I'm a high 4/5, my wife was a solid 5. the food was great. fresh. tasty. great, bright flavors. unique offerings. something for everyone given a limited menu. good drinks. service was lacking - it seemed like we caught them at a weird time - but they pulled through and got the job done. I didn't like the noiseness of the room, but it's hard to complain when most modern restaurants have no sound dampening. maybe that's a weird complaint, it just seemed noisy in there. I don't think there's enough here to keep me coming back, but I can definitely see my wife bringing her friends here from time to time.

We came here on a Saturday evening, it wasn't too busy and right off the bat we were disappointed that we weren't greeted by anyone. There were two gentlemen at the bar, and they didn't say "hi" or "hey have a seat or we will be with you in just a moment". When we were finally acknowledged, the gentleman that took care of us was very nice. We were a party of five and were disappointed with the menu. The menu consisted of tacos, tamales, chips & salsa, and mixed drinks. We decided to stay and give it a try. The Paloma was the only thing that tasted good. Unfortunately, we did not like the food. We ordered a pork tamale and a cheese tamale. The masa to the tamale was thick and dry with very little meat/protein inside. Tamales should be light and moist. Although the tortillas from the tacos were homemade, the masa was also thick and had an after taste. You can tell that the tortillas, chips, and tamales were all made from the same masa because it had the same after taste. The rice tasted plain and so did the beans. It did not have an authentic Mexican flavor. Also for the taco protein variety, there was no carne asada?!? The other disappointment, is you have to pay for chips and salsa. Culturally, chips and salsa should be complimentary. I understand that guacamole is a paid option but the guacamole was served in a tiny salsa bowl. Although the service improved, we will not be returning.

Came here for Valentine's Day and the staff and service were so nice ! Like extremely nice! Everyone came and checked on us periodically and the chef even came out to meet us. Service itself was top tier. The ambiance was romantic, mood lighting and music playing in the background. The decor is modern with traditional talavera tiles. Bathrooms were super clean. Now on to the food. We got the habanero pesto fries 5/5, I can sit there and eat a whole basket to myself but decided to share with my husband. It was good! I also ordered a 2 item meal with rice and beans for only 11 bucks ! Very inexpensive for a whole meal ! I got the New Mexico pork tamale 3/5, I wasn't a fan of sweet and savory as it came with a pineapple salsa but I will say the masa was super soft and not thick like some places. I also got the citrus marinated chicken taco which came with Napa cabbage and chipotle aioli 4/5. I wouldn't compare this to a taco from a taco truck, think elevated and sophisticated. Now while we enjoyed the food and really enjoyed the drinks, I want to put on here that the wait for the food was very long. Granted it was Valentine's Day but we went at 6:30 pm and the restaurant wasn't too packed. We finished our appetizer and our food didn't come out for 35 mins after ordering. We finished our meal and our dessert didn't come out for another 20 minutes. We were in the restaurant for over 2 hours. So keep that in mind if you're going for a date night and have plans after. Overall, the food and the service was amazing. Service was so good that it's worth the long wait for the food and drinks. Would return in the future.

5/18/25 Such a fan of this woman owned restaurant! Especially after a Great Yelp experience! I called and ordered their 2 items plate that comes with rice & beans. The worker was very kind and happy to give recommendations. Ordered the recommended creamy chicken poblano tamale & citrus marinated chicken. She said it would be ready. Arrived, greeted and worker was very kind and order was ready. Paid for it and wished a good day! Great! Restaurant is classy and Great! Calm & nice. Lunchtime! Chicken poblano tamale was flavorful with a nice, spicy kick! Sauce included made it even better! Citrus marinated chicken taco was Tasty! Lots of flavor! Beans and rice were healthy and Really GREAT! They deserve every star! It's a lot! But Leftovers too! Great service & GREAT lunch! Highly recommended!

Delicious food with warm and inviting atmosphere. I'm glad I found out casa de tamales came back as CDT Cocina. Used to come here as the old name. It's gotten fancier but the food is still good and great customer service. I will say the blue berry tamale was not as good as it used to be. It was a little dry. Not as delicious as I remember them but the rest of the meal was on point. Glad I rediscovered this little gem in the heart of Fresno. Look forward to coming back and trying a couple different tamales.

