I happened to be staying at the Omni Fort Worth and came across the Cast Iron because they were advertising a Texas whisky dinner. Man, did I sure stumble into the right place. Everyone from the hostesses to the manager to the brand ambassador from the whisky supplier was super welcoming and accommodating. I was the only person alone, but still had a great time. Let's also not forget about the food - I had seared scallops, garlic potatoes, bison that was cooked right in front of me by the chef who was from the northern part of France (we had a good conversation since I've spent some time in southern Belgium and northern France), and homemade desserts and ice cream. Had Sunday Brunch here a few weeks ago. Great selection of food. The mashed potatoes were so delicious, could not believe they were on a buffet. The cheesecake was light and airy. My only complaint was that it was a little dried out on the edges. I appreciated the lack of steam stables which created a much more inviting atmosphere. My bottomless mimosa was always full. The server was really nice and brought me extra bread when asked but didn't seem to know the menu when he gave me every option for sides except the one the menu said came with what I was ordering. We stayed at the hotel for the weekend and bought the breakfast buffet package they offer. I loved how everything was decorated and the layout of the buffet. The disappointing part was the food. It just wasn't good. The hot food and the cold food was room temperature. It definitely depends on your taste but the food all had a little twist to it that I wasn't a fan of. For example, the pancakes weren't just regular pancakes but they were lemon poppy seed buckwheat pancakes and they weren't good. The service was good, no complaints there, and our stay was great. Everyone was very nice and I love that there is a full on Starbucks attached to the hotel. We would stay here again but either order straight from the menu or eat somewhere else altogether. read more

We stayed at the Omni and decided to grab some room service one night. I ordered the Texas Cheese Steak sandwich, which was sliced smoked bbq brisket served on a grilled jalapeno cheddar thick sliced toast. Wow! It was very tasty and exceeded all expectations I had for room service. It came with fries, and those were good but were something you'll forget about due to the sandwich being so delicious. Went for Father's day brunch on June 16. My whole table was delighted. Service was as good as it gets. There was a great choice of foods available and it was all great quality. We paid $29 per person for the brunch, which included bottomless Mimosas and complimentary beer. Omelet bar, meats, Prime Rib, salads, desserts were all wonderful. My wife raved over the waffles. The crab claws and shrimp on the salad bar were delicious as were the cocktail and remoulade sauces. This was my first visit but It will be my go to brunch in the future. read more

This restaurant needs to hang out a "Chef for Hire" wanted sign. We went last night for the Thanksgiving dinner. We were seated right away. the seating area was in a back room. We liked that only (3) couples could sit in this area, so no chance of children invading and ruining the peace. the tables are square and wooden. I would have liked a more weighted cutlery. The restaurant was not crowded around 6:45PM. The drinks were $11.00 each. I had a cosmo. it was meh. He had a cowboy margarita and he liked it. It was sour and yellow and he likes sour. Our waiter had absolutely no finesse. He looked and sounded like a cab driver who was just brought in off the street. It took him so long to get to our table that even the hostess came over and asked it we had been served yet, but we didn't mind b/c I don't like to be bum rushed when I first sit down. Luis looked so handsome I was enjoying watching him at the table in his black paisley vest! The (3) dish opener was:APPETIZERS BABY ICEBERG WEDGE, OVEN DRIED HEIRLOOM TOMATOES, CHIPOTLE BACON LARDOONS AND POTATO BREAD CROSTINI with Paula's goat cheese, creamy peppercorn dressing or BUTTERNUT SQUASH BISQUE EN CROUTE, golden raisin and apricot compote. The Squash Bisque was the better of the (2). I ate the remnants of Luis and it was delicious. My iceberg lettuce went on and on w/o enough dressing. The chipotle bacon lardoons were tasty of course. I had to cut the wedge of lettuce w/ my steak knife. It was too hard to get a mixture of flavor in one biteful w/ the lettuce wedge, but plentiful w/ the bisque. The bisque had a phyllo dough lining the ceramic bowl. It was too bad they didn't grease the bowl. The phyllo was a nice and different texture. ENTRÉES choice of one SLOW ROASTED TURKEY BREAST, old fashioned corn bread dressing, giblet gravy and orange cranberry compote-We chose this one. Pieces of the turkey were not dry, but hard. It was not prepared w/ respect to the customer's palate. There was not enough cranberry on the plate. The dressing was a real disappointment. I don't think any cornbread was in it. I made a reservation here for Valentine's Day. When we arrived, I noticed that the restaurant doesn't have any atmosphere. It all felt very cheap, if that makes sense. I was disappointed to find a prix fixe menu. Every option had sea food. If I would have known that, I wouldn't have made the reservation. Overall the food was pretty good. My favorite option was actually the cauliflower and crab soup. We both ordered the steak option. It was underwhelming. The steak was very thin. They also didn't give us a steak knife to fix it with so we had to use a butter knife. We ended our meal with dessert. A tart and a chocolate dessert. I didn't care for either. My wife thought the tart was ok. The service was alright. We had to continuously ask for refills. That would normally be ok, except a 20% service charge was added without being asked. I would have expected this for a bigger party, but there was only 2 of us. That left a bad taste in my mouth. I was planning on tipping around that amount anyway, but don't force it. However the food was cold and the sweet potatoes were not cooked. They were pretty hard. The steak and sauce were great. Garlic spinach was nicely seasoned. I would have given it four stars if the food was hot. Service was off. In the beginning, the waiter came over a lot, even asking about dessert before we finished eating. Then he took a long time to bring my friends dessert (there were only 6 customers in the restaurant). We happened to visit during a huge event and the menu was reduced to a buffet and the bar menu from Whiskey Rye. The food itself wasn't bad at all, I had the fish tacos and I thought they were good as fish tacos go and the sauce was nicely mild. Many of my dining companions ordered the skirt steak and gave it rave reviews. The dessert was a phenomenal custard and I think the food itself warrants a test visit. My real issue with this restaurant, and the reason I will never go back, is purely in the service. There were 14 of us, a large table for anyone to handle, but you would think with a hotel like the Omni that sports three restaurants that they would have this process down. First off, we were presented with two menus for our table and no drink menu. These were 14 adults very willing to spend a large sum of money on alcohol and instead we rushed through our drink orders just to get something on the table. The waiter made it halfway around the table and when he came to someone that was scrambling to pick a drink, he wandered off to give him some time, but then had to be hunted down again just to finish our orders. When the drinks came out, a completely different member of the wait staff was delivering and didn't know one wine serving from the other much less who they belonged to. At this point we'd be there for over an hour already and hadn't gotten the chance to order our food. A rather friendly gentleman came by with bread and a joke, livening up the mood and inspiring some hope for our dining experience. We eventually ordered, the food came out with some mistakes, but the manager compensated us dessert for our troubles and we largely decided to just deal with the poor service. The check was an entirely different matter and it took another twenty minutes just to get it split correctly. The worst part for me, and this is a personal peeve, is when the waiter walked around to grab all of the credit card receipts and visibly scrutinized what was written on them. I have never had this happen before and it makes me extremely uncomfortable. I wish I could solely rate the service as a one and the food quite high, but I think the two stars characterizes how I felt about most of the night. read more

