cook didn't even make a minimal effort to chop it, just tossed it on the roll, along with some random pepperoni that was actually barely lukewarm and then added sauce minimally over the meat but poured over the outside of the roll. I took 1/2 of the mini size back to the room and our golden retriever wouldn't even eat it, he looked offended after sniffing it and left it lying on the floor. My husband got the Italian, the sandwich they boast about and although he said it was edible he quickly stated that we should have gone to Frank & Louie's because they truly understand the art of the Italian. I should have listened the the 1 and 2 star reviews that I saw on different sites but we wanted to try something new and this time it didn't work out. They do get points for having Birch Beer on their fountain but I have found that quite a few places in the Rehoboth carry that as well and the Birch Beer wasn't worth the upset stomach and disappointment. If you want a really awesome Italian sub avoid this place like the plague and head to Rehoboth to Frank & Louie's or Surf's Edge in Fenwick, this place has clearly gone wayyyyyy downhill. read more

I had a regular cheesesteak , a chicken cheesesteak, and an order of fries (not in one sitting). This was the best cheesesteak that I have ever had. A few days before, I had a cheesesteak from Pat's in Philly (the original) and after trying this one, I think Pat's should take a lesson from the cooks at Casapulla's. The fries were also really good too with malt vinegar on top. If you are even in the remote area of Casapulla's, definitely go eat one of their cheesesteaks. read more

Maybe it serves me right for ordering a salad at a sandwich shop, but it was on the menu. Frost-bitten brown lettuce, no tomatoes, onions, Parmesan. Nothing but lettuce, really. The warm yellow sludge at the bottom I can only assume was chicken at some point. Went here around 3 pm on a Saturday in February. Still crowded, brisk business. A good sign. We had the steak and cheese and Italian sub with sweet peppers not the hot. Things I liked: great bread-held the steak & cheese together and the bread was chewy and delicious. Loved the provolone and real meat/ steak. Excellent subs and steaks off route 1. Perfect to order in advance, always a crowd, and take to the beach.

The subs here are huge and satisfying. It's in a random strip mall which makes it feel a little weird but it's great. Good cure for a hangover too ;) The meatball sub is huge -- enough for lunch, dinner and maybe even another lunch. Kinda heavy on the garlic, but isn't that kind of expected? It should be. My family has been going to this place ever since it was opened. Its the only place I have ever had a sub in DEL. When we would drive up from Maryland there was always a request to bring back Subs LOL. Ive traveled all over the country in search of the perfect Italian sub during my travels and have no found one that could beat Casapults. Ever place these days has these small little skinny subs with no flavor, they don't even know how to build one if they did have the right ingredients. I'm all about taste and size.