Simple and delicious. I love Mexican food but sometimes it can leave the tummy rumbling. This place caused no harm! Which made me feel secure that the food I was eating was fresh. I loved the vegan cauliflower tacos and the poblano and broccoli tamale. Delicious and flavorful. The service was excellent and the servers were kind.

The ambiance is super cute and very clean! Food was excellent, good selections of drinks (margs!) tacos, tamales, and even a salad. We opted for an assortment of tacos and were not disappointed. We went on a sleepy Sunday so the service was kind of slow when we were waiting for our tab, but everyone we interacted with was very friendly. I'm curious to come back and try more things

On Saturdays they have a special 2 plates for 15 dollars. You get to chose 2 items from tamales to tacos. They have meat and vegetarian options as well. I always get a chicken tomatillo and this time I tried the beef taco. The meat on the taco and the spicy salsa was so delicious. I honestly think the taco didn't need corn on it. The tamales are always good and keep me coming back. They also have really good margaritas too.

So about 10 minutes after I posted a review about the dry salmon and delicious cheddar and jalepeno tamales and not getting water refills for quite some time, my boyfriend found about a two inch piece of wire in his rice and beans. He refused to let me take a picture it and post it. Very dangerous. Check your food if you eat here.

I love CDT Cocina! The food and service are always on point. I remember when they were located downtown - it's so good to see the restaurant thriving in the tower district now. I always order the two combo plate! Try the Cauliflower tacos and tamales if that's your jam. Amazing flavors and get some of their pesto sauce on the side if you like heat. SO GOOD! Give this local gem a visit

Was looking for a place near Tower Theatre where we were going for a show and this happened to be right next to it. Apparently Tower has a street market on Thursdays. This place was fantastic! Staff were super nice and the six tacos and habanero fries special for only $22 was awesome! Yes this was spicy but the flavors were on point. We chose 2 cauliflower, 2 chicken and 2 carnitas tacos. All were very good, but the cauliflower were excellent. The fries were the star of the show. Plan a date night and check this place out.

Great Saturday lunch at CDT Cocina in August 2024. Very inviting and nicely decorated space with beautiful bar and high top and table seating. Love the light fixures! Friendly service throughout our visit. Great selection of margaritas. I'm on the 2024 sobriety wagon so I enjoyed one of their NA drinks, the Sweetie! A great and refreshing mix of hisbiscus tea and minty lemonade. The perfect amount of sweetness. Ben said his margarita was good but a little too sweet for him. We enjoyed our dishes. Their chicken ensalada is the perfect size and tasted very fresh. The chicken was very tender. Ben tried the taco and tamale combo. He said both were good and the spicy sauce on the side was a great suggestion by our waiter.

The dude and I came to CDT Cocina several times and absolutely love this place. This cute restaurant is located in the heart of Tower and it's hard to miss. Once you walk in it's seriously stunning inside. They have music going on and the owner is always there greeting and interacting with her customers. Each time we were seated immediately. They have a limited menu but tasty options. They are vegan and gluten free friendly too! Each time I always get the tacos and the dude gets the combination plate which is under $12 which comes with beans and rice choice of tamale or tacos. The carnitas tacos are absolutely tasty and I highly recommend . The chicken tacos are hit or miss but I haven't tried their other meat options. The tamales are flavorful and delicious. The staff is wonderful as well. The cocktails are dirt cheap and GOOD. Top notch. I usually get one or two, the dude gets one or two along with agua Fresca. Overall, we come here for the food and drinks as this is the only place we know where you can get two full meals, three to four cocktails all for under $40. It's an absolute steal. Seriously makes dining out so much enjoyable! If you haven't tried this place out! You are missing a hidden gem. Cannot wait to come again! They will continue to have our business!

