I agreed with my daughter that this restaurant deserves 5 stars. If I could give it more, I would. If you're looking for a nice romantic dinner or a dinner date with your teenage daughter, this is the spot! Celadon is located in beautiful downtown Napa which offers outdoor dining. I made reservations 3 days prior to my arrival through Opentable (reservations recommended). Parking wasn't an issue in the evening, however, I'm sure it's a bit of a challenge earlier in the day, especially a weekend. I was at Celadon on a Tuesday night. There is a parking garage across the street and a short walk away from the restaurant. The first thing I noticed is the lighted walkway which automatically gave me New Orleans vibes. The host seated us immediately -- and yes, this restaurant is Covid compliant, every employee at the restaurant correctly wore their masks. And there was hand sanitizer in the front. I loved the interior. We sat outdoors but it didn't feel like we were outdoors. There was a cozy fireplace across from our table and a heated lamp above us. We felt VERY comfortable. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Not only did she make sure we had everything we need, other staff members also walked up to our table asking us how we were doing. I ordered the Crispy Braised Pork Lettuce Cups (appetizer), the Moroccan Braised Lamb Shank (entree) and my daughter ordered the Grilled Pork T-bone. Crispy Braised Pork Lettuce Cups: These were delicious and very tasty! If you're trying to cut down on carbs, this is the perfect appetizer. Moroccan Braised Lamb Shank: So I looked at the other Yelp reviews and assumed that the entree was small. I was so wrong! I couldn't even finish my food. It was so good. I recommend this entree. Delicious! Grilled Pork T-bone: I didn't try it but my daughter seemed to enjoy her meal. Hate to bring this up, but she did mention that the Brussel sprouts tasted "hard" and undercooked. I don't normally eat Brussels sprouts so I wouldn't know. Our meal also came with complimentary bread (this was my favorite) and balsamic oil/vinegar. I would also like to give credit to this restaurant for not wasting food. An employee gave us the Flash Fried Calamari appetizer for free because they made an extra one in error. Instead of throwing it away, they gave it to us and it was delicious! We got super lucky! But I swear that's not the reason why I'm giving this restaurant 5 stars! Now for the price range -- the menu prices are on the high side, but totally worth it. I wish I had the space to try their dessert! I guess I'll have to wait until next time. The service here was sensational and the food was delicious. Can't wait to come back to try the other entrees -- and next time I'm making room for dessert! Edit: I totally left out important information for those worried if this restaurant is Covid compliant. The answer is, Yes! Had to stop. Pappardelle was the Inbetween... we shared that and it was cooked perfectly. Dined here for the first time and we love this place! Came for my birthday and had an early dinner. We were acquainted with the shops and restaurants right on Main Street in downtown Napa, however Celadon is actually not physically on 555 Main Street. That address is a hotel. You need to turn on a corner a bit and there's a sign directing you to the restaurant. Once we entered the area, we were greeted by a beautiful entryway of lush foliage. We made reservations ahead of time, and were the first ones there for dinner. Due to Covid, they require masks and checked everyone's temperature on the forehead or wrist prior to being seated. We admired the decor and ambiance. So beautiful and well appointed. Since we sat in the outside patio on a Fall evening, there was a bit of a slight breeze as nightfall was beginning, so I suggest to dress accordingly. Our server, Adriana, was very nice and attentive. She answered any questions we had and made sure our dining experience went well. We got our waters and ordered calamari as an appetizer. The calamari was cooked perfectly, not oily or rubbery. Waitstaff came out with freshly warm mini ciabatta rolls with oil and balsamic vinegar to dip. Yum. We then ordered our entrees of roasted salmon and filet mignon. I had the roasted salmon which came with small roasted potatoes and veggies. All was cooked to perfection and I liked how the salmon was pan seared to give that little bit of crunch to it. My husband had the filet mignon which came with veggies and mashed potatoes. He enjoyed it very much. Afterwards, we had the warm spiced apple cake with a scoop of gelato. It was very good, however the cake wasn't warm. It was served room temperature; hence, minus the one star. All in all, we enjoyed our dining experience at Celadon very much and will return. The soup was creamy and rich without being too filling. I got the sticky ribs with truffle fries and my boyfriend had the special, a beef Ravioli. They were both amazing. I only wish i had more room in my stomach for the ribs, i felt so bad not being able to finish them! Highly recommend opting for the truffle fries. You can tell the oil is high quality with how potent it is- the fries were coated and fragrant but not soggy and oily. The parm was light and added the right amount of salt. The ribs themselves were sweet and rich- the meat fell off the bone! We had the brownie and port pairing, which was wonderful. What a great place! My husband and I came here last night for dinner. We were greeted by a very nice host who offered us a table in the patio area or inside. We chose the inside of the restaurant because it was a bit more quiet in there. But, we changed our mind and asked to be move to the patio, we liked the ambiance there. We were served delicious bread warm, with a yummy olive oil and vinegar dip. We shared a large Caesar salad, ordered 2 glasses of red wine, for our entree I got short ribs with mushroom risotto and my husband got the pork chop. Both were very good, and large quantities! COVID-19 dining is indoors, in their greenhouse/atrium setup. Tables are distanced and servers wear masks and frequently change gloves. All place settings, including the tablecloth, are replaced between parties and they also wipe down the chairs. We arrived for lunch on a Sunday and there was no wait. We ordered the soy-braised pork belly (served with watermelon cubes and was absolutely scrumptious *chefs kiss*), the american style kobe beef burger with fries (seasoned and grilled to perfection), and a short stack of pancakes to carbo-load before more wine tasting in the afternoon. Service was fantastic! Our waiter was very attentive and followed all safety and sanitary protocols. Our water never fell below 3/4ths of the glass because they were refilling it so frequently. This was