This was a great place for breakfast right inside the Omni Fort Worth. The restaurant is as beautiful as the hotel. I would say its upscale cowboy. They definitely got the Fort Worth feel. We had the art of breakfast buffet. There were many choices including an omelette station, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, blueberry pecan pancakes, fresh fruit, eggs, and much more. They even had goat butter. The service was as amazing as the food, and ambience of the restaurant. I would definitely eat here again, especially when I stay here again. read more

This is our absolute favorite brunch spot in FTW. The only other brunch buffet we could find here is Blue Mesa and it seriously pales in comparison to Cast Iron. Atmosphere: large restaurant with fireplace, very rustic and laid back Staff: I could not say better things about the staff. They are always willing to help and are always happy! Enjoyable evening here at Cast Iron. We came for wine and appetizers and enjoyed each one of them. First of all the wine selections were top notch. They had a rotating menu with the flavors of Rioja Spain and they were simply delicious. You can tell the chef here has a love for food and art. Each one beautifully displayed and so delicious. On the seasonal menu we tried 3 different appetizers (I can't remember the names of them which were in Spanish). One was a meatball, another was a mancheco stuffed date which was bacon wrapped- delish!! We also had the tortilla soup which was very unique and had a wonderful flavor. Caesar salad is huge and full of flavor. Lastly we tried the black bean hummus, very creative and delicious as well. We will definitely be back. read more

My friend and her husband wanted to meet up for dinner and so she made reservations at Cast Iron. I had never heard of it but I love going to new places so hells yeah, let's go! We got there first and were escorted to our table by the host. The dining room was swanky with darker wood floors. Very very shiny slick wood floors. I found out how shiny and slick they were as I was strutting like a rockstar through the dining room when my feet came out from under me and I busted it! BEFORE I had any drinks whatsoever! It would have been much more embarrassing if we hadn't been the only people there. The waiter was at first very concerned if I was ok but then he joined in laughing with us and told me I was only allowed one drink. hahaha Yeah right! At least our table was seated by a very cozy fireplace and the window behind it you could see people coming and going in the lobby of the Omni. We ordered a bottle of Shiraz for a reasonably priced $40...so good and reasonable that we ordered two bottles by the end of the night. Our waitress told us that they had a buffet as well as the option to order off the menu. We checked the buffet but it wasn't really appetizing sooooo on to the menu. This menu is very Texas - steaks, pork chops, some fish options, and hearty sides served in mini-iron crocks. The BF and I shared the fried green tomatoes. They were fresh green tomatoes breaded and fried and they were extremely tasty. For my entree I got a pork chop - it was so huge I thought I might have gotten the entire pig on my plate. It was cooked well and decently seasoned but I didn't think it was orgasmic, just good. The mac and cheese was creamy and slightly smoky in flavor - definitely delicious but this ain't no Hibiscus! The BF had the prime rib and he thought it was "pretty good" - I thought it was alright, but prime rib is not really my thing. His side was the blackeyed peas flavored with sausage - those were the bomb! The service was great throughout. Our waitress was always there refilling our wine glasses and checking on us to make sure we didn't need anything. And when we left the host that sat us made sure everything was ok and joked with me about being careful walking around! Hahahaha whatever! So the food was a solid 3.5 stars for me and the service bumped this place up to a 4 star rating. read more

