Hours say 6am-6pm and I walked there from my house around 1pm and they were closed cause they were "sold out". Yeah no, more like too lazy to make more donuts or have enough made for the entire day. If you're a donut lover, Casual Fridays should definitely be on your short list. Their take on donuts is unique, especially apropos size; donuts are massive and eat like a meal. The inside of the store is also very clean, modern, and refreshingly pleasant for a donut shop. Also, if you can manage to get there early enough, the cream filled donuts are worth a special trip. However, after going here maybe 6-8 times over the past year I've finally settled on three stars. That is, if I'm in the mood and in the neighborhood, it's worth a pop-off. Otherwise I've discovered Mike's as my "go-to" donut shop for consistent quality. The reasons are these: Out of perhaps 8 maximum visits, there's been two times (20%!) when something went wrong in a fairly big way. Once, I asked for a cream filled and when I got home it simply wasn't. Sad! Another time, an apple fritter was uncooked dough in the center. As I've said, the filled donuts are where it's at but they always run out of these early in the morning (on weekends at least). Also, the cake donuts are excellent, well-balanced and light. The regular yeast donuts are huge, but not outstanding otherwise. In fact, the icing to bread ratio is way off in favor of icing, so it's gobs and gobs of teeth-aching sugar to the relatively paltry bread. All in all we're probably closer to four stars here excepting the relatively high rate of failure and cost so I'm erring on the side of caution. But don't take my word for it! I've been before and it's been good quality donuts, but today the donuts were gooey and half baked. The cake donuts were pretty close to being cooked properly, but the maple bar was so undercooked that the person who ate it thought it was filled with something. So disappointed. I live a strict Keto diet and when I cheat I like apple fritters... so to treat myself I tried two "differentL apple fritters. One was regular and the other blueberry cheesecake or something fancy and delicious sounding.... however both tasted exactly the same... stale, dried out and bland. Large donuts, so big you may only need one! I have stopped by Casual Friday Donuts several times to get a hold on their donuts. Most notable is that they have some rather large donuts! I am typically a two donut person. When I got two donuts, I was pretty full and saved some for later! They have a vegan donut, it was my first one. I thought it was good and had some nice decorative frosting! I tried the apple fritter. It was not my favorite apple fritter. It did not have the crispyness I usually associate with apple fritters and there were no apple chunks. My favorite one so far was their cream filled donut. As far as I am concerned, I just paid like a 20% tip due to the fact that one donut was $3. For those looking for a good donut I recommend a grocery store close by called "My Fresh Basket". Very good fresh donuts and they are 75 cents so you can get about 4 for the price of 1 from Casual Frys. MFB is also in a much better area than gross Division. The doughnuts are delicious and tasted pretty fresh even at 2 pm. I'm only giving 4 stars though because their hours are NOT accurate. I'm not sure if they close when they sell a certain amount for the day or if the hours posted online need to be updated, but I went at least 4 different times (all when their yelp and google said they were open) and they were closed. I even went on National Doughnut Day 2019 and saw at least 3 other cars pull into the parking lot and attempt to purchase their delicious sugar cakes but were all sadly disappointed. Love the set up of the donuts in this shop. The donuts are huge and.... well, unfortunately not my favorite donuts :( Crunchy frosting means more sugar and less buttery goodness that makes frosting amaze...... I'm always on the search for creamy fluffy inside, with a slight crunch on the outside maple bars. These definitely do not rate. The whole donut, frosting and all, is way to dark, clumpy, and sugary. We made a late morning run to grab donuts for outlet Littles, and the selection was smaller because of the time of day. Our youngest son has Aspergers and only eats plain chocolate bars, because they were out Audrey offered to dip our son a donut if we didn't mind it needing to dry. Donuts tasted a bit old (maybe even day old) and were way wayyy over priced, especially for the quality. I came in around 8-830am and was surprised that the maple bars maple topping was crusted and flakey and just tasted like a day old donut. Not saying it wasn't baked that morning, but rather it tasted like a day old. Then i tried the salted caramel and it just honeslty tasted like a cheap walmart donut. The bread isnt bad, i think its just the toppings that have an issue maybe. You're wayyyyy better off getting 2 or 3 fresh maple bars from Rosuars on Spargue(.80 cents) for the same price or from ScrumDiddlyUmptious. Lower your price or improve your recipe would be my guess.
