He dealt with the owner of the property late at night to get the approval and had his guys out first thing the next day to dig up the pipe, replace it and just like that our toilets, showers, sinks and washer are all back in use. These guys may be competent plumbers - I'll never find out - but they are awful communicators. I reached out via Yelp for a leaky bathroom faucet. The guy I spoke to quoted me a reasonable-sounding price for a faucet replacement, so I went ahead and booked for the next day. I told him that I'd ordered a faucet from Amazon to be delivered by 8 AM, so they should maybe come in the afternoon. He said "No problem, we won't get there until 9 or 9:30 AM anyway." Next day, 9:30 AM, I message asking for an ETA. The response is "oh, we were waiting for confirmation that the faucet was delivered." That's interesting, because they never said they needed confirmation, but fine - I'll give it to you now. At 11:30 AM, I get a text saying "I should be there within the hour." At 12:55, I respond asking for an ETA, and get told that they were waiting for confirmation AGAIN, and that because they didn't get it they cannot schedule me for today, with a long message about "driving all the way to the city." I understand wanting confirmation - it would be pretty annoying to travel for a job, only to be sent back because the customer isn't available. But I wasn't asked for confirmation once by either employee who spoke to me, and every other plumber I've ever hired has not required confirmation, either. More importantly, I don't appreciate being spoken to as if it's my fault that I didn't magically understand that they needed something that was never once requested. (And don't get me started about "all the way to the city" - if jobs in a given location are too inconvenient, don't bid for them.) A few minutes ago, I booked with a competitor who offers same-day service, confirmed my availability while I was on the phone with them, and said THEY will send ME a confirmation when they're en route. He's honest, straightforward about costs and doesn't try to upsell you like other contractors I've worked with in the past. He cares about his customers and maintains good communication. If his workers spots issues during their work that doesn't require tearing down walls, they will go ahead and fix it with little to no added cost. I've hired Mark twice already on two separate projects, and the work he does is amazing. In the last task, I hired him to fix water damage in the restroom and replace the shower. Mark and his associate, Brian, absolutely saved us last Friday after an "emergency" plumber left us in the lurch. Long story short, we had a clogged and perpetually-running toilet, which meant that the bowl would fill up and risk overflowing, so once an hour, all night long, I set an alarm and went to go manually empty the toilet with a bucket. By 645am, on 45min of sleep, I was DONE. I sent out a desperate message on Yelp. Mark replied in 10min. By 7am, we had a plan. Allowing for travel time and parts acquisition (better to get stuff in advance and show up slightly later than show up earlier, only to have to go back out for a part), they showed up at 9am, and our "little toilet problem" had revealed itself to be a "big clog problem", with our tub backing up, and water leaking from the living room ceiling downstairs AND the garage ceiling. But they fixed it all! Toilet valve was fixed, so it no longer perpetually runs, the clog has been eliminated, and the leaks stopped. A problem like this is par for the course with a plumber. Having said that, there are two distinct points I should make to really highlight why Capri Engineering is special: 1. Mark explained everything to me, step by step, clearly and professionally--not just what the problem was and how it would be fixed, but he also taught me some basic plumbing preventative measures, WITHOUT patronizing me.
