I've been recommended to come here for brunch from some friends and finally made it in on a Saturday with my husband. We immediately ordered mimosas, orange and blood orange, which were our second options as they were out of the pear one, but regardless they were solid mimosas! Food wise, we ordered the honey biscuits to start which were my favorite part of the entire meal. The honey butter was so good - I would highly recommend starting off with these. Next we got the chicken and waffles, french toast, pork belly and eggs, and the frittata. We thoroughly enjoyed each selection, and since they are smaller plates we decided to order 2 more since we were still hungry. We decided on the gyro hash brown and home fries, both of which were amazing! All in all, this was a great experience from the food to the service. This would definitely be a place I would recommend for groups looking for a place to brunch! If you come hungry, I'd recommend doing the all you can eat for $35 (mimosas are then $0.25) - everyone in your party must do it or you have to do A La Carte. Amazing night at Cava Mezze.. The weather was beautiful so our party 7 ate outside. It's in a strip mall but the inside is beautifully done and the outside seating is so comfortable you don't mind. I understand that's fairly standard by modern standards, but it made it taxing to try to have a normal conversation. That aside, the food was awesome. Went tonight and was very disappointed in our waiter and manager. Loved the outdoors and heaters are there when it gets cold. But when our waiter came to bring water he did not have gloves on. He's going in and out doors and handling food. Not good. I asked him to please put on gloves. After waiting ten minutes for our drinks, all of the sudden we had a new waiter. Asked why and she said he was busy. Hmmm A few minutes later we see the same guy still without gloves waiting on the next table!!! That to me was even more important and was very disappointed. We stayed for dinner which just ok and as usual pretty expensive for the portion size. After dinner I did tell the manger who was surprised and while he apologized this needs to be addressed. Next time we saw him he was wearing gloves. But to ignore my request and move on to others was very disappointing. read more

Our group of 6 came for brunch last Saturday and requested outdoor seating in our reservation. The staff set up our table with heat lamps and smaller propane heaters around us, it was great! This was a chillier morning too so the heat lamps were a game changer. They were also setting up little tent pods for a table of 2-4 people. The brunch menu has changed slightly from their previous all you can eat small plates so check it out online if you're planning to go for brunch. Basically it's $35 for 3 options you get to pick from 3 different selections and the portions are bigger. The food is on point!! Everything came out to us fresh and hot out of the kitchen. Given that we were seated outside and the wait staff having to walk further, I thought that they did a great job getting the food to us fresh. Some of the things we ordered: village frittata, gyro hash, chicken and waffles, crazy feta hush puppies, banana fritters, mykonian potatoes. Everything was really good in my opinion and portions were perfect if you were sharing with a friend. You should each select different items so you can try more things. I loooooovvvve this Cava Mezze! For lunch Mezze Mania (lunch deal) is a great deal! We had two tapas for 12 dollars! I was afraid that the portions would be smaller, but they weren't! Lollipop chicken is my favorite. Saganaki (cheese on FIRE) is also such a favorite ($13). Sometimes they don't let the brandy burn enough and you taste the alcohol. If that is the case let them know and they will get you a new one! That's one of my favorite perks about this place, their service is great. You get free pita and a hot spread once you order, and then food comes fairly quickly. The veggies tend to come faster than the proteins which makes sense. You never get too thirsty because the water bottle is on the table. I just think this is probably the best tapas you will find, with consistent quality. read more