WOW!!! I'm so glad my whole family decided to try this place out with me. Overall the prices are reasonable. From the first minute we step in the restaurant to the second we were out we were welcomed and appreciated. Everyone was delightful and our server Natalie was beyond amazing. She answered all our questions and when our 16oz strip loin steak was undercooked she was very apologetic and after it was fixed it was fantastic along with their sides. We were there for dinner and even though it was a party of 10 were seated immediately. The Double Play BBQ Texas Beef Burger was a hit with everyone along with the Chipotle Chicken Chowder. We thought they wouldn't be kid friendly, but we were completely wrong as they were totally ready for kids. Their kids menu was awesome and all the kids had a blast and loved the food as well. Going on the website does it no justice because we went in there thinking their selection was small, but was completely wrong about their food. Horrible food. I am not a food critic and not one to complain, but after this meal I have to share the experience. My wife and I were staying at the Omni for some R&R. Now we just hope we dont get sick. The fried pickles came out cold and soggy. We asked if they were made to order and we were told yes. They took them back and brought out a new batch that were fresh and crunchy. I ordered the chicked fried steak and mashed potatoes. It was extremely over cooked. Not just that but the meat tasted very strange. I thought it was just seasoning and was willing to eat it until I looked closer and realized the meat was on the verge of being spoiled. I left it uneaten. My wife had a club sandwich with sweet potatoe fries. Her fries tasted like they were made the day before and were cold. The sandwich was bland and not appetizing at all. At the end of the meal both of us had an upset stomach that led to nausea. The staff was accommodating and comped the meal and everyone at the hotel is great. We are not looking for anything free. This review is to raise awareness of food quality. I would still recommend the Omni as the hotel has a lot to do and has a great staff. read more

My wife and I were traveling and we wanted to order to go because she is pregnant and didn't feel very good. We called and were initially hung up on 3 times. After frustration I walked down to order in person. There were about 4 people in the restaurant so no excuses for the rude phone hang ups without even answering. When I walked in the manager was at the desk and pretended to ignore me. So I just stood there waiting patiently. Finally she decides to acknowledge me and was by far the most pretentious person I've dealt with. Her attitude was childish and if i was the owner I would remove her permanently. She knew exactly what she was doing. I'm so sick of these people thinking they are above you. What a miserable woman. I strongly strongly urge anyone to save their money and walk down the street to the endless choices two blocks away. You will be treated with much greater respect and like a paying customer. I'm from Fort Worth and pretty familiar with all of the other choices on the South end of downtown and there are some pretty good ones. During a recent stay at the Omni I decided to try the Cast Iron which is located inside the Omni. The decor is southwestern and looks great. Our waiter was promptly had our drinks and some warm bread (jalapeno cheese bread was outstanding). We each got a bowl of the chicken/corn chowder soup and split a ceasar salad and a brisket sandwich. For desert we had coffee and bread pudding. Our waiter was what you wish for-his timing was excellent and he was attentive without being bothersome. I can't remember when I had this kind of service in a Fort Worth restaurant. Now the food: the chicken corn chowder was creamy with a bit of spice to it. The Ceasar Salad (which we split) was huge and it was a "Southwest" Ceasar and had some corn and some red pepper spice-not hot, but a nice addition. The lettuce was crisp and there was just the right amount of dressing-worked well for TWO people. The brisket/cheese sandwich featured thinly sliced smoked brisket with a tangy and mild BBQ sauce. It had parmesean cheese that was melted-the bread was french and the sandwich was baked or toasted. This BBQ sandwich was better than most of the downtown BBQ places. I'm usually not a desert eater, but the waiter suggested their bread pudding and we were not disappointed; perfect size to share. It was baked in a bowl and had chocolate drizzled on top; a small side of cream sauce was also provided. The pricing, although not inexpensive, is a bargain for the quality of food and level of service. This is a great place to eat if you are at the Omni. read more