my second visit and they did not disappoint. Came here last night for my birthday dinner and it was amazing from start to finish. Ashley who booked our reservation was friendly and very accommodating.Same day late reservations for a party of 8 with 2 kids! Terrie hosted us and she was outstanding. The only thing that was odd were the size of the tables, which were abnormally large, but they were still spaced apart from other tables enough. The food was good. They were so greasy I didn't bother tasting the rest of the dish. The waiter returned the dish to remedy the very foul tasting greasy sides. The dish returned with overcooked English peas, tasteless mash potatoes and unseasoned chicken. Horrible. Worst meal in a very long time. I took one bite of each item and sent it back. They did not charge me but our dinner was ruined. We were looking forward to a Saturday night summer dinner at one of our favorite restaurants as we are locals. So disappointed that the food quality has declined so badly. The wine list offered very few moderately priced wine and even fewer moderately priced Napa wines when there are so many to choose from. We chose Celadon for a birthday dinner. It read as a really good restaurant when we found it online and it certainly was that. We were warmly greeted by everyone on the staff that crossed our paths. The restaurant wasn't full when we arrived and the hostess was nice enough to give us some options for seating rather than just plopping us down where they decided on prior to our arrival. That was a nice touch I always notice. If we had one issue with staff was the bussers were a tad aggressive trying to clear plates but it's hard to be negative about people who are just trying to work hard and be efficient. The restaurant itself is quite beautiful. From the walkway leading to the main door and the rustic feel of the main dining room and a more modern feel in the bar dining area. The place just feels good when you walk around it. My friend and I are always big fans of nice restaurant bathrooms and Celadon is definitely one of those. The food isn't over the top or groundbreaking. Its simply good food done very well. We shared a very good salad with burrata, squash, and greens. There was a salmon special which we ordered along with a braised lamb shank as our entrees. Both dishes were excellent. I could have used a tad more salt on the lamb but that's being nitpicky. We didn't finish our meals only to save room for dessert which was our favorite course, which normally doesn't happen for us. I had recently been to Carbone in Las Vegas which had the best cheesecake either of us have ever had and the one at Celadon was right up there with it. However, we would argue that the lemon meringue pie was even better. Needless to say, were both happy with our desserts. Overall, Celadon was a nice surprise for both of us and we would wholeheartedly come back again as well as suggest it to our friends. Not that we were romantic in any way but this definitely is a restaurant that evokes romance within their walls. Reservation placed beforehand for a party of 6 and indoor dining. My group shared the flash fried calamari and the crispy cauliflower appetizers. Everyone enjoyed both. Both appetizers were crispy. The calamari had a small kick of spice from the chipotle chili. The bread was served hot. A seasoned oil was provided for the bread. The oil was garlicky and the flavor was reminiscent of herbs used in pizza sauce. After all the cauliflower was taken, I dipped my bread into the honey and ricotta that was left on it's dish. I ordered the Asian sticky ribs with regular fries. The fries were good since they were served hot and weren't too salty. The ribs were definitely sticky but were a bit too salty. I wanted to eat the ribs with a bowl of white rice to help balance the saltiness. My bf ordered the special which was risotto. It had asparagus and came with 3 prawns on top. He said the prawns were good-seasoned well and that the risotto was good. I ordered a chuck burger and got a very dry, charred mess. They didn't ask how I wanted it, but it wouldn't have mattered because no one could save this. The pork hash was equally disappointing and a soggy, deconstructed mess. And while the dining room wasn't full, it took our food an extremely long time to get out. I heard good things about this restaurant so I thought I give it a try before visiting the wineries. We had brunch and enjoyed the semi-outdoor seating area along with the great service. The food however was okay and nothing that excited my palette. We started with their banana bread which was topped with 2 bananas for decoration. To my surprise the banana bread didn't have a memorable banana taste to say the least. For my main meal I ordered the hamburger that was approximately $18 hence I expected a really nice juicy burger. This was something I was definitely in the mood for but again to my disappointment the burger was rather small (it looked like it really shrunk in width and height) and was dry instead of juicy. The condiments that were accompany the burger was a lettuce and tomato. I was going to take a photo of the burger and in hindsight I wish I did to illustrate my description and disappoint over the meal. Note to self in the future. :-) My other choice on the menu was the ribs for $29 and upon exiting the restaurant I saw a patron having it and that looked delicious. Reservations are recommended, but they take walk ins. I ordered the chicken and waffles. HUGE piece of fried chicken. My first thought was "i can't possibly eat all this." But, after the first bite of Crispy, crunchy, juicy chicken, I was in heaven. And I am not a quitter.The chicken was seasoned nicely, and it was even garnished with deep fied rosemary and deep fried lemon slices. Imagine that. Nice touch! I tried to eat those, but not really edible. The syrup was served on the side and was slightly spiced. It pared well with the chicken. I ate every bite. The waffle was a nice, thick, bownwed waffle, and it was amazing. I couldn't finish it all, but it was good. My friend had the veggie omelet with toast. Booked a reservation for my bf's birthday dinner. I really appreciate how they take time to actually follow seating requests; requested for a quiet/ intimate spot and they gave us the corner before the restaurant started getting packed. Also liked the food! Their pasta of the day was vegan fettuccine with lamb meat, the taste was unique and I liked it! My bf had the fresh catch which was bass and he liked it too. We ordered one cocktail each, mine was Peach Dont Kill My Vibe, imo alcohol was not too much, I couldn't really taste it. My bf also had Napa Wine (I forgot which one) and I wish we remember the name cause it was really good! read more