I expected it to be a lot pricier than it was, it was actually pretty decent (I think I paid like $9 for my burger and drink). Though I ate here more than once on my recent stay at the OMNI, I never quite recovered from the first experience disappointment--likely because it set the tone on when I could actually eat. Specifically, I showed up at 6:30AM for their breakfast buffet, which I expected to be ready, as they open at 6AM. Well, the buffet does not actually open til 7AM, which they rudely informed me of. Well, the next visits offered a better experience, as the waitress cared for me better. I heard my first waiter yapping off, not checking on me or bringing me water. If I am the only patron in the eatery, I expect to have a good topping off of water, when needed. In terms of the food, I wish there had been more variety--anyone staying for an extended amount of time, such as myself, could easily tire of the same ol'-same ol'. I will note that they produce and prepare all of their goods with quality. Case in point, the fresh blue-, black-, rasp-, and strawberries are of freshest quality. I also appreciated the extremely crisp bacon and house blueberry breakfast sausage. The roast potatoes offered a good amount of green and red bell peppers, and the muffins were definitely made from scratch, what with the nice variation on the normal baked goods. Unfortunately, their Cast Iron line of salsas could use some work, and the scrambled eggs sat pretty dense in the chafing dish. Also, I would have appreciated less mushy biscuits. All in all, this buffet sits well at $18, but I would prefer some more care taken with the variety and overall customer care. I ate at the Cast Iron 4 times in one week. No, it was not by choice, strictly a convenience thing while I was in town on meetings. The place is your run of the mill hotel restaurant. For breakfast I tried to order a latte which I was told they did not offer. I found that super odd considering there was a Starbucks 2 feet from the entrance IN the hotel. You would think they would have some sort of partnership with them to offer simple things like that to guests. I ordered grits and I am glad I had them for the first time ever, not my cup of tea, I would never have them again. Nothing against the Cast Iron, it's more of a dig to the South. I AM KIDDING. There was an elaborate buffet set up that looked great. But for what they were charging, I would have expected more chef made choices vs standard breakfast fare. I will say the bread pudding looked AMAZING. I also liked the idea of having a special set up just for kids. Any time you can keep little fingers out of my breakfast, I appreciate it. While I was there for dinner, it was fine. Again, not impressed by the service, selection, taste, or price. BUT it was fine. Listen, you are in a hotel...what do you expect? Overall, I would give the place a B. Nothing to write home about, but it did its job. read more

Before we ended up at Cast Iron, we stopped into two other restaurants for breakfast and they just wouldn't cut it--so we left and went to Cast Iron. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were welcomed and seated right away--next to the fireplace--and met the most terrific waiter, Fidel, who made the experience special. The food was delicious too. I ordered pancakes, which I suspect might have been cooked on cast iron because they were soft and crisp on the very bottom. Yum! read more

Service and decor were fine. I went for breakfast and got the brisket Benedict which sounded awesome on paper, but came up kinda meh. It was pricey, as you'd expect from a fancy hotel restaurant, but I had higher hopes for the food. The brisket was ok, the chipotle hollandaise sauce had a great spicy flavor to start, but it ended tasting very salt. However I was so dissatisfied with the quality of the food.... the fried chicken wagyu was beyond bland and too greasy, the string beans tasted like freeze burn, and the bread pudding was lacking taste as well. * This review is for Cast Iron's Sunday Brunch only If you are looking for a country club Sunday brunch, minus the private membership, then this is the place for you! I met my parents here on a warm afternoon, and were seated next to a giant fire place at a round table with comfy leather chairs. The service was very attentive, but very unobtrusive. We sat there for quite a while and never felt like we were being pushed away. There were omelette and waffle stations, but I opted out from those so that I could try the "specialties". The options were galore...although there wasn't anything that stood out to any of the four people in my party. They had a carving station with what I believe was labeled 'beef tenderloin'. The beef was fatty and difficult to cut with a knife. I also had the salmon, which was lacking in flavor. The only food that I really enjoyed was the bread pudding from the dessert table. It tasted like it was made with love (and from scratch). Oh, and even though we didn't have any kiddos with our group, they had an adorable kids buffet that was set lower to the ground. It seemed to offer plenty of options for the littles. All in all, not a bad place to go for a Sunday brunch. There are certainly many options for everyone. read more

Tried 4 different meals and all except one was served cold. The truffle chips were cold and stale. The fried chicken is extremely fatty and the waffle is soft and stale. We went here for Christmas brunch - was fantastic. Only $35 pp compared to $65 for Gaylord Texan. The spread was always refilled, they had shrimp, meats, desserts, all good. The only thing I would hesitate on the 5 star is that we didn't see our waiter until the end, and the crab was still frozen. Other than that, rest of staff was fantastic, atmosphere was quiet and cozy, and food was always plentiful. Would definitely do this again for Christmas dinner! read more