Just came today with my friend she ordered one item plate w/ chicken tamale cups and guacamole. I ordered 2 items carnitas taco and jalapeno and cheese tamale. Guacamole and chips tasty the salsa was watered down and bland no flavor looks like they used canned tomatoes. My tamale had too much masa . My carnitas taco needed more flavor. My friend also said the only thing good was the chips and guacamole. Although disappointed in the food we both left a good tip. But neither of us plans on coming here again. read more

10/10 - the best part of moving to Fresno. Eating plant based super affordable, easy, and accessible here. They have limited hours so put it on your calendar or pay attention to when you can go cause it's worth it and probably for the best cause I'd be there too much if they were open more often. Very cute place with great service. I love that they have vegetarian and vegan options. All of our food was good. Out of the four tamales we tried, I would order the jalapeño cheese and the portobello/asparagus/broccoli again and then try something else for the other two. The tamales were a good size, and the masa was good and not greasy or falling apart. My zumbarita was delicious too. We will be back! read more

Came here for brunch this morning with a few friends and was pleasantly surprised at how good the tamales were. We came right at opening, so they weren't busy at all. We were seated right away and our drinks orders were taken promptly. They have a brunch menu with some specials and mimosas. For my meal, I had the chirizo tamales with fried eggs on top, rice and beans. I also ordered a mango mimosa...because brunch! The tamales were delicious. The masa was flavorful and moist and just the right size. The fried egg on top is a must if you're having tamales for breakfast! The mimosa was also good and a fair price at $4 a glass. I had a wonder experience here and will definitely return to try more of their many variety of tamales! Food was great as well as customer service. Great addition to Tower! read more

I came for the margarita tasting and stayed for the food! I loved the event as I got to taste a lot different items and loved it all. It's my new favorite go to place for delicious food and drink. I can't wait to take my friends here. The service was amazing too. The staff was friendly and i really liked that it was quiet. Maybe because there were no children there. I also like that it was crowded too. I felt like it was my own little private party. My fave margarita was the carrot thyme one. To my surprise! It was deeeeelicious! Also, the food was amazing too. Homemade tortillas for the tacos and very moist and flavorful tamales. I could eat them everyday. A lot of vegan options too. I look forward to another tasting and sharing this place with my friends! read more

Casa de Tamales has moved & changed their name - but is still delicious!! The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated and comfortable. You order at a counter when you walk in, and are then seated. Highly recommended the chicken tomatillo tamale! Soft and moist masa with delicious tomatillo salsa on top! And the agua fresca was so good! Our server was friendly and the owner even came by and was super nice. I would definitely come back! This is an awesome woman-owned restaurant, and they source most of their tequila from woman-owned businesses!! read more

I've been coming to casa de tamales since it's inception, and what's always brought me back was the farmers market vegan tamales. They are so DELICIOUS. but lately it's been hit or miss. Today 2/16/23 4:47p they're just not hitting like they have on previous visits. They taste like the pickled jalapeños and carrots from a can inside some masa. I also orders some vegan jalapeño and cheese tamales, and they're delicious. If farmers markets continue to be not as good as they were in the past, I'll be forced to switch to the jalapeño and vegan cheese tamales. Everything is still good. But the farmers market tamales are lacking. Hopefully it's just this batch. read more

100% gluten-free is a hot commodity, so to be able to eat without concern of cross contamination is awesome. The food was good, not the BEST, but good. The drink we got was weak, but interesting. The atmosphere is loud. Like LOUD. It echos a lot. So if you want a quiet vibe, this is not it. The owner was wandering around chatting with people and helping wait tables. She was very kind and I liked the way she helped where needed. I'd go back. read more

The tamales are pretty big. I love tamales but don't order much outside of my local farmers market. We ordered 3 tamales and 3 tacos and 2 margaritas and everything tasted good, I even reheated 2 of my tamales next day for breakfast and it was still delicious- highly recommend the farmers market tamale. Everything is gluten free so that's great, but there are also lots of vegan options. Watch your order tally because the server does not always tell you when they add something to your bill. read more

