A plumber (Jose) came by to help my front neighbor with a leak and determined it was on my line (I live in a back house). When I spoke to him, I asked him to show me how he made that determination so I can notify who I need to notify. Instead of showing me, he told me how long he has been doing this and that he just knows. I insisted on the proof, so we went to the water meter and there was no marking as to which meter was to which house. He said it was from my house and he wasn't guessing and just knew, but I pressed so I could see the evidence. When he ran water and I could see which line was running more in the meter, then I was satisfied as I have to report any incidents to a co-owner. This took 20 minutes (which could have been done in 5). Then I asked if he was licensed and bonded and he became instantly, immediately defensive, saying, no, then yes, then saying he was licensed several times over. The truck has no license or bonded numbers or claims of such on its markings. This question, for some reason, made him very, very agitated. I tried to tell him that I needed to notify the co-owners so that they knew what was going on and they need to know this information. That bothered him even more. Finally, when I asked him what the charge was, he refused to tell me, saying he needed to call it in. So, I then said, "ok, so so because we'd like to cover half of it." He followed with that he'll only tell her (and never made an afford to call in anything). I said ok but don't overcharge her because she is an older woman and just wants the job done, not knowing how much things cost. When I said that, he got really really defensive, angry and then walked off, refusing to do the work. An easy job that Castanetta's 24/7 plumbing is out the money on because their employee cannot conduct himself professionally. If this is the kind of unprofessional conduct you can expect from these guys, you can probably expect other issues. First time my neighbor called them and likely the last time. I'll be making a complaint with the state licensing oversight as well for failing to produce evidence of licensing and bonding when requested. If they are as good as their Yelp review, I saw absolutely no evidence of this from this employee. Response Edit: As you can see, Jose fails to make any denial of me challenging a common tactic that plumbers make when they have elderly clients, fails to deny anything and makes defamatory statements calling me "racits". We take defamatory comments very seriously and will be responding. I'll amend my complaint to the state to add-in this comment. He's been in business 2 years and his license expires in July. read more

Scheduled Service Date (10OCT24): My wife called on 09OCT24 and received a quote for hydrojetting the main sewer line. I also got a separate yelp estimate from the same business describing the job details (treeroots in main sewer line, within 100 ft of the street, access point in front yard, etc) and was quoted the same price. Technician came out and said the job was double the initial quote. We couldn't settle on the final price and ended the transaction. I later received a call from the owner (Jose) and he apologized for the price discrepancy. He pointed to miscommunication between the office and technician for the error. Jose held himself and his team accountable for the error and offered to make this right by personally coming and hydrojetting my sewer line at significantly less than the initial quote. Jose was meticulous in his work and made sure that every last root was removed from sewer line. He was transparent and debriefed me on the progress every step of the way.