My son was graduating from high school and took him for lunch one day. It was recommended by someone and we were in love with this place! We ended up booking his graduation party there...June 2010! At first, booking it was a little difficult, but do not give up! This place is incredible. They went over and beyond for our group. We had drinks on the top with views of Fort Worth and then made our way to a semi private dining room at the Cast Iron. We got there late in the morning, so we were still there when they started putting out the lunch-type items. I'm not a big fan or pork loin, but theirs was pretty good. We went for Easter brunch. I had expected their regular brunch price if $30. Imagine my shock that the bill for three adults arrived at $230 dollars. $60 pp so that's $180 for a rather ho him buffet. Brunch buffet and not a pancake or waffle in sight! So then about $14 or something for tax. And then they added 36.00 for gratuity. For a buffet. Our server was nice but a buffet waitress shouldn't get as much as a waiter who takes an order etc. definitely not worth it. I was really disappointed. The restaurant staff were nice and friendly but not the same staffing i have found in most other Fort Worth restaurants. I wonder what they pay these people. I am upset with the Omni, not the people. We attempted to book a bridal shower party. The lack of professionalism and diligence from Jerry, the restaurant manager, and his hand off to his staff is surprisingly disappointing. Jerry recorded our date, size of party, and requests, and committed to sending several menus and a detailed contract within 48 hours. We did not receive the contract as promised, and he passed incomplete information to his assistant manager for follow up. After a week of emails with the assistant manager going back and forth to cover the items Jerry already recorded, and we still do not have a contract, we have decided that we can not rely on Cast Iron to properly host a private party. Also unfortunately, when we first tried to speak with Cast Iron, it took the seventh try for the Omni Hotel to not hang up on us when connecting our call to their Cast Iron restaurant. the cast iron was one of the restaurants show cased for restaurant week. i wanted to check it out, but not necessarily order from the prix fixed menu. i'm always on the search for texas/cowboy/southern cuisine. hubby and mom-in-law joined me for dinner on a quiet sunday evening. the restaurant is located inside the newly built omni hotel. the website said valet parking is $5 with validation from the restaurant, but we had no problem finding parking on the street. the cast iron was beautifully decorated with the mixed style of a rustic texas feel, but with modern features. there were only four other diners in the restaurant when we arrived. we were seated at a booth (there are a variety of seating options.) with a good study of the menu, i decided on the pan roasted gulf snapper, with the cheese grits, both hubby and mom-in-law go for the country fried black angus steak, with the mac and cheese. the waiter who served us was very nice, yet we did have a bit of a wait in between the drink refills. he brought over complementary samples of asparagus with crawfish, which was a tasty preview of our meal. in addition, he brought us a variety of jalapeno and cheese biscuits and bread to nibble on. my snapper was moist and the pistachio crust added an extra crunch. the size of the entree was a good size too. i did not like the cheese grits. even though it was served in the cutest cast iron cup, the flavor was herby and dry. not creamy at all. bummer. had a bite of the country fried steak, and it was tender and flavorful. i was a little jealous. the mac and cheese was super cheddar cheesy, not your gourmet adult mac and cheese like the upscale places serve. and my husband loved it. there were plenty of leftovers for hubby and mom-in-law, but my snapper was long gone. nothing on the menu really stood out for me. i get so psyched going to texas cuisine restaurants, but the cast iron won't be a place that i would rave about the food. the atmosphere is nice with the exception of the loud music that radiates from the bar down the hall, whiskey and rye. read more

There are less offerings. The bread stations are next to one another thus cross contamination is quite easy and it didn't offer butter on the gluten free side. Started off slow as it took a long time for someone to actually take my order even though there were only three tables seated. The server was really nice and brought me extra bread when asked but didn't seem to know the menu when he gave me every option for sides except the one the menu said came with what I was ordering. I had to ask if I could still get that side. It got better when the food came which was very tasty. I had the burger. Great bacon! Overall an ok experience.