This was a nice quiet spot that my Vegan son found, we decided on this place because they had both vegan/vegetarian and meat options. We all ordered the two plate combos, my son got the portobello tamale with the beyond crispy taco, his Girlfriend got the cauliflower taco as well as the beyond crispy taco, I got the pork tamale and spicy barbacoa taco. The crispy beyond taco was a winner according to both the kidos, the rice and beans were good too, i personally didn't care for the tamales, it was dry and the taco wasn't of my liking either, but my son and his GF ate most there meal so I'll give it a 3* i only had a bite of each of my choices and finished the rice and beans. We had fun and would come back for the crispy beyond tacos, ohhhh they did have some amazing habanero pest fries, surprisingly delicious even though they were vegan. So yeah, I'll give them a try and order something else next time :) read more

Glad to see atleast one Mexican restaurant try to cater to the growing number of Vegan and vegetarian customers. love that 50 percent of the food is vegan. love that the standard rice and beans are vegan. and low sodium content makes for a healthy meal. Portions are great. great value for money. only downside - tamales are more of maaza than the filling. the corn tortiallas and chips are a little too thick. Taste is okay. not great. Salasa with pineapple was the best. location is good. ambience was good. waiter with the glasses was very friendly. the other one kept ignoring signals for service. owner is very friendly. read more

We ordered tamales for Christmas Eve . I was excited to try this place but sadly I was disappointed. The tamales were mostly masa. Not much flavor . We ordered 3 different kinds. None were very good . The salsa was bland as well. We also thought the beans and rice were flavorless. Sometimes I think it's better to go in and eat the food while it's fresh. I probably will give this place another try but dine inside and try their margaritas. read more

You MUST go eat here not only if you have celiac (all food is gluten free), but even if you just enjoy delicious and fresh tasting food! Soooooo yummy and I can't wait to go back! The servers and host were very friendly and did a great job with our order. To start with, we ordered chips, salsa, and guacamole, along with trying the pesto ranch fries. Both were 5 star good. Each of us at the table ordered the two item plate off of the menu. Mine had a chicken tomatillo tamale and a pork taco along with the rice and beans. Both were incredibly fresh with a homemade taste. You definitely do not want to miss this place when in Fresno, California. The entire menu is gluten free with the exception of a few of the bar drinks I was told. I've actually been back here 2 more times and everything was just as yummy! I live in Turlock, and look forward to taking my family again when we visit Fresno. Great job owners of CDT Cocina!!! read more

Finally got to try this spot in the Tower. Thoughts: the guacamole had a flavor and texture that we weren't crazy about. Chips were meh...did not seem housemade. Drinks were great! Tacos were great too. Tamales...loved the filling, but the masa was too thick , kinda tough, not enough flavor. So...we'll be back for the tacos and drinks for sure. read more

I'm not sure what happened. Their former locations and food truck were my go-to's--I was 100% a-okay with the Styrofoam takeout containers and plastic cups. Now, it's more of a sitdown, Cantina-style restaurant. Despite only two other couples being in the restaurant (who were already served), it took over 45 minutes to receive our food. This seems completely unreasonable for tamales that are prepared in advance, and used to come out of their former kitchen in less than 10 minutes. Secondly, they didn't come with any of the toppings they used to come with -- no guacamole on the side, no corn salsa, and none of the green sauce. They were completely plain/dry. Lastly, the vegetables inside the Farmer's Market tamale were so mushy and overcooked. Our waitress seemed to ignore us, not bringing us refills, and then up-charged us for a side of corn salsa after assuring us that it wasn't extra (we had purchased chips and salsa). Not a problem, but we were assured it wasn't a problem/upcharge to substitute it, and that wasn't the case. Again, I'm not sure what happened, but it definitely was not the same, and that makes me so sad. read more

For one, the atmosphere here is phenomenal. It is beautifully decorated and gives a fun, light hearted energy. And. The. Food. Probably the best tamales you'll ever taste! And a HUGE bonus are the veggie and vegan options. All their tequila is purchased from woman owned businesses in Mexico. It's truly a phenomenal space. Go. And go again!!! read more

