I'm surprised I had never come here before. A few of us decided to come for a friend's birthday. We sat at the bar and took advantage of their happy hour specials, which had some good options. First off, Tig was our bartender and he was AMAZING! He was attentive, great at making our drinks, and had such a fun personality. I ordered the passionfruit margarita which was delicious. I personally love anything passionfruit and it was just the right about of sweetness. We ordered a variety of things to share- hush puppies, crazy feta, falafel, mini gyros, and chicken sliders. Everything tasted delicious. I came back with my husband a few weeks afterwards and also had a pretty great experience. Most of the staff that work there are very pleasant and I enjoy the bar vibe. Been coming here for years. Decided to get carry out for a quick bite. Bought the Saganáki- which is like the breaded Greek flaming cheese. Only to be told- it doesn't come with bread anymore- like what? What are you suppose to eat it on? Bear in mind, it always came with a clear oyster container of Pita. So, for about $17 you get 2 triangles of cheese, and nothing to eat it on? C'mon! You can buy a bag of pita , for like $1.69 Is this really where you want to cut corners? Do you even consider what you're offering and how customers are supposed to enjoy it ? This is not going in a good direction. read more

If tapas is your thing, then Cava Mezze is the place for you. I guess it should be noted that this place is NOT to be confused with Cava Grill which is totally different (good...but different). Cava Mezze is a small plate, sit down, table service restaurant. The bottom line on Cava Mezze is that there is not (to my knowledge) a single thing on this menu that isn't excellent. Great flavor profiles with intricate balanced seasoning. Definite go-tos are the Saganaki, spicy lamb sliders (they *are* spicy), and chicken souvlaki. A good option is to go with the "Chef D Platter;" it's a great combination of dishes. Be aware though, that this place is not cheap and it is very easy for the bill to creep up on you. So sock away some cash and surprise that someone special in your life with a great meal at Cava Mezze. You won't be disappointed. read more

Cute decor, great food. Love the mint cocktail. The brussel sprouts and calamari are super good. The shrimp and scallops are tasty also, as well as the falafel. It's clean and reservations are easy on open table. This restaurant brand has phenomenal service. I have been to other establishments under the same umbrella and have noticed that they always have outstanding service. I will be back to try more! read more

It was delicious the next day. I did not get any pictures, but the food was awesome even the next day microwaved. I love that they partnered with the Olney Theater and had my order waiting upon my arrival. Unfortunately, I was not hungry and decided to save for later. I microwaved the rice gyro meat, and pita. I did not expect to enjoy the rice, but was AMAZING!! Nothing special but the taste left me waiting more. The meat was perfect and portion and texture. The pita which is typically my favorite was outshined by the rice and the meat. I did not eat the salad, but it looked great too! My husband and I came out on a Saturday night. It was our first time here and we were underwhelmed. The seating is extremely casual for such pricey food. Everything is ala carte. We sat down and it was 5 minutes before our waitress came. Another 10 before the drinks came. The food is brought out as it is ready. We shared everything we ordered, but if you order your own meals, your food would be cold while waiting for your company to get theirs. We got the beet salad, which is really 3 large, cold beets. It comes with micro greens. We were expecting baby spinach and such but it was truly centimeter length leaves stuck to the beets. It surely wasn't a salad. The falafel and the calamari were good. We also got lamb chops, rare, and they were tasty. The baklava was terrible. It was burnt and not warm. We get better baklava at a Saudi kabab carry-out near the house. read more

Best brunch I've had in awhile! For $35 you can get an assortment of small plates and the option to order either 25 cent or $2 mimosas. Can't beat those prices - and they also serve brunch til 4 pm! Perfect timing for all of us late risers. The wait staff were super attentive! We got to put orders in quite a few times within the hour we were there. Everything tasted pretty good. I personally really enjoyed the breakfast salmon, chicken and waffles (bomb crispy chicken texture and fluffy waffles- mmm), steak and eggs and the chick pea hash, which came with a slightly sweet but zesty sauce that truly made the dish. The Nutella waffle was also pretty delicious but quite decadent. I wish the shrimp and grits had a little more flavor. The brussel sprout Benedict dish also had some bitter notes. A good Cava experience takes a good waiter and we lucked out. She was on it, she recognized there were a few large parties nearby, so she told us to put in lots of food orders and she'd help stagger the food. She also kept the mimosas coming. I also appreciate how flexible they are with mini adjustments to the plates. For example, I request no whipped cream, just granola-no yogurt-and my brussel sprouts without an egg-they barely bat an eye and bam delicious custom plate. Always on point, served hot, with flavor, and me begging for larger portions. I don't like to share when I am here -Drinks are freshly made with various choices -Great ambiance for a brunch (weekends only) date with the girls, lunch with a co-worker, or date night. -Large bar area and seating -Reservations are recommended during the evening or the wait will be a tad bit long -Offers outdoor seating in front of the restaurant/parking lot -Clean bathrooms -Staff is well trained and friendly. Our server could tell us everything and anything on that menu -Complimentary pita bread is served warm and soft with olive oil and a spicy red paste.. that dip is no joke on spice! It's so good. The tzatziki dip is my favorite, not too creamy, and light -First time I've ever had grilled octopus. OMG.. the octopus was not chewy and cooked perfectly. The flavor of the split pea puree (which I didn't think I would like) paired nicely with it. The peas didn't have a strong taste and almost tasted like a creamy mashed potato. -Spicy lamb slides were cooked medium and so juicy. I had a met a friend at Cava Olney yesterday for lunch. I love Cava but she is local but had never eaten there. They invited us to sit at a hightop on the bar side by the front window, which would have been nice too, but we chose a table. They have a nice lunch mezze menu option where you can choose a starter and a main for $12, and add a spread for another $3. They brought out pita and oil right away. We enjoyed falafel and zucchini fritters to start, and then meatballs and chicken souvlaki for our mains. We also ordered the hummus and a feta spread. It was a LOT of food for a total of only about $30. The noise level is vibrant at lunch. I would definitely return. read more

