I went today with my family and had Jeff as our server. He was very attentive to us. I had the mahi mahi , my dad had the fried catfish and mom had grilled shrimp even though they were short on kitchen staff they didn't skimp on quality. My fish was so tender and seasoned well. Due to COVID they are only open for a couple of hours which is awful for the servers. Go show your support and have dinner with these guys! read more

Place was dead. I knew I was in for a mediocre experience when the frozen pre-fabbed hush puppies were the first thing to hit the table. Over priced, over cooked and when your chicken strips look like hot wings it's a pretty good indicator that skimping on food to keep the profits up is the way that this place operates. Psst. Catfish & Company is located in Hurst off of Airport Fwy. Right now, it's a PITA to get to because of construction. It's next to Black Eye Pea and the new Abuelos location. They start you off with hush puppies that aren't your normal round hush puppies. We come for the catfish. They have AYCE catfish for around $14. Either cajun or normal fried. They also have the whole fried catfish. Their catfish is decent. Along with their grilled fish. I've had the tilapia and catfish. My biggest complaint about this place is the seating. I am short. 5 ft even. When I sit in the booth seat, I have to lean over to eat. The table is at my waist practically when normally it's at my chest. It's uncomfortable and awkward. Yes, I can sit at a regular table, but those chairs are no better. You can tell most of the customers are elderly and that is who they cater too. That's great and perfectly fine. Nothing is wrong with that at all. The seats though. It makes a short shrimp like me feel like the jolly green giant. The seating won't stop me from coming. My grandma loves to come and I get to feel tall for 45 minutes. read more

First of all there four of us and we got out food 10 minutes after we ordered. There is no way it was fresh cooked food. It was all frozen food warmed in a microwave. This is a great place to eat. We like that we can sit at the bar and enjoy a smoke with a drink if we're not in the mind for dinner yet. We've even eaten at the bar as well. Through the years I've tried just about everything on the menu. If you join their email club they'll send you a coupon every month for a discount. That comes in handy! Seafood is my favorite, generally speaking. It's very hard to find a regular seafood joint with great food in my opinion. This place is pretty good. I have had their snow crab and it's my favorite. The salads are fresh and they make their dressings in house. The baked potatoes are good, too. Now, this is no fancy seafood place, but really, if you are having a hankering for some simple seafood, it works. Tonight I had fried seafood for some reason, and it was good. Stopped by this cute restaurant for an early lunch and sat at the bar. Service was a little slow at the start but I think that was because they had just opened. I don't even like hush puppies but these were so unique, I ate them all. The side salad was plentiful, probably enough for two to share. I ordered the catfish & oyster lunch special with a side of green beans. It is worth the upcharge to get cajun catfish, the breading has just the right amount of spice. They oysters are medium-sized and fresh, not overdone. All in all, this is a very nice restaurant. The AYCE catfish is a good deal. Oh.........I saved the best for last. They have green tomato relish- yummy delicious green tomato relish. I bought a jar to take home but regret not buying two. In the mid-90's, there was an initiative to dam the Paluxy river out around Glen Rose. The group fighting the damming of the river would hold fish frys in order to fund the legal war chest. So once a month during the summer, my family would all go out to show our support. In the shade of hundred-year-old oaks, delicately fried, cornmeal-coated pale-gold fillets would grace our humble portable plastic picnic table, partnered with coleslaw, fried okra, and french fries. Nothing can compare, it's the best catfish I've ever eaten. With the battle won, the fish frys stopped, and we were left with no place to indulge in this southern staple. We tried a number of restaurants, and community church and volunteer fire department fish frys, but the fare was sub-par and the atmosphere simply couldn't compete with what we had grown accustomed to. Then we found Catfish & Company. It's been countless years since then, but we've never looked back. We've celebrated birthdays, marked occasions, and enjoyed slow moving afternoons here and look forward to continuing to. The beer is always cold, the food is always delicious, and the service always friendly and helpful. It might not beat the of fish frys on the Paluxy (as truthfully, no place could compete with those nostalgia-laden childhood memories), but Catfish & Company is certainly the best durn catfish restaurant I've ever been to. read more