CDT Cocina offers the fantastic food from Casa de Tamales with a few new twists. Full-service margarita bar, tacos (who doesn't love tacos) and more. The food quality and preparation is spot on. Everything we tried was delicious. I have a few minor quibbles... Like plastic glasses and containers for salsa and guacamole. Minor things. It's all very reasonably priced as well. Just had the online Saturday Special and let me tell you, I cannot say enough good things about it! I don't eat out much due to gluten allergy, but this restaurant has many gluten free options. I had the Citrus Marinated Chicken taco and the chicken tomatillo tamale. My husband had the Carnitas taco and the New Mexico Pork tamale. Each two entree dinner came with beans and rice. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be eating here again!! read more

After a rough experience at Sequoia (next door), my girlfriend and I decided to try out CDT. We were immediately met by nice and helpful staff. They haven't had their official opening yet, but this place looks great. We ordered our food and sat down and quickly were brought our meal. The star of the show was the cauliflower tacos!! I am not vegan by any means, but this was my absolute favorite (and my girlfriend). Half their menu is vegan, home made tortillas, fresh ingredients! I highly recommend this place to anyone! read more

It's Tamale SZN and I was on the hunt for dessert tamales. Given that they're the House of Tamales I thought I'd give this place a try. The decor of this location is quite nice and modern, the prices are fair for what they are and the location is in a nice spot in Tower. I placed an order for a variety of their tamales as well as their dessert tamales. For 6 tamales they're priced at $19, we ordered the Portobello, asparagus, broccoli tamale, sweet corn, chicken tomatillo, jalapeño and cheese, creamy chicken poblano, and the spinach artichoke tamales. The 3 dessert tamales they have are blueberry and cream cheese, chocolate cake, and pumpkin. The other item that we got was a pint of rice. All for about $33. Everything came out quick and smelled delicious. All the sauces were packed with it as well. Tried the jalapeño and cheese tamale it was more masa than fillings, same with the chicken tomatillo, which was extremely dry; then the portobello tamale which was really weird tasting and not quite tasty. Also a nice pint of rice. Out of the 6 we ate 3. All the tamales had more masa than filling and tasted super dry. (Side Note, i didn't know that their tamales were mostly gluten free or vegan; cool for those that have those special diets, but not for me) The rice was super dry and not tasty at all I got there around 12 and was hoping for the freshest stuff. Moving onto the dessert tamales, the one that probably is their saving Grace is their blueberry and cream cheese tamale, the cream cheese was the only thing making it good. Haven't tried the pumpkin one yet but hopefully it is good. This is a spot for those that have allergies and special diets, but for many people the flavor and taste of these tamales was extremely lackluster. read more

I was not prepared to find excellence in Fresno. But we found it in CDT Cocina. We had a variety of tacos for dinner and then the sweet corn tamale and blueberry cream cheese tamales for desert. The barbaco tacos had the perfect mix of flavors. And the tamales. I do not have words enough to praise the tamales. The restaurant has an open, airy feel with friendly people and great service. Decided to stop at CDT for a quick meal after running errands all day, and to my surprise, they had changed location! After figuring out where their new location was, I was more than ready for some tamales. Their menu has changed, they now have pozole and albondigas (I'll make sure to try them next time). The vegan tamales are delicious, the pairing of it with the Pineapple pieces and vegetables give it a unique taste. I tried their Habanero Pesto French Fries, and they were soooo good. Not too greasy, not too spicy, and the pesto was great. This was my first time eating at their new set-up, and I enjoyed it. It is out in the open, under the shade of a tree, but enclosed that it gives guests privacy. I'll be coming back to enjoy their delicious vegan food! read more

CDT is a great establishment in Tower, offering a robust menu of tacos, tamales, and cocktails! We came in as a group on Friday night and they were able to seat us in about 20 minutes. My husband and I shared half a dozen of tamales & tacos, including barbacoa taco, fiery salmon taco, spinach/artichoke tamale. The other tacos were devour by my husband so no notes there! The salmon was lacking fire and flavor, but felt like a very clean dish with little grease. I can tell that the tortillas and salmon are fresh, but the dish could use some additional seasoning. The barbacoa was also lacking in flavor. The tamale however, was moist and delicious! We also tried the guacamole & chips and the pesto fries. All of the sides were tasty.
