Cavalli Cafe is an extremely charming cafe located near Little Italy. I tried the cappucino and it was delicious. I have heard the tiramisu is divine, and will have to try it for myself when I return. The seating is what really drew Cavalli apart. It's a two-story cafe where the second story has barstools that face windows. It gives a sweet view of Coit Tower, and is a really nice spot to pass time and watch cars/people pass by. There are also numerous tables on both stories. The cafe has a whole calming vibe and would make it a nice place to study, read, or catch up with friends. read more

Walked in here by chance. We had just finished lunch, and the wife saw "cannoli" on the sign and said LET'S GO. Service was quick, for us lol. The shop filled up immediately after we walked in. Two Italians talking business near the register made me feel the warm and fuzzy. Cannolis were good. I just feel as though it wasn't the greatest I've ever had. It was on par with the other good cannolis I've had (many were bad as well). Either way, we definitely enjoyed it. Not a bad cannolis at all. Got drawn in, coming back from China town and was immediately sucked in for a quick treat, a much needed respite from the streets of San Francisco. Their little Italy appears to be just across the street from Chinatown. If you look at their desserts, you won't see any cannolis and that's because they're made to order. That's something you don't typically find elsewhere. So just ask the lady and your cannoli comes out extra crunchy and fresh. Decent Italian café for pastries and beverages. I won't get into the argument about the cannoli because I had the millefeuille, which was very nice - a generous portion for about $5. By itself, that's a 4* place, but what makes this 5* is the view. Late afternoon at an outside table looking up at the Coit Tower was marvelous. Super cute hangout spot in North Beach with several tables inside and a couple outdoors to enjoy a cup of coffee and dessert. Quite a few desserts to choose from in the display cases, not to mention the tiramisu and cannoli that's not displayed but can be ordered. During our recent visit, we ordered both the tiramisu and cannoli, as well as a cappuccino. The tiramisu was moist and those lady fingers were drenched in espresso - yum! However, out of both, I liked the cannoli more. Made fresh to order so the shell was still crispy throughout. Loved the combination of the chocolate chips and pistachios, and perfect amount of sweetness in the cream. Would've ordered another one, but I would've felt too guilty in all that splurging. Nice place to relax. We stopped here for a quick snack before heading to Club Fugazi for Dear San Francisco (which I highly recommend btw). A very charming café with a cozy atmosphere. You can even sit upstairs, and the girls at the counter were very friendly. The pastries were delicious, and it's convenient that they accept credit cards. There's seating both inside and outside, which is great. However, the only downside is that people are constantly smoking on their outdoor patio, and the smoke drifts inside. Unfortunately, I had to leave quickly because sitting in the smoke was unpleasant. I walked by the café a few more times afterward, and every time, someone was smoking outside. read more

We discovered Cavalli Cafe a couple of months ago when we were in North Beach to catch a show at Club Fugazi. The fresh made cannoli was so good we decided to come back after we were in town again to visit Coit Tower. Though they sell both sandwiches and sweets, it seems like the desserts are the true star here. I had some ordering trouble since the person who took my order totally missed one of my sandwiches and one of my cookies in my in-person takeout order, so I didn't get to try as many things as I would have liked. But in retrospect, the bill did seem lower than expected so at least I wasn't overcharged. Meat Me Crazy: Tasty, but hard to compare to the high standard of Alimento just around the corner. The meats were better than Subway or Safeway though. Not huge, but satisfying enough. The bread was thin and crusty, giving it a lot of mouthfeel. Cannoli: Filled to order with one side dipped in chocolate chips and the other dipped in pistachios. Then two very yummy candied orange peels (my favorite!) on top. Way better than cannolis that have been filled and laying around all day (or more). The fresh filling means the shell is entirely crunchy all around. And the creamy filling feels a look fluffier since it hasn't had time to settle. Tiramisu: Sometimes you get tiramisu at bakeries and it's too dry. Here, they're not afraid to really soak the lady fingers! And it was a very intense espresso soaking. Possibly close to being too bitter, but the sweet cream helps offset it. Paste Di Mandorle: Doesn't look that impressive, just a brown mound with a cherry on top. But wow, it tasted amazing! Basically it's a big pile of smooth and sweet almond pasta. It's like they took the best part of those thin almond cookies and multiplied it several times over. Also, the cherry was great pairing to finish it off... with a cherry on top! Apricot Jelly Cookie: A dry buttery cookie with a tasty dollop of jelly in the middle. Together they're perfect, not too dry at all. Occhio Di Blue: Looked like a larger version of the jelly cookie. However, the surrounding cookie was a tad softer (though not as a soft as the paste di mandorle). Actually preferred this to the smaller jelly cookie. read more

Came by for a quick rest to catch up with friends - I got an espresso and a biscotti. The staff were super friendly here. This spot here is known for its cannoli, one of my friend got it so I had a bite. It was yummy, crunchy and creamy. The espresso I had was good, the coffee quality of good - usually spots that don't specialize in coffee tend to have espresso that is a bitter aftertaste so I'm glad this place did not. The biscotti was a good treat to go along with the coffee not super sweet, although it was a little bit too crunchy. It tastes like it might've been sitting for a bit. Great service and coffee, the only concerns are that there are people by the door smoking and all the smell is coming inside doors is a really strong smell. By law smokers must be smoking 25 feet's away from the door. I also want to highlight that there is not space to sit for costumers due to all the smokers are playing cards and they tend to take all the space. I know that Italians and Irish have a rivalry history, but this cafe really hates me. Years ago, the cannolis were amazing and the tiramisu was drenched in espresso and tasted amazing. But I dined here recently and the cannoli was bland and came with a price hike of $9.00 for a tiny cannoli. The tiramisu tasted different, too sweet and was on par with the Safeway bakery, only at Safeway, I could get a whole cake for a bit over $7.00 instead of one slice. This is just another San Francisco post-Covid gouge. I guess you can only get authentic Italian pastries from the east coast. This past weekend I took a trip to see some in laws near the Cafe. They showed me around knowing as an Italian from New York I was long over due for some goodies. Customer service was nice. Almond cake is also super delicious and not drowning in sugar like other places. -1 star for overly burnt coffee beans (though coffee itself is correctly made and has a good texture).