This is a bittersweet review because my family and I have been coming here since the late 90's. I celebrated the graduation of my doctoral degree here because of fond memories so it was only right that we celebrated my brother's 40th birthday dinner here. Prior to reserving the room to accommodate guests, my sister in law asked if a saxophonist would be allowed, the answer was yes. Towards the end, the manager walked in and said the music was too loud, but why wait until the end? We would have stopped if that was the case. Her tone upset my brother as she walked out, her sarcasm spoke beyond words as she gave praises to the waitress. The waitress was great, she worked by herself but the frustration in her tone wasn't appreciated when she told a guest, at 8:30, he couldn't order food. My brother, the honoree, was disappointed and it charged his mood. These arrangements were made prior to the date, if accommodations could not be met, that would have been fine, we would have taken our business somewhere else. We chose this place because of the memories my family has shared here. I am disappointed that after years of dinners, birthday and graduation celebrations this is how it ends. read more

This restaurant was just a stop we made on the way home. The atmosphere was very casual and laid back. The menu was on average $20 a plate. I ordered the combo plate of catfish and stuffed shrimp. I think the stuffed shrimp was one of the most delicious seafood items I ever had, but everything else was just mediocre. The waitress we had was very nice but everyone else working was on their cell phone. The bathrooms also were not very clean. I would say I wont be back here just for stuffed shrimp, but it never hurts to try a new place. read more

Last minute call to try this place out! I enjoyed the food and the complimentary stick hushpuppies were different. The waitress was very nice and helpful making suggestions since it was my first time to the location. I had to try the catfish since it was in the title of the restaurant. The Cajun catfish was not spicy and I needed some hot sauce to spice it up. Not the best catfish I have had but if you are in the area it's worth a try! Restaurant was clean and had nice decorations. I must have had the same waitress as Julio in the review below! My wife ordered and after she was done I told the waitress she can just make it two of the same order. The waitress sighed heavily and said "you need to wait just a second sir, I'm still writing". Apparently she cannot do two things at once and is also not capable of being polite to paying customers. I almost walked out, now I wish I would have. Never came back to fill our water glasses. Threw the check on the table. Her tip reflected the poor service. No blacking season used just charred, sauce was premade from container bad texture and shrimp were poor quality frozen. Fried green tomatoes were frozen not homemade. Over priced for quality of food. Meh, best describes my experience here. Nothing was truly terrible but it was very underwhelming. The tomato relish was too sweet as was the tartar sauce. The Cajun catfish had a nice mild spice to it but was under salted and over cooked. The stars in this review were not earned by the food, it was earned by the waitress we had. I like the huge cups the drinks come in, and I even ordered dessert. Key lime pie=delicious! First of all, let me say, I love catfish. This is hands-down the best catfish i've ever had. Portions are huge, it's cooked to perfection, and tastes amazing. The tarter sauce is excellent as well. Under normal circumstances I love this place. But I wasn't feeling like eating alone so I ordered the butterfly shrimp dinner to go. Big mistake! I live about 6 minutes and picked my food right out of the kitchen. Everything was soggy by the time I got it home. The shrimp had no flavor at all. The only gave me 4 hush puppies. We've always liked this place, the catfish is some of the best in the area. I asked after reading one of the other reviews, and was told that the fish and the shrimp are brought in fresh daily every morning. My wife and I both had combo meals with catfish and clams, with 2 sides. She opted for Cole slaw and baked potato, while I chose Cole slaw and green tomato relish. The catfish fillets were crispy spears of cornmeal crusted lusciousness, the clams were as good as the originals I grew up with (Howard Johnson's) . The sides were good but just the usual fare.