Are you looking for a great happy hour? This is the place! A few of us met at the bar and our bartenders were spot on for service. Sam and Marvin great job! They have really good Cocktails and small plates for hh. The restaurant is modern and all the servers are friendly which I was impressed. It wasn't overly crowded too a plus. I had the harissa with pita and jalapeño hummus. The hummus was perfectly balanced and not too spicy. Lamb slider looked delicious! I had the Opa shrimp and it was perfectly cooked with about 6 shrimps and a cream sauce. The sauce was excellent. I had the octopus too. Was tender and well seasoned. Overall a great, delicious Combination of tapas. I saw a great deal of sangria being poured, will be my next time drink! yessssss for this place!!! Came here for a quick dinner but I had a ball. The food was so good and I couldn't stop eating that pita bread and olive oil!! It was liquid crack!! Those mini gyros????? Babyyyyy let me tell you they made my whole day! They had a yummy French fry in each one that gave a unique kick to it that made it delicious. I typically feel like a beach baby walrus when I eat a whole serving of gyros, but these made me feel satisfied but not stuffed. It's not a typical whole gyro, it's three smaller parts. I would give it four stars if the prices were a little lower. I think $12 for the mini gyros was a little expensive. A lot of the entrees were $12-$18. But the portions were decent so I guess can't complain too much. I'm excited to return and try more dishes. read more

First, the food is amazing!!! NO CAP. Our server Eli (guy with dreads) did as best as he could in regards to the circumstances of the shitty, delayed kitchen crew members and bust boys. Manager (manager is guy with the suave hair and suit-ish outfit on) knew we were having issues and WALKED PAST our table numerous times and said not a thing. The biscuits that came with the brunch special NEVER came and our server mentioned them to the kitchen numerous times (I watched him). We got them at the end though so it counted for sure. Celebrated our 38th anniversary last night and had dinner at Cava in Olney. We walked in on Thursday night the place was packed, but we got the only open table. Our server Eva was great....was very attentive, and told us to order as the evening progressed, versus ordering a lot at once. The grilled shrimp with split-pea puree, and calamari, were outstanding, and the French Toast desert was to die for. The manager, Gus, was amazing! He engaged us in conversation, helped serve our food and cleared dishes. He even explained how to make the split-pea puree that came with the shrimp. Haven't been to brunch here since the pandemic started. Their new menu is still a lot of food to enjoy and has plenty of their staples for brunch at a larger portion! If you're in a group these are all very shareable portions to get and try more variety. Everything was awesome, and food came out super fast. Mimosas kept following the whole time. The service was a bit slow but I don't blame our server, he did the best he could as I could see he had a big section and not much help. I've been to the fast casual Cava more times than I care to admit so I was excited to try Cava Mezze in Olney. I came for the bottomless brunch (my first bottomless brunch experience) and I was definitely happy about the volume of food! In terms of the food itself, I can't say that it was mindblowingly delicious, but there were some decently yummy menu items. So first the bad, mediocre and then good: Bad: at first when the food came out it was hot, but then later on a lot of the food was lukewarm/cold.. gross... The lamb Benedict wasn't good. The lamb was burnt. The smothered honey biscuit... the biscuit was way to hard and chewy (not sure how one manages to accomplish that.... as it seems oxymoronic but it's true friends. Hard, cold and chewy)... The smothered biscuits tasted mushy and unappetizing Mediocre: the chicken and waffles... I liked the pomegranate syrup but the feta was def overkill. I get where they were going with that but um... they need to bring it back and try it again. Chicken was very crunchy. Belgian waffle satisfied by sweet tooth and was a nice way to round out a carb overload, but it wasn't all that honestly speaking. It's kinda like when you have too much to drink, you can't really discern the flavors between the different drinks because you're plastered (I'm not speaking from experience.... people tell me these things...), well when you've had too many carbs and sweets after a while everything is just... monotonously sweet Good: I enjoyed the shrimp and grits when they were hot and fresh. Apparently they're better in Cava Mezze DC, but I'm not trekking to DC for that when I can get Poke Papa. THE POTATO HASH WITH HARISSA KETCHUP WAS THE BEST THING ON THE MENU AND DESERVES ALL THE CAPS. Ok I'm done. The nova lox with cream cheese, dill and pita chips was also delicious. Was in when Cavs opened at 4:30. I loved the pita and the spread as a starter. The menu is small so when the waitress let me k wi that four items were not available, I was limited on what to order. I ordered the gyro. Really thought I was getting a meal with fries and instead I received 3 small sized gyros wrist had one or two fries stuffed inside. Great service, great atmosphere, good food. We came in as walk-ins on a Friday night and we took the hostess's suggestion to eat at the bar to get service the quickest. I was worried that we would have to fight to order food/drink and get folks' attention but we felt we were as well-cared-for as the "full service" tables. Be warned, my partner and I ordered the Chef D Platter without having had any appetizers and we hardly finished half. I would say if you had an appetizer or two and took full advantage of the pita and dip -- you could easily feed 4 and feel full (you'd just have to duke it out on the 2 lamb chops). The meats, in order of preference: *****. Grilled meatballs. I don't know where they source their beef but it's super flavorful, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. ****. The chicken skewers?!! I kind of hate/am bored by chicken and this was on the top of my list. Nicely brined and incredibly moist and charred just enough. ***. Gyro. Yes, slices of basically Mediterranean hotdog was better than any of the lamb offerings. **. Lamb meatballs. What the heck? I thought lamb by definition had more of a nose than straight-up beef. Not here. Texture was off, taste didn't have the kind of pungency I expect from lamb, not a huge fan of this one. *. Lamb chops. What a shame. For a nice, unadulterated piece of lamb, they really did the protein a disservice by underseasoning it. I wouldn't have been as bothered by the fat chunks (in fact, I was looking forward to enjoying them) if they were actually salted properly. A real lost opportunity. + Chef D Platter also looks bigger than it is because the meats are draped over a HILL of fries. Which I am 100% not complaining about because the fries (seasoned with the meat juices and a little lemon, I believe) were absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS as an air-fried leftover a day after. + Also I don't know what they do to make their pita so soft and delicious but they've got the formula down PAT. ~ I wish the oil to the pita bread was more... olive-y. Red dip was also good but not terribly complex. But hey, it's free with the meal so keep 'em coming! read more