Literally my go to spot for food when im going out with my girls for a special event, or taking a friend out from out of town. This place is a GEM, and always has been since forever. Whenever i'm taking someone not from here out or a nice dinner, we always go here because we know they will treat us all right, the waitresses are patient as f***, and clearly they love what they do! We got nearly everything on the dinner menu, we shared plates, and as usual, literally everything was delicous. Especially the street corn, brussels sprouts, and octopus We stayed from the time they opened until close, and we never felt rushed or like we were a inconvenience. Went to Cava Mezze in Olney with friends after work. I can't believe this place is five minutes away from my house, yet this was my first time eating there. Let me just say I'm so glad I went. We ordered the dip tasting, roasted cauliflower, saganaki, fried calamari, crispy chicken sliders, mini gyros and, of course, drinks. We are a pretty particular crowd so, trust me, this review is beyond honest. The dip tasting was interesting. It consisted of crazy feta, tzatziki, hummus, eggplant and grilled pita. It was decent. I mean, the tzatziki was really good. I bet it's excellent on their souvlaki. The crazy feta is a winner and the hummus was... hummus, so it was cool. I didn't try the eggplant, so I can't speak to that. The roasted cauliflower certainly surprised me! The mix of the goat cheese and the spice level made it a true winner. I would certainly order it again. If you are on the fence about cauliflower because it is bland and uneventful, this one is certainly worth trying. It may just change your mind. Spicy cauliflower is a good bite. The saganaki is cheese that is flambéed at your table. I believe there is also lemon added to it. If you like fried cheese, it is great. Who doesn't like fried cheese? The presentation tableside is pretty cool, too. I don't eat calamari but my friends crushed it. They almost fell out about it. Lol The mini gyros were tasty. They had tomato, onion and that wonderful tzatziki sauce. There were also fries in the gyros. Talk about a meal in one. Let's talk about the crispy chicken sliders. With all of the tasty options, to be honest, chicken sliders were definitely NOT my first choice. Ha! I slept on the crispy chicken sliders but let me just say that they were a welcomed surprise! First of all, I get it, sliders are itty bitty little sandwiches. Don't sleep. This slider is substantive. The chicken is nice and crispy. It is served on a brioche bun with fresno peppers, Greek mayo, cabbage/apple slaw and hot honey. I had to cut the freakin' slider in half to eat it in order to still display good table manners. Trust me... crispy chicken sliders for the WIN. Cava Mezze in Olney is quaint but really nice. I will be back. read more

Food: 4/5 - I'm trying to expand my taste buds and this was definitely a hit. They have free pita as an appetizer with free refills too!I tried the grilled meatballs and the short ribs. The grilled meatballs were mini meat patties that came with a side of chopped tomatoes and mini pita. It was very delicious, although the grilled meatballs were too salty. The meat inside was pretty rare as well. The short ribs were shredded pork on top of fries and feta cheese. All of their dishes are pretty small, so if you have a big appetite... you may want two dishes! Service: 5/5 - Our waitress was amazing. She explained the whole menu to us and answered every question we had. She always made sure there was enough pita out or enough water in our cups. We made sure she got a high tip! She deserved it. 200th Review! This place was always on my list of places to try because I know it is a chain but never got around to it. It is a tapas styled place with smaller dishes so unless you are coming for the bottomless brunch, do not come here looking to stuff your face. It may be costly! First the decor: it was pleasant, but nothing unique. It appears to be a clean, modern, chic type of place that appears to be the norm these days. I could not really pinpoint a distinguishable theme that would really set them apart from others, but it is nice for sure. The downside to the layout of this place was the fact that we were seated in a weird place. It was a two-person table, one person at the booth and the other side is on a regular chair. However, the chair is against a vertical beam. It was weird where the seat and the table had to be close and I could not pull the chair back enough to comfortably get up. I did trip here at one point, which was definitely not something I wanted to do in front of company. Second is the food: it was good and bad. The good part was that the seafood was cooked well and the salad was nice. The bad part was the inconsistency. I ordered the Mezze Mania so I could choose three dishes: the arugula salad, the mushroom, and the shrimp. The arugula salad was nice and it was a good balance between sweet and flavorful. It was not overpowering, so it definitely did well for a starter. The mushroom destroyed my palate. It was way too salty. Like really salty. I was forced to eat the pita bread just to counter the salt in this dish. I would really not order the mushroom again. The shrimp was the protein and the main event. However, the issue here was that the seasoning and the flavor were non-existent. I could barely taste the shrimp and whatever was underneath was bland as well. I could not even taste what was underneath the shrimp to know what I was eating. Not a really good ending to my meal. My wife ordered the scallop risotto, which was nice. It was flavorful and the taste of the scallop was apparent. It was cooked well, and not tough. The scallop ended up being soft and easy to bite. The execution on this one was worth the $18 that was being charged for this dish. It was a hit or miss for me at this place. Althoght some dishes worked, some did not. When it did not work, it really went bad. I think the next time I will attempt to come here would be the endless brunch. Not really going to look forward to coming here for any other reason. read more