As always, love this place! Had a nice glass of sparkling wine with a Friday night dinner. The tables were spaced very far apart and there were outside tables. The food is always delicious and comes out when it's ready. Everything is designed for indivisible plates so you can share - a la cart. The braised beef is my personal favorite. This is a nice place to dine. Two plates is definitely enough per person. I would definitely come here for dinner if you can! The bathrooms are individual locking rooms and there's three stalls. They have a nice bar with a few TVs. The servers were very nice and accommodating. read more

It was a last minute decision on a Friday night to try this place so we didn't have reservations. We took our chances and just showed up. The first thing I noticed as we walked in behind the big black front door, was the loud noise of all the conversations. The restaurant was packed. Luckily the evening was okay enough to eat outside on a hot day in June. We're actually glad we did. It was much nicer in terms of the sound. You would have to raise your voice inside. This was the reason for the drop in the star rating. But let me tell you about the food. Oh my, it was fabulous. We were given a tray of sliced pita bread with a spicy humus. Loved the soft and warm bread. But make sure you do not to eat too much of the bread because we ordered the Chef D Platter which contains even more of the same pita bread. We thought the platter was a great choice if you've never tried the entrees. It contains lamb chops, chicken souvlaki, grilled meatballs, gyro, fries, tzatziki, pita, onions, and tomatoes. It serves 2-3 people or 1 animal. The meatballs were my favorite. I would definitely order this again but I have to remember to ask that the fries be served on a different plate. The fries were buried under all the meat and became soggy. I will not do soggy fries. Service was wonderful and attentive. Definitely worth a return visit. This is a nice place, swanky for Olney. Romantic vibe with the dark colors and candles. Went on a Thursday evening for dinner, was pretty lively from happy hour maybe? We were sat by the door, which wasn't ideal, but it wasn't cold or cramped so no big deal. I got the salmon- the flavor and texture were amazing. The yogurt sauce was a perfect touch and the beets weren't bad either. Only issue is that the portion size was small- I was still a little hungry afterwards but luckily I could snack on the pita bread given to each table (could've had a whole meal of that!) read more
